(((Michele))) A funny story isn't going to help, probably, but neither will food.
But, you asked for it. One of my favorite students, a couple years ago, came into my office and said, " I have a headache, do you have any adderall?" He meant Tylenol, but he could have used the adderall just as much.
Thanks for the story, Georgette.
I had a first grade student yesterday ask me if we had any Ricky Ricardo books in the library. I had to ask him to repeat himself 3 times because I was so sure I was not hearing him correctly.
Michele, I'm so sorry you are saying goodbye to Wilbur. {{hugs}} We lost two cats this year. Pepper was like Wilbur where we had a long time to make the decision. Lacy was sudden, as she suffered some kind of hemorrhage and paralysis of her back legs about 6 weeks ago. "Friends are like the stars , you don't always see them but you always know they are there". Thanks for being such a good cat mom for Wilbur.
I'm sorry for your losses, Alice. Wilbur and Charlotte were the best two kitties ever (brother and sister). Charlotte died about 1.5 years ago and Wilbur grieved her deeply. Wilbur has been a hard decision because he's so nice that he just keeps purring, so it's hard to know that he isn't well. Charlotte started hiding when it was time, but Wilbur still wants full attention. However, his breathing is so labored that we know he isn't comfortable and it's time. Now I'm worried about how Dewey will take it-- he's Wilbur's best bud-- my dachshund-- they curl up together in bed and clean each other! We will get more kittens down the road-- planning on two siblings again, but not anytime soon.
Got through my DH's Christmas event with minimum damage. Ate a lot of gravlax. They served snacks, rather than a dinner or a buffet and I stayed with the proteins. Not a vegetable or a salad to be seen. If there was dessert we left before it came out. I didn't drink anything except diet cola and that made me stay awake rather too long after we came home. Big nap this afternoon.
Dagmar, sounds like you managed the holiday snack minefield well.
I threw a party last night. It was "a rager". Up late, lots of drinks and dancing. I was so busy bartending, I didn't notice the food till quite late, and then I just nibbled. I'm sure I drank about 1000 cals though.
I got a jar of "Christmas" granola as a gift from one of my clients. She made it using spices like cinnamon and nutmeg and with craisins and currants. Really interesting flavours and it's great sprinkled on my nightly snack of a small container of vanilla yogurt. I'm using my measuring spoons to get a tablespoon of the mix. Keep forgetting I have measuring devices for portion control!
I've been struggling again, the last few nights, with before-bed eating. Last night it was turkey. The house was full of people at bedtime for me, and so I didn't have the mental space to even think about using a tool. Hoping for a more aware bedtime routine tonight.
Two more jars of granola - must be a "Christmas gift thing" this year! Gonna "donate" some of it to the local birds and squirrels - too high fat for me.
I've just been getting cookies and candy towers, no granola. I'm trying to forget the existence of the junk food as it sits on the counter in the kitchen at the office. Granola I could put on my oatmeal. Maybe. I tend to eat too much of it. LOL
