GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, I think they are all good, and I hope you read them in between the lines as well
INVEST IN HOPE
It's great to hope for the best, as long as you're also doing something to bring it about. Keep your hopes high, and yet do not allow them to become a substitute for your efforts.
Hope will work for you to the extent that you work for it. With hope and positive expectations behind your efforts, those efforts become vastly more effective. But hope can also work against you if the only thing it inspires you to do is to sit and wait. For then it just becomes an empty wish.
When you find yourself hoping for something, be sure to also find a way to invest the energy of your efforts in that hope. Give your hope a way to move you forward by doing all you can to move it forward.
Have the vision and the faith to hope for the very best. Then get busy, as you hold that hope in your heart, and make the effort necessary to make it happen.
-- Ralph Marston
**************
VALUE YOU PUT IN
Anything worth accomplishing is going to take some long, difficult and sustained effort to reach. Yet even though the goal may be a long way off, the benefits of working toward that goal begin to be yours immediately. For the value of accomplishment is in the accomplishing. The reward is not so much in what you obtain as in the person you become in the process of obtaining it.
No matter how difficult the journey may be, it makes all the difference in the world when that journey is leading to a destination you have chosen. By setting your sights upon where you intend to be five years from now, for example, and by committing yourself to following that path, you immediately add value to even this day and this very moment.
The commitment, the discipline, the focus and the effort are indeed their own rewards. And they begin to be yours the moment you decide to begin. Though at first you may wish you could reach the goal without having to work your way past the challenges, you'll soon realize that such a thing would be worthless. For it is precisely the value you put into any accomplishment that gives it value to you.
-- Ralph Marston
*****************
Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!!!!!

Here's another one I got off the web, can't remember where though, to give credit. Add it to today's MM:
You need motivation? Join the club!
I need motivation to iron my husband's shirts.
My husband needs motivation to do the dishes.
My dog needs motivation to do anything.
We all need motivation
Trouble is, no one else can really help us.
We have to find the motivation from within ourselves.
We have to want to lose weight
We have to get fired up
It's no good sitting down and squeaking 'I need to lose weight' (sob).
We have to stand up and SHOUT IT!
We have to say:
I'M FED UP of being fat.
I'm FED UP of covering up my thighs.
I'm FED UP of being laughed at.
I'm FED UP of being ignored.
I'm FED UP of feeling bad about myself.
I WANT MY LIFE BACK!!!!
I want to LOOK GOOD!
I want to FEEL GOOD!
I want OTHER PEOPLE to feel good about me!
I want to have FUN!
But shouting it isn't enough either
We have to start ACTING as though we MEAN it.
We have to get OFF our butts and start making PLANS.
We have to STAND TALL and take ourselves SERIOUSLY.
No one else can do this for us
So get going, girls!
Stand tall and start taking yourself seriously.
NO MORE excuses.
NO MORE junk food.
NO MORE fad diets.
NO MORE fat person.
The moral?
First, get an attitude. Then get slim.

Good morning! Debelli, thanks for the welcome over on LC. I have been lurking on your board and gathering info on this WOE, I have been doing WW with Lo carb and it is very difficult, it is also hard to feed the family when you are doing lo carb....my son is on sugar overload and I am concerned about it so I am going to try SB for kids with him. I have ordered both books from Amazon and plan to get started!!!! There is a ton of info on this board I am amazed!!!!!

Hi,
Debelli thanks for sending the email.
Do you guys start to feel more challenged in the winter, due to lack of good produce?? The tomatos are tasteless and the produce is expensive.
Well I am going to get my butt back on track now that all the holiday sugar junk is over. I feel like I gained an inch or two all over. What is really strange is that the scale has not moved which must mean I'm losing muscle and gaining blobs of fat.
Has any one here done the Firm tapes?? I saw a three pack at Kmart for $24. I think they are pretty hard tapes but I think they get good results.
My main objective is to start excersising.
Ok....next I need to get to the store and get some op stuff.
Be back later!
Chris

The Firm Tapes
Hi Chris,
I am new here, but it is my 5th day of SB. I have the Firm Tapes, bought at Walmart. They are very good and work your Butt off, my set has one for abs, one for upper body and one for lower body. They use weights and a step box. They are an excellant workout.

