Well, I am on a roll! I did ANOTHER painting today. Its of my friends two year old. I think I will send it as a surprise to her. They moved away and I really miss them!
I hope I can sleep tonight. Tom and I have been moving furniture around. My sister is coming to visit next week with her daughter in law, and five month old grandson. Her son is a Marine and stationed in Japan. Can't wait to get my hands on that baby! lol! Eating was good. I walked this morning, got in the pool for 15 minutes this afternoon, and then walked around the house while cooking dinner. (the living room, dining room and kitchen make a circle...) Off to bed! Good night! |
Good morning ladies.
TGIF and boy do I mean that one. It's been a long week. I just hurt all over, guess it is due to being off my meds for surgery. This time next week, I will be going in. DH wanted ribs last night so we went out to eat, but the good thing was we split a dinner. I wasn't stuffed and I enjoyed something I like w/o a lot of guilt. Ellen, can't wait to go to FB and see the pic of Tom. Great job on your loss. It was 48 here this morning. It felt so great. Crystle, congrats on your lb. Hopoe you enjoy your day. Mercee, wow going to the gym at 7:00 is tough. I would crash too, buth then again exercising that late would keep me up. Toni, I sometimes have a SF popcicle or SF fudge pop at night. Try some popcorn or veggies and hummus. No plans for the weekend other than a birthday party on Sunday for my great niece. Have a great weekend. |
Good morning ladies:
Toni- We have beautiful mornings here now since the weather is cool in the morning. Saturday and Sunday it is suppose to be back to the 90's. No I don't work out twice a day. I just do 5:30 in the morning if I have a busy evening which usually is Tuesdays and sometimes Thursdays. Solly made a great suggestion I usually do the 94% fat free microwave popcorn in the evenings if I am starving. It usualy doesn't even bother my blood sugar which is a good thing. Ellen- G;ad you are really enjoying your painting. Solly- Hope you are feeling better. Glad you enjoyed your dinner with your hubby. Have a great day and weekend everyone. |
Happy Friday everyone. Thanks for the suggestions of night eating things. I'll get out the popcorn. Wish I had some sugar free pops. Eating has been good and I did have some wine last night. Love the weather. To bad its going to be back up tomorrow.
Solly- I love ribs. I think I'll take out something to grill tonight. Sounds like maybe you can have some relaxing time this week end. That's hard not taking your meds. Is your surgery next Friday? Ellen- Hope you got a good nights sleep. Your walking sounds good. I need to do more of that. What a wonderful gift your painting will be. Mercee- Have a great week end. Or do you have to work? Better make something to eat. |
Hello! I have been horribly keyed up the past two days, tense, and stressed and I am not sure why. The scale has been a wonder. I hopped on this morning and I was down three more pounds! This puts me in a new decade and a place I have not been in maybe 20 years! The only problem is I can NOT explain why I am losing. I wonder if I should be concerned?! I have eaten more today than I have the past few days, and I found that when I ate more, it seemed to help the tense feeling..like maybe I feel bad because I am actually kind of hungry? Who knows. I spent 30 minutes exercising hard in the pool so I feel good about that.
I can't find anything I want to paint and I am kind of upset by that. I have flipped through art books, all my pictures and I just have not found what I want to do next. I think I am obsessed! We are going to keep our grandson tonight while my daughter and her husband go to an adult birthday party. I am looking forward to seeing him! He decided he wanted to talk to me this morning, so they called and put the phone on speaker. He jabbered away, but it was hard to understand, and the concept of phone still escapes him a bit...he was trying to 'show' me things with the phone! haha! |
Hi, do you mind if I join you guys? I've been sugar-free (no sweeteners, no honey, nothing just the occasional fresh fruit) for about a week and a half and it's really made a difference! I'm not sure how much I've lost so far but I can sure feel the difference in my energy levels and also I've gone from hungry all the time to not having cravings anymore. Otherwise, DH and I (we're losing together) haven't gone on a strict diet or anything. We're just working on making better choices and listening to our bodies with what makes us feel full and what foods make us feel sluggish afterwards (for instance, we had pizza once and we could feel the effects of it for two days afterwards!). |
:welcome:: to Sugar Busters Running. We're glad to have you. Its a bit slow on the week end. We go by the old Sugar Busters book. And cut out also white rice, white flour, white bread and replace it with whole grains. Along with the sugar, honey, and stuff like that. It sure does make a difference in how you feel.
