good morning

I don't usually report my Monday weigh-in but since it was good this week I think I will..LOL I'm down two pounds. I weigh on Mondays for SparkPeople and Weds. here. That is why I weigh-in twice a week. Not that I don't weigh every day. :dizzy: My throat is still sore but it hasn't stopped me from eating.
We were so blessed at the store this week. I really really wanted to get some extra fage 0 percent Greek style yogurt but it tends to be a bit too high. It was on sale for only 2.99!!!:carrot::carrot::carrot: I was thinking God big time because that is how I can add protein to my diet without a ton of calories. I also bought some fiber one to try. It is high but it did what I had hoped it would. :o And it actually tasted good.

Got a new video. Talk about awesome. Leslie kicked my hiney! It is the four mile walk slim. It is so FAST and fun. She has new moves including some jogging.

Solly...I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better. You are still in my prayers.

Mercee..I totally understand why you would keep on working out. This weekend I was feeling poorly but I figured if I skipped it would become easier to have reasons to skip. Exercise is as important to my daily routine as my calorie choices.

Ellen...sorry your staycation is over. Robert is on vacation in a couple of weeks. I can't wait. We don't usually do anything but I just like spending time with him. How precious that your grand baby wanted you.

Toni..oh man I know that had to go so fast. My son was here last week for just a couple of hours. First time in over a year. It flew by. The wedding sounds so beautiful. Hope you had a restful evening last night.

(((Everybody))) Hope ya'll have a super fantastic OP week. Remember you are the best your there is and you are worth it.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Just taking it easy this morning. Going to fix DH breakfast/lunch and I think I'll have an Amy's Indian frozen dinner. I'm so hungry. Got to get back on track after this week end. I tried hard. But still didn't do to good.

Crystle- Congradulations on the 2 lbs. Thats wonderful....

Mercee- Glad you got in the walk before your dinner. What a way to eat right. Get that exercise.

Solly- Hope your day continues to do good. I'm so happy theres some improvement.

Ellen- Sounds like a busy and nice week end. I love Mexican food and was just looking at Green chili recipes on line. Your dinner tonight sounds good. Hope you have a good time today....

Off to cook......

Ellen 10-18-2010 04:06 PM

Back from the market! And I just finished an afternoon snack of a bowl of organic popcorn.

I decided to make an apple cake to take tonight instead of buying something. The whole dinner got all confused...the person fixing the Cuban beans and rice backed out so now we are having tacos. I need to make some guacamole to take.

I found something interesting at the market...quail. Tiny little quail. Tom was just asking me to look for it and rabbit. I got two to fix for him. I don't think I would like it, so I will eat something else when I fix it for him. :) They also had rabbit, but it was $6 a pound and I am short on funds until pay day Friday, so I skipped it. The quails were $2 each. My friend, who is a chef, told me that was a good price and they looked good, so I splurged.

I have the apple cakes in the oven. I made one for tonight and one for Wednesday night. I will freeze it then defrost and heat it a bit before we go to covered dish supper at church on Wednesday. I hope it works out ok. I think it will be ok.

Lunch at the market was good, and I did ok. I did have a bit of eggplant parmesan which I love, even though I knew it was going to have gluten in it. They have the BEST cafeteria. You put what you want on your plate and they weigh it. Its $5 a pound...not bad! A conservative plate of food is usually under $5. They have a lot of international workers, and they serve a lot of unusual international dishes. There was tangine of lamb with apricots, spiced lentils, samosas...just to name a few!

I need to go check my cakes.

SOLLY: I was surprised at the information about the Cherokees. I never knew how advanced they were. Do a Google search on New Echota, and Chief James Vann. I bet you will find some interesting reading.

CountryMom4Him 10-18-2010 06:01 PM

Good evening

I tried another of the new videos. Today it was the five mile..woo hoo. :carrot: I don't know if it was that hard or I am just that tired today. Still dealing with a stupid sore throat. Praying and believing it will be gone soon.

Ellen...Guacamole sounds good. I LOVE it. Sometimes I eat it as a meal. Have you ever had rabbit before? We raise them but so far this set of bunnies haven't made a littler yet. If she doesn't breed pretty soon I think we are just not gonna bother. My youngest likes me to make rabbit gumbo.

Hope ya'll are having a nice evening.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Solly 10-19-2010 09:21 AM

Good morning ladies. Unfortunately I do not feel as good as the weekend. I guess work realy aggrevates it. Guess I should just sit at home ha-ha. Felt yucky by dinner time so picked at my food. Did have 3 skinless chicken legs with some bbq sauce,1/4 c mashed potatoes, and 1/2 c lina beans. Tried to eat some mixed veggies but it really mde me sick. Later I had some sherbert. I did make some ww muffins for breakfast last night so that is made for the week.

Cryslte, I really like LS tapes. 3 miles was the top before so I guess she has moved up. Good for you getting that done and losing 2 lbs  I love Greek yogurt. It tastes like cheese cake to me.

Mercee, good for you keeping up with your excercise. Like they said once you skip you come up with all kinds of excuses to skip. Keep up the good work.

