Hi Everyone,
WOW I can't keep up with all these posts....this is a busy board!!
I think I have been doing pretty well...I had a few minor slips. I really like the Uncle Sam cereal....it really fills me up.
Deb
What is Ole Ole?? I so wish I had a Trader Joes around. I know there is one in New Jersey.....but the traffic in Jersey is not worth making the trip. Hopefully Fresh Fields will be good.
I don't know how much trouble it would be to separate the recipes into categories, but I think it would really help us newbies!
There are so many recipes on each sticky, I never make it all the way through and usually I am looking for something in particular.
Fruit
I hope your surgery went well!
When the doc told you that you had PF did he mention a cortisone shot? It worked wonders for me....no more sore foot when I step out of bed. Are the shoes you are talking about the black and white ones? I bought two pairs of New Balance sneaks and have to keep them on all day.
Hope you are doing good!
WIW is here....and I did not lose, did not gain..... I remain ever the same! 254.5 lbs. but next WIW - you all watch me, I know there will be a significant loss as not only will I have my cardio, I will be into my second week with the Personal Trainer and Deb will have me on the right track with my eating
Gracious: The 2 lbs will be gone, and so will the rest and that is great about the house coming along! I always feel terrific when the house looks good.... I am a home body - I want my home to be a comfort....a place of good feelings.... so I understand the glee and excitement that your house is looking good!!!!
Serene: I would be more than happy to swim in your pool now that it is so hot out there. Tonight you need to come over to my house after a good day of being OP and weigh...or go to Publix and weigh this afternoon? I have a pretty delicious meal
planned - a large Greek salad and a SB Meatloaf. That is if I can move my arms to mix the meat but I am walking tonight!!! Even if I have to have Fluff drag me!!!
Homeschool: Good luck this morning with your weigh in - Keep riding on that wagon and you will be so happy and proud of yourself!!!!
Tasia: Welcome to the group - it is a very wonderful source of help and support!!!
Nance: That is a good thing that the Dungeon Mistress is whipping you back into shape! You have done so well and I hope that you get out and there and March those pounds
off!!!
Mel - Phewww that is a good thing only $800 vs $2K!!! Hope you get back on track so we see you weigh in on next Wednesday
Bob - Loved the jokes - passed them on to my family for laughs!!!!
Jack-K - Hope it was not too stormy! I don’t like the storms either - especially since I moved away from up North, it seems when we have bad storms, out come the tornadoes!!! They scare the bejeebers out of me! That is awful about the house
being hit by lightening!
Yellow - you poor thing!! Good to hear from you again!!!!
Toni - Hope the weather cools down some for your trail ride - boy am I wish I could go on a trail ride! Hey, that would be a good reward for hitting a big goal - go horse back riding!!!
Country - Hopefully next week will be a good one and you can be down on the scale - along with this heat sure is making it hard to have energy!!!!
TaTa All, got to get busy at the office

OK, OK – I know it has been a long time since I posted, I’ve been a very bad girl!
We went on a short vacation to Dollywood in TN and the boys had a BLAST! It seemed all we did was eat and of course it wasn’t the kind of eating that ya’ll would be proud of!!
I started back full force on Monday with SB, so I hope to get back on track now.
Just wanted to check in and say hi for right now – its crazy here at work so I have to run!
Youngest DS's Tball team played game 18 last night, and continued their streak of wins!!!! That's 16 regular season wins, and 2 Tournament wins so far and NO LOSSES!!! I know, I know... hush already!! But I'm sooooooo proud of them! Last night was our toughest opponent yet, and it was the closest we've come to losing. Our kids aren't used to that and having to WORK for the win threw them off a little bit. Here is the link to their TBall Homepage if anyone is interested <g> OK Enough Bragging http://www.eteamz.com/mpracardinals/ (by the way... on the homepage, they have on white Tshirts over their Team Jersey because the White ones say 2002 Champions and have all their names on them... my son is the bottom left corner DH is second coach from the left, with the Tennessee Hat on)
Eating has been ok... Not nearly enough, and not enough water, but staying away from the no-no's! The schedule makes it sooooo hard! But I'm doing it!
Today is my Saturday... no work, no ballgames, hey... no kids! They went to my dad's for a couple of days... and DH went to work! I have a day to myself!! I 'could' clean the house, but what fun would that be? I'm gonna SHOP!!!!!!! Get myself outta this chair, get ready and go shopping till I drop! Of course I won't buy much... but hey, I'll at least get out of the house!
JENN - Be careful, I don't think Cheerios are legal... I remember reading the box. Don't worry, you're gonna look great for that wedding!!
