MaddiesMom - wow, those recipes sound delicious. Last time I received a recipe on here I ate it 3 times in a week. I especially like the sound of the turkey burgers. Thanks for sharing!
Burgundy - thats a great way to stay focused, get back on the horse. I know for a fact that I am going to have an off day on Friday. I am going out with friends for dinner and drinks and I have no intention of staying on track but I am going be strict the rest of the week so that I dont stress over Friday. So consider yesterday your cheat day and then rest of the week you take it easy.
I ended up having my smoothie tonight because I was still hungry after dinner and it held me over, so I'm happy. Im hoping to weigh tomorrow, I cant wait to let you guys know.
Lindy,
I had two 4 oz turkey burgers and a small sweet potato for dinner at 5:45, and I'm still full, which is really nice. I think if we come across a good recipe, we should definitely share!
Well, I just got home from the gym and grocery shopping. I has been a looooong day. I got home at like 7:15 (I live 2 minutes from work) and changed, and immediately went to the gym after grabbing a sugar-free apple sauce. I was still pretty hungry on the way to the gym, so I stopped at Taco Bell and got one grilled chicken and cheese taco. Mmmhmmmhmmmmmm..lol. It was yummmmy. I am pretty darn happy that I went to a fast food restaraunt and only had about 250 calories. So I went on to the gym and discovered that I shouldn't have eaten so soon before working out hardcore...lol. I just didn't feel so great for the first 10-15 minutes. Watched the biggest loser again while I worked out and made it for about 95 minutes (60 mins elliptical and 35 mins bike). I would have went all the way until 10 but my DF left at about the 75 minute mark and I didn't want to make him sit in the car bored for too long. So diet wise, today was good. About 1300 calories and burned off about 900 cals in exercise.
MaddiesMom, that turkey burger sounds super yummy. Since I have been dieting, I haven't really cooked at all. It's just the two of us and we really don't eat whole meals and really don't eat the same things. So we each just microwave a tv dinner or some veggies or I make a salad. I actually do most of my eating for the day at work (even breakfast) since I have been working so late lately. But I may change up the pace a little bit and try out those burgers!
LuckyLindy - here's to hoping you see a great number on the scale int he morning!!!
Today is a great day! Do you know why its a great day?! Because if you look under my picture and see my weight you can see I lost 6.5 pounds! Woo-hoo! I feel awesome and that everything I have changed is well worth it. I comsume about 1400 calories a day and burn off about 250 so I am sticking to my program. I don't weigh food or count calories to the "T", I just guesstimate and all of it seems to be working. I am super happy and excited to share my results with you.
Hi all. I've been gone for a while - super busy...but trying to stay on plan. I can feel myself slipping though. I went to the rodeo this past weekend and had 3 light (but very large) beers. I still didn't go above my calorie intake...but beer is not on my diet. And then this morning I had a poptart for breakfast, I only had one instead of the 2 that come in a package so it was only 220 calories, but still....poptarts are NOT on my diet!! I've been doing the Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred in the morning and am wiped out by the time school gets out (I work in a school). Yesterday, they changed the schedule at one of the schools I work at so there is 'physical activity' for 30 minutes Tuesday mornings, so I joined the high schoolers for some yoga which was fun, but painful after the 30 day shred.
Help me stay OP - I've seen a bit of a gain recently and have been trying to stay OP. Usually when I see a gain, I quit immediately. I've made a couple of small slips, but haven't quit entirely...wish me luck!!
(the special ed teacher just told me that the parent teacher conferences tomorrow night are being catered by the macaroni grill....I need all the will power I can get to keep from pigging out!! I love Italian food...)
Maddiesmom_ I think I will try the turkey burgers tonight fo rdinner, they sound really yummy!! I have always wanted to try a turkey burger
Lindy_ WOW!! That's soo exciting that you are down 6.5 pounds!! I am jealous!! LOL
TC_ That's great that you are staying on track. I am proud of you!!
Bexx_ I totally agree with the giving up part thats' what I always do. If I don't see results even a pound shedding off I give up immediatily and then for me I seem to gain more probably binge eating.
I am open to any diet/plans anyone thinks may work.
I tried doing the calorie count and that is just too much work. I am up for the challenge and truely desperatly want to lose weight. I am really frusterated. In general I have a pretty good idea what to do. I have tried the la wieght loss as mentioned before and that worked for a bit, then nothing, I need more out of this then 10 -15 pounds. Then I tried doing weight watchers on my own with a friend from work. I don't always have or make the time to weight portions and use the points finder. So that's not ideal for me either. Then I thought I would only eat things with labels, this in helping to eliminate the eating out, and that's working I have not eaten out in a few days, which for me is great!1 I have been eating tv dinners, lean cuisine, and they are about 200-250 calories each. But I am still hungry about 2 hours later. That's the only downfall I think they are not filling.
I am just unsure what diet plan to choose as there are many!!
........I'm just frusterated, it's been a long week at work with all my drama with work in all.......and it's only Wednesday!! I can't wait for the weekend!!