Ellen- Hope you're feeling better. You sure are doing good. :bravo: Keep up the good work. Got up late so going to finish my coffee. |
:welcome3: Running! We would love for you to join us! Isn't it amazing how good you feel when you get away from the sweet and artificially sweet stuff? I would much rather have a teaspoon of real sugar once a month than cases of diet coke that make me crave everything in sight! Hop in, and tell us more about yourself! I am a potter/painter and I live in Georgia. I have three grown kids and two grandkids. I love to cook... I have struggled to lose for years and years and recently was diagnosed with very severe sleep apnea...well, the cpap machine for treatment has made a HUGE impact in my weight loss and I have lost almost 30 pounds now almost effortlessly. I am SO excited!
I need to head out and visit a friend in the hospital. She is in end stage progression of Scleraderma, a type of rheumatoid disease. |
Howdy
I am so excited. I finally broke a 14 minute mile on the treadmill. :carrot: My next mile was still under 14:30. I even ran at one point without feeling too overwhelmed. I thank God for helping me get stronger. My reward tonight is going to be a blue cheese and bacon burger. Not a big one, only 3 ounces and no bun.
Welcome Runningfromfat!! We'd love to have ya. This is a great group of ladies that have really helped me in my journey. Ellen...hope you get over the yuckies. I'm thinking you could paint a picture of Jesus. Wouldn't that be hard? Kinda your own version. I'm so excited about your weight loss. I didn't realize how much you'd loss. It has been flying off. :carrot::carrot::cheer2: You have worked SO hard to get to this place. If I could I'd give you a giant hug. You have proven determination pays off. Toni... What you been up to this weekend? The weather still behaving? Solly... WTG sharing your meal the other night. Hubby and I do that kinda..LOL He eats a whole dinner and half of mine. :dizzy: Mercee...Hope you are having an awesome weekend. ((Everybody)) Don't care how many boards or groups I join this one is the BEST!! Ya'll ROCK! Love and hugs, Crystle |
I just realized I have two days to lose four pounds to make my goal for Sept 1...I really don't think it will happen, but I am pretty happy I am this close! Since the second week of March I have lost 26 pounds. That works out to be about a pound a week. I will take it! :) Slow and sure...slow and sure. They say it stays off better if you lose slowly. Its funny though..if I look at pictures of myself from last June and then now, I really see the difference, but no one has noticed! I whined about that to my oil painting teacher and she quipped that it was because everyone was too busy looking at my paintings to notice! Made my day! :)
Going to the market tomorrow, then I have to clean for my sister's arrival! |
Good morning ladies,
I hope this is a short week so I can get on with this surgery. It is Friday mornng. I'm not wooried or nervous about it, hey I'll be asleep anyway. I'm sure it won't be bad. Ellen, wow, you have don great. Maybe your body is in starvation mode. Sometimes I find when I eat more food I lose, doesn't make since but I think it helps your body realize it is not starving. I'm people are noticing, after that much you would have to. Some people are afraid to say things. How about painting prictures of your other grand children. Toni, I had some wine to yesterday and boy did I miss it. Yes my surgery is this Friday. It was cool here but the heat is back. Crystle, WOW you are doing great on your waliking. Keep it up and you will be able to do a 10 minue mile. My Dh ususally shares my dinner and eats his too and anyone else that didn't finish theirs. Mercee, hope you had a great weekend Running, welcome to our group. It is a great group of ladies. All of us have been around for awhile so you can get some good help if you need it. Gots lots to do this week so I had better get started. Have a great day. |
Thanks everybody for the welcome! I didn't actually realize that this was from a book but I should pick it up. Although what you described is pretty much exactly what I do. I've given up all sugar and artificial sweetners and try to eat just whole grains (although I do get the occasional white bread simply because we only buy fresh bread and sometimes they don't have whole wheat available). I'm actually planning on starting to bake my own bread soon so that should help.