TV - Great to see you posting!! I was starting to feel deserted by the Alabama crew!! How are ya doing? We should do lunch sometime, I know we keep saying that, but we need to TRY!!!
Well ladies, I'm off to spend a day doing absolutely nothing constructive and I'm going to LOVE every minute of it!!!
Bye
Good morning everyone.. Just got off my treadmill.... And I've lost 2 lbs. I'm so excited!!!! It gave me the inspiration I needed. Also walked last night at a campground..... I'm on a roll.... I here rumbles of thunder in the distance, hope I don't have to get off here fast.
Yellowrose- Oh boy I lost a good garden, and the food is so nice and fresh out of them. I didn't get mine out this year. boo hoo. By the time the rains had all came I got out of the mood... I have a hang-up about sleeveless tops to and have had for years. Even when I was down in weight. I think my sister and I got farmer arms from our grandmother..
Jack-K- Well now we've got the rain. But I'm kind of glad as it will cool things down a bit.
Orange Babe- Love you joke....
tasia- Just keep practiceing and you'll get the hang of it.... I can't remember the chats, next week I'm hanging me a note. You're sure doing good on SB. Yea for you.
Meliris-Oh my gosh, sorry about your air cond. thats a real bite.. Today is a new day so good luck. Hop right back on and yesterday is gone...
Nancemeister- Okay today is a new day, get back on the horse and take one hour at a time if you have to.....
Homeschooling Mom- Hope you do well today on the weigh in. Its really the start of a brand new week.... Good luck. Oh my gosh thats wonderful about your weight loss!!!!! Doing the weight loss dance for you.... What a neat scale you have....
Serene- Just be yourself here, thats all we all are, you're doing just fine. So you're having a whole life change, and won't the weight coming off feel great. Time for some you time......
gracious- Oh my gosh I hate when you do that. Get all your posts in and lose it. We were just having a rain storm and I was afraid lightening would start and I'd have to jump off. Yep gracious it did work. I think if we can get over the "I got to have it now's" we could do fine.. For some reason yesterday set a new motivation going...
CountryMom-Today is a new day and a new start... You're right that is part of the journey...
Debilli- I think thats good about your food. I think I do tend to eat the same stuff to. Not only is it easier but I keep slipping back into the routine of it. But once in awhile I get wanting a change... I bet I'd love the crustless spinach Quiche... Thank you for the suggestion. I agree with you Deb that this is a lifetime WOE and to be able to look forward to occasionly having a small treat is wonderful I think.
WIW was strange for me. The scale read 182, which puts me up two, but it’s TOM so I’m not worried. Then a minute later (I always weigh twice) it said 180. I’ll stick with the higher, since it’s probably more accurate. I had to resist the urge to hop on one more time just to see what it would say.
Got in to work, only to find they’d closed the kitchen on my floor without warning for all day today. They do this about once a month, when the company flies in guests. They use the kitchen to serve snacks and lunch to the fly-ins. The thing that gripes me is that they know weeks in advance when the kitchen will be closed, but do they post a note the day before warning us??? No! So I come in, knowing my food is already here for the day, and guess what? I can’t get it out of the refrigerator. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!
So I confess, I stomped downstairs in an angry fit and bought a flippin’ doughnut from the cafeteria. I feel really disgusted and angry with myself. I can’t let everyday setbacks ruin my lifestyle changes, but once that trigger is tripped, I don’t know how to reverse it. I DID go back down and get a fruit cup, to try and “undo” the earlier damage.
Called Dan to come rescue me for lunch. If I go to the cafeteria, I’ll eat junk. He’s taking me out for hot wings and a salad. I’m trying really hard not to let this morning’s slip ruin my whole day.
Serene – Welcome! Everyone here is very nice. It’s great that you have someone to do SB with… kind of a built-in support.
Jack-K – Sounds like walking in the morning would be better for your health! I’d hate to think of you passing out from heatstroke! On the up side, you wouldn’t need to pay for a sauna that way. I love thunderstorms. We never had many in California, so that’s something about Minnesota that I really like. It would not be fun having your house hit by lightning, though!
Heartmom – what a cute picture! Thanks for sharing.
Tranquil – how was the movie? I want to go see that soon. We’ll have to wait until Dan’s son is back at his mom’s, though. I don’t think it’s suitable for an 8 year old.
Toni – when I lived in California, and was on Atkins, I used to eat at IN-N-OUT BURGER all the time. They have a “Protein Style” that you could order – it’s not on the menu, you have to know to ask for it. They’d use lettuce leaves instead of a bun on any burger that you’d want. It was fantastic!!! I eat there anytime I go back to visit.
Yellowrose – your veggies sound wonderful! What else do you have besides the radishes?
BOB – funny virus warning!
