Morning everyone. Finally on here a little earlier. Is this Sat.? I'm so lost. Made a kind of stir fry for dinner with some pork strips, onions and bell pepper and a little garlic and soy sauce. We had it with green beans and a salad. Pretty good. I started my no eating after 7:30 at night. Hope that becomes a new habit. I've started trying to make a couch quilt. Its a new craft for me but is relaxing and keeps my mind on something but food. This is my year to do some crafts and put them away for Christmas.
Sef- Your jokes crack me up and give me a lift to my day. Thank you. You've been one busy lady.
TV-Seems like you're really trying with your Mom's new husband. That has to be really hard. But I think your Mother is lucky to have you. Wow New Balance tennis shoes is a really nice gift. My DH really likes to wear them. The Disney trip sounds wonderful except for your poor feet. You just can't beat that walking for exercise and I think its great you're doing it.
Jack-K- I love when you're strong and OP, your posts are so fun to read. Yep we've made it this week I just know we're back in the groove and can do it... Hope your night went okay! Looks like you're going to be running this week-end...
Fillise- So sorry about your GA passing away.... Many thoughts are with you. Thanks for your review on the book. I ordered it and was hopeing it would help spur me on.
Gatorgal- Yummy your dinner sounds good. Wow you do getting the walking in. Hooray for you...Thats such encouragement.
Cherylco-Howdy gal glad to see you back to... That Deb sure is a whizz at gathering her flock together...
Miata-Good for you staying OP. You can do it just hang in there and take an hour or a day at a time. Lucky you having a Curves near you I would love to go to one.
Well I'm off to warm up by the fire and fix some breakfast. Hope you all have a great Saturday...
Hey SEC gals! The Buckeyes DID IT!!!!
I'm a little tired today having stayed up to watch the double overtime game, but it was worth it. Dd left for Columbus this morning (trip to Ontartio was cancelled due to massive snowstorn in NY) and we're hoping the city and university is still standing. They like to burn things, win or lose. I'm glad she was here and not at school for the game.
miata- Congrats on day 1 OP! Keep it going, the first few days are the hardest. I have a few friends that go to Curves and it works for them. Basically any exercise that you'll do is what is best for you. If a big gym and heavy weights put you off for either time or intimidation reasons, it's not doing you any good paying for it!
Fillise- Sorry about your great aunt. You do seem to be living in your car these days! Glad Miss Belle doesn't have to make another trip. Now that election season is over (or is it ever over?) and holiday driving season is over, what are you going to do with yourself?
Deb- Got you email and will head to TJ's today or tomorrow. Really sorry about your great aunt also. For your family's sake, I hope things go quickly and that she is comfortable. I'm not the praying type either, but your in my thoughts.
Sweetbeater- Your comment didn't offend me, but as others have said, I have been doing this for about a year and a half. And the last year I have been much stricter than Sugarbusters, initially doing a program called Body for Life, and for the last 6 months a custom nutrition and bodybuilding program worked out for me. The eating principles are very similar to SB, but tweaked for the amount of exercise I get and considerably stricter that SB in terms of "hidden sugars" and fats. So when I cheated, it was a very conscious decision about particular meals and events, not just taking a handful of cookies whenever I walked through the kitchen. Also, since I've been doing a lot more running and cardio to prepare for the WDW half marathon, I thought I had a little more leeway to cheat than I actually had!
Gator- I always get hungry reading your posts. I eat a lot of stir fries, but use a really good non-stick pan, and just a little spray of Pam. If I want it to taste "Chinesey", I drizzle about a teaspoon of sesame oil over it after it's cooked. That keeps the flavor, and you don't need so much of it.
Cherylco- That's funny about the soda. I can't even drink diet soda anymore. I never drank alot of either, but can't gag it down at all now. Just water, water, water!
TV- Sounds like the family situation is getting better and you're coping better. I'm the oldest and only daughter in my convoluted, much remarried family, so I understand your position. You gotta step out and let everyone (or make them!) grow up and deal with it themselves, at some point. Glad your feet are feeling better.
