Happy and Mel
Yes, I went to Paragould but it was just an over night trip. It was an full of things to do. I took my aunt a t.v. cart to put her new record player/radio. Then of course that called for rearragning some of the furniture. I helped my aunt decorate her lawn for halloween. They don't get many trick or treaters. They mainly do it for the grand children. Now if I don't back over it

Mel
good for you for the pounds lost. No more procrastinating.

Rennie
You are at already at your November goal. Wow that's awesome! I should be there but to much stuff gets in my way.

Holly
Where are you? Still busy with life.

Hello to Nae,Meadow and PainterWoman.

Morning all,
Happy - this $%^#^$% program, which I'm told is for the good of my health, can do all sorts of things if you set it right. For example it will tell you that you have been on the keyboard continuously for xxxx hours. It will display exercises that you should do every 2.5hours, it allows you to submit a discomfort report so that the fuzzy wuzzies from HSE will come down and go over your desk to see what is not ergonomic or what doesn't fit you. It displays how much time you have done today, yesterday and no doubt will project tomorrow if you wish. This is all put in place by the company who would no doubt use it for statistical purposes were you to file suit about the state of your chair, or the RSI you now have etc. Must admit I am a bit cynical about the use of these things but in todays sue or else society, I suppose they have to protect themselves somehow.
Carla would probably look at your pool and say - hey, hey a hot tub!!!!!

Rennie - pink elephants weren't on the agenda but I certainly wasn't seeing straight yesterday afternoon. Took the afternoon off and took the train out to Fremantle to the markets and had a good time just taking in the sea air. I certainly went out like a light when I went to an early bed last night. Problem with that was I woke up and 3 and couldn't get back to sleep. Hence the early arrival at work this morning.
That's good going being 4lbs ahead of the goal.

Carla - I will have to educate you in the ways of making phone calls. That's why Madcat (otherwise known as Chatte Folle) has an answerphone. Must admit that I gabbled into the phone so she probably hasn't yet worked out who the message is from.

Ceejay - what's the driving difference between your place and Paragould? Seems like you do if fairly often.

Patty - 2lb is 2lb and better off than on. Sometimes it comes off slow despite the hard work and good eating, other times it seems to come off fast. Sometimes I think the longer we keep at this, the harder it becomes.

Mel, I can always remember where I live. Sometimes I forget how to get there though. Can't find any drum rolls around the place. You will just have to settle for the happy dance.

Jen has gone red? Dark red? Red red? Fire engine red?

Okay - gotta go and get some breakfast. I'll be back.

HI Ladies. I am sick with a chest cold and fever.
Just waiting for the dryer to stop so I can flip the last load of laundry. I have been laying down since supper, except for helping the kids with their baths. They are in bed now.
I am so weak and wimpy feeling. I hate it.Today was a looong day. I rested a bunch but still did 4 loads of wash and got groceries and made supper and lunch ....Glad it is almost over.

HUGS!!!

Morning chicks,

Mel - remember what Roosevelt said (I think it was him) walk softly and carry a big stick whatever the heck THAT means Sorry you had to compromise work for shopping. Hope this doesn't turn into a habit FORMING activity for you - ha ha har. my fingers and toes are that you can get through the day.

Hope you feel better soon Holly - hot tea and chicken soup for you little one.

Shad - loved the conga line of dancing ghosts - quite fun! I see this program as another way that big brother can watch over what you are doing on the work front. Does ANY company truly care about us as employees any more?

Ceejay - you can come decorate my house too. Seeing as how Halloween is next week, guess I should get my act in gear. Haven't even bought any candy yet because I kept thinking it was weeks away.

Where did this year run off to?

We're supposed to get some good rains today. Now where did I put that umbrella? Happy Monday chicks...

Morning All,
My weekend with my mom and sis was tooo short but fun. My sis is good for the economy of Salmon....that girl likes to shop. So we had a good time. My mom is doing well with all of her lastest booboo's but there were those odd little things that makes me truly know my mother is aging...... but she is amazing in lots of ways.
Am looking forward to my week....lots of adventures in store for this one!!!! Late night travel on Tuesday so good thoughts for my car and safety please!
Have been having great conversations on the phone with the new fella I seeing on Thursday soooooo we shall see. He actually remembers conversations and asks about things in my life......! It will be interesting to see how the pups all get along.....
Saw the first elk in the field this weekend too...they seem to be coming down earlier this year....the wolves might be busy up behind my house....makeing them move down at night. Oh Dear...whenever my dogs have to go out in the dark it is just sweet relief when they come back to the porch and into the house.
Hope everyone is well!
Peace,
Nae

Happy
hope you find your umbrella. The rain was heavy this morning when I drove to work.

