Busting Sugar
Oh my gosh it doesn't look like spring here. Am I doing this right?
|
|
Hope you ladies are having a good week end. I spent yesterday from 10 to 6 at the church here. It was a ladies conference on Woman of Worth. It was a fun day. I ate the food they served which wasn't to bad. Lots of good fruit and a nice dinner. But I did have a big peice of cake. It was the first sweet thing I've had in ages. Hope it doesn't throw me off. I was sure tired last night. Slept like a log and woke up to a overcast rainy day. Now time to go make DH and me a mushroom and swiss cheese omelet....
|
Oh my gosh I can't believe not a single SB lady has been on here. Its so empty in this room. Got pork steaks cooking in the oven. Not sure what I'm having mine with maybe a sweet potato and a veggie like spinach. We watched Twilight New Moon today. I slept in the chair awhile so its been a great day.
|
Howdy
We had a very busy weekend. Eating was less than stellar but the scales were down one this morning so we'll see come weigh in if it catches up with me or not. Eating today was better.
Toni...my guys had pork steak also. :) ((Everybody)) Looking forward to chatting with ya'll this week. Love, Crystle |
Morning ladies:
Just wanted to check in and say hello. I had a great weekend with my hubby and sons. I can't wait until Wednesday then I am off work until 4/9/10 Yipee!!! The weather here is warming up this week and I will be able to walk on the trail everyday almost. My hubby and I have the same vacation so we plan to have a great time. together. Have a great day, I will check in later. |
Good morning. Having my last cup of coffee before I get up and cook breakfast. Think I'll run to town today and get stuff for a salad. Maybe have that with some chicken breasts tonight and spinach. Its beautiful out today.
Mercee- Thats so great you'll get some time off. And your walking plan sounds great. Crystle- Its good your eating is going well. Keep up the good work. |
Sorry I have been MIA, it has been a crazy last couple of days. No time for a post today. Tomorrow will be better. Just wanted to check in.
|
Good evening
I had a super fantastic day working in the garden, visiting with my mom and cooking good food. :) We had beets and beet greens/swish chard along with fish and some whole wheat pasta. Dessert was strawberries with bananas and yogurt. There is still a mess to clean up but I want to pop in and say howdy.
We have more planting to do tomorrow. ((Everybody)) Remember you are the BEST you there is!! :carrot::carrot: God bless, Crystle |
Well made chicken fajatias for dinner. They weren't very good. Healthy but icky. I ate one and some fat free beans. will be eating them for lunch all week, LOL. Better go clean up....
|
Quick check in for me. We had our granddaughter for the weekend and my MIL was here. The baby is afraid of men, and poor Grandpa could not get within three feet of her without her starting to cry. Thankfully, she warmed up to her Great Grandmama so I had some help. It felt like a very long weekend!
I just got a new book on a diet to help reverse diabetes. It is a low fat, low GI vegan diet and I am 99.9% sure I am going to do it for at least 12 weeks and see what happens. After 12 weeks, I may reintroduce fish, but if it works really great and I can get used to it, I may not. I need to go get in bed. Tom is already asleep. Will check in tomorrow... |
Good morning
Good morning. Today is going to be a busy day so I thought I'd sneak on and post before it got away from me. I forgot to tell ya'll yesterday the beets were from my garden. :) It is the first time that I grew them. What is really cool is that I have clay and even though it is hard the root veggies do very well. This winter we are going to plant a whole small garden with the beets since they did so well. Not only can we eat them but we can use them as feed. Jess is planting some field corn for me right now. The old timers used to eat it before sweet corn came out. We figured we would give it a try and if we can't eat it it would make good feed. That is if it grows. Corn is one of those veggies I've yet to conquer. Last year we came close but the coons got in it.
