Hello all! I'm new to this message board and am ready to just jump in here. I'm sorry but I haven't read the rest of this board. Y'all are an active group! I have skimmed this last page and am looking forward to getting to know all of you better.

I've been off and on Sugar Busters since August. I'd lost 25 pounds but put 7 back on over the holidays. I'm frustrated with that 7 returning, but am pleased with myself because, overall, I'm still lower than where I started.

I'm off to see if there is a bio board to post all the silly details about myself. If I don't find one, I'll be back to bore y'all with them!

--Kat (also from Florida!)

Okay, didn't see a bios thread so here goes.

I'm 25, married to Will with an 18-month old son, Marshall (hence the screen name). I've struggled a bit with my weight all my life, but it really got bad after having Marshall. I got up to 230 while pregnant and then settled down to 205 afterwards.

A very good friend of mine recommended I try SB. She gave me the book and a couple of cookbooks of legal recipies and agreed to be my accountability partner. She's lost a total of 80 pounds and I'm down 17 right now (she's been doing this a bit longer than me). My goal is to make it down to 130 (my doctor suggested that as a healthy target for me) but for now I'd be happy to hit the 150s again.

Happy New Year to Everyone!

It is an unusually quiet day at the office so thought I'd take this opportunity to say hello. One of the attorneys is out of town and Tranquil is home sick, so my end of the office is very quiet.

Tranquil began feeling much worse and went to the doctor today. She has severe sinusitis(sp?) and a severely inflamed throat. The Doc said she will end up with Pneumonia if she doesn't stay home through the weekend and rest. Hopefully, she will be feeling much better before we leave for our Orlando get away next Friday. We spent a quiet NYE at her house watching movies since she wasn't feeling well. We saw a delightful and funny French film called "My Wife is an Actress", and "Enough" with Jennifer Lopez. I especially liked the end of that one when her husband got what he deserved. Hmmm....wasn't hard to envision my estranged husband in his place. Guess I'm terrible to feel that way, but honestly, sometimes I do.

I am so relieved that a new year has begun. This past year has been a very difficult one and I pray that brighter days are to come. I'm sure ready to get busy losing all these extra pounds. I've gained about 8 pounds during the holidays, UGH! I hate losing the same pounds twice, but am committed to doing so.

Deb, I'm sure looking forward to seeing you in Orlando. Seems like it has been years since Tranquil and I visited you in Miami. Are you bringing any wigs with you? Thanks for all of the good articles you've been posting this week. I have to admit that my motivation is very low and I need all the help I can get. A good "*** kickin" may be just what I need. My rear feels so big that you sure won't have a hard time finding it either. My thoughts and prayers are with you regarding your Aunt.

Sef, I loved your jokes, especially the calorie counter. My memory is a little vague, but I think I remember some of those calorie burning activities from long ago.

melf, can't wait to see you again next week also. You are in for a real treat in staying at Deb's house, no matter what she tells you. She is a great Dungeon Mistress....uh...I meant hostess! Sorry to hear you've been down in the dumps, but I can really relate. I boohooed about half the day at work on Tuesday myself. Have you had your hormones checked, like the night shift nurse asked you about? We will have so much fun in Orlando that hopefully you and I won't even think about crying, and we don't want Deb slapping us around about like she threatened to.

Hi Jack k, thanks for the message about being missed. It is always nice to hear that from someone. I also miss you all, when I'm away from the board. Have you always drank your coffee black? I keep saying that I need to eliminate artificial sweeters from my diet, but haven't been able to leave it out of my coffee.

tigerlily, what part of Missouri are you moving to? Best of luck with your move. I moved 10 times in a 10 year period, so I sure don't envy you.

It is wonderful to see so many newbies on the board. Welcome to all of you. I'll try to be around more often so that I don't seem like such a stranger.

Mom2Marsh, what part of North Florida do you live in? I am in Jacksonville, and so is Tranquil. Maybe we live close enough to be able to meet sometime. Are you a full time mom or work away from home?

The new format of the board looks great. My pages load much quicker and I'm not getting any more of those annoying pop up ads. Thanks to whoever is responsible.

Well, some work came in to do so guess I'd better get busy. Sorry I couldn't get to everyone today!

Take Care,
Wendy

Hey Wendy

Definitely a full-time mom, I just happen to have to work outside the home right now.

We're in Tallahassee. I was born in Jax (Navy Brat) and just returned to Florida about 4 years ago.

Smile I'm back!!

Hi Everyone,

Its been several (too many) long months since I've posted or even visited the board. I fell off the wagon hard, but I'm getting up an on again for the new year!