Ellen, I bet your cak would have been better than any store bought cake anyway.

Toni, glad you are resting up from your company.

Not really too in to this today so I am off. Have a great one

Mercee 10-19-2010 10:25 AM

Morning Ladies:

Nothing much to report went picked up a few groceries afer work made dinner did 2 loads of clothes then went to the gym about 8:00pp.m. to work out. I am so glad they are openuntil 11:00 so I have no excuse. It is only 3 minutes from my house.

Crystle- Congratulations on your loss great job. I use to do LS tapes also but the tops was 3 miles then. Keep up the good work.

Solly- Hope you get a chance to rest some this evening.

Ellen- My husband would love your apple cake. He loves things made with aples. How are you going to prepare your quail? I've never had it.

Toni- Hope you had a restful evening.

Well I'm outta here. Have a great day everyone.

Ellen 10-19-2010 11:03 AM

Morning! I skipped water aerobics...see? You are all right! Once you make excuses it gets easier and easier...I am in that boat. The teacher on T and Th has you run up and down the pool a lot. This is good, but it does aggravate my plantar problems, so I thought I would wait until tomorrow, as the teacher on M-W has a different approach that is less stress on the heels.

I spent a good hour to hour and a half this morning researching doctors on my health plan. I do not like the one I am going to. I hate being talked to like I am stupid. I am thinking I will try the one my husband goes to. He has a lot of certifications and one in diabetes, plus I have heard he is brilliant. Tom says he is 'nerdy', which is not a bad thing in my book! Especially for my doctor! haha!

Small group was fun last night, but I ate too much...and I had forgotten my evening meds. Consequently, my morning bg levels were bad. I had a small breakfast to try and make up for it.

I need to run a few errands. Tom took my car today, so I have to drive his, which happens to be my old one. Its not as comfortable as my new one, but hey, it runs! :)

MERCEE: Do you want the recipe for my apple cake? I cut the sugar in half, and it still tastes great. Its my mother's recipe...

SOLLY: It sounds to me like you are doing too much. Could you work half days, so you can get more rest and recover? I know its hard for you non-lazy types to relax. Maybe a week on the beach with a couple good books is what you need. You could come to Chez Ellen and I will make you relax....the pool is too cold to swim in, but the sun is warm and the lounge chairs very comfy....

COUNTRY: Five miles sounds like an awful lot to me right now. I will be happy when I can build to three again. If this stupid heel problem ever heals...sigh.

TONI: Are you recovered from your company yet? What Amy's Indian did you have? I love them. I also love the tamales they make. I love that they have gluten free, and dairy free options. I was such a help when I was eating vegan.

Toni48 10-19-2010 11:15 AM

Well Jackson got me out of bed this morning and made me take him and the other dog outside. After he got me all woke up and the coffee going he went back to bed with Steve. Leaving me sleepy and up. Little stinker. Wish Steve would get up so I could make some oatmeal. I'm hungry.

Mercee-Good going on the gym so late. Boy you are one tough cookie. I wish some of that would rub off on me.

Ellen- I had the Amy's with the creamed spinach and indian dish in it along with a type of rice. The only thing that was good was the indian dish. I think the meal was really disappointing. And I love her stuff.

Solly- Hope you are feeling better this morning.

Crystle- Wow you're doing good. Keep it up.....

Well off to have more coffee.

CountryMom4Him 10-19-2010 02:20 PM

Howdeeee

Good afternoon ya'll. Just sitting here eating my lunch. It is pretty good if I say so myself. :) Just an eggplant tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese dish with asparagus and mushrooms. I missed breakfast because I took a nap and didn't really feel like eating. Didn't feel like it now either but I worked out earlier and you gotta fuel the tank. I almost feel lazy. I did the walk and jog and then the muscle walk. It was 50 minutes but the last 20 was pretty easy.

Toni..your pup sounds like my cat. He gets me good and awake with kisses and purring, runs around the house a bit and then conks out.

Ellen...hope you can find a doctor you like. Hope you get a great workout tomorrow. Praying that foot feels better soon.

Mercee...When I used to do the tapes years ago a two or three miles would have me all beet faced and panting. Now I get a good workout without feeling so yucky. The best part is I've found if it gets too easy you just push harder. I'm hoping as I get stronger it will cross over into my walk/jogging outside. I have a goal in mind. It is almost scary to say it out loud in case I never make it. But my ultimate goal in to come in under 11 minutes. The closest I've come is 11:27 or 11:33.

Solly....sorry you are feeling yucky today. Since the computer seems to make if worse do you think you might need new glasses? Maybe something changed after the surgery? Praying that everything start to fall into place and you get stronger, healthier and happier every day. ((((big giant bear hug))))

Boy am I the chatter box today or what. (((Everybody))) I can not say it enough. You ladies ROCK!!! That voice in your head that tells you negative things..tell it to take a hike. You are all winners and you will reach your goals. Setbacks are temporary, injuries are temporary and you will keep moving forward. You ladies are like extended family to me and I thank God for you.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Ellen 10-19-2010 05:03 PM

Just finished my supper. Tom has a meeting, so I can eat earlier than usual, which I prefer. I had a bowl of sauteed eggplant and onions, and some greek yogurt with a bit of no sugar added cherry butter. I will probably wander down stairs in a bit and eat the rest of the eggplant. :)

I spent about an hour and a half on the phone chatting with my coffee friend. She is out in Washington state taking care of her elderly mother, and boy do I miss her! We try to talk at least once a week.