Email Tip: Add, Don't Subtract Instead of concentrating on cutting foods out of your diet, bring new foods to the table. There are probably a whole slew of fruits and vegetables you've never sampled. In order to prevent yourself from feeling deprived, train yourself to look at all the foods you can eat instead of those you should stay away from. Do some research and give healthy recipes a try. Thanks to the internet, there are thousands of diet-friendly dishes just waiting to be experienced. I love today's tip. There are so many new things I've tried over the last year that have really added variety to my diet. Even some old things that used to not be my favorites taste different as I've aged. Ellen..I wish you the best with your new plan. I don't believe I could give up all meat including fish. Though I have thought seriously of giving up most meat. I found some soyriso in the store and my husband just shook his head..LOL I told him I saw a show with it on it and it is suppose to be tasty. We live in such a small area I truly didn't think I'd find any. Then the next time I went to the store not only did I find it it was on sale. Talk about God smiling on us. It was less than two dollars instead of the normal over four dollars. I still need to get those tofu recipes from you. Solly...hope life is slowing down a bit for you now so you can catch your breath. ((hugzz)) Toni...what did you not like about the fajitas? Maybe if you saute some onions and peppers to go with them....or maybe warm in a little olive oil and more spices? Just a guess. Or maybe throw them in a salad with salsa. Hope you are getting a chance to enjoy this lovely weather. Bob...are you peepin' in? If so, praying for you and Kate. Tech...come on lady...come say howdy. ((hugzz)) Mercee...so jealous about your lovely walks. I'd love to trek through the woods and take along my camera. This time of year there are so many photo opportunities. Hope you are having a super day. HappyNow...Hope you are doing well. ((Everybody)) I appreciate each of you and what you add to this board. As the days get longer and more busy remember to take time for yourself. Enjoy the little things and the big things will work themselves out. God bless, Crystle |
Good morning yall....... Just got finished having oatmeal for breakfast. I know boring. Just dreaming of planting things in my pots. And maybe today will get my herb pot ready. Its going to be nearly 80 this week. I know its to early here but can't help getting excited about the thought of home grown tomatoes. LOL...... Going with a friend out for the day tomorrow. It will be so nice to get out for awhile.
Ellen- Hope you got a good nights rest. I just got the Kinder diet book to read. But I still eat meat but wanted to incorporate some veggie meals into my eating plan. Crystle- Thought todays tip was good too. It was a seasoning packet I used on the fajatias that was awful that I used. I had chicken, onions, and bell pepper in them on a whole wheat tortilla. I shouldn't haven't used the seasoning packet. Solly- Hope you're having a good day. Think I need to take a tiny nap. Be back later. |
Hi Ladies:
Busy time at work since I will be off until April 12th. Just wanted to check in. I will try and get back later and do individual post. Ellen- What book are you reading? Crsytle- Glad you enjoyed you day planting. I wish I had a garden. LOL Toni- I hate it when I use the wrong seasonings on something. Enjoy your day with your friend. Our weather here should change tommorrow. Solly- I hope you are having a good day. Have a great day everyone. |
Good Afternoon! I finally heard from the medical equipment company...well, I called them. They had their software fixed so I went over to get my information. Come to find out, the machine they gave me does not give the info I wanted. I was SO mad. They strung me along for THREE weeks, just to tell me it did not. And the doctor told me specifically he was ordering a machine that gave it. So, they gave me a cheaper machine than was prescribed. I can see now why my doctor's office doesn't like this company. They are supposedly going to order and swap the machine for me, but I am not going to hold my breath. Charlatans.
For lunch, I sauteed eggplant and onion with just cooking spray and then a few slices of tofu. It was very satisfying. I love Tuesdays...I have my oil painting class tonight. I need to think of something for Tom to eat for dinner, then I may take off early so I can be set up and ready to paint before class. MERCEE: The book is : Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes . So far, its interesting. He gives a scientific cause of insulin resistance, basically too much intra cellular fat, and thus the low fat diet works. I will let you know if it works for me as well as the Type 1 diabetic I met at Whole Foods who told me about the book. I need to go figure out dinner for my dearly beloved....will check in tomorrow. |
Just a quickie as it is time to go home.
A slow day to catch up on things. Ellen, even though I don't like much meat, I am not ready to give it up totally. I really don't like veggies either (haha). Enjoy your class tonight. Mercee, enjoy your time off. Toni, I would dread eating lunch all week if I had to eat something I didn't like. It is going to be beautiful here too. Crystle, sounds like you have a produce market growing at your house. Time to run, check in tomorrow. |
Biggest Loser was good but that darn woman got back on that I don't like. I think her name is Melissa. I love the idea of making your meals for the week at one time. How nice that would be. Probably won't be on tomorrow. Going out for the day.
|
Good afternoon
Just a quickie. :) I think I actually lost a pound this week.