Mel
Good for you in changing your plans. I think we have to do this at times. I know that for myself I have to do this. I should have refilled the chemical drums this morning but after the chemical truck came I decided against it. It's been a busy morning.

Nae
It's sad to watch our parents age. Gald you are spending precious time with her. Let us know about this new fellow. Sounds like he may be a winner.

Rennie
Nice pictures of the zoo animals.

Holly
Get plenty of rest and feel better soon.

Ruth
Have a safe trip back home.

The rain is making some of my joints ache.

Weigh in this morning was 182.6.

Do you think we weigh more on rainy days? Kind of like our bodies soak up the extra moisture?

Howdee doodee

Thoughts of Theodore Roosevelt
Big Stick

"Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far"

During TR's term as Governor of NY State he fought with the party bosses, particularly Boss Tom Platt regarding a political appointment. Roosevelt held out, although the boss threatened, to "ruin" him. In the end the boss gave in.

According to Nathan Miller in his book "Theodore Roosevelt, A Life", page 337,

"Looking back upon his handling of the incident, Roosevelt thought he 'never saw a bluff carried more resolutely through to the final limit.' And writing to a friend a few days later, he observed: 'I have always been fond of the West African proverb: "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." ' "

The proverb and the policy followed him into numerous instances in his career, including his policies abroad during his presidency.

So he wasn't walking, he was speaking. Still it seemed to have worked for him. I looked it up!!!! Isn't the internet an amazing animal.

Rennie - nice pics from the zoo. I think that is the first time I have seen flamingo on dry land. They are usually standing or p**ping in the water. Did anyone tell the penguins where to get their tux's drycleaned? Dinky little spots on them!

Holly - feel better soon. If touring around the countryside does this to you, maybe better to stay home and let the world come to you.

Mel - didn't you learn anything from the fairytales. Breadcrumbs won't crack it lady, the birds eat it all up and I am left wondering, now if you paved the way with gold and diamonds - I'd hoover up the street!!!!!
Good to read that you had a successful day. Forms and formats - yuk. Sometimes I get the hehi inside and feel an absolute need to unformat the bl**dy forms that we get to fill in for every course and every piece of documentation. Heck would it matter that much if instead of reading - If you are happy that this documentation satifies the educational need...... it read- just sign the #$%^$%* thing?

Happy - the program is meant to infer 'we care about our employees and their families'. In part it is good but most people just find it totally infuriating. The day that someone comes up with a program that doesn't make a stupid amount of electronic music to indicate that there is a rest and exercise session coming up, that's the day I'll start to take notice. Whats the point of a program that loosens up your muscles and drives you insane at the same time. Do we then get a program with a zapper to drive the muscles crazy and sooth the savage mind??? And can you imagine everyone forced to use it and that music plays out over the office at different times of the day and night from 20 different computers set at 20 different times???
Do we weigh more when it rains??? Oh there's your umbrella by the way!! Yes we do. To see how much water weighs - jump on the scales, have a shower and then get back on the scales again. Gets even worse if you wash your hair! Oh the things we know on this site!!!!!!

Roseblush - Good to hear the animal stories coming out again. I think I agree with Ceejay. This one might be a keeper. More research is necessary before we make a final decision though.
It's sad to see the parent's age, but at least yours is at home and relatively okay. It's worse when you have to put them in a home and they seem to deteriorate much faster there. Not saying that they don't look after them but..... they just do!

Ceejay - take care humping those drums of chemicals around.

Ruth - can't wait to hear the tales of the Gardening South. Glad you've had a good time - bet Hershey will not leave your side for a week. Are you getting in touch with Carla while you are in Ottawa?

Madcat must be celebrating good and proper - haven't heard back from her about the birthday day or dinner. And is Carla still at work?
We haven't heard from Meadow for quite a while - hope she is okay and just hasn't got off the exercise bike to get onto the computer!!!

And with that, another day begins. Yesterday, the rooster came back full of tales of the new baby - and he is cute too (the baby not the rooster) so we gave him a pile of presents to send home. I've set the lot of them some tasks to achieve this week. If they don't achieve them we are in the pooh good and proper. We shall see what we shall see. I can't do it all.