TONI and CRYSTLE: We had that problem with our cats. They would wake us up early, then go take a nap and leave us all wide awake. Tom puts them out when we go to bed now. They are waiting at the door when we get up! :) If he forgets it never fails that they will start meowing, or jump on the bed and wake us around 4-5am.

Ellen 10-20-2010 10:01 AM

Well, its Wednesday. Do you know where your scale is?

Mine is being mean. I am up one pound this morning. I just can't seem to stay in that lower decade. :(

I am meeting a young friend and her kids at the park for a picnic. It is a bit rainy this morning, but is supposed to clear off and be sunny this afternoon. I hope it gets a tad warmer too, as its a bit raw this morning. The park has a train themed playground, and her boys beg to go there. I need to take my grandson there sometime!

I skipped water aerobics again. I slept poorly last night...could NOT fall asleep. So I did not wake up until almost an hour later than usual. I just did not feel like rushing around.

It will be back to the usual schedule on Monday. Tomorrow I must skip it again for a doctor appt.

I am trying to decide what to fix to take to the potluck tonight. I have an apple cake, and I am thinking a main dish. I am leaning towards beef stew and put some beef out to thaw. That may change though...I have a lot of chicken tenders.

Solly 10-20-2010 10:37 AM

Good morning. Feeling a little better today but moving around in my chair makes me dizzy. I went to bed at 8:00 last night and watched the BL and fell asleep. I'm still tired.

I weighed this mornng and I was the same. Considering how I ate, I will take it. I just can't get my act together. All my pants are so tight I can't breathe but I still eat junk.

Mercee, Would you start posting your food. I am ancious to see what you are eating for all meals. I think it would be a help not only to me but others. Great job on getting to the gym. Like someone said, making excuses makes it easier to keep making them.

Ellen, I wish your foot would get better, but some have said it can take a year. Mine did not last long, but I used ice alot. My right foot hurt now and I am putting off going to the dr. I just limp along. I don't really like my family doc either. I go today and I may switch after that. If you will pay my bills I will work half days. [I] figure I can can be dizzy here and get a full check as well at home, even though I feel better if I just sit. I should come visit you. It might be relaxing and you could wait on me. I'm just afraid of what you would feed me. ha-ha.

Crystle, I am so proud of all the exercise you are doing. You are motivating me (for a minute). Actually they tell you not to get your glasses changed yet. Now I can't see with my glasses to drive. I can see better if I take them off and the same way with TV. It never mattered before.

Toni, our dg may get up during the night to go out but makes a bee line back to the bed. He always wants to go to bed if someone will. He sleeps all the time and he is only 3. Hope you are rested up.

Have a great day everyone.

Solly 10-20-2010 10:39 AM

Ellen,we were posting at the same time. Sorry you are up a pound. It is totally different when you are trying to stay in the next set of numbers. Hang in there, it will go back down. I'm sure whatever you take tonight will be delish.

Toni48 10-20-2010 02:52 PM

Darn I think I don't want to face the scale so have forgotten two weeks in a row to weigh in. I need to get it over with and start fresh. Hopefully I will tomorrow. I'm having a horrible time with eating and staying with good habits.

Crystle- Your eggplant sounded so good. Making chicken enchiladas tonight.

Solly- Good for you staying the same. I'm having such a hard time now. But for you I don't blame you. You'll get back on it.

Ellen- You'll lose that lb. next week. Soon as you get back on your water aerobics. Good luck at the doctor tomorrow.

Well off I go.....

Ellen 10-20-2010 02:53 PM

Ok, I need to do a small rant. We just informed the pastor of our church we were leaving and joining a different church. We were honest with our reasons. I have not been treated well there lately...I had someone bad mouth me behind my back and it cost me my monthly catering job, and several ministry jobs I had. I had talked about this with the pastor, who acted all sympathetic, but nothing ever changed. So, when they canceled the evening service, which we went to, it just felt like a good time to switch since we had been considering it for a while. Right after Tom called and talked to the pastor, his wife defriended me on Facebook. Today, I found the pastor defriended me on there, AND blocked me from even seeing his page. I am beyond amazement. I have NEVER done anything to harm him, been extremely careful about sharing any negative information, etc. etc. etc. I will probably not miss them at all, but it just seemed very petty to me. Others have left the church and they were not treated like this. Why me?

I am going to struggle big time to keep this to myself. But I will do my best. I don't want to hurt the church...I just want it to quit hurting me!

I went to the park and met my friend. We had a nice time. It was a beautiful day!

Off to go work on my dishes for the potluck tonight!

