Love the new look of the board, those green buttons really stand out!
Want to get in a few quick replies...
TRANQUIL, glad to hear you're feeling better, though I wish you were already 100%. Have you ever gotten a flu shot?
JACKK, was on I-95 and saw there's a Hampton Inn somewhere near the airport, as well as a Hilton and a Sheraton, so I know there has to be hotels right in the area. Will let you know what I find after next week.
CAT, glad to see your post. Are you going to commit to SB again come the New Year?
BOB & SCOOBY, oye vey, two of you now?!? You two are too funny!!!
SWEET, was at WO today and saw the cookies you mention. I'm going to say that they probably won't do you any harm, just make sure you keep it to once in a while and try to eat only one so you keep the grams of sugar to 3. The only thing I would say is not good is the pineapple juice since pineapple is a nono Water REALLY makes a difference in your weight loss. I hate water and sometimes it's very hard for me to drink any, it makes me gag, but other days I don't have a problem. You'll see a better weight loss if you can get that water in. Try flavoring it to make it more palatable. TJ'S doesn't carry agave, at least it never has when I was there. If they can't get a good deal on it, I don't think they carry it. I actually do use stevia and like it. Many don't like it, but I think that's because they use too much of it. If you do, it tastes not only bitter, but like licorice. The key is to start out with a small amount and increase it. Also, when putting it in to a drink, usually a cold one, stir it as you add it, sometimes it tend to clump. If you live in a humid area as I do, I keep mine in a sealed glass mason jar. I had problems in the past with it caking (I use the packets). Get the Sugar Out - good book! If you are looking for good cookbooks that have recipes that can be SB legal, look at old healthy cookbooks - they have some of the best recipes in them!
JEN, popcorn is okay, but it has to be in moderation, though the article says 1 cup, I think you can have 2 cups. I love popcorn but my problem is not stopping at one cup, it's stopping at one bag! One reason I could never do WW, they say a half-cup of ice cream, I'm more like the half-gallon type of person. Same with popcorn, not 1 cup, but 1 bag!
MONET, that cherrios snack sounds delish!!!!! Will have to try it one day! How about putting a little agave on it - double YUM!
Gotta run - once again, I wish you all a wonderful New Year!
Wow the new board looks great..... Hope everyone had a great New Years eve. I went shopping and bought out the store on legal stuff. My DH said he is going to do this with me. We'll see but hope he does. I tried my new George Foreman grill last night on some pork loin chops and they were really good. Today think I'll make a pot of beef soup. I'm not going to weigh in till next Wed. because I did on Monday. So hopefully I'll have a good loss on this 8 lbs. I put on in the last month....... Here we have a brand New Year to start out in. My goal is to reach my goal this year and keep it off.... Have a great relaxing day everyone...
Just got in from my walk/barely a jog. Still windy out there, plus today, it's hot A/C is going back on in a few minutes, unfortunately. It was hard to get out there today, but since it's the New Year, I had to start it out right. Took me 54:57 to do my 4.5 miles. Not as bad as yesterday but not good at all.
Have to still do a few things in the house before everyone arrives here at Noon. Have to take Michael over to the nursing home to volunteer and go p/u bagels and then head home and start setting up the food.
Lest you forgot, it IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY for all you brave souls who are willing to bite the bullet and hop on the metal monster. I'm holding on at 128 so I can't complain. Hope you all fare well, but if not, it's a new year and there's next weeks WIW to work towards
TONI, great goal and I'm sure you'll meet it! That's great that DH is going to be doing SB with you!
Gotta run!

SB since 3/22/00
Reached goal 6/10/01
Nope, no WIW for me. Last night was a food disaster. Nothing like starting the new year feally like a total failure. My net scale loss for the entire year has been 1 pound. I need to keep remining myself I've put on about 9 pounds of muscle and lost 12% BODY FAT, but the scale is not my friend.
Here's wishing you all a new year of health, happiness, properity, and clean eating!
Deb, I'm glad to see that you mentioned the new look of the board. I was afraid I was going crazy, or had inadvertently clicked on something to change the look. It definitely is bright. I takes a bit longer to load up some of the pages for me.
The party was really fun. Everyone brought something and we had tons of nibbles. Main meal menu was ham, pork loin, sweet potato casserole, potatoes gratin, cranberry salad, cauliflower and lettuce salad with mayonnaise, collards, black eyed pes, brown rice, corn bread, corn soufflé, ice cream cake (it was one of the guest's birthday on Jan 1), apple pie, cookies. Not a real good SB meal, eh? I had the collards, cauliflower salad, cranberry salad, and a dab of the corn soufflé. Bad me!