Tasia – welcome! Congrats on the loss – great job!
Meliris – what is orange curd???
Nance – 106?? Ugh! But it’s the dry heat. I grew up near Fresno, so I remember those days!
Gracious – Sounds like you have the right attitude. Those pounds will come off! Hope the rain stays away for you this weekend.
HSMama – Yay on the loss!
Debelli – the seabass sounds yummy! Ick on the dessert. My current weight is 180-182, depending on what the scale decides to read… although I don’t know how I can lose 2 lbs. in the minute I stepped off the scale and back on again. I had a really hard time adding the legal starchy carbs back in my diet for SB. Atkins trained me well… it shouldn’t be too hard to wean them down again. Thanks for the help!
Chrisb – keep up the good work. The good thing about the slips is that you can learn from them, and how to avoid them the next time around.
TVthatsME – I’m new here, so haven’t seen you before. Love your Tigger icon!
Hi all. WIW is not a happy day for me. I am seeing the results of being bad lately. I'm at 154.5 which is 5 up from my low. I was doing really good this week till we ate at a church function last night. A lady at our church who is from the Phillipines cooked and you know I totally pigged out. But today I walked my 2miles while Sarah is at basketball camp, so maybe that will help.
Udate on my mom: She went to the oncologist Monday. He told her the same thing that the other drs have told her--that there is not cure and it's not real treatable. But he did say that they have had some good results with mild chemo. So she will go once a week for three weeks then see the dr the fourth week then repeat that cycle. There are no serious side effects--no hair falling out or feeling sick, so she's giving it a try. She's in very good spirits tho.
No way I can reply to everyone. I'm already too far behind. But....WELCOME to all the newbies.
Beth – Congrats on the wins! That’s SO cool! Enjoy your day to yourself. I treasure those days now. Cheerios aren’t legal??? Ack, I’ll have to run home and check the box – I was so sure they were!
Toni – You ARE on a roll! *happy dance for you*
TTFN,
Jenn (who is trying not to be grumpy in spite of herself)
Deb That's right Deb....I WAS walking this morning, and am now getting around to posting. I felt like I had 20 pound weights strapped to both ankles, but did it. Nothing worse than getting out the front door, and it wasn't cool AT ALL....already hot...ugh!
I think my sister said it's about a five hour drive from where she lives....so I could bring the ice chest to pack up with TJ supplies!
There's so many neat little places up there, I'm sure I wouldn't miss it....too much! I keep going on the weather channel web site and seeing that it's 51 degrees there and foggy, and am ready to take off! My sister in No Cal wants me to fly up next week, but as usual, I'm broke and on budget, so no extra $$ to have fun with. Maybe might try to go up next month with my other sister and take the pain and DRIVE! As long as I get to step foot in my future town...good enough for me. I think I look on the map and it's about 356 miles north of San Fransico.
Question....I found a recipe for some zucchini bread made with WW flour ....and it calls for 1/2c. sugar....how much agave or splenda can I use?
Tranquil Sounds like you are a woman on a mission....I'm sure by next week the metal monster will be good to you, since you've been so good
HSMama I'm sitting right next to you on the wagon, front seat! I got some fresh fruit I'm going to cut up and take as a snack along with some triscuits. I swore I'd get down my 8 glasses of water today as well! WE CAN DO IT!!!
Beth You know it's WIW and you know I need to know how you've done?!?!?!?! Why torcher me like this? Get over to your MIL or that store and see what the deal is!
Where's my Jack-K????
Here's the skinny....I told Dan the Man since he won't move me out to the country NOW, that we have to get out of town this weekend to the country. 45 minutes out of the caulderon (sp?)(witches cooking pot)
is a little piece of heaven where there are a u-pick-em apple orchards and hopefully the raspberries are ready. I'll pack a picnic lunch and there are always some trees to take a nice little nap under. Counting the days, hours, minutes til TGIF!!!
Serene and I went to see Sum of All Fear last night - I thought it was rivetting, scary that it was filmed before 9/11 and hitting so close to what happened - we sat in Stadium seating theater with great sound and huge screen! When there are blasts it is as though you are right there in the middle of it.... I like the actor that plays the CIA agent, John Clark - his name is Liev Schreiber - Yummy Man!!! hahaha
Oh - as for my Personal Trainer - speaking of Men - He is blondish/red haired, curly, probably late 20s, not tall, very fit, but not hulkish in any way, soft spoken, nothing to rave home about I like big viking types or tall, dark, and handsome - oooh la la.....
I'm dropping in for a quick post to let you all know that I made it through the surgery just fine! I have slipped and said a few words - do you know how hard it is to stay completely silent? Expecially when you are waking up from a demerol induced coma!