God bless, Crystle |
Hi ladies,
My metal monster had me up 4 lbs. I know 2 of it is watter as I did not get my water pills in yesterday. I will see what it says tomorrow. Crystle, :cheer: good going on your loss. Keep up the good work. Hope the scale is good to everyone else. Off to get my nails done and show the dog sitter what to do with or dog. Have a gret night. The weather is beautiful here. |
Well ding, dang, darn I gained 2 lbs. this week but didn't take my water pills today so we'll see.
Crystle- Ya hooie for 1 lb. Congradulations. Solly- Maybe tomorrow will be better..... Had a great shopping day. Sure am beat now. |
Ohhhh *smile*
Just got in from a wonderful walk a few minutes ago. A friend chatted with me on the phone so 38 minutes passed in no time. And talk about beautiful outside, the wisteria is in bloom, the redbuds and numerous tiny little wild flowers. You can't help but feel good outside with all that and the sun warming your face. My tooth started hurting but I came in and took a couple of Advil. I really try not to take pain medicine if I can help it. Last night I had no choice. Next week the offending tooth will be gone. :) Other than snacking I haven't really eaten today so I'm thinking of making something for dinner.
Email Tip: Oat What A Feeling There's oatmeal that's loaded with additives and preservatives...and then there's the real deal. The experts encourage you to start your morning off with a bowl of plain oat flakes. Oats are rich in fiber and soluble fiber, making them a much-needed staple in your diet. According to the American Cancer Society, oats have plenty to offer. Reduce your risk of cancer. Lower cholesterol. Slow down the digestion of starches. Prevent heart disease. Boost your intake of Vitamin E, iron, magnesium, zinc, selenium and more. To add some flavor to your oatmeal, add milk and cinnamon or a handful of fresh fruit. Solly and Toni...as soon as you take the missing water pill you'll be way down. ((hugzz)). Ellen...Sorry about that ornery medical supply company. You would think you would get what's ordered and not what they feel like. Mercee...enjoy your time off. ((Everybody)) God bless, Crystle |
Just ate a big ole nice salad. Had a big lunch so thought I should be careful tonight. My feet and legs are swollen so keeping them up.
Crystle- good for you on the walking. Stuff is starting to bloom here but not as much as your place. I'm sorry about your tooth. It hurts my mouth just thinking about it. Off to finish my nice hot tea.... |
Good morning ladies. Just got in from the pain doc. Thought I was getting an epidural but instead he gave me 3 pain shots in the old behind. I have been having trouble walking, so he thinks it is the muscles more than the back, we will see. The back of my thighs are killing me when I walk or reach. I think he was stumped and opted to try something different. I didn't want to have to sit in a car for 4 hours in pain. I hope it helps.
Toni, hope you see better results when you get that water pill. I lost 2 of the four. If your legs are swollen, it has to be water. Crystle, if you don't have a walking buddy, a phome buddy works great too. Your walk sounded beautiful. The trees are blooming here and the grass has "greened" up nicely. It is actually starting to look like spring. finally. Hope that toothache holds off until you can get it fixed. Don't know if I will have time to get on tomorrow. I am only working a half day as we are leaving for Gatlinburg around 3:00 and I have decided to stay until Monday with my DD and SIL. My younges has a class on Monday mornings so she and my DH will come back Sunday night. Just another day to spend with my GS. Just in case, Easter blessings to each of you. Hopefully Easter will bring us all a renewed hope. :bunny: |
Good morning
Howdy ya'll. Not sure what today holds but I'm slow getting started. We stayed up way to late again last night. Still drinking my first cup of coffee even though I've been up for a while.
Solly...praying that you are able to ride and not be in pain. I hope the shots do the trick. Happy Easter. Toni...doing so much better with the antibiotics. Thank you so much for your prayers on facebook. Hope you are having a good morning so far. Ellen...Mercee...happy now...tech...((hugzz)) Try to sneak back later. God bless, Crystle |
Good morning. Finishing up my last cup of coffee for the day and am going to make breakfast in a minute. We're going to have a wonderful hot day here today. I'm loving this weather. Guess I'll do wash and house stuff today.
