Zoey-love the picture.

I went to Pilates tonight. This is the first class I've been to since I hurt myself. I could do almost everything. The teacher even commented that I had lost weight since she last saw me. Apparently there is something really noticeable in the past month or so because everyone says something now. Today is my 1 year anniversary.

Charlie--I know you aren't always crazy about getting advice from me but I am trying to be helpful. Based on what limited information we know about what seems to motivate people to lose weight from the national weight control registry, those who are motivated by major health factors (like diagnosis with an illness, turning the same age as when their parent got an illness or died, etc) or by major life altering events (like your spouse leaves you) seem to be more likely to make the major psychological change required for longterm weight loss more often than those who are looking for more "superficial" rewards like wearing smaller clothes or looking good at a class reunion or for their wedding, etc. I don't know what your motivations are so I'm not passing judgement here, I'm just telling you what the studies have shown. Personally, I'm a strong believer in the addictions model for this as well and believe people need to reach a "bottom" where they simply don't want to go on living with their out of control eating anymore and are willing to do what is necessary to change it. That's my personal opinion about this--not everyone would agree with me there.

isnt that funny.. well umm odd, that some days everyone u see says "wow u sure have lost weight" it sure helps with the motivation!

Wow 1 year... has it gone by fast for u Petra? it sure has for me! tho i have to say i was hoping to be in Onederland by now..(val is knocking at the door!!!!) but .. as they say slow & steady.. I am not gonna feel bad about not being lower... cuz I know i have stayed on track & i am doing my best!

yes i would have to agree with u Petra... you have to be ready to just do it..
tho i notice i have have a few of the "factors" so maybe that is what keeps me going...
well those and wanting to get slim and find a tall handsome rich man with a farm.. so i can quit working ... {dream on Lisa....} ha ha

I hope your weather isn't headed our way Val. We seem to have spring approaching. My bulbs are trying to come up.

My abs are sore from pilates the other night but I suppose that is a good thing.

Good Morning PIC's!! Not sure why I'm up so early but there ya go!!...hehe, just enjoying my cup of coffee and popping in here. Last night there was so much wind that the basketball hoop toppled over and just missed dh's car. Needless to say, we'll need to weigh that thing down so more!! Today so far is doom and gloom.....rain rain and more rain.

Adding to my 2006 list of accomplishments......I held a scorpion last night at ds boy scout meeting!!! It was a choice of box A or box B....(sort of like lets make a deal game show) and this snake expert guy was giving a great show.He was pulling up boys who were listening to some of his snake facts. Ds came over to me and I repeated the phrase to him and then he raised his hand and was asked the question. **Do any of you have the intuition that in a split second you know how something is going to turn out?** Instantly when I repeated the phrase to him, I JUST KNEW when he raised his hand that he was going to be called on....KNEW that I was ALSO going to be called on!!! It was all very slow motion for me......VERY FREAKY!!! Anyways....back to the boxes......of course you don't see whats in the boxes but ds rated it A "1" (aka soft fuzzy bunny) to "10" very scarey critter. Of course part of the show is to emphasis the scaryness of the snakes (although harmless) but box "B" held a tarantuala!!! So I took the scorpion, wish I had held the tarantuala now though. VERY COOL!!! He had a 10' albino python, and a 6' baby green anaconda (among other snakes) turns out that ds was soooo excited he could hardly get to sleep!!! hmmm I wonder why? It was great fun and a nice change from the rather boring pack meetings!!! I'll have to get some of those pictures.

Hi PIC's,

It's me, the wandering iwmonn Things are going ok here. No big funk or depression. Just stress lmao. What's new?
Our weather has been up and down. The river threatened to flood which means about half our staff leaves work so they can get home before it happens... (it's a regular occurance in heavy rains w/high tides). Sooooo I worked some doubles. Now, listening to the weather this morning, we are looking at another cold snap. Snow to 2000 ft. Now remember ladies, I live in freakin' California heheeh... ON THE COAST. When I moved here, I gave away all my coats- fortunately, I do love a good storm. Isn't Mother Nature AWESOME?

You are all doing wonderfully!

Val~ All I can say is WTG Girl! Another # down. Look at all those eggs.

Zoey~ What a lovely picture! It's always so fun to put the faces to the posts! Thanks.

Petra~ I really enjoy your informative posts. Sometimes, I admit, they are not what I want to hear especially when directed at a question I've asked or a comment I've made- I realize your intent is not to snipe, belittle or nag- but to help, based on more educated knowledge and your personal experiences. Anyways for all the research you do.
I sure hope those abs are feeling better soon.

Angel~ Wow, your accomplishments are growing by leaps and bounds! And it's only March!! lol. Yours sounds like a great life. *shudder* I found a scorpion in the yard a couple years ago... just thinking about it now makes me a lil freaky. lol *singing* I don't like spiders and snakes!!! Congrats on another pound!!!

Curly~ hmmmmm tall handsome man with a farm.... I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya lol... you never know where they'll be hangin out

Gwena & Beatlesfan & Charlie to ya all. Keep on keepin on Ladies!
