Good early morning all....and welcome Oraki...this is indeed a GREAT and the BESTsupport board....best of luck to you in your weight loss journey...

As for me, I am not doing FLEX points, never did like the concept. I'll be doing Winning Points where I have the range and NOT one target number...I am weighing in later today. Dont' expect much of anything though. Dont know if I 'held' on to my 'sick' weight loss, but I doubt it with the changing which seemed like every other day :-)
As for the last dreaded 10 lbs, I can say through experience they are the hardest, but they DO come off, so have no fear. I always say, if you work it, it works, no matter what program you choose. And Vickie is right we need to do what is right for us. I did do Core for 3+ months after promising myself I'd ONLY try it for two weeks.
I got the bagels in our Publix here, and they really are good. Just try a WW 2 pt bagel with a piece of grilled chicken....hhmmm hmmm good!! They also now have 1 pt bread and 1 pt English Muffins. Although Thomas' now makes a 1 pt Eng.Muf too.
All well worth it. After all you do have 35 WPA to 'play' with. So why not :-) :-)

Angela so glad your daughther is healing....poor baby!!! Hope she is well :-)
I will check back later, but till then have a great day....it's early yet 6:00 AM....
Linda

Hey All...Well today's w/i 133.3... LAST w/i 134.6 ( I said 135 cause I rounded it off, anything over .5 is the next bracket for me).
Yesterday first full day of Winning pts and only got to 19....oh well. My range is 18-23 in Winning Points. But I felt good and I felt like I had other 'thing's to chose from throughout the day, satisfying me and keeping me sane and ON program, and for dinner I had a Smart One with a bed of french style string beans, and it was soooo good. I actually enjoyed it. First convienence meal in months and it felt good And for snack I had a WW 2 pt bar, Chocolate Mint with the rest of my milk, and enjoyed every bite
Thanks Frannie for the kind words...even though I am trying to get these last few lbs off a different way, for now, I love this board and the comradary we all have.
Sometimes ya just have to shock your body and fake it out, so hopefully these next few weeks I will be able to do just that, a Valentine Day goal to myself. Then I'll get something RED
We are a very focused group here and the best is we are here for each other. There is always someone posting with encouraging words of wisdom.
I am already looking forward to next Saturday to see how I do...weird, huh....but you can bet I will be riding that scale all this week. The curiousity gets the better of me.
I have my day planned so I am good to go. I know I can 'have something' throughout my day as long as I write it before I bite it!! and stay in my range, and that I can do!! I am really ok with that. I journal anyway even on Core. Old habits die hard :-)
Have any of you tried the WW cereals?? I have tried the Flakes and Fiber and it is deeee-lish, nice and cruncy, and ...1 pt for 3/4 of a Cup, and on Core your FF milk doesn't count. Another product well worth 1 pt of 35 WPA's. Something different. That's me though I need variety :-)
I hope everyone here is having a great OP day out there....talk with you all later..........Linda

Ah ... I'm here to second what Linda says about those last few pounds. I'm struggling SO much and I know it's because I can just see the goal weight right over the horizon but never get there! WW says I weigh what I should and doesn't recommend additional loss, but my personal goal is to land smack on 140 and then see what happens. I've used FitDay forever to track my calories, etc., and this week (at least for the last few days) have been counting points just to see if I'm getting enough food. Sometimes I don't think I am.

Anyway, I think I'll do points for a week or so as well and see what kind of results I can get. I'm supposed to be at 20 but I always did a modified Wendie plan on my own, so I guess I really did winning points too! I vary it every day and then one day a week, have a BIG eating day. In the past that has gotten me over the hump. I'll still be here too and will read and post, but probably won't post my menus because there's no need to tell you I'm having a tuna sandwich and baked Lays if there's someone out there battling with staying away from that sort of thing. It would be totally mean of me.

Happy Saturday to all!

I just love you guys! Linda you and Kathy are so sweet to think of us struggling with Core while you try to work your magic with your own WP program. Believe me, if I see Baked lays too many times, I'd be wanting to have them. As it is, I'm craving a Subway tuna sandwhich. Crazy huh? I used to crave higher fat stuff than that. I think I'll be spending points for one this week. I do hope that you continue to post your low points finds since we can still spend our points for those if we want.

I hope that you both make goal soon. It must be so nice to have Core to fall back on if and when you feel you need a change. I always like the range in WP but I have to admit that I almost always at the top of my range! I just made such bad choices.

Welcome, Oraki! This is the best Core Support Board that I have seen ANYWHERE! No snipping or nastiness here. Just wonderful wholesome support. I hope you post often. I was surprised to see the "chick". At first I thought I goofed up and changed my loss to 30 by mistake! Anyway, I don't know how far back in the boards you read but I, too, have another 127 to lose. I'm at 23.2 right now. I'm famous for mini goals that I feel I can achieve. I do not think about the ultimate goal at this point because it would be too overwhelming for me. I'm looking forward to reaching goal with you!