I'll check in later
Hi Bexx! It sounds like your eating in moderation, so that's the first step. You can't just give up everything cold turkey, so the progress that your making sounds good. As far as Macaroni Grill (mmmmmm........I live Macaroni Grill), try and eat something healthy and filling before you do the conference, your less likely to cheat or over indulge. OR make something Italian to satisfy your craving. Bertolli makes fat free, wheat pasta with a newmans low sodium, low fat sauce, that might help.
Your still down in weight so that's what matters. Just remember, everything in moderation
In my previous post I had mentioned that I am guesstimating on my calories, I would hardly call it calorie counting, but what I did is stock up on. Bunch of different things that I like, for example:
Motts sugar free 60 calorie berry apple sauce
Publix brand low fat yogurt (anything 100 or less)
Fiber One bars at 140 calories (these are like candy bars, so good)
Polly o fat free string cheese at 70 calories
Jello 60 calorie pudding cups
Plains oatmeal with frozen berries and 1 sweet n low packet
I also buy a large rotisserie chicken each week, remove the skin and bones and package it into individual portions. Something else I love is Campbells Healthy Harvest Soup (100 calories or less and it has 2 portions to a can).
Anyway, I take most of that stuff and package it in quick portions. Then, I make a point to eat every 2.5 hours. I completely eliminated soda also and that plays a big part. So, my point in babbling (lol) is to just cut back and try to give yourself healthier options. I too have done diets like Weight watchers, nutrasystem and medifast and most of the time they do work but I ALWAYS put it back on
Just remember, keep your spirits up and your eye on the prize - you can do it!
Lindy - Congrats on the 6.5! You're my hero of the week! (There isn't a hero icon, so you will just have to be queen. It still comes with a crown!)
Kity - Turn off the phone, run a hot bubble bath, light candles and incense (no artificial light) and get yourself some down time. When you get out, curl up in bed or on the sofa in a warm fuzzy robe and put a on chick flick. This is guaranteed to make you stress free and get back on track!
TC - Great for getting back into the workouts!
MaddiesMom - Yummy! Recipes sound soooo good. I'll dig a few out and post also.
burgundy - Chalk it up, and move on. That's what always stops me, but I have a new outlook and it seems to be working.
Neesy - Food days...uughh! I know about that. Our department seems to create reasons to have one. Fortunately, more and more people are trying to watch their waistline also, when I get some good stuff I'll post so you can make something without guilt
I've been trying to keep track of my food for a couple of days on my blog. If I can keep consistent, I will post a link with my name for anyone interested. I'm hoping to add a recipe page also.
Today, so far has been good. I need to get more protein in and work on cutting more sodium out. I just so picky about meat and I'm not crazy about leftover meat. Some things are OK, like meatloaf, meaty pasta sauce or chili. But chicken breast, I'm just way funny about it. I'll have to incorporate it into stir-fry or whatever else I think of. I guess I should buy it first though, huh? Right now the only meat I have in me fridge/freezer is a pack of frozen bacon. Not a great thing for losing weight. I have all kinds of frozen veggies, wheat pastas, LF cheese, yogurt, etc. just no protein.
I could make that my goal for Sunday - get a plan together to include more protein and no matter what happens this weekend, cook 2 protein packed meals to store/eat for the week along with my usual. I'll let you know how it goes.
Burgundy - thanks for the kudos, you made me smile.
I like your plan, I like the fact that you are setting a plan - thats what its all about, plans and goals. Well, I'm going to go walking now - see ya later.
Lindy: Congrats on the 6.5 pounds. I know that it's great to find a lower number on the scale.
I don't know what happened, because this always happens soon after I begin a diet. Overnight I just got a horrible cold. It started last night with a sore throat and this morning I was horribly congested. Definitely no working out for me today (or the next few days). I forced myself to make my healthy meals, but when it came time for dinner, I broke down and had Chinese food. I picked something with a clear sauce, (figured less ingredients), and they don't use MSG. Lots of veggies. I only ate about 600 calories for my two previous meals, so I don't feel horribly guilty for having it. That's a first. Usually I feel guilty and kick myself afterwards. But yesterday, I only had 900 calories all day (that's 3 meals and a snack), so again, I don't feel so bad.
I'll just have to work harder for the remainder of the week (after my cold is gone). I hate being sick, and it's hard being home with a 13 month old and having no energy.
I wanted to share with you guys my dinner tonight. I went to Publix (our local grocery store) and they had imitation crab meat in the butchers block. So - I got some field greens salad, with peppers, grape tomatoes, imitation crab meat and some balsamic vinagrette - it was SO GOOD and very filling.
Just wanted to say the turkey burgers were awesome!!!!! Thanks for the recipe. I'll check back Timor when I have time to read all and catch up just wanted all of u to know
Hey everyone! Well.. I lost the 3lbs that I was complaining about a few days ago. So, now my ticker is accurate again. YAY! I've been on track again. I started back to work on yesterday. It helps so much for me. I'm more active at work.. running around like crazy for 12-13hrs, instead of sitting on the couch for 12-13hrs during my vacation! Anway, hope everyone is doing well!
Lindy-Congrats!!! That is so great!!! I really like your idea about getting the rotisserrie chicken and dividing it up. I am definitely going to do that. Because I don't feel like cooking chicken every day when I get off work.. that is a much better option.