A little about myself. I'm a mom of one very hyper toddler! Basically, I'm trying to lose this baby weight and DH is losing right along with me. We run almost every day and try to do some strength training too. I'm also an academic so that keeps me pretty busy and means we travel quite a bit too. Today's been a bad day. I actually haven't cheated but it's probably the closest that I came so far. We have a 6 hour flight tomorrow and have a ton of things to get done along with a sick todder, so it's been really stressful. I'm just working on resisting and it seems the worst is over so I'm proud of myself for not giving into emotional eating! I do have one question for you experienced ladies. DH's birthday is coming up and we've both cut out sugar... any thoughts on a good birthday dessert? I was thinking of some sort of fruit/nut pie? I could probably make my own whole wheat crust but I'm not sure how to do the filling. I found this website: .sweetsavvy.com/ and the pecan pie looks good but I have to admit, I'm really scared of making it because even using natural sweeteners might lead to binging. I'll have been sugar free almost 2 months then... but I still wonder if it's too soon? |
Good aftrenoon
Don't know what got into me this morning. I woke around 5:30 and just kinda lounged for an hour or so. Actually got my bootie in gear to get an outside walk. After that we also shot our bows. Just finished a yucky tuna sandwich. Not exactly what I wanted but I needed some protein.
Oh and I did end up eating my burger with thin tops last night. I went into dinner with only 274 on my calorie count so I wasn't too worried. I didn't quite finish it but my sweetie came to the rescue. Running...sounds like you have a very busy schedule. I'm tired just reading..LOL Sounds like you are doing great staying away from the sugar and artificial ones as well. I gave up splenda earlier in the month so I treat myself with one teaspoon of sugar in my coffee milk in the mornings. It helps me not feel deprived and it is not overly sweet to make me crave more. I can't think right now of anything for a birthday dessert or than a cheesecake made with agave but I don't have the recipe handy. I'm you could find one online. Solly...praying your week goes fast and your surgery and recovery go off with out a hitch. Ellen...shame on them for not noticing. With a 30 pound loss I know you look different. And I'm sure you feel different. Are you still eating gluten and vegan? Toni...Thanks for being excited with me yesterday. I tried to get hubby to be excited but he was busy..LOL Mercee...hope you are having a good Monday. ((Everybody)) Love and hugs, Crystle |
Hi Ladies:
How's everyone? I had a busy weekend but I really enjoyed myself. Solly- I hope Friday comes fast for you. I'm glad you will be out of pain. I'll be praying for you. Crystle- Great job on your walking. You are doing great. Ellen- Great job on all the weight you have lost. You are doing a terrific job. Running- Welcome!! We are glad to have you. Toni- Hope you are having a great day. Well back to work ladies. Have a great evening everyone. |
I talked to my sister this afternoon and she told me they may leave tonight and drive straight through, getting here around 10-12 noon...YIKES! I have so much cleaning and arranging to do! It will probably not get done.