Linda, I just went back and reread posts and see that you did have a loss today. Congratulations! You WILL do it.

Frannie, good for you! That burger and fries will always be there if you REALLY want them. I'm so glad that your will power revved up and helped you at your meal. I went out to eat after weigh in Thursday night and ordered all Core at my favorite Italian restaurant that has Whole Wheat pasta. It was a delicious meal. Hubby laughed because I ordered an extra side of veggies (this place steams fresh veggies-can you believe it?!). Usually it's fresh green beans but Thursday it was fresh broccoli (which hubby will eat) and fresh cauliflower (which I love but hubby won't let me cook because he says it stinks!) It was a large plate of veggies (about 10 flowerets). I put my smart balance on and ate them first saying "yum, yum, yum". Hubby said "What's changed about this picture?" Even I had to laugh! I only ate half my meal and brought leftovers home for lunch yesterday. Core is really for me. I'm really noticing that my tastes are changing.

Well, so much for my resolution to get on the treadmill early. Here it is 3:30 and I haven't been on yet. Gotta go cause then I have to make my homemade applesauce and get ready to make dinner. Porkchops, baked potato and broccoli tonight with salad and applesauce.

Someone posted a resolution to try 2 new meals each week. I like this one so I'll be trying it too. My new recipes this week to try to make are Balsamic Chicken with Roasted Potatoes and Chipotle Chicken and Rice. I'm making myself hungry.

Gotta walk before I can have my Core smoothie. Today is chocolate banana!

Talk to you all later.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know I am reading all your wonderful and motivating posts but I am busy getting ready for vacation next week. I still have a number of items to embroider and pants to hem before I leave. I will have access to a computer while I am away and will most definitely continue to read your posts.

I am exercising pretty good but I am still having a problem getting back on track. It seems when I eat anything with Splenda it gives me a lot of gas. Has anyone else experienced this? That is one of the reasons I can't even eat the baked potato chips--it does the same thing. I am trying to think of items I can take on the plane that will be on program but will not give me this "gas" problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Well I had better get busy. Keep up all your good work!

Nita

Hi Nita, where are you going again? have a fantastic time. I am not sure what the answer is to the snacks, I think of all kinds of fruits but it depends if you are going out of the country.....which is out of the questions then. hmmm......FF pudding travels well, babybel cheeses? Ladies, we need to help Nita......any suggestions I am stumped. Have you tried Beano for the gas? Might be worth a try. Green Tea also helps soothe the tummy and peppermint.

Linda and Kathy you have such determination. I know you will zero in on your goal real soon. You know that it will just happen......bingo.....there you go. Keep up the good work!

Vickie, that restruant sounds marv. wish i were near there! I made my own pasta sauce tonight, full of any veggie I had in the fridge, served with whole wheat pasta and chicken........everyone just loved it.......now they will want me to make it again and i don't really have a recipe.....oh dear!

well, off to hockey. My son is playing in the all-star game tonight. Hope it goes well for him!

Cheerio ladies, ...... I have a new magazine that has a popcorn mixer using Kashi Go Lean cereal.....I will try and type it in tomorrow.......looks yummy! And have you read that WW is rated #1 of all weight loss programs! WOW!!

Nita, lucky girl. Have a great vacation! Maybe you'll even have more time to post. Is it a relaxing vacation or one of those where every minute is planned for you? Splenda doesn't give me any problems. I'd be in deep trouble if it did because I eat alot of it. I really like things sweet. I'd be a helium balloon, I eat so much of it. Are you sure it's the Splenda? I got gassy again after the holidays just getting back on Core. It's a gassy program all on it's own! My suggestion for the plane would be popcorn. Pop it and put it in ziploc bags so security can see through the bag. Baby peeled carrots would be another suggestion. They are sweet and can stand to be without refrigeration for a while. I'd also spend a couple of points on a good granola or energy kind of bar that I would eat with a nice cup of coffee. I used to fly for work pretty frequently and that's what I would do. I'd always make sure it was one of the real chewy kind because it would keep me satisfied longer. The hot coffee with the bar always helped too for some reason. Don't forget your bottle of water. I always carried my own on the plane because I would get so dehydrated. How long is your flight?

Frannie, I so admire you. I would NEVER try to cook without a recipe. Well, that's not entirely true. I don't have a recipe for my chili written down but I pretty much do the same thing every time. I like the consistency of a recipe but have NO creativity to create a dish myself. Congratulations to your Son for making the All Star team. He must be quite good. Hope he did well.

Time for breakfast. I keep eating my breakfast later and later! Gotta start going to bed before midnight! Have a great day. I'll stop back later as ususal.

Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for your suggestions--I will be flying to PA from Phoenix--it is about a 3 to 3-1/2 flight from here to Charlotte and then I will go onto Pittsburgh. I agree about the energy bar and I most definitely will take a couple of those. I also thought about a banana and yes, the popcorn idea sounds good too. It is going to be difficult to stay on program but I am going to try to at least maintain while I am away. I will be gone for 13 days so hopefully it won't be too bad. My daughter in PA has exercise equipment down her basement so that will give me some incentive to exercise while I am there. Hopefully it won't snow and I can go onto Cleveland on the 20th and return to PA on the 23rd. I will be flying home on the 25th.