I haven't done too bad, only 7 lbs from my lowest # when I first started doing SB and stayed "legal" faithfully. I'm not officially back on completely - still cleaning out cabinets, fridge and other naughty bad food hiding places in the kitchen. I plan to have all no-no's out this weekend and be full blown back on SB come Monday morning. My DH is going back on as well. I really complained about him losing so much faster than me, but he packed it back on much faster too (ha ha ). He is back up to where he started!!

I've not had time to read over the board, but I'm sure there are many names that are new to me. Hopefully, mine isn't new to everyone.

Deb - how's it going girl? Still makin those record breaking walks/runs? I've got the Firm plan with the fanny lifter now and that is what I'm gonna try and do. The fanny lifter will kill ya, but at least I'll know its working!! How are you doing on water? Don't ask me that one, I've reverted back to mountain dew, so I'll be kicking that old habit again next week.

Any of my ole Alabama gals still around?

Love ya'll - it feels good to be back!!

Hi all,

I read through some posts and wanted to add another reply to catch up with some old buddies:

Melf - I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has been fighting the holdiay blues. I think if I can just get my eating habits back on track and the scale going the right direction that my spirits will lift on their own... Hope you are having a great day!

Sef - I just love your cheerful posts - you always make me smile!

Beth - OK, what surgery??? Where, when, whats going on!?!? It has really been bad around here on the roads with fatalities and such, hasn't it... Lots of families having it rough right now. Guess we all should count our blessings. Shoot me an email and we'll catch up.

C-ya,
Teresa

DEB- the kids were inside(thank goodness)- BUT my friend's hubby snuck a pic of me on his digital camera- I'll see if I can get it.

Well, guys- TOM is here and I have eaten everything in sight since Xmas. No, I did not do good at the party or yesterday- which was even worse. I'm now at 220(blushing) for a total of 8 pounds put back on. I'm NOT going to cry over this, or continue to eat like this. This is a NEW YEAR and a NEW ME. I got it all out of my system(the craving for sweets, etc) and I'm ready to commit to this WOE. I've gone too far to regain everything(I used to weigh 270 a year and a half ago). I've been good today, and I'm NOT going to mess it up. I'm heading your way with the wagon. I'm not promising it's going to be a smooth ride- in fact, it will probably be quite bumpy- and it's going to be a long ride- but we can do it together and it will be well worth the trip!

Can anyone recommend a good exercise tape that doesn't require additional exercise equipment(other than 5 pd weights) or much space to move(i live in a VERY tiny place)? I can't take Boogie out in the weather and I don't have the room for equipment,etc- but I need to start exercising.

I'm a huge Richard Simmons fan! I live in an apartment, so they definitely fulfill the space requirements. I believe all work-out videos should be led by short men in sequined tank tops just cause laughing burns calories too!

I'd recommend Disco Sweat. It's got some great music.

Well I have been so busy today I haven't had time to wrry about being hungry. In fact when lunch came, I really wasn't hungry. But I ate it (of course) a salad with ham and cheese, baked apples (cause we have so much fruit here) and sf jello.

Hoping to make chicken parmesean for dinner. and exercise, exercise all night long.

It is so nice to see all the newcomers and so many "oldies". Hope everyone sticks around awhile. We can do this thing. It is easy. (keep repeating that).

Trish, good for you starting back today. We can do this if we stick together.

Gracious, welcome back. We have been wondering about you. I think that wagon is running over today, but that's ok. We can all fit.

Melf, WTG on 2 more lbs Sound like you have it together. Those jeans will be too bid before you know it.

Beth, come on get that positve attitude. You can do this. We will help you. It it terrible about all the car accidents this time of year. I just hate the fact that my kids are driving around out there. Worries me to death. Sounds like your new job willb e keeping you busy. Goody, you won't have time to eat bad things.

Linworth, glad you are back. You are not alone in the bad eating. We are all starting anew. Join right in.

Toni, Veggie soup sounds good. I'm going to make a pot this weekend. What kind of base did you use? I'm not a good soup maker. for you being OP 3 days. We are going to do this. I envy people with talent to make quilts and such. White Zif is all I like too. Red wine is so dry. I have found Riunite Lambrussco which is red, but it is sweet so it probably has sugar in it.

Mom2Marsh, Welcome to our board. This is a great place, lots of advise, support and friendship. SB is such a great way of eating. I have been doing it for 15 months & 92 lbs and will do it for the rest of my life. Glad you decided to join us. Get yuor friend to come aboard too. It is helpful to have a partner. Several people here do. I look forward to getting to know you. We have lots of Floridians here.