I have not had time to paint since I have been preparing for company. I have been thinking maybe I ought to do my kids...from baby pictures?! That might be fun. The trick is finding good pictures to use. Tom is trying to convince me to paint local landmarks. Eh...doesn't really appeal to me though. I went to the market, then went down the street and visited with my neighbor and her sister who has a terminal illness. She is such a fun quirky little woman...I was pleased that she decided to visit with me as her sister told me she was probably not up to visitors. COUNTRY: I am eating mostly gluten free and vegan. Tonight I ate some sole filets. I did some research on the man who wrote the book that got me eating vegan and found he was at one time the head of PETA. I am all for ethically treating animals, but there was a lot of information questioning his research methods that backed up his findings of a vegan diet for different health concerns. A plant based diet DOES help, but it is not necessary to leave off fat free dairy and very low fat fish or chicken to get the same results. So, I have moderated it a bit. I still eat a lot of beans, and veggies. I like it. It feels good not to have to obsess over it though. RUNNING: I want to start running! My husband is a barefoot runner....he LOVES his run. I want that euphoria from running...its been very hard to overcome my huge lazy streak! :) Have a good trip! SOLLY: I only have two grandkids..and I have painting them both! I can always do more, and I have considered it. I want to do my niece, because I love her skin tones! What I really want is someone to pay me money to paint a portrait for them. Interested in letting me paint a portrait of your grandson? :) Praying for you and your upcoming surgery. Have you gotten your cpap machine yet? MERCEE: My sister is coming from Oak Park! Next time I am up there, maybe we could meet for lunch...I met a number of old members on here and it was kind of neat to really meet face to face. When I was the moderator, I met a bunch of the other mods and the owners of the board and that was a lot of fun! Anyway, good going on your workouts. TONI: Where are you? Miss your posting today! |
Just a drive thru, time to go home. It has been busy here and we have 2 bids the rest of the week and I am trying to get things lined up for when I am gone.
Just one note, Running, there is a fabulous cheesecake on the recipe board, it's "Deb's cheescake" it is wonderful. My SIL likes like better than the real thing. It is made with Agave. Someone may have the recipe handy. Ellen, I get my machine Thurday. Crystle, that was not many calories. Off to go home. Have a great evening. |
Sorry I've been missing in action so to speak. I've been really tired this week and so just didn't get on to write only to read. Will be better in a day or two. Thinking of you all and praying for you Solly on your surgery.
|
Morning Ladies:
I am down 2.5 lbs today. I am excited. I can't believe it has been 6 weeks of being consistent with my workouts. I love the results. Solly- I will be praying for you on Friday. Hope you had an enjoyable evening. Ellen- I would be delighted to get to gther the next time you are in town. Maybe us Sugarbusters should get together as a whole and meet at a central location. That would be Fun. Toni- I hope you feel better soon. Well back to work. Have a great day everyone. |
Just wanted to say thank you ladies for all of support. You have made such a difference.
|
Good morning. I didn't even weight today.
Mercee, congrats on your loss. You are the inspiration with all your hardwork and exercise ethic. Keep up the good work. Toni, sorry you have been so tired. Hope you are feeling energetic soon. Ellen, Crystle, Running, Hope you are having a great day. Really busy here so got to run. Hope to check in tomorrow. |
Didn't weigh in this morning either. Just felt it wasn't a good day for me. Went grocery shopping yesterday and got stocked up on healthy stuff. Lots of chicken, fish fruit and salad stuff. We got some rain today. Thank goodness we needed it.
Mercee- Wow 2.5 is great. You're doing so good. This is a bunch of really good ladies here. The support is so great. Solly- Don't blame you for not weighing in. Don't work to hard... Back to my coffee. |
I forgot to weigh yesterday morning...my sister is here and I have been with her most of the time.
Its been busy busy busy! We are not doing much sightseeing, or touristy things..just hanging out at my pool, relaxing. Its nice. But I am tired...trying to fix extra meals and stuff takes it toll. I will try and remember to weigh when I get up later this morning! ;) I think I am down a bit...so I would love to weigh officially and find out where I am at. The thirty pounds is really close... SOLLY: Thinking of you! I hope the surgery goes really well. I wish you the best of luck with your machine. I LOVE mine...but I will admit it took a bit of getting used to at first. Don't give up! The benefits are wonderful. |
Hi Ellen, I just saw your name on the main page and clicked through to see how you are doing - 26 pounds, that is awesome!! Keep up the great work! I bet you feel fabulous!
|
Hi ladies,
Got a late start today, had my last therapy session and evaluation. I had not improved like I thought I would have. Some things were better than others. Ellen, Wow 30 pounds is awesome. You should be feeling great with your sister there relaxing but I understand the additional work. They just left with my machine. I'll give it a try tonight and take it to the hospital with me. Toni, you will be ready to go now that you have all that good food in the house. Crystle, Mercee, Running, Have a great day, I will check back in with you all sometime Sunday or so or as soon as I can. Thanks for all your prayers. |
Prayers for Solly....
|
Howdy
Sorry I've been a little mia...no good excuses. Eating and exercising has been going well. Weigh loss pitiful. But I finally lost a pound. One in two weeks is disappointing but I'm trying to look at the positive side. My pants aren't too tight anymore and I think I'm beginning to see a waist again.