CountryMom4Him 10-20-2010 02:53 PM

Good morning

I am feeling so much better and more like myself today. Had a good workout earlier. I may try to sneak another in. My activity outside of my workouts is minimal so I think that would give my weight loss a boost.
I have a funny to share with ya'll. Hope it isn't tmi. :dizzy: I have a skirt that when I first got it it used to fall down in the back. Well because of all the exercise videos I now have a ledge in the back to hold it up. :o My tootie may not be as wide but it has grown. LOL

Solly...you always make me smile. I'm glad things are getting a little better. Staying the same beats moving up any day. Once you can get moving again your pants will fit in no time. You probably have more water weight than you realize. What kinds of foods are you hungry for? Maybe we can find a way to make them a little healthier and still meet those cravings.

Ellen...woman woman woman...:smug: Do some bicep curls, raise your arms over your head just keep moving. Just ten minutes a day makes a difference. Hope that didn't sound bossy. Just a loving push. :D Last night when hubby and I were laying in bed we got the facebook about the covered dish. His first response was mac-n-cheese. I usually go for the side dishes like corn casserole. Don't get me wrong when they bring in the fried chicken it takes all I have not to eat it. We never buy fried chicken from the store and it is so good, all greasy and salty. The one dish I take that almost always gets eaten is not healthy but simple. Sauteed onion and peppers with sausage. I cut the sausage in little circles. I like your idea of beef stew. I LOVE beef stew. Are you making brown rice to take with it? Or do you even eat rice with yours?

Toni..good afternoon. How are you today? Getting rested up from the weekend? What did you think of biggest loser last night? I was really surprised with who they sent home. I was disappointed my guy didn't make it back to the show but I like the lady who did. She seems very nice so far.

Mercee..howdy. I forgot where you live. Has it warmed back up like it has in Texas. I'd love for fall to come back. On a good note it is making the garden start to grow. It may actually make it before the cold sets in.

Time to get off this thing and do the dishes. They are in there breeding. I had a couple now the dishpan is full.

(((Everybody)))

God bless,
Crystle

CountryMom4Him 10-20-2010 04:15 PM

Sos sorry

I just saw some post that must have been posting when I was posting. Ellen, that is so unreal to me. (((hugzz))) That is so carnal and not the least bit walking in the spirit. I'm so sorry. Love transcends what church you go to, what you believe, ect. We haven't found a new church since our church had conflict. So I am glad you found another place of worship.

Toni...just jump on the scales. No matter what it says each day is a new day to start toward your goal. You are not your weight and your weight does not define you. You are awesome no matter what the scales say. It is all about being healthy. Once you know where you are at you can work from there.

Love you guys

God bless,
Crystle

Toni48 10-20-2010 09:36 PM

Made chicken enchilada's tonight for dinner. Made them as lowfat as I could. They came out pretty good. And gives me something for breakfast tomorrow. Still kind of resting up from my company. It takes me awhile.

Ellen- Sure don't blame you for being upset. Its so good you found another church. You sure don't need people like that in your life. Glad you at least had a nice time at the park.

Crystle- Thanks so much for your sweet encouragement. It means so much to me. I'll just have to take little steps. I liked the BL last night but wanted everyone to get back on there. Especially that guy. I think the girl that got back on was doing fine at home. Who knows maybe she needed it the most. Hope she does better than the 5 lbs. she lost.

Well I've got a pinched nerve in my shoulder and think I'll go put the heating pad on it. Must have done some wild bending or something at the wedding this week end. LOL!!! :o

Ellen 10-20-2010 09:58 PM

Thanks Crystle and Toni.

Potluck tonight was good, kind of. We got there about ten minutes late and everyone had been through the line and was eating. There was not very much food...and most of it was desserts. I did eat a bit of them for the first time...there was nothing else to eat! I took chicken tenders I had put some Tikka sauce on. The Tikka sauce I have is WAY too hot! Tom and I like it, but I had forgotten how hot it was. Luckily, there was a small crowd tonight. I even put a sign by it saying SPICY! :)

TONI: I bet you were dancing on the tables at that wedding, you party animal! :) I hope the shoulder feels better soon!

COUNTRY: We are very blessed to have found a new church and so close to home! We have been considering changing for a long long time. I was just shocked when I realized what they had done. It did not seem very Christ like to me. I have never done anything to hurt them... I am sorry you don't have a church you can attend. I just don't know what I would do without it. You at least have family near by, though, don't you? We have our grown kids, but they are not that close by...45 minutes seems like a long long way to me!

Solly 10-21-2010 09:03 AM

Good morning ladies. The visit to the dr yesterday proved to be interesteing. She informed me that I had a brain bleed, a heart that does not relax (most likey due to sleep apenea) and suggested I not take my Celebrex as it could cause another stroke or heartattack. My RA dr said there was no conflict. So I think I will get off of it for a month until I go to the RA dr and see what happens. I really don't know what to do, I'm sure the RA dr will say it is ok to take it. If I can get by w/o it, I will. I feel some better today, went to sleep later than usual so I am tired today. We do have a bid but a small one, they ususally make me lots dizzier. We will see.

My DD's lease on her car runs out next week and we did not realize it. So tonight we have to go look at cars to see what she can afford. I wanted to chill and start cleaning out some closets to switch clothes.