Solly- Have a wonderful Easter trip with your family. And spoil that Grandbaby lots. Hope the pain goes away so you can ride better. Crystle- Hope you have a wonderful day. Are you tracking points on Sparks people? I go there all the time but haven't used it to track my food. I'm off to hunt for food.... |
just wanted to wish everyone a holy and happy easter. the weather is up in the 70's, warmer here than where i lived in florida!
up 2 pounds this week, have the bronchitis back again! and have been eating some not so legal foods (ice cream!!!!) when i don't feel well i tend to want to eat comfort foods, oh well...... the easter bunny will skip our house except for a chocolate bunny and jelly beans for my daughter and a sf bunny for me. hugs to everyone.... chris |
Had a fiber bar earlier and then a healthy yummy turkey sand. for lunch. I also walked on the treadmill today. :egg::bunny2::bunny2:
|
Good afternoon
What a great day so far. Robert and Jess finished working on the porch and Zachary helped with part of the clean up. I walked for the third day in a row...go me..LOL The best part of the morning was when I went out to shoot my bow and arrow for the first time in a year or two, maybe longer. I was able to pull back the bow better than I ever have. I think it is the counter push ups that I do daily. They are really making my back and arms stronger. My goal is to one day do real push ups. I can do about five or ten almost push ups on the floor. Nothing to write home about, but one day.
Eating has been good because I haven't had much of an appetite. A blessing for sure. Yesterday I was munching on a cucumber and because I was chit chatting at the same time I ate almost the whole thing before I knew it. Good thing it wasn't chocolate. :carrot: I do have some planting I need to get done but there are some cabinets I need to rearrange first. My guys are giving me the look. They think I'm wacky because I do this about once or twice a year. Daily email tip: Be Pro Protein Listen up carboholics! There's life beyond pasta and bread...and it could mean the difference between losing and gaining. Many people don't realize the importance of protein. However, protein is responsible for giving the metabolism a bigger boost than either carbs or fats. Consuming proteins like fish, chicken, eggs, milk, cheese and tofu enables the body to maintain and build muscle mass -- and the more muscle you have, the better your metabolism. Add some sort of lean protein to every meal to reap the benefits. I read Joy Bauers Life diet book yesterday. It was really interesting because it reminded me of the first time I lost weight and a lot of the ways I ate then. The biggest being no carbs at the dinner meal. I think even with the healthy carbs I need to veggie load versus the whole wheat stuff. Toni...WTG with the treadmill. :carrot::carrot: I do a little points at Spark but not too much. The computer is too slow and I find myself sitting more than moving. I do the daily quiz and a poll and sign in. Sometimes I get my email points. HappyNow...so sorry you are feeling poorly again. ((hugzz)) hang in there. Ellen...are you staying very busy? How is your new diet going? ((Everybody)) God bless, Crystle |
Good morning. Was gone most of yesterday grocery shopping. I got lots of wonderful veggies. And am trying eggplant this month. I've been trying to cook different veggies that I haven't in the past. Last month was kale. I did find some nice organic things. Like bananas, broccoli and cauliflower. I got allot more ground turkey instead of beef this time. Got a call from some friends but more like family people yesterday with and invite for Easter dinner. So today going to make a couple things to bring for the meal. Don't know what yet. What are you all planning?
Crystle-I hope you're feeling better. Sounds like your men have been busy. I'm loving this warmer weather here. Even the rain showers we got last night. Happy- Hope you're feeling better too. Well better go cook breakfast. I can hear Steve's belly growling. LOL |
The pollen has burst out in full force here and I am suffering worse than ever before with it. My lungs feel like they are on fire, I am congested, and my head just might explode! I can't stop though, so I seared the leg of lamb and put it in the marinade to take to my daughter's tomorrow, prepared baskets for the grandkids, and tomorrow morning I will throw the ham in the oven to bake while we are at church, then carry it up to my daughter's too. I have a long list of stuff to take, and I honestly have not given it much thought today since I feel crappy. I even took a two hour nap!