Gosh, spend a day or two not posting, and everyone else checks in at length! I think I was just so jealous of the fantastic pics Shad and Happy came up with that I had to go sulk for a while.

Happy, I would kill for either stick straight or curly hair. Instead I have in-between stuff that looks seriously scary every single morning of my life. My best option is to keep it very short - quicker to wet down - but with my height and broad shoulders I then get people assuming I'm batting for the other team. Not that there's anything wrong with that (dixit Seinfeld).
If the weather down by you is as glorious as it was here today, I might well jump into that pool! Although I do prefer a lake so I can do more distance swimming instead of paddling back and forth. When I had a house with a little pool a few years ago I never went in once it got cold. This aft I was working, and thus was saved from any crazy hike/cold lake swim nonsense.

Shad, was the cat in Madcat's bday photo your Sunday?? I may try to dress one of mine up one of these days to see how it would look...
As for the chorus of pre-exercise music on your computers... can't you all just turn the volume off? I've always hated the little noises computers make, and have mine permanently on mute.

Mel, congrats on the scale success!!! Bravo! Soon you'll be heading into the seventies - probably at the same time I climb back up to the eighties. Sigh.
Lovely that you're going grocerying tomorrow - can I email you my list?

Ceejay humping chemical drums!!! Surely sex talk is on the verboten list!!

Holly, so sorry to hear you're sick. No fun at all, especially with all your responsibilities. But I'm willing to bet that if the flu is the price you have to pay for your travels, you'd pay up with a smile and go again.

Rose, good to hear from you, and good luck with the new BF. I sometimes wonder: if I actually did something or went somewhere other than work and the grocery store, would I start meeting men too?? What a concept!

Madcat, we'll talk closer to my visit. It should be fun, and I'm hoping to get some clothes and maybe shoe shopping done while I'm there. It'll be an odd trip: 3 nights at the Intercontinental with the rich folk, over to the Harbour Castle aka convention central, then back to the high life at the Four Seasons. I've always loved the lobby bar at the 4 Seasons, even though it's overpriced and not quite the same as it once was.

Ruth, don't you know that anything you eat while away from home has no calories? So you'll come home sylphlike despite all the food porn. If you're still around in Ottawa after 5 tomorrow night, I'd be delighted to offer you a glass of something before you head home. Note to OPP officers monitoring this site: I will not feed Ms Ruth any more alcoholic beverages than she can easily metabolize before hitting the road. Thank you very much.

Tonight was spin class number 4, and the old tush didn't complain at all. Of course eating a huge bowl of pasta for a quick dinner after may be counterproductive, but it was so good I may have to have more. Oops. I agree that we weigh more wet (weighed in after the post-spinning shower - ). And it would also seem that I'm very quickly building some very heavy muscles with all the activity. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

Time to go. Take care all, and to those I've missed. Where the heck is Meadow, and Painter's been awol for a bit too...

Morning chicks,

No time for long posts today. I have an all day class I have to go to. It's on Excel spreadsheets. I had a basic class last week and I actually learned a few things. Bummed that we won't have the same teacher today because she was good at what she does and quite entertaining too.

It's cold and rainy here. Very dreary. Going to be hard to stay awake and I went to bed far too late and didn't get enough sleep which is not helping matters. Article on the internet today that says that sleep deprived people tend to be more emotional. Well I'll drink to that

Ok, I'd better get running now otherwise I will sit here too long (as usual) and then be scurrying to get to the class on time. And with the rain I'll have to leave earlier. Will be back tonight. Have a good one everybody...

Darlings! Just a quick check in to let everyoen know that, yes, I survived the B-day festivities! I did get your message Shad, and thank you so much for thinking of me, but the sweet DH and I were still out at dinner so I missed it. Interesting that my own Mother forgot to call me though to be fair, she did send a card last week.

Anyway, I have to go and wrestle with a stupid XML and Excel issue, which is just making me a plate full of crabby. I'll try to get back later for more fun and commenting.

I'm a little jealous of the Excel class. I know enough to get me through. I love it.

Madcat
Love the new avatar. Glad you survived the festivities.

Mel
I have to agree about taking your time. I've always been a workacholic and like to get things done with in the first two hours.

What's this about me humping the chemical drums?!!!!

It's still raining today and has turned cooler. Makes for a good night sleep. Had the window's opened just about an inch.