Ellen, It sure doesn't seem like your pastor was very Christian. Of all people! It's funny that they defriended you. My DD was telling me that her SIL and BIL defriended her too. I know you will like this church so much better. Some things are best left alone.

Toni, hope you are catching up on your rest. You should have never danced so much! I am having a hard time too. I was shocked that Rick went home on BL. I wanted the lady with BC to come back, but then I'm partial.

Crystal, girl you are starting to exercise your day away. Before soon you will be like Rick on the BL who is exercising 3 times a day. I wish my foot would get better so at least I could walk some. That was funny about your touche. God for you.

OK off to work on this bid. Have a great day

Toni48 10-21-2010 11:46 AM

Good morning all. Cool today here. I love this fall weather. I'm snuggled in my chair with a blanket and the dog laying on me snoring away. Trying to figure what all I've got to today. Like laundry and cleaning. Need to figure whats for dinner.

Solly- My gosh thats something what your doctor said. What are you supposed to do with Brain bleed? Wonder what your RA is going to say about the celebrex. Hope you can get your sleep apena under control. Keep up the fight girl, you can do it.....hugs...

Ellen- Pot luck sounds fun. My DH would love the Tikka sauce. He loves spicy. I made enchilada's with hot enchilada sauce last night.

Well off to finish my coffee and make breakfast.

Ellen 10-21-2010 12:16 PM

Just got back from my AK Chiro appt. She said I was a mess. I was not surprised with all the stressful things going on. She really worked on systems that would help my foot heal. She told me to ice it. No heat...so I am freezing a bottle of water and will try that. I have to go back in a week and a half to try and clear up more of it.

I went by the pool store and got algaecide so Tom can close the pool, then Trader Joes for milk and cheese.

I just ate half a can of canned chicken. I was SO hungry! Unfortunately, my blood sugar levels are way too high due to poor eating and stress yesterday. I shouldn't complain...I can only blame myself.

TONI: A lazy morning with a beloved pet snoozing on you sounds lovely...especially with a cup of coffee to boot! :)

Off to see what mischief I can get into here....

Toni48 10-21-2010 10:57 PM

Steve grilled chicken legs tonight and I had that with a combo of broccoli and cauliflower. Should have made a salad but I'm having trouble with a salad dressing thats easy and I like. Sure finding more and more things I've been buying with corn syrup in them. Can you believe its in Mott's applesauce. Started reading the China Study so I've got two books going. Beautiful day today. I loved having the front door open.

Ellen- Good thing your chiro worked with you. I hope it helped. Did you miss meat when you were eating vegan? I've been wanting to ate more veggies and less meat to my diet.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Ellen 10-22-2010 09:25 AM

Morning! I have been up a while. I woke up around 4 and could not get back to sleep so I finally just got up. I made up two weeks of menus, and played on some games. Its time for breakfast now, then I think I will run up to the art supply store and buy a few things I need.

TONI: Don't take everything in that China Study book seriously. I have read some reviews of it that say they seriously skewed the information to support a vegan lifestyle. I agree there is some merit to cutting down on meats and increasing your plant based foods, but it is not going to save the planet, or even make you live to be 100. Google the author, the book and read reviews. As my husband tells me, follow the money. I did that with the book that said a vegan diet would cure diabetes. It did not cure mine, or even help that much. I found the author was a big animal rights activist, and former head of PETA. The results he published were questioned by a number of experts. Some people need meat. Go take Mercola's nutrition typing quiz and see what type you are. He gives recommendations on how to eat, what to eat, etc. He seriously makes a lot of sense. We started following a few of the guidelines for carnivores, or protein types, and have seen a big difference in how we feel. As for the HFCS, I am with you on that. Its in everything. I buy organic applesauce at Whole Foods, Trader Joes or even Publix. Apples are one item they say is good to alway get organic of. I did not miss meat when I was eating vegan very much. I ate a lot of beans and rice. I also ate a good bit of soy, which is a mixed blessing. It interferes with thyroid hormones, and should not be used unless its fermented and even then only in moderation.

Going to go forage up some breakfast! :)

Solly 10-22-2010 09:44 AM

Good morning. Boy am I glad it is Friday. Thought it would never get here. Work is slow and I am so bored and all I want to do is eat.

Last night we went my DD and looked at 3 cars. I think she is going again tonight and we have to meet the lease agent tomorrow. She may buy one as my SIL know the VP and he can get her a good deal. I would like for her to get out from under that lease.

I don't have any other plans for the weekend, thank goodness. We may take the baby to Trick & Treat at the Elks tomorrow night. My DD doesn't want to go so they can go eat in peace while we take him. He is going to be Mickey Mouse as he just loves him right now. He says "Teet Teet" for T&T and "Booooo" is what the witch says. I get such a kick out of him. I think we are going to see their land sometime tomorrow too.

Ellen, I thought ice would help. It got rid of mine very quickly. Just keep rolling your foot over it while you are on the computer or watching tv. Good job getting your menhus planned for 2 weeks. I will have to check your latest score on BB.