Hi Monet- Hope you are feeling more rested.
Jack-k- Karaoke? Hope you behaved last night!
Hi to everybody I left out! This board is really humming.
Got to go run errands, return stuff, and think about packing for Florida. Denise- I love the thrift shop idea! Actually, we all went thru our closets 2 weeks ago for the 5 year purge and I have a huge pile of stuff that was meant to go to Goodwill. I think I'll look at it more carefuly with toss away clothes in mind.
I'm slowly unpacking--it's like Christmas all over again. I keep pulling out gifts I forgot I'd received.
I got the bread machine set up and it is midway through its first cycle. I'm making the Hodgson Mill 100% WW bread recipe for my first loaf. If it works I'll pass on the recipe. I'm thinking it might take a few tries to get it right. But I'm looking forward to knowing exactly what is in my bread for a change.
Scooby--Glad to hear that you are staying OP! You will soon begin to notice that you feel much better with the sugar out of your system! One of the pluses of the new book that I didn't mention was that they tell you how to stock your pantry and fridge for the SB WOE (including what to get rid of!). This can be a huge help to newbies!
Toni--MMMMM stir fry sounds good. Thanks for the good thoughts about my GA, she really is better off. I just feel sorry for my Mom who just went through all the paperwork (twice) to get my aunt on medicaid (retirement hint to all--Three years in a nurshing home managed to deplete a lifetime of my GA's retirement savings, bump those savings plans up if you can and buy long term care insurance if you can afford it!). Now she has to go clean out her room at the nursing home and make final arrangements.
Miata--Congrats on the OP day. My very first day OP, I came home from work and instead of passing out on the sofa like usual I had energy to spare! Sugar is poison!
Cherylco--I know what you mean about the diet soda. I have accused more than one server of bringing me the regular stuff only for her/him to SWEAR it is diet. I can't tell anymore and i used to hate the stuff. I am paranoid about getting the sugar-laden stuff so I'd rather have it out of a can or bottle.
Gator--How could I have forgotten about UGA? I'm an alum for heaven's sake!!!! I was pulling for them too. The only school I was rooting for that lost was Iowa (I'm an alum there too). Did your notice that the ACC was 4-3 in bowl games this year. Who was it that was telling me at the first of the season that the ACC wasn't a football conference??????????
Got to go unpack some more. Belle seems happy to be home though she did real well on this trip. She made friend with mom and dad and did not spend the entire trip under the bed like Thanksgiving (for the new folks, Miss Belle is my cat).
Hey mel--we were posting at the same time! I know Belle is glad she doesn't have to get in the car again--as am I! Now that the election is over I'm busy getting ready for the inauguration on Jan 20th. Then I'll be beating the bushes drumming up new clients--the political season is never really over!
Its a cold Saturday here in the peach state.... the cat came in and made a beeline for the heating vent under the kitchen table. He is snoring quietly. I wish my hubby snored as quiet as the cat! I am sure my hubby wishes I snored as quiet as the cat, but I digress....
I spent a lot of time last night online looking for a good GI list. I was disappointed in what I found. Mendosa's site had a very large one, but the variances in stuff on the list was confusing, and in ways disheartening. Whole milk in Italy is 11, in the USA, it is 30. Basmati rice did not look so good at about 50, where some Thai type rice was only 29. I looked for the GI list that used to be on Dr. Mercola's site, but couldn't find it. I did find a lot of other useful information, and signed up for his newsletter. If you like health sites, definitely check his out at www.mercola.com
I just did a brief upper body workout. I want to get back to my exercise routine, put aside while I was vegging with mono. It felt good, but I know I will be sore tomorrow.
JACK: When is the wedding? Sounds like everything is under control! You are so far ahead of where I was, it makes me smile. I did not find my dress until the week before the wedding! What can I say? I like to live dangerously!