Well, today is a new day for us all. Hope we all feel just as motivated 3 months from now. Have a great new years day, everyone.
BTW, popcorn is confusing. It has a ton of fiber, which should bring down the GI number. In sane portions it is not high in calories. I sometimes get confused about those GI numbers.
Catlover--Welcome back. I'm in the same boat as you. Really struggle and lose sloooowly. Actually put some lbs. on over the holidays. But my golf game is getting better. Haven't hit a ball in over a month, though. Need to get back out there.
WOE IS BOB!!!!! My team absolutely FELL THROUGH THE CRACKS!!!! I didn't expect much, but I did expect more points than were put on the board!!!!
BOB is pulling for the GATORS today Don't tell anyone though...I took them in a bet, and they have to win by 7 for me to win! I'll have to flip back and forth between MISSY'S GAME and GATOR'S GAME , and then at 12:30, SUSAN'S AUBURN TIGERS take the field....man...a girl needs three TV's lined up in a row to watch everything!!!
SCOOBY....I finally turned off the game and watched a movie! It reminded me of the year that the VOLS
played MIAMI and every other play was a score....only the shoe was on the other foot last night!!! It will be this way until somebody up there realizes that CASEY is NOT TENNESSEE QUARTERBACK material!
I don't think the team respects him and they just don't play well in that kind of mind frame!
Hope your DH has a safe trip back home...
DEB....how's your company ??? Hope someone is monitoring your stove cooking today...we don't want a repeat of last year!!!
MONET....never thought of doing that with CHEERIOS....I'll give that a whirl....I'll be tuned in and rooting for THEM DAWGS tonight....they will be the team from the conference to make us proud!!!
GATOR...glad your party was a success...hope you didn't ruin your night by having the TV on my game!!!
MEL...TONI...CAT & SWEET....hope your new year is a good one...keep up the good work....
Hi all,
I posted here a few times last year - and ran into Debbie on another SB site - hmmmmmmm - why is it so many of us Florida folk are on Sugarbusters LOL???? I'm up (or down, depending on where you are looking from) in Palm Beach county (Boynton Beach) in a wonderful 55plus community where we seniors can play all day. Back about 2 1/2 years ago, I decided to finally get rid of some of the excess poundage and started doing this WOE. About 30 pounds are gone forever. I did put on a few this past month eating too much and things I really shouldn't as often as I was - so now it is time to get rid of the last 10-15. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you - it looks like a wonderful group here and Debby is a great leader!
Welcome Nomoresugar! Happy to have you aboard. Hope you post often and let us get to know you. I'm here in cold Missouri waiting for snow tomorrow and wishing I was moving to your 55 community in Florida....
Hey Bob enjoy the games today... Sounds like no one better bother you.. LOL...
OMG- did I do terrible last night! You know what? I don't care- I had so much fun. I don't know what got into me last night, but I started a mud fight. The next thing I know, mud is flying everywhere and most of us are lying in huge mud puddles. It had been raining all day yesterday- Mississippi mud and rain make quite a mess. I had to take a shower and borrow some clothes so that I could even get into my car. One of my friends took a pic of me as proof, lol. Everyone kept saying "that's not like Laurie". I'm usually the one who is mild mannered and the goodie twoshoes of the bunch. Everyone has to let loose sometimes. Okay, gotta go and cook a big pot of cabbage.
BOB and Scooby2--My greatest condolences about the Ewe Tea game. I was pulling for your dear Vols. I could hardly stand it to see the turtles get that victory. And an ACC win. UGH! I know you are down in the dumps about that loss. But now is the time to start looking forward to a great year next season.
The Gators have got to have the dumbest coach in history. To go for 2 for no reason! What is he thinking? If we lose by one point he should be sent to the hospital to have his head examined.
I am finding it hard to adjust to the huge disparity between last season with Visor Man as the head ball coach and the Zooker as the new guy. What a change. It is a bit sad. BOB, I am identifying with some of how you must feel after the Vols disappointing year this season. At least for you it is just a QB that can be changed easier than a HBC. Any Alabama fans out there. Fla. is now starting to go through what the Tide has been suffering since the Bear left.
It's a beautiful day here in central Fla. Cool but sunny and bright. I have the new food pyramid taped to the front of my fridge. And since the base of the pyramid is exercise, I guess I will get out there on this breezy day and take a 2 or 3 mile walk. We are going over to friends tonight for blackeyed peas and collards. She will also have cornbread, but I will pass on that. The first day of a new year is easy to be faithful to eating well. It is 2 or 3 months down the road that I hope to still be faithful.