Toni, My doggie sits on my DH's lap unless I am the only one home. He likes him best, but yet, I feed him all the time. It sure was cold here this morning but supposed to warm up. We had grilled chicken legs wed night for dinner. Tasted pretty good to me.

Crystle, you are probably out walking or doing a tape. Have a great weekend.

Mecee, I know you are hard at work, have a good one.

Everyone have a great weekend. I may be back.

Hello Ladies:

Just wanted to check in . I'm doing well but I am very busy at work working on a major project. No time for replies. Have a great weekend. I should be back to normal by next wek. I am still getting my workouts in no matter how late it is. ( I went to the gym one night at 9;30p.m.) Talk to you later.

CountryMom4Him 10-22-2010 10:57 AM

Good morning

Toni...I eat a lot less meat but when I want it I want it..LOL Last night I ate over 4 ounces of London broil. It was good but I was stuffed! The night before I didn't have meat I had chick peas and whole wheat pasta with a tad of light Italian dressing on it. I was also full after that.

Ellen...Wow you got up early. Sounds like nap day to me. :) I think it is great you can make menus. I've tried in the past but I am a wake up and decide kinda gal. My son just asked what was for dinner. I said I don't know something with hamburger. LOL He is thinking we need burgers. I have found by the time I weigh out 4 ounces for a burger for myself it is so tiny that it doesn't even look like a burger when it is done. So not sure what I'll have. Maybe a taco salad. What did you find for breakfast? I really like the fiber one cereal but I found that it has aspertame in it so now I really don't want to eat it. I'll finish the box eventually but I probably won't buy it again.

Solly...you grand baby sounds so precious. I'm not doing anything yet this morning. I'm being a tad motivation challenged. Drinking my water thinking of getting dressed. :D Hope you have a blessed and restful weekend.

Mercee...you are the woman! At 9:30 I am useless.

((Everybody))

God bless,
Crystle

Good morning. Got up later than I wanted to but I stayed up late last night. Wish I wouldn't have done that. I feel draggy now. I'm getting hungry and will have to hunt down food soon. Need to catch up the laundry and stuff today. And get ready for the week end.

Ellen- Thank you so much for talking to me about the China Study. I'm disappointed with it and don't know now if I want to finish reading it. I really think I know how to eat but not doing it right is my downfall. I love the idea of the meal plans. Think after I get off here I'll go take that quiz. Thanks so much for talking to me about this.

Solly-How fun to take the Grandson trick or treating. I miss having little ones come to the door since we live in the country instead of in town. DH has Jackson on his lap now. He loves DH lap. Have a good week end.

Crystle- I need to have some meatless meals too. Chick peas and whole pasta sounds good. And so does the taco salad. I love mexican food. Think I'll be having the leftover enchiladas for breakfast.

Mercee- Sounds like you're crazy busy. Good for you and the workouts.

Ellen 10-22-2010 08:31 PM

So I did not make it to the store I originally planned on going to. Its so far away...so I went to Hobby Lobby instead and they had canvas on sale for 40% off...yes! SO I bought a bunch of 8x10 canvas boards and will paint one a day! A friend of mine who has a Mary Kay business is having a Christmas open house and my daughter and I are both going to be part of it and try and sell stuff. I am going to frame my paintings and take them. I am thinking $50 for the small ones is fair. The large ones maybe need to be more like $75. I need to price frames.

I never did take a nap. I am SO tired, I think I will crawl in bed soon. And I may take an Ambien tonight. I am sick of waking up in the middle of the night lately and not being able to go back to sleep.

Toni48 10-23-2010 11:29 AM

Happy Saturday morning everyone. Hope you all slept good last night. Its a beautiful day here so far. We're waiting for rain here. Don't know what I'm doing yet today. But right now having a nice cup of coffee. Should get up and make oatmeal.

Ellen- Hope you slept good last night. Its miserable not sleeping. That sure sounds like a good price on the paintings. I would pay it in a minute.

Will check back in later.

Toni48 10-24-2010 05:45 PM

Happy Sunday..... Hope everyone is having a good week end.

Ellen 10-24-2010 11:39 PM

Evening! I had a busy weekend. Today we were officially accepted for membership at our new church. Tonight, I went to a kick off meeting for a women's mentoring/cooking program that will start in January. The young woman who is getting it started and I started talking...and we talked and talked and talked. She has been praying for someone 'like' the arty folks at our old church, which they considered attending, but ended up at this new church we are at. So she is looking at me as an answer to prayer. How neat is that? :) She is a painter...and we have a lot in common. So that was totally fun.

My week is shaping up to be busy, but I think it will be a good one. I intend to kick it off with water aerobics at 10 in the morning. :)

I made chicken tacos today. They turned out pretty good. Then while I had the beans cooked and meat defrosted, I went ahead and fixed the chili for dinner tomorrow. So, dinner is all ready with the exception of a green vegetable. I will probably throw together a salad. Easy!

I did a quick painting tonight. Its just so so. I need to scour the internet for some pictures to paint. I am running out of stuff. I used real apples today and while it was ok, I don't have the proper lighting to make it good. I need a spot light to use.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. :)

Off to bed! Good night!