Today's workout was a Leslie Sansone two mile ab video and 17 minutes on the treadmill. I didn't break my record for the mile but I did get it in 13 min and 39 seconds. Solly...if you are back home I hope you are doing great. Praying for a speedy recovery. Toni...thanks for all the encouragement over at facebook. Ellen...do you still have company? Hope ya'll are having a blast. Mercee...how are things in your neck of the woods? Love and hugs, Crystle |
Checking in. My sister left this afternoon. I thought they would leave this morning early, but her daughter in law slept late, and I don't think she felt very well, so she dragged her feet about leaving. The house is quiet. It was nice having them here. Yesterday afternoon we went up to our daughter's house and stayed fairly late. My niece in law and my daughter were playing a game on the Wii. My sister, niece and I bowled three games on it too. I did horribly. I am usually pretty good, so I was disappointed! :)
Tom is working on a garden plot he is going to plant spinach in for a fall crop. I am chilling. I need to go to the store. I just want some down time, alone, to regroup. Its been a very busy week! Will be back later....hoping Solly checks in soon. |
Checking in. The weather has been great and I so enjoyed the weekend. Now the temps are back up and we've had to turn the air back on. But it was good while it lasted. The river was full of floaters. Lots of canoes and kayaks going by. Going to fix chicken salads soon for dinner.
Crystle- That's a great work out today. Congrats on the 1 lb. loss. That's a carton of butter you've lost.... Ellen- Hope you got some by yourself time today. It was nice you had company. Hope you're home and resting Solly. Hi to Mercee. |
Morning Ladie:
I had a great weekend with my hubby. We went downtown on a dinner cruise Sunday evening to celebrate with our friends their 28th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. I went back to the dietician and she was so surprised that I have lost 12 pounds in 5 weeks. My glucose has been great as well. ( She checked my meter). I am so excited that working out and eating has been great. It has been a long time since I've had this kind of sucess . I go back to the dietician in October. Solly- We miss you. Get well soon. Crystle- Great job eating and exercising. It will all come together. Ellen- Glad you enjoyed your sister and family. Toni-How did your chicken salad turn out? I love chicken salad. |
Been busy today. So I'll just do a fly by. Nothing new here.
Mercee- Our chicken salad came out great. We had a great big lettuce salad with it. You're doing so well. 12 lbs. is great. The dinner cruise sounds wonderful. |
Just checking in... I checked out the scale today and it was NOT pretty. Our eating was off while my sister and niece were here, and then last night we went and had dinner with friends for his birthday. I ate too many corn chips and salsa and then I had a small piece of cake. All the gluten overload and extra fat took its toll..... So today I am back on the straight and gluten free vegan narrow. I had a friend over with her two month old baby and I made curried chickpeas and sauteed eggplant for lunch. I feel kind of full still. I am also feeling sore and achy from the Wii bowling on Sunday, so I feel rather crabby.
Will check in tomorrow! MERCEE: Way to go! 12 pounds in five weeks is GREAT! My husband and I celebrated our 34 anniversary over the weekend! We did not do anything for it yet though, since we had company. We may go out one night this week, and use a gift card we have had for a while to some swanky restaurants here. I am thinking lobster... :) |
I had a post and hit yhe wrong button and lost everything. Iam using my DD's computer so nothing is where I expext. Iam home. I had to stay an extra day as I could noy keep anything down. Finally around 6L00 Sat i kept down som tomato soup, so I got to come home on Sunday. I have no pain frm the incision but I am so dizzy. I can;t walk by myself andif I move my head the rooms spins. I have called the dr twice but they have not called me back. something is not right. tha ks for all the4 prayers and well wishes. I hope to be back to normal soon. Ona good note, ihave lost 10 lbs. Considering i went for 48 hours w/o eating.