Yes, I should be able to post while I am in PA.

Take care ladies and thanks again for your words of wisdom and encouragement!

Default newbie joining in!

Hi everyone,

Newbie here trying to catch up with all my new Core support buddies!! Sounds like you are a great and very supportive bunch!

Just completing day 2 of Core and so far so good - but I am REALLY HUNGRY esp in the evenings? is this normal? or just a result of less calories as my body readjusts to some "controlled" eating rather than the "free for all" it's used to?? What if I am eating too much and won't lose weight? or (HEAVEN FORBID!! ) what if I gain weight? I am trying to eat what I "need to feel satisfied" but I think that is sometimes open to interpretation???

Have already posted a weekly menus thread which I hope everyone will join in so I can get some more menus ideas!

When do you "restart" your thread? (like every week or every month?)

Nita - have fun on your trip - sounds like you have a "plan" which should help. I also pack my own snacks when flying - you never know what you'll end up with if you don't!

Frannie - where in Ontario are you? I'm in Ottawa - hi neighbour!

Will try and check in later or tomorrow!

Froufy

I have a certain time of day that I get really hungry/munchy. For me it happens to be between 2 and 4 pm. I just make sure I have a snack set aside for that time - either popcorn, or fruit, or something satisfying that is my special treat. I've looked at your menus, and they look fine. Make sure you're sticking to the good health habits. I've noticed that for the first week or two after I start a diet, I'm really hungry. Then my stomach shrinks, and I'm OK. I think our bodies get used to larger amounts of food than we really need, and then start demanding that amount after a while. We need to retrain our stomachs. : ) If you're really worried about it, maybe count the points of your Core food, and see if you're staying in your correct range.

Froufy, good to see ya! If you are being careful with your portion sizes and staying on program, I've been told by my Leader that you will get hungry every 2-3 hours. When you get hungry, you should eat. I love Core! My snack in the afternoon is usually some type of smoothie. 1 cup skim, banana, 2 ice cubes in the blender. I also use frozen fresh fruit alot like black cherries, peaches, strawberries. If frozen I use 1/2 cup of fruit and no ice. I'm a sweet freak so I always add Splenda. I always have a dessert in the evening or popcorn after dinner. Don't worry, you'll lose. You are feeling what all of us felt in the first couple of weeks. If you are honestly watching your portion sizes and stopping when you are satisfied, then you'll definitely lose weight. When is your weigh in?

I'll go post my menu for today and I'll try to be good for a while so you can see what we are all eating. I eat about 5 times a day, it's just not huge quantities.

I have to admit we are bad about starting our new Core Support Board thread. Janette usually does it for us when it gets too long. It doesn't bother me how long it gets because I always just click on "view last unread" and it takes me to the first new post in the thread!

Hello there Froufy and welcome to CORE Board! This is a fantastic bunch and I get a lot of support from these ladies. They are just awesome. I live in a small village on Lake Huron. I do go to Ottawa a few times out of the year for business; always nice to get away but then it is always nice to get home too! I started CORE the first week of October. Only 2 times did I have a gain......once it was .4lb and the other (over the holidays and a 2 week span I gained .8lb but the next week I had big losses. It absolutely works. The first month on CORE I made a lot of that Veggie soup in the book and I would eat that when I got those hungry spells. Now I take fruit for my snacks before and after lunch and tomorrow I am taking a ziploc of popcorn.....I found some Kettle Corn to try! Can't wait!

Nita......have fun on holidays. I graduated from Beaver Pennsylvania High School many many years ago but it seems like just yesterday! This past summer was the first I had gone back to see the old neighborhood. WOW is all I can say.

Vickie, my son did really well in the All Star Game. He played the first half and only 2 goals got past him. The score ended up being 7-6 for the other guys. Close game and very entertaining. He had a good time. Thanks!! You know, my mom and grandmother were known for cooking without recipes. I guess I picked that up. Although I am not as good as Granny was.....man she could whip up an awesome Chocolate Pie......yummmmm the memories. I made some of those egg muffins tonight for breakfast this week. Or lunch! They look really good. Almost had one fresh out of the oven .....

I better go and get caught up. Chat with everyone later,
Have a Great Monday!

More snow and freezing rain on the way to Chicagoland. I'm sick of winter already and it is only January! I don't know how you do it Frannie.

Well, early treadmill for me today. Need to make a grocery list and get out before the storm hits. I'm almost out of fresh fruits and veggies. Don't want to have that lame excuse to eat bad!

Hope you all have a great day!

Last week I lost .2 of a lb.which is fine with me because I'm in it for the long haul. I'm hoping this week to hit the 25 lb. total lost mark. Have a great day everyone.