Solly 10-25-2010 08:51 AM

Good Morning! Hope you can hear me, I am at the rock bottom. I am miserable and it usually takes me to hit bottom before I can do anything so here I go. I totally think I am ready. I had a protein shake for breakfast and I have some Greek yogurt and fruit for a snack. For lunch I am going to try another protein shake and fruite. Diner is tortalinni and a salad. My DD wants to try the diabetes diet which I believe is pretty much the same as SB. I may do some research on it later.

Ellen if you have any info on the diabetes diet, I would appreciate it. Sounds like you are going to be a perfect fit for your new church. What a better job for you as a cooking mentor. I think you should do a grouping of yoru kitchen veggies. Those onions are so real. A group of items would look cute in a kitchen.

Toni, we got a lttle rain this morning but not near enough. It is supposed to warm up to 80 here today. I think it will be cooler the rest of the week.

Crystle, hope you had a good weekend. We did lots around the house yesterday, grocery, cleaning, dog bathing, cleaned out closets, & laundry I am paying for it today. I am stiff & sore all over.

Mecee, Good luck on your project. I hate those kinds.

Saturday I was not dizzy at all. I was so excited. Yesterdya at the grocery I raised my arm to get somethng off the top shelf and got dizzy. I was so dissappointed. I thought it might be gone. Was not too dizzy the rest of the day. So I will see what work brings today. I have a crick on my shoulder, I must have slept on it wrong.

I really need you guys for motivation. You really help me so much. Thanks for always being here for me no matter what. You are so important to me. I love you guys.

Ellen 10-25-2010 09:29 AM

Morning. I am moving slowly this morning. I woke up kind of early to the sound of rain and thunder. Tom was getting ready for work, and his exclamation while shaving when the power went out really woke me...along with the sudden stop to my positive air from my cpap machine! :) The power came back on rather quickly, but it kind of added an unwanted difference to the morning. I just finished making my morning espresso, and am sitting here sipping it. I already got a package of green coffee beans delivered by UPS this morning...he came EARLY. It was like 8:30 when he rang the doorbell.

The cat is freaking out because of the thunder. He is SO afraid during storms. He finally went out after going from door to door to try and find one that it was NOT raining out of! haha! I fully expect he is hiding in the garage, or under the deck.

SOLLY: I think the diabetes diet is more like weight watchers. I am not a fan. But that is because I am a diabetic and I know it doesn't work that well. SB is probably better. Why don't you just follow it? Or if you want to try something new, go take Mercola's nutritional typing test and follow his recommendations. We have been trying to incorporate his ideas for a few weeks and Tom says he is actually feeling much better. Another idea you might want to consider is reading Mark Hyman's UltraMetabolism. Tom followed his detox diet at the time I started eating Vegan, and even though he did not think he had much to lose he easily dropped 15. He is in better shape now than he has ever been in his life. With his running and eating right, the muscle definition is fantastic. He keeps teasing me that I need to paint a picture of him. I am considering it. haha!

TONI: I hope you are doing well. Have you tried making any Indian dishes yet? At the meeting I went to last night, as we discussed what to cook, I said I loved ethnic cooking and mentioned Chinese and Indian. The lady next to me made a horrible face which made everyone laugh. (this is the lady I have known for 30 years) Come to find out she does NOT like Indian! So it looks like no Indian cooking will be on the menu for that mentoring/cooking program! haha!

I think I have lunch plans today. And tomorrow. And maybe Friday. I have a doctor's appt. Wednesday afternoon and a hair appt. Thursday afternoon. Add small group tonight and covered dish on Wednesday...I know its not as busy as if I had a real job, but dang, I am already feeling the pressure!

Have a great day everyone!

Toni48 10-25-2010 12:25 PM

Good late morning everyone. I think you all got the rain that we were supposed to get and the weatherman promised. It was a lazy week end. And I sort of wish I would have got busy with something. Today I need to get moving. One of the things I need to do is go to the grocery store today and the post office.

Solly- I can really understand where you are. I've been in a slump for so long now. And I don't know how to crawl out of this. You know how to lose, you're and expert on it after all these years. You've just got to get motivated and start off 1 day or 1 hour at a time. Each day will make you stronger. Set a mini goal for your self. YOU CAN DO THIS..... I'm so happy each day you get better. So make it a celebration new health and now new eating. End up this year on a high note.

Ellen- I've gotten so lazy with my cooking I haven't done the Indian dish yet but I will get to it. I've got everything to do it with. That cooking class sounds so wonderful. What a shame that lady doesn't like Indian food. I would run all the way to have someone teach me. I love different foods. My thing is I've gotten out of my love of cooking and just want to do something easy and quick. It makes such a difference. And of course in an old country town population 600 its hard to find stuff to cook with. Enough excuses. Hope you get to cook Chinese in that class. You can bring so much to the class.

Hi Mercee and Crystle.....

Off to finish coffee.

CountryMom4Him 10-25-2010 02:11 PM

Howdy

Good afternoon ladies. I was dragging some tootie this morning but I did eventually get my work out in and some lunch. I'm hoping to add a little dancing. Zachary found out he likes 80's music. I was feeling a little moody yesterday and I danced for about 20 minutes. It really boosted my spirits.