Heres the deal: About 12 years ago I was diagnosed with a deviated septum - which means that the bone in your nose is crooked and needs to be straightened out. Well, I went to see a plastic surgeon because I figured since I was going to have to have work done on my nose - I would just have the whole reconstructive surgery being that I didn't like my nose anyway. WELL - yesterday, the doc did my polyp and nodule removal first and then he went into my nose. What did he find? A mess! That other doctor had never straighted the bone in my nose - he had just done the reconstruction - can you believe that crap? He basically said that my nose was way worse than he expected. So, now I have gause taped to my face to catch the blood from my nose. I've got splints in my nose - which hurt like **** and I can't talk!! UGH!! I just can't believe that we paid that doctor 12 years ago to do what I had done yesterday!
So, basically that is it - everything looks real good now. Just the recouping that will take some time. Thanks for all of the prayers yesterday! I'll check back in between naps!!
Too lazy to open up my word processing app. so I'll just type a bunch of little messages.
Debbie--The easy way to seal your grout is to go buy one of those bottles that you color your hair with. The one where you have to snip off the end to get the stuff to come out. Then go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy the longest lasting sealer you can find and pour it into the bottle. Snip off just a tiiiinnny bit of the end at the point and then drag that tip along all the grout lines, squeezing as you go. I did my whole kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, hall, etc. in 30 minutes. It is definitely worth it. And not hard either.
I knew Boogie had the heart problem but didn’t know the extent of it. Are there plans for surgery in the future and can it be corrected?
GRACIOUS- Joseph received his 1st open heart surgery at 5 days old. They placed a shunt in his heart. He outgrew the shunt by 6 mo. old and had #2 open heart surgery. Right now he has a heart catherization scheduled for the 21st. This will determine when they will do #3 open heart surgery(will be soon). He will always have the heart condition and have some physical limitations(contact sports, extensive running). The surgeries are reconstructive surgeries designed for his right ventricle to do all the work. They can't tell you about longterm survival because 20 years ago these surgeries weren't around. And without surgical intervention, it is 100% fatal. If everyone remembers- Baby Fae, the one who got a transplanted baboon heart, had HLHS. I won't keep jabbering about his heart cond because it is off topic and might offend some people- but the bottom line is that he is a true miracle and I pray that he will outlive me and have a great life.
Hi Everyone! I just skimmed the posts, and hate that I really don't have time to answer people individually. Please don't forget me! I will be back for surenext week!
Yesterday, we finished the filo triangles and I took them to the friend who is going to bake them for me. My hubby and I ran errands last night, and were gone most of the evening, but it was great to have some alone time with him. We try to spend at least an hour a day by ourselves, but it doesn't always happen, and this week is only going to get worse. Spending that time with him helped me to regroup and feel better.
I checked out the Flylady page, and loved it! I went ahead and signed up and I feel inspired! I have tons to do to get my house cleaned by Friday, but we are making progress! I am such a clutter person! I am throwing things out...the house is getting its enema!
I did the program for the wedding this morning. I need to figure out how you list divorced parents in it. Both are remarried. It is a touchy situation tho...the stepdad is despised, and the step mom is very well liked. Can you leave off one and not the other? Not an easy decision.
My eating has been ok. I have had some lapses, especially when I am just too hungry, and have no time to prepare something, so I grab whatever is handy. I have not been too bad tho. I probably should have gotten on the scale this morning to see what is going on, but did not even think about it!
Ok, off to clean! The wedding is only four days away now! Guess I will go pour water on the lazy bride, and get her to get packed to move out! She has been dragging her feet on this chore...she inherited her mother's clutter disease!
Have a great day! Congrats to all the losers, and those who did not lose, I hope next week......
Thought I'd pop back on cause I had to leave so fast.... And wanted to see how everyone did over the last week...
Gatorgal- What a great idea for sealing gout....
fruitloupe- I'm so glad all went well with the surgery and you're on the road to recovery. Take it easy and have a good rest...
Tranquil-Can't wait to see the movie.... I hope its going great with your trainer...
Nancemeister- Pick me an apple... Sounds like a bit of heaven. I love a good picnic... Yea for the walking this morning... We got some rain so are now cooled off for a bit....
MusicTeach- 2 miles is great!!!!! This is our new week so we can do it...... Sure wish your Mother would have had better news. I hope the chemo helps..
Jenn in MN- Hurray for your loss... My new scale saids to step on it twice, that was in the instructions... I know In and Out burger, I used to eat there allot when I was in Calif. I didn't know the had that protein side... Wow..... My husband was a foreman in a shop that rebuilt antique show cars and they redid a beautiful 55 Cadilac for the family.
Well I caught back up.... Have a great afternoon....