Serene, glad you are ready to jump back in the wagon. We all are going to get to goal this year. We can do this thing. Sorry to hear Tranquil is sick. Hope she feels better soon. Have always drank my coffee black. Glad I didn't start adding cream and sugar and would have to quit that too.

TV, glad to see you return. You are not alone in being bad. The wagon is overflowing. But we can do this. Clean out that pantry and come on back.

Heartmom, I hear great motivation in your post. You sound ready to do this. Remember, you have lost 50 lbs. That is nothing to complain about. That is awesome. Come on, we're getting to goal. I have the Leslie Samsone Walk of the Pounds. Haven't tried it yet but others have it and love it. I also have one of the firm tapes. Haven't tried it yet either.

Have a good nite everyone.

Jackie

Hey you guys, a lot of you Senior Members went off and cheated during the holidays....what's up with that? I started the 26th and except for maybe some little thing somewhere I think I pretty much stayed legal. Coarse I didn't go to any parties where they had lots of yummies and I wasn't going into an office that had lots of goodies either. So I guess I forgive you.

Jackie: Thanks for the kind words, I know that fruit is important and I just have to make more of an effort. Someone recommended buying frozen cherries etc and that does appeal to me. I am not big on apples and it seems every time I buy an orange it is a dud.

toni48: Thanks for the welcome, I do like this way of eating but it is early days yet and I still miss my illegals. I am definitely doing one day at a time. My dh is very good to me though and really is sticking to this with me which challenges me to do it also.

Debbie or anyone: where do you find fructose for baking/cooking. I have been looking with no success. Don't people use it in canning fruits? Help!

I am going to weigh in tomorrow. Cross your fingers....and toes....and eyes....and????

Debbie--Just wanted to make sure I have this right: We are meeting at Solshine’s on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, and we will have a SB lunch there. I just want to make sure I have the right day. Still not sure if I will bring the tomato tart (which sounds fabulous when I read the recipe) or beef with broccoli stir fry. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Jennifer--the pages are still loading the same. There is only one other site where the page loads the same way--all the other websites I visit load pretty fast. Since the change a few days ago the 3fc site seems to go blank while loading up. After 40-45 seconds or so, the page finally pops up. During the 45 seconds I am not able to do ANYTHING else on the ‘puter. I can’t quit or anything and am at the mercy of the computer that is loading the 3fc page.
Welcome to this new WOE for you. Hope you love it. I am one of the weaker ones who occasionally fall off the strict SB wagon, so my weight loss has been slow. Also, I have recently started on thyroid medicine because the dr. found that my thyroid was very slow. He said that was one reason I put on weight so easily and also had a hard time losing. It was so discouraging to work so hard and have hardly anything to show for it. Now that I am on a new dosage, I’m hoping that my exercising and proper eating will pay off. I took a 2 mile walk this morning and my DH and I will go out in the next hour and take another 2 mile walk this evening. One goal for this year for me is to walk every day, even if it is just one mile.

Well, I’ve got to quit. My hubby is calling to see if I can walk now. So have a great evening all. I’ll read the rest of the board later.

Default recipe...

I found this...it's sound like you could substitute agave and it would have a wonderful rich taste.....

Diet Chocolate Flavored Syrup (Diabetic)
Ingredients:
1/2 cup firmly packed cocoa powder
1-1/4 cup cold water
1/4 teaspoon salt
Sugar substitute equal to 1/2-cup sugar
2-1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon chocolate extract - optional

Directions:
Mix cocoa, water and salt in a heavy saucepan until smooth. Bring to a boil, and simmer gently, stirring constantly for three minutes. Remove from heat; let cool ten minutes. Add sweetner and vanilla and mix well. Pour into a jar, cover, and store in refrigerator. Stir in jar before measuring to use.

Yield: 20 servings.

Love,
Crystle

Default LOL...

Kat...I just did the disco sweat today... I love Richard. I went through burn out but after months of them sitting on the shelf they are fresh and fun again.

Heart Mom...disco sweat is fun. The Leslie Sansone video is good...and believe it or not I find her walk video more strenous than the Richard Simmons workouts..but both are excellent for various levels of fitness...and small spaces.

Hey Jack-K!!! Can you do a few exercises for me too? You mean it doesn't work that way...aww man.

Love,
Crystle

Hi all,
Just a quickie before I go to bed. I did fairly well today - could have done better. I did look on one of the other folders and someone said the new book says 5 grams of sugar per serving. And - someone else said white Basmati rice was okay - I thought all white rice was out!!!