A New Monday
All the leftovers are out of the house. No more junk. I have eaten everything I ever missed over the last 15 months. Funny though I still haven't had any sugar. Other than 3 margaritas. Before SB I would have eaten sugar, sugar, sugar. Guess that's something.
Thursday i got on the scale, hoping to shock myself back on track. Was only up 3. surprisingly. Now to get it moving down.
My home gym arrives today. Planning on trying it out tonite. It is raining here and predicted to do so until tomorrow night so I guess I won't get to walk. Will have to try those tapes.
Back on track today. My salad for lunch sounds so good. Don't know what New Year's Eve will bring, but trying to stay OP as much as possible. If I don't. I will start new on Wed and will stay there. Got to fit in the dress for DD's wedding.
Back to work so that helps. I can eat my fruit and drink my water. Just can't seem to do that at home.
Been on here all morning catching up and my desk is covered.
Country, I feel your pain. I feel so miserable. I have eaten everything I have missed in the last 15 months. Can't say it was worth it either. I was so glad that Monday arrived. I fixed a nice salad for lunch and am actually looking forward to it. I am moving forward today. Today will be 100% legal. Tomorrow will be unless I can't make it through NYE. But it won't be a total blowout. We can do this. We did it before. You have come to far to blow it now. Let's go hand in hand.
Yellow, glad you are down 3 lbs. Seems like you have a handle on it. I'm gonna do the same and hope to report a loss next week.
Monet, glad you are back. Sounds like you held your own there. Nice going. what a great price on the agave. I paid $5.09 last week for a bottle.
Jennifer, let us know if there is anything new in the book. I thumbed through it at the store and didn't see much different from the first, so I didn't buy it.
Fruit, I wouldn't worry too much about the gain. It could still be fluids from your surgery. The recording session sounds awesome. I bet you DN loved it.
Deb, I think someone should put a bug in the new's ear about the SB group at the marathon. I'm sure with you shirts you could get some coverage. Maybe some of us not attending will catch a glimpse of our friends. Sorry to hear about your GGA. How sad. But 96 is great. I take it they can't remove or treat the tumor?
Heartmom. Today is a new day. You can do this. We are all starting fresh today. I know this is important to you. If it is, you can find a way to do it.
Bob, Sorry the yard sale was a bust. Hope you didn't waste your time watching that game. I hope Tubby is gone after that one. Rick just out right out coached him.
Mel, at least your are combatting your eating with exercise. I can't even say that. But today my gym arrives and I hope to be back to walking or doing my tapes. This is going to end and I am getting back on track.
Scooby2, Welcome to our world. THis is a great board for friendship and support. Ask anything, soemone will know the answer. You are smart to get your son away from the sugar. Has to help him in more ways than you will know.
Chris, I got one of the Firm tapes for Christmas. Haven't unwrapped it yet. Plan to do so this week.
Be back later.
Jackie

Good Monday Morning Everyone
Just got in from my walk. It was hard to do today and I found myself doing about 75% of it walking. My legs felt like logs instead of legs, very heavy. It took me 55:10 to do my 4. 5miles. At least I went, though at a snails pace.
Though not happy with my walking time, I am happy with the scale today. It's at 128.5 Can't complain, (not like it helps any even if I did!).
Have a lot of errands to run today and things to get done in the house. I'm trying to just work on the obvious, stuff others will see, for now. I'll tackle the other crap later. My repreive from my cousin arriving is ending today for sure, so no more putting things off.
SCOOBY, Glad you've decide to join us. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD as well, it was nice to learn more about you I think it's great you are doing SB for your son, as well as yourself. This is such a sensible WOE to follow and something you can do indefinitely. With all the great recipes out there you and your son should have no problems finding delicious things to eat, esp. if you are able to get agave syrup, then the skies the limit. Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions, we're all more than happy to help
CHRIS, glad to see you back on the board, even though I had to do it with a little nudge I think there's a lot of factors that hamper people's ability to stay OP during these months, the holidays being the main one, but the change in the weather, the shorter hours of the days, etc. etc. BUT, these are all excuses we try to use, but are they really valid? Good luck with the new tapes. I can't comment because I am one who doesn't do well with tapes at all. I have a few, try them once and back in the closet they go.
SWEET, Glad you've decided to join us as well. I think you're the first person we've ever had from Oregon. I want to wish you a HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! Hope it was a happy one. Please let us know a little more about yourself when you get a chance. Also, don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have, we're all more than happy to help give out our 2 cents worth of advice. Once again, WELCOME!
JACKK, glad to see all the junk is out of your house, wish I could say the same for me, but luckily, the junk in my house is NOT calling my name. Glad to see there wasn't much damage on the scale for you, 3 pounds, you'll have that back off in no time. I can't believe with all the eating, no sugar!?! WOW! For me, that's what I hit first and I keep going, and going, and going, like the Energizer Bunny! I doubt we'll be discovered in O-TOWN, but at least we're going to be well represented and will have a small crowd standing out!!! My GGA, they say she's just too old to do surgery, unfortunately. I'm sure I haven't heard all the details. I think they've only given her a few months to live now. As of last night, I hear she's hooked up to IV's because she can't eat. Can only hope for the best.
Well, I MUST jump in the shower now, I'm starting to ferment. Will check back later today when I get back home from all the running around I've got to do.
Have a wonderful week everyone!
Debbie