Happy Easter, Buster friends! I hope it is full of peace, and joy for you and yours. I am heading to bed! Oh, and tonight I caved a bit on the vegan part and ate a veggie pizza I made with a gluten free crust. It was good.... and I tried to be conservative with my portion, but I think I could have done better than I did. :o |
:easter2:Good morning everyone. We just had poached eggs on whole wheat toast. Its a beautiful day out. Last night I did awful. I had wine and some awful pizza rolls. I don't even like them. But was hungry late at night and DH made a plate full. I hate when I do that.
Ellen- Hope you get to feeling better. You'll be so busy today.... Have a wonderful Easter with your family.... Crystle- Hope you having a wonderful day. Blessings to you all..... |
Off to the doctors with my friend while she gets blood work. It will be a long day. Have a good one everybody...
|
Good morning
I did NOT have and OP weekend. :dizzy: But it was a great weekend. I told my sister as I was eating cupcakes that I had to share my indiscretions with my weight loss group. Shame...naw I really don't feel shamed. Just being honest so if I don't lose or gain it is on the record. Crystle not only ate two cupcakes but she ate chips. The overall day was a blast. We fished in the pond and rode the 4 wheeler. I did miss my little guy because Britt has a major Easter party at her house. We will be going to her house in the future so we don't miss him.
Hope ya'll are having a great day. I'll try to touch back later but I have a 101 things to do today. God bless, Crystle |
Didn't eat good this week end either. Think I'll skip the scale this week. And try hard to get back to eating well. The woods here are alive with red buds and wild plum trees. Had a long day out and slept in my chair most the day.
Where are you Solly and Ellen and the rest of you ladies. Its lonely here.... |
Where is everyone?
|
I'm back, but we have 2 bids today so I will be on later to do replies.
|
Good morning
Had a great eating day yesterday. Made me feel a lot better about my weekend choices. Lunch was a salad made of romaine lettuce, sliced strawberries drizzled with balsamic vinegar. I also mowed my mom's front yard and pulled some weeds for my exercise. Today I am a bit nervous about a couple of things so I don't feel like eating yet. Maybe when I visit with my daughter and little man I can forget those things that are bothering me. Going to the dentist tomorrow is probably one of them. :dizzy:
I like today's email tip. I've started doing this when I go to visit places. Email Tip: Bring Your Own Snacks To Outings When you attend a theme park or a ball game, it's easy to fall prey to concession stands offering hot dogs, sodas, cheese nachos and other high-calorie favorites. Instead of buying into fattening fare, pack your own cooler. Bring along bottled water, cold cuts, fresh fruit, pretzels and other convenient foods that will provide nourishment and satisfaction for the whole family. Did we mention you'll also save money? ((Everybody)) Hope you are having a super day. Toni...Don't you just love this time of year. Love and hugs, Crystle |
I hope everyone had a happy and blessed Easter. It did not seem like Easter since we were away but we had a great time. Well, I know I did. Nothing like having your grandson 90% of the time for 3 days. I came back yesterday with my DD. My DH & youngest DD came back Sunday night. I almost cried when he left last night.
Of course eating was horrible. It has been very warm here and I had to dig out my summer clothes and of course they don't fit or look horrible. So I need to get back on track and get going before vacation time. Toni, good job getting on that treadmill. I love this weather also. I think that is neat that you are trying different veggies each month. Happy, sorry you are sick again. Feel better. Ellen, Just read something on allergies today, (1) take your shoes off before entering the house, (2) take a shower before you go to bed to wash off the pollen. That's the only ones I can remember. Crystle, "cheer" WTG getting in all those walks. Maybe you can walk off those cupcakes. I hope to start that everyday too witht he weather changing. I agree with your tip. In fact I am getting ready to start a new protein diet, very similar to SB but you eat 90 grames of protein daily. I will get mine from protein shakes and some meat and cheese. Sending prayers that the things making you nervous slip right away. Going to get back to work, Going to grill out steaks for dinner and a salad. Have a great evening. |
Good morning. Forgot to weigh in. I'll have to do that tomorrow. Hope you all do well.
Solly- Sounds like you had a nice Easter. I'll bet your Grandson enjoyed all the attention from Grandma. Crystle- Your lunch sounds wonderful. Thats really a good tip. Sorry so short..... |
Where is everyone. I know on Face Book.
The scale was the same as last week. I believe. How that happened with this weekend is beyond me. But I will take it. Toni, hope you see a loss tomorrow. Going to take a proposal. Have a great evening. |