Solly..woman you have got this! Right this second right this minute just decide that you are worth it. No matter what you feel like, not matter what things seem like, you ARE in control, you are in CHARGE. Like the song you are WOMAN hear you roar. And you are loved, by your family, by us and by our precious Savior. He will fill help you get the jump start that you need. I pray that his precious Holy Spirit just fill you to overflowing and that you walk in his peace and joy. I'm so sorry that the dizziness came back. On a positive note it left. That means it can leave again. I truly believe we have the power to move mountains. And I pray that God will move this mountain and you will be back to your new stronger self soon.:hug:

Ellen...I would have been one whiny camper if the UPS man showed up at my house that early. I am not friendly first thing in the morning. I need time to get moving..LOL Maybe you can still make something Indian that isn't that strong in flavor. I've never had Indian but it would be like saying you don't like Southern cooking. It is so varied. Your new church sounds like a perfect fit. God is so good. Did you make it to the WA?

Toni...Are you bored? If so we need to get you excited..:dizzy: You too can do this. You are one of the sweetest most precious people and you need to put you first. Get moving to keep that heart healthy and make it healthier. Moving also keeps us flexible and mobile. Make eating fun again. You can share ideas with me. I like healthy food but sometimes it seems a little bland since I'm eating "clean". Must be why I ate half a bag of chips the other night...shhh don't tell. :)

Mercee...You are a rock star lady. I hate that when I get to my replies I don't have a lot to say but I think it is because I just need to get to know you a little better still. I know you are super and really seem to have this eating and moving thing down pat. How are the temps in your part of the world? It is just plain hot here. Back in the 90's for the next three days. I want fall back! :dizzy:

I've been sitting at this keyboard for awhile. Somebody needs to give me a kick in the rear to get moving. Love you guys and hope today and this week is AWESOME!!!!

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Solly 10-26-2010 10:29 AM

Good morning 2 ladies. Still doing fine. Woke up with a crazy headache this morning. Maybe it was hunger. You all will get a good laugh out of this one. I can't button any or my pants so I have resorted to wrapping a rubber band around the button an button hole. at least it helps them zip. I will get back in them. I am determined.

Crytle  you are so sweet. I always have to hit rock bottom to get me motivated again. I just wish I could walk or do some type of exercise. The last time I lost all that wt with SB I didn't exercise until I had lost 50 lbs. So I can go maybe 20 w/o it and them hopefully I will be able to walk and do something. I think any kind of movement like dancing will help your mood. It at least takes your mind off stuff.

Ellen, my doggie was freaking out this moring. The winds are really high and we are suppsed to have tornado warnings or watches later. I will check out those sites. I just need something or maybe I don't. SB is pretty much good eating. Maybe you should tkae that lady some of your Indian food and she might change her mind. I definately think you should paint Tom!

Toni, you know how to do this also. I guess we just have to ask ourselve questions before we eat something. We can do this together. Come on. We have only gotten a sprinkle of rain in the last 2 days but supposed to be high winds and I guess some rain today Hopefully, but I could do without the tornado warnings.

At least I have a few things to do this morning so I am off to eat my Greek yogurt and fruit. Have a great one.

Mercee 10-26-2010 03:24 PM

Hello Ladies:

Just wanted to stop through and say hello and see how you allare doing.

Solly-You can do this. Maybe instead of just focusing on your weight focus on your health. I know they work together believe me if you focus on getting healthy the weightloss will follow. When I made the decision to really get my diabetes under control the weight is an added plus. You have achieved your goals before in this area so you can and will do it again.

Toni- You can do it. It is hard to stay motivated when we are not seeing the results we want but you can do this. Let's press on.

Ellen- Glad you are happy with your new church. Sometimes God leads us to another church.

Crystle- Thanks for all of your encouragement on this board. We don't always have to say alot to each other but I know we are cheering each other on to victory. Once before I stopped posting because I didn't feel I had much to say but I decided this time I would stick it out. We all will get to know each other better as time goes on. We are having a wind storm here today and tommorrow. So far I have not got blown away. LOL

Well back to work. I will talk to you ladies tommorrow. We are suppose to have winds of 50-60 MPH. Have a great day.

Mercee 10-26-2010 03:25 PM

You Ladies are the best. We can't win this race unless we choose to finish. Let's keep going.

Ellen 10-26-2010 04:30 PM

Hello everyone! My computer has been acting weird for two days now. I think it is my wireless mouse though. I have found I can navigate with out the problem if I use the arrow keys. It is annoying.

I had lunch with an old friend today. We ended up sitting there talking for almost three hours. I think they wanted us to leave already... :) We went to a Chinese place and I got Moo Goo Gai Pan. It was mostly meat...which was weird. Very few veggies. It was good though. I only ate half or less of the rice.

My cat has decided his best place for a bath is on my desk in front of my monitor. sigh....cats! I will try and get back here later to finish up when I can see what I am typing with out a furry orange head bobbing into my field of vision....