MOM2: If you are going to be at Emory in Atlanta, please let me know! I am only about ten miles from there, and be happy to drive over to meet you. I am sure that is not easy on your son, having to go through all the medical stuff at such a young age.
FILLISE: I can't believe you forgot the Dawgs... Like I have room to talk! I did not watch the game. I was relieved to hear they won tho! Glad you are back safe and sound. I am sorry about your great aunt.
SCOOBY: Hooray for you sticking to it!
TONI: I had to laugh...I am with you. It seems weird that it is Saturday!
MIATA: Tell me more about Curves...one opened a few months ago near me. Is it expensive? Should I join?
CHERYL: Good to see you!
TV: Good to see you too! I am sure it is hard to deal with your mom's getting married so soon after losing your dad. I have heard that the better the marriage, the sooner the remaining spouse tries to replace it. I sure hope eventually both sides can enjoy one another.
SWEET: While 2 pounds in eight days may not seem like a lot, it is actually a healthy weight loss. Don't get discouraged. At least the scale is moving down. Remember, the turtle won the race! If you lose just a pound a week, in a year you will lose 52 pounds. Concentrate on how much better you feel, and how healthy you are eating.
MEL: Those Buckeye fans sound scary! Burn things?
TRISH: That is so funny about your hubby-thinking he is on Atkins, but eating everything you do! I always had trouble keeping my carbs down to the amount allowed on Atkins. You really have to work at it.
I am sure I missed a lot of you..and so I apologize. I haven't had breakfast yet, so I am going to go eat before I try taking a bite out of the desk here....
scooby- I stocked up on those legal foods this week to. Sure hits the pocketbook when you get low. Congrads on day 4.
Meliris- You'll just have to take a nap today. Theres allot of talk about the Buckeyes on the news today. I watched Oprah this week and she said one of the things she believes in is everyone has to customize there own eating plans and I really think this is true. You're doing great keep up the good work.
Fillise- Glad you and Belle are home safe and sound. Sounds like Belle did her self proud this trip. I loved unpacking my stuff from our trip to South Carolina it did feel like another Christmas. I know what you mean about the retirement. We had to do that with my Mother when she went into a retirement home. Thank goodness medicaid and medicare were there.
Monet- Thanks for the site address. I'm on my way to check it out after I post here. Wish my DH and dog snored softly as a cat instead of two freight trains......
Hi everybody..My idea of going to bed earlier didn't work out...I tossed and turned for at least an hour..I hate that. I guess I better just ease into this getting to bed early!! I also drank water after dinner cuse I was thirsty which means I really needed it..Well guess who was up 3 times to go pee???? Me!!! Got to get hydrated before 9:00 so It won't keep me up...
Hey I just tryed that cut and past thing!!! It works..
Toni: If you want any question answered about quilting..I can help..It is my passion. Maybe too much but it is..I have some great quilt ideas, so if you want to e-mail me you can and we can talk quilts..write me at [email protected].
TV: Just one question..is your mom happy??? I am a romantic..I think it is really neat that she found someone she can relate to. I am sure she was very lonely and didn't want to spend the rest of her life alone..She knew this guy, so it was easier to fall in love with him.. I know I know I read too many stupid books!!!
Monet: Curves is very cool..It has 12 machines all in a circle, they ar hydrolic driven, so the faster you go the harder it is, that is why it works for everybody. you don't have to change anything, you just get on the machine and do it. In between the machines is a little platform. There is music going all the time, and you start on a platform and start jogging/ jumping, knee raising in place..wht everyou want to do..A lady seaks thru the music..."change stations now" So you proceded to the next station. So you use the exercise machine for 30 seconds, then you move to a platform. You go around 2 times...The results I have seen has been wonderful. Although most people who do really good go 5 times a week. They are open everyday except sunday. My cost is 29.00 a month..I do live it and plan on going every day . It only take 1/2 hour..I like that the most...
Well I had better get some breakfast in me and then off to curves..It is only open till 12:00 on sat..So I had better go..