Crystle, throw that scale away, if your pants aren't tight, you are seeing results. Ellen, glad your companyh is wrong and you can get back on track and get some rest. Toni, Nothing going on here, I am bored but can't do anything. \ Mercee, you are doing so greaT, YOU ARe our posterchild. going to run as I keep hitting the wrong buttons. be back later |
Good morning! Its great to see a post from Solly!
I just made a triple batch of tofu mini quiches...and after I put them in the oven and baked them half the time, I realized I forgot the nutritional yeast, which dramatically improves the flavor to be more quiche-like. Drat! I tried one when they came out and its not bad...its just not as good as it could be. They are relatively high protein and low fat, so they make a lovely breakfast. I just had my espresso too. So now I am all set. Well, kind of! :) I roasted coffee beans while the quiches were cooking. Now I am taking a break. I have tons to do. I think I ought to tackle the laundry and wash sheets today. I realized it was Wednesday after breakfast....so I will wait to weigh in. I know I am up an obscene five or so pounds, anyway. I guess that is my usual though....two steps forward, one and a half back. sigh. I really should have gotten my butt in gear this morning and gone for a walk. I woke up congested though and its continued all morning. I hope if its a cold it is short lived. I really hate being sick. Be back later! |
Morning everyone. Getting nervous its getting closer to my testing on Friday. I had the chemical stress tests and I'm having one. Will be glad when its over. Trying to think of something for breakfast and guess it will be shredded wheat and bran and some sliced cantaloupe. Tonight will be a salad with pork tenderloin on it.
Solly- Still praying for you. I'm glad you're home but that sure sounds like something wrong with you getting dizzy all the time. I hope they call you back soon and let you know what to do. Ellen- Breakfast sounds good. Oh darn I forgot to weigh in to. Guess I'll skip it today. Sorry you're congested. Off to finish my coffee before getting my butt in gear. |
Good afternoon ladies:
Solly- It is so great to hear from you. I hope they find out what is causing the dizziness. I am still praying for you. Ellen- Hope you feel better soon. Your breakfast sounds yummy. Toni- I'm praying everything comes out well with your test. Have a great day everyone. |
Solly- This is for you :getwell:
|
((Everybody))
I just love coming to this board and seeing you ladies here. I can't express what a blessing each of you truly is.
Solly..SO SO good to see you. I'm sorry you are dizzy. Praying they get it sorted out soon so you can feel like your ole self. Helen..Happy Belated Anniversary. Those pounds will come off before you know it. That is the good thing about water weight versus fat. Toni..Praying all goes well with your test. I'm cooking pork for the guys also. Mercee...WTG on your 12 pounds. You are going GREAT! :carrot: I'll weigh in tomorrow. Love and hugs, Crystle |
We had a lovely quiet evening...Tom worked in the garden some, then we sat down and watched the first half of the A&E six hour mini-series Pride and Prejudice. I have watched it SO much I can quote the lines, but we love it. I have not watched it for probably a year, so I am enjoying it. Not sure when we can watch the second half...the rest of the week and weekend are packed.
Tonight I made quinoa brownies. They are gluten free, and I use an egg replacement too. They are very good...even when I cut the amount of sugar I put in them to less than half what the recipe calls for. Quinoa is a high protein grain too, so I think they must be good for you. :) Its time for bed, so good night everyone! |
Morning ladies:
Just a quick drop in to say hi. I am feeling terrible my sinuses are really draining and my head hurts. Have a great day everyone. I will survivve this!!! |
Lovely rain here today. Think its starting to pass but it sure has been nice. I've curled in the chair and watched tv and played with my computer today. Also took a little nap. Lazy day. Dreading the tests tomorrow.
Solly- How are you today? Hope they've done something about your dizziness. Mercee- Hope your sinus get better. Ellen- I sure wished I could cook the good healthy stuff you do. Those brownies sound great. Crystle- Hows your day today? Off to be more lazy... LOL |
