Occassional use would not derail you on P1 in my opinion. But yes great for maintenance forsure, or anyone living the low carb lifestyle.
I'm going to disagree.
Ive spent years breaking rules and not sticking to diets.
I've learned IP is simple and easy to follow but the plan is clear. If we start adding things, we may still be on a low carb plan but we're not on IP.
I had incredible success following the rules as they are written

Wraps can be made from romaine leaves, IP pancakes, or cauliflower pancakes and they'd be entirely OP!

Wk 2: 4.6lbs - 3"

The protocol is not written in stone and everyone is free to make their own choices. My weight has been coming off beautifully as you can see below in my ticker. I am only trying to help others by sharing what has been working for me. I find that there is alot of hostility in this forum the minute you mention you ate something "not allowed". Disappointing....as I think we should be respected for whatever decisions we decide to make on our own individual weight loss journey. It would be different if I was suggesting to eat white refined wraps or something...but low carb high fibre tortillas? These things have better nutrition stats then alot of the IP foods!

I agree. Maybe we need a thread for those of us that "Modify" the Ideal Protein diet for whatever reason. Given how many different answers the coaches themselves give, there is some room for interpretation. There is a no cheating thread for people that want to follow the paper word for word... what about a thread where people can talk about choices/modifications and not have to be worried about being lectured or scolded? We each have to find a way to make this work - long term or short term - for ourselves.

i agree that s seperate thread could be very useful.. personally it certainly deosn't matter to me what people eat and change, etc.. but Ideal Protein is very restrictive and I fel it;s hard enough to learn the rules and how to cook different things, I would hate for others to think its ok to eat things that aren't approved and not know it - that would be mine only concern.. so a seperate thread would eliminate that problem.

WTG Great losses! Do you tend to eat the same things every day? or use a lot of recipes? Just curious?

That is an interesting interpretation.
We have people come to this forum every day who are new. Some have coaches, some don't. Some understand the program. Some don't. One person this week thought we were supposed to eat 2 c. veggies/day.

A person who has been on IP for a long time and has lost 109 lbs is just trying to make sure everyone knows for sure what is allowed on the protocol. If someone makes a choice to stray from protocol, that is their prerogative. But we always need to make sure newcomers know what is protocol and what is not.

Yes! I would be all for a new thread! Thanks Ladies for suggesting such a wonderful idea! However I am not sure I am the one to create it as I know alot of the senior members are not supportive of my posts?? I was seriously starting to think I was the only one who does small modifications. I agree, I would not want to derail someone else's losses eithe..nor give any newbies the wrong idea...but I would like a spot where I can talk about small changes I make/add or about phasing off without worrying about what some of us may think. I think some of the ideas I have had and done will help alot of others as well...if I could just have the right to speak about them!

Let's everybody take a deep breath. Reading the wisdom of those who have many many more months on IP than is a very valuable tool.

I also enjoy reading what "newbies" are going through because I may encounter concerns I have had. Sometimes it is also fun to share "wooooppps" because we can laugh with each other.

We are all from different places in our lives, age, and weight. We come from different locations, diverse backgrounds and varied experiences. We can work with those differences if we just breathe a little when we read anything that maybe strikes us oddly.

REMEMBER the intent and consider that when we read others' entries. There should be no need to break off and start different threads out of frustration or anger.

This site is a learning experience for all of us in so many ways. It is also a SUPPORT mechanism which can be very important to our success is becoming healthy. That should be the driving force.

Thank you to the wise ones who nudge me into making this program the best I can make it. Thank you also the other 'newbies' who are building a new network to encourage greater success.

Hi all,

Congrats to all on their losses this week and on sticking with the plan - it works!

Today I went to a friend's wedding and stayed OP, enjoyed socializing and celebrating without feeling like food or drink was important to make that happen!