Well I to have gained during the holidays. I have been on this WOE since 11/01 and prior to the holidays I lost 14 lbs. I have since gained 3lbs. Why is it when you fall off the wagon you fall off hard? It has been very hard to get back on but I will not give up because I know this plan works. Well off to cleaning my house talk to you all later.
I'm still here- you guys have been keeping the board busy! I've been legal the past 2 days- but yesterday I ate way too much sf chocolate- it gave me gas, bloating ,etc. Guess I learned my lesson, lol. I'm at 218 today- so the TOM pounds are gone. I still have 6 pounds to go before I'm back on track. I'm still a little puffy although I've been drinking water like crazy. I really hope I can have these pounds off by two weeks time. Next week I'm going to buy me an exercise video(too broke right now). For now, I'm going to start sit-ups and other floor exercises. Need to do something for my boobs! I've never been big in that dept. and since loosing weight, it seems it came off there first
Hi...Just wanted to give you my official starting weight...Now please take into consideration I did this at curves, after breakfast, with coffee inside me, but with shoes off. I weight 201..I weigh every sat and fill you in what it is, good or bad.
Doing well today, will make up some chicken breast that I have been soaking...I just remembed I forgot to look at the ingredianto to my soaking stuff. I will remember for now on...
Day 2 OP under my belt... working on day 3. I've already had 3 servings of starchy carbs today and am planning on at least one more with dinner, but it's all legal and I'm still getting through detox. We do what we gotta do. I'll be hitting the scale tomorrow, so that should be interesting!
Glad to see that Ohio won. (Sorry Deb!) Living in Tallahassee, we root for FSU and whoever is playing Miami in our family. UF would be on that list, but my parents are a mixed marriage (Mom's family is from Gainesville-area and Dad's from Tally-town). We tend to root for UF as long as they aren't playing the Noles.
I don't think we've ever had riots when the Noles won the National Championship.
Curves sounds pretty cool. Do they have a website where you can see if they have one in your area? I've got to start working more exercise into my schedule. I saw someone's sig line that said "You can exercise until the cows come home but if you don't eat right, you're still a cow coming home" (love that BTW). I guess if you eat right but don't exercise, you end up a flabby cow coming home!
Hi,
It is so nice to see some long time friends back and some new ones added as well. I have been very busy mentally getting ready for the big do in Florida and having a grand time doing that. Now, I need to actually start the packing.
I had been working very hard at staying on program, then I had a few (maybe 6 small) chips and a margarita at the Mexican restaurant and put back on 1 1/2 pounds. Talk about paying for your sins! Now, I know this must be mostly water weight gain because I haven't had anything else off program but it is still there a day later. That will really encourage me to be good, very, very good.
Toni: Glad to see you. What craft are you doing for your couch?
Fillise: So glad to hear Belle did well on the trip and is home safe and sound.
Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello. Will get on here tomorrow and catch up with all the posts, just haven't had the time to get on the computer and when I have the time, someone is hogging it!
Monet: I know you are right about the 2 pounds and I do feel better about it today. My dh lost 4, of coarse, dirty rat! Thanks for putting me straight.
Debbie: I bought the Agave today at WO and guess what, I must be dislexic because it was 4.59. I bought two so I can do some experimenting....who knows how I will find time now that I have been drafted back to work.
Do you all know See's Candy? I went in there today to see if they had any SF candy....just for curiositys sake...wasn't going to buy it! Anyway, they do NOT make anything SF. She did offer me a piece of candy....to which I replied, no thank you! I am flippin mad, mad, mad! It is my very favorite chocolate-Orange Butter Cream. My dh gave me 3#s of them for Valentines last year. Oh, the good old days.
I do not know what Curves is. Someone care to enlighten me? I just received the Total Gym which I ordered from QVC, my other addiction. I will get it set up tomorrow and then add that excercise to my routine. I have a wonderful treadmill but still having too much foot pain to walk regularly. Have to wear special arches etc.
Dinner is chicken enchiladas from the SB Cookbook. Hope they are good.