Hey Sugar Busters
Thought I'd better get myself on here after the APB DEB put out on us delinquents.
Haven't had much time this month for getting on the computer. I've tried to peek in, but haven't really caught up with you all. I did notice that a lot of us have strayed from this WOE over the holiday season. I'm trying to get back on the sleigh (we actually have a bit of snow here). I've had too much sugar and white flour. Even a little bit will send my blood sugar soaring and then come crashing down.
I started out bad yesterday by making cinnamon buns for the family. After that, I've been OP. I even took the time out to make a decent LEGAL sandwich when my blood sugar crashed. I'm also trying to get back to all the water I was drinking every day.
I weighed this morning and am at 165!!! I think that is a pound down from the poll DEB asked us to predict where we would be after the holidays. I'm right where I predicted, but the scale lies. My clothes are tighter and I have more fat in my rolls! That means I have more fat and less muscle than before. I'd rather weigh a little more with some muscle than have more fat. I'll have to get back to exercising for sure. Hopefully once things get back to "normal" next week, I'll be able to get my butt moving.
I still won't have too much time for the computer. Hubby and I bought an investment house (took possession Dec 23 ) that we're trying to fix up and put back on the market ASAP, so needless to say, we're over there every spare minute.
I'll keep trying to peek in. The big get together is coming up and I'm looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing pictures.
I wish all of you a happy, healthy and safe New Year!

Good morning!
The scales are finally starting to drop....hooray! I went grocery shopping yesterday and bought salad fixings..radishes...cauliflower..avacados...cream peas...all the yummy things I use to eat before I lost my mind..LOL I try not to eat after 7 but since I had the munchies last night I had some radishes. It felt great to have the correct things around to help with the late night munchies.
I also went to fit day and have an account set up for the first of the year. I am gonna journal...not only my food but my thoughts and see where this year takes me.
Jack-K and everyone I really appreciate your support. My family just kinda blew me off when I told them how upset I was. I don't think they truly understand the fear and work. Yesterday there were temptations and I didn't even nibble..so I know things are looking up.
Welcome SCOOBY! This group is just awesome. Full of support and encouragment. And of course I'm biased and think it's the best way of eating around.
Chris B...yes I think winter is harder. Less activitiy and fewer affordable veggies. I bite the bullet last night and just paid the higher prices. Made a wonderful legal mexican salad...yum yum.
The kids are working on lessons so I guess I'd better get before they get too distracted with me not hoovering over them. Have a great day. And as we head into the new year.....remember today is a new day...a new year and a fresh start. Be blessed and encouraged.
Love,
Crystle

Thanks for the welcome/more about me!
Debbie, Thanks for the welcome, I have been posting on sweettalkplus for the past 5 days and saw your message there today that THIS is where it is happening. Thanks for the belated Happy Birthday. Glad to be your first Oregon member, I thought I was in a minority because I do not know some of the stores and brands everyone mentions on the boards.
I found Agave Nectar for $5.49 one place here, haven't found it anywhere else yet. I was looking for a brn sugar sub, is Sugar Twin OK? I want to try some baking but do not know what to use.
In the "More about me category"....I am at 170# right now and 5'4", this is the heaviest I have ever been. I ate sugar in everything (I had 10 choc/marshmellow santas over a period of 4-5 days) just before Christmas. I have felt out of control for a long time and kept mentioning to my doc that I didn't like my eating habits but felt at a loss to change. I found a site called sugar-addiction.com and asked her about them. (They are big on self hypnosis) She recommended the sugar busters sight. And here I am. My h and I started on the 26th. Went cold turkey, no more of my adored spuds, no more illegal bread, pastry, cookies, candy.
I spend all my time reading labels, my husband loves the new foods we are trying (ww tortilla's, pita pockets, etc) I would not have thought I could do this but he is helping me stay honest and I really want it to work.
My goals are:
Lose 35#, feel better (not so tired all the time) be healthier, eat healthier and live longer.
I love your boards and will spend today trying to learn my way around. Hope to get in on a chat next week, none this week right?
Thanks again. Jay

