The controversery over cardio over resistance training is almost as heated as the one over low fat vs low carb. Both have their benefits and I suppose it depends who you ask. The trainer I was working with felt strongly that you really needed to include both in your workout because they bring different benefits--increased muscle mass which increases BMR from the resistance training and the pure calorie burn from the cardio. I'm becoming a bigger believer in the exercise piece. It is not my area of expertise and in fact I'm going to have to hire someone to write this part of my weight loss program. It appears to play a much bigger role in maintenance than in actual weight loss which makes sense to me so I need to get on this bandwagon as I get closer to goal.

Ive never done this before so this should b a real trip! it starts at 530 friday evening and you walk till 6 am the next day (well someone from your team has to be on the track at all times)

Charlie! You CAN do it One of the things about ww is that there is room on the plan for, or even an occasional . You just have to plan for it! It's not easy, but if I can do it, anyone can lol.

Petra~ thanks for the info. I had no idea it was that controversial. I'm going to try to add both into my daily routine. ummmmmm.... where might the stability ball fall into the equation. lol. I have one of those in the closet too I've found a couple of sites with good instruction for routines with that.

Curly~ the relay sounds like so much fun! I used to love doing the breast cancer walk, or the Light the Night for Lukemia... My sister did the Team In Training Marathon for Lukemia a few years ago. She walked it. she has become a Mentor every year since then. She loves it too.

I got the batteries for my HRM so i'll be getting it ready to start using tomorrow. I'll just have to see how accurate the machine ones are. LMAO- With all this stuff I have just laying around, one would think I've been at this for a while...... oh maybe like 35 years

Oh..... I went to weigh in tonight. Our leader was sick so it was going to weigh in and go home .... but then the scale wouldn't work either I'm really bummed cuz I was really feeling good about the week. *sigh*

night Ladies. I'll check back in tomorrow

charlie: I thought "men in black" would be a good movie to choose cuz you could wear cool shades and one of those t shirts that looks like a suit! then your entire team could do a little dance step to the song... maybe even play it on the boom box..

Angel way to go down another lb!!!

THE EGGSCELLENT EASTER EGG EXSTRAVAGANZA!!

TODAY MARKS THE HALF WAY POINT!!! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET 25 EGGS FOR MAKING IT TO THIS POINT ... HOWEVER.. WE HAVE WORKED REALLY HARD SO I THINK WE SHOULD GET A 100 EGG REWARD!

make sure u add 100 eggs to your totals today!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm checking in from the library. My internet went down again yesterday. I still need to put up my eggs from yesterday and today but I don't have all the info here. I'm so fustrated with this net thing! I need my fitday and 3fc!

It's snowing here and we're supposed to get a few inches! I'm keeping up eating well and working out! Hopefully my net will be back up today so I can update my fitday and eggs!

(((everyone))) keep up the great work!

Petra u may have seen this b4 i found it online:

1-Minute Muffin

In a tea cup,

Melt 1 or 2 tsp of butter or coconut oil (microwave for 5-10 seconds*)
Mix in 1/4 cup of flaxseed meal (and/or mix with almond meal, protein powder)
1/4 tsp of baking powder
1 egg
Sweetener to taste (i.e., 1-2 packets of Splenda or 1 TBS of SF syrup)
Microwave on high for 1 minute*
Turn out and let cool

The muffin may look kind of wet at first, but it dries quickly as it cools.
Eat warm with butter or wrap cooled muffin in plastic to eat later.

*cooking time may vary depending on your microwave, avoid overcooking
Using butter and truly carb free sweetener, such as liquid splenda or DaVinci syrup:

239 Calories
19 gms fat
18 gms carbs
17 gms fiber

Resulting in 1 net gm carbs.

If using powdered splenda, add 1 -2 gms of carbs, depending on how much used.

(they say if u leave out the sweet items it makes a great bread for a sandwich or dinner roll)

Curly-have you tried it? It doesn't sound very appetizing.

I had a terrible day at work yesterday. Sometimes I can't stand my job. Believe it or not, it usually isn't the patients that are the problem, it's the politics. One of my collegues is out sick right now. I think I've mentioned that he has been ill. He had surgery this week and hopefully will be back in a few weeks so we are all chipping in and covering for him. Well, I got a phone call from someone in administration asking me if I would "cover" some of his patients from a local university. Of course I said "sure". I was a bit suspicious about the person who called me because this is a pure administrator (a bean counter), not even a clinical person. Well, I saw my first student yesterday and it turns out that this situation is not at all how it was presented to me. I'm being completely taken advantage of. These aren't even my collegue's patients. The university appears to be seeing this as a way to get students in to see a psychiatrist quick so my schedule is getting stuffed with them. I called the administrator back and let him know that I had been misled and I didn't appreciate it. I'm not sure who is telling the lies here--the university or the administrator but I'm angry. I don't mind doing my part to help out for my collegue but that's not what is happening here. This is the kind of stuff that makes me hate my job.