A New Week--A New Year!
I'm off the road today, but will be back in the car tomorrow. Went back to Kinston Saturday and came back to Wilmington yesterday (that would be the 4th trip in a week!). I'm going back tomorrow. My Brother and SIL and taking the youngest niece and going to the Gator bowl and someone needs to stay with the oldest niece (14) who doesn't want to go with them, so I'm headed back that way. I'll come back Wed and then get one day off the road before Belle and I head back to Auburn on Friday.
Eating stinks--nuff said. I got the new SB book at books-A-Million (40% off the cover price) so I'm hoping that will be a good reinforcement.
Deb--Got that house cleaned up yet? I'm thrilled to hear that you are back OP and under goal. I'm hitting the health food stores here today to see if I can find some agave.
BOB--Belle has done fine this trip. I gave her some kitty-prozac for the car ride and she did great. She has made friends with mom and dad so she was even fine when I left her with them to go to Kinston. I know she will be glad to get home though, she misses all the neighborhood cats that would stop by her window to say hi!
Sweet--Weclome! You will be amazed at how much better you will feel once all the sugar gets out of your system!
Country--Yum--fresh veggies--I forgot what they are like! Went to dinner at an uncle's house last night and my aunt made dessert--right before she served it she dumped almost half a box of powdered sugar on tip--ICK!!!!
Zanne--good to hear from you!
Jack-K--WTG getting back on track. I'm hoping to get there today myself!
Time to get dressed--Mom and I are going to see Gang os New York this afternoon. We saw Catch Me If You Can on Friday and it was pretty good. I'll let you know about gangs.
Happy New Year!
Susan

Hello my dear friends. I'm back from my wonderful trip to South Carolina for the holidays. I had planned to get back on SB the 1st but Deb sent an e-mail so I bit the bullet and jumped on the scale and got it over with. To my horror I'm up 8 lbs. I got off in Nov. when on a trip to see my brother and couldn't get back on. I knew I was doomed till after Christmas, but today is the day. I've been sooo sick with acid reflux from eating so much sugar and junk its a good reminder of all the good things that comes with being on SB. I'm glad to be back and ready to go into detox. I've thrown candy and junk out all morning prepareing me for it. Tomorrow I go big grocery shopping to get everything I'll need. I'm so proud of all you that hung in there and stayed OP. And rooting for all of you that are starting back up. We've got a whole new year ahead of us. Welcome to all the new people, this is the best support group!!! And SB is a wonderful way of life. I've ordered the new SB book. I just think it might give me some inspiration... Well off I go..... Great to be back....

Morning! I have been reading more of Montinac's book for inspiration, and learning new stuff. I came to the conclusion that I need to stop using any artificial sweetner, even Splenda. I am going to try that, and a few of his ideas, and see what happens.
I have been ok, no totally falling off the wagon, but skirting the boundaries of legality just a smidgeon here and there. It all adds up, and so I am trying to get tough here and stick more closely to the rules.
I got a new computer game for Christmas...Sims Theme Park...and it won't run on my computer. Bummer. I am hoping to get my son, the computer wonder boy, over to fix it for me.
SCOOBY: Welcome! Glad you are here!
ZANNE: Good to see you again!
CHRIS: I know what you mean about produce...but it seems it has gotten better and better each year. Now, I hardly notice a difference in price from summer to winter. Somehow, I think the summer price is just the winter price held over for more profit.... My son in law is threatening to try hydroponics. I asked him what I could do to help!
SWEET: Welcome! Where in Oregon are you? I visited there once a lot of years ago, when my brother lived in Eugene. I LOVED it. If I had not met and married my husband, I was determined to live in Coos Bay!
COUNTRY: That is wonderful that the scales are dropping! Hope it continues! I am going to follow your example and get a lot of snacking veggies...
JACK: Oh, enjoy that gym! I want one! Just don't over do it!
DEB: Enjoy your cousin's visit! You probably are more sensitive to the mess than he is. Hope your GGA is comfortable.
FILLISE: With all this driving, you aren't going to want to come to Atlanta to visit me any time soon, are you?
Gotta go! The bread machine is beeping me! I got a new ww bread recipe I am trying! Will let you know how it turns out!

Hi there!
Thanks for all the birthday well wishes. I had a great week-end. Went to Curves to exercise, went shopping then went to my favorite restaurant for a delightful dinner (and pretty legal even). I'm happy to report that I didn't self destruct to much over the holidays. I weighed when I went to exercise and I'm even down a pound. Bought some new clothes this week-end in a smaller size, happy birthday to me!!! Guess the threat of the detox-dungeon did me in.
Welcome aboard to all the newbies. I'm sure you're already finding out what a terrific place this is. Several of us are meeting up next week in Orlando. My DH thinks I'm nuts wanting to fly halfway across the country to meet up with a bunch of people I met on the internet. He must not think it's too bad though because he did buy me 2 new outfits for the trip.
Does everyone have big New Years Eve plans? I think we're going to a party but we won't be too late, because the Longhorns play at 10:00 on New Years Day. I'm making some navy beans with the leftover ham bone from Christmas Eve, yummy.
I don't have time to post to everyone, sorry about that. Just wanted to get in a quick post while I was thinking about it. Hope everyone has a great day! Talk to you later.
Trish
