Hello everyone! I went to class this morning. I am wiped out! In a good way. Just finished up lunch..sauteed eggplant with mushrooms and onions in olive oil, two raw carrots and a bit of turkey sandwich meat. And I am drinking darjeeling tea iced.
Its beautifully cool here today! Like around 70! I wish I could go walk, but my plantar fascitis is bothering me again. I bruised my heel walking at the outlet mall a week or so ago when I went to get the tea kettle and its still bothering me. SOLLY: Are you using your cpap machine? I just got new filters, hose and mask. My insurance replaces them every six months. I can't believe its been that long, but I so glad I got the machine now. I sleep SO much better, and feel much better too. I am looking up some info on stroke and rehab...will let you know when I find something that sounds helpful or informative. Right now, I have not had much time to sit for a spell and really look...but I will eventually. In the meantime I have read that exercise is helpful to strengthen and retrain, etc. I would suggest starting out really slowly...like 10 or 15 minutes walking max. Do that for two weeks, and then add five minutes. You definitely do NOT want to overdo it. And you don't want to skip it. Small steps...and build. MERCEE: Glad you could take a day to chill. We all need that now and then. How is the weather up there? Its finally cooled off here in the south. I was afraid it never would! Usually by this time, we are ready to close the pool cause no one has been in for weeks. It is probably almost warm enough to swim now. In fact, if it goes back up into the 80's I probably will..... I am going to go make oat bran muffins for my poor hubby to take to work. Tomorrow he has to go in early...they have a release. I will be SO glad when its over. |
Howdy all. Just had a sandwich on a bread round with this sliced ham and baby swiss. Yummy. Not much going on here today so I'm kind of boring.
Ellen- Thats great you went to the pool again. Sounds like you're busy and doing good. Would love an oat bran muffin. Solly- I'm so sorry you're having a bad day today. Hopefully things will get better as the day goes on. That was so good you ate right and walked. Pray your days will get better fast. Mercee-Hope your cold gets better soon. Crystle- Hope you're having a good day. |
Howdy
Hey ya'll. Today is just beautiful here in Texas. It is about 80 degrees right now. It is gonna warm up tomorrow but overall it is still going to be nice. I actually got my lazy tootie out the door for a walk/jog this morning. I'm very proud that I jogged even though I cheated and only jogged on the downhill portions. Had my best outside time of 26 minutes for two miles. The hills are a booty kicker. It was weird to not even break a sweat because of the lower temps. Usually you sweat before you even start. Eating was better today. I actually ate breakfast. A yummy egg/egg white scramble with asparagus and mushrooms with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Only 165 calories and filling. Not sure about lunch yet. I'm not hungry.
Solly...(((hugzzzz))) Sorry you are still feeling poorly. Praying that you get stronger and stronger every day. That your body will heal and repair itself. Mercee...So sorry you have another yucky cold. Hope you feel tons better soon. It is hard enough to eat healthy and move when we feel good. Ellen...Wish we lived closer. I may not be hungry but I could really enjoy the eggplant. :D Toni...okay I wasn't hungry but between the eggplant and your swiss cheese I'm thinking about food and it sounds good..LOL I should be mowing but my youngest is having trouble with his asthma and we do not want to stir up more irritants. I guess I'll try tomorrow. Ladies, you are awesome. ((((Everybody)))) Love and hugs, Crystle |
Just passing through. Feeling the after effects of the workout...sore and achy. I hope its better in the morning! Tom has to go in at 5 tomorrow for his release...I hope I don't wake up when he does and then have trouble going back to sleep.
For dinner tonight I had a Ahi tuna steak, roasted asparagus and a spoonful of fresh zipper peas. The peas were not a wise choice for me, but I wanted to taste them. I had a snack of a bowl of popcorn...I finished off the popcorn in the cabinet, and I knew it was the last bowl for a while. I am gradually reducing the carbs in my diet and moving towards really low GI foods. Its a lot harder than I thought it would be! Tomorrow I am supposed to have lunch with a friend. We are going to that all you can eat salad place....which is perfect! I can eat a lot of salad, and still be on plan. Time to go to bed! Good night! :grouphug: |
Good morning Ladies:
I am happy to report I am down 3 lbs. Yipee!! Crystle-Good job with your walking and jogging. You are doing great. 2 miles in 26 minutes is fantastic. Ellen-Hope you enjoy youe lunch date today. Your dinner sounds great. What are zipper peas? Toni-Hope you are having a great morning. Solly- I hope you are feeling better today. Not much to report here. I came in early to get caught up at work and everyone is bothering me. LOL Have a great day everyone. |
Hi ladies, Feeling better today, still dizzy but nothing like yesterday, thank goodness. I am logging my food and trying to stay around 1300 calories. We did walk around the block last night and we went just a little farther. Hopefully that will help. I am sitting here enjoying my thin k bagel with peanut butter. Pretty tasty.
Ellen, Yes I am using that Cpap machine. At first I didn't get up to go to the bathroom, but I am now. I usually go around 5:00 and then I take the machine off for the last hour. Ihave not been able to get back to the sleep dr since I can't drive. I am hoping in 2 weeks I can make it. So glad you are lking the aerobics. It will help you go more. Try rolling your foot on a frozen water bottle, it really helped me get over the planter fascitis faster. Hey how come your score it so high on B Blitz? I can't get that high no matter what I try. Toni, I really enjoyed BL last night but I had to go to bed right after the challenge. Who got voted off? I bet it was the older lady. I'm having your lunch (minus the cheese) today. Mercee, I hope your cold gets better soon. Nothing worse than a summer cold. Maybe you should go easy on the exercise until it is gone. Crystle, Allergies have been horrible right now. My poor DD's are suffering and one had to get a Zpack to ease her sneezing, head stuff. You are doing great with your walking. I am trying to catch up, but will never jog. Off to do some work, I am taking it easy and not doing much to tax myself. Have a great day. I don't know what I would do without you guys. |
Good morning
I am so excited this morning. Down two pounds and out of the 180's. I'm sore all over. I don't know if it is from the jogging yesterday or the jogging without sneakers during the biggest loser commercials. :carrot: On another site I saw a challenge to exercise during the biggest loser commercials. I only did 25 minutes worth but it was kinda neat. I jogged around in my tiny little house, did jumping jacks and some two footed jumps and tapped the wall. My kids thought I'd lost it. What was really neat was I'd get just about cooled down when it was time to get moving again.
Mercee..WTG You are consistently losing three pounds. I am jealous in a good way. You are doing GREAT. Ellen...hope you have a blast at lunch. You dinner sounded delicious. I haven't had tuna in ages. Solly...I hope you are feeling stronger and better this morning. Hope your appetite comes back soon so you can eat the things that will help you get stronger. Toni...Good morning. How is the weather in your neck of the woods? We have a front coming through later this week so I know you will get it first. It is just going to reinforce our 80's. The best part is it is cool at night. Are you still sneaking in a little walking? Love and hugs, Crystle |
Good morning gals. I'm happy to report I'm down 1 lb. today. I'm getting so close to the end of the 190's. Just two and a half lbs. to go. Today I've got an eye exam. Hope I get new glasses.
Mercee- Wow 3 lbs. is wonderful. My gosh you're doing so good. Hope the cold is getting better. Solly- Dang woman you're doing really well. The young black woman got voted off. The older woman Tina got to stay. I was happy for her. Weren't some of those losses amazing! Crystle- Yippee 2 lbs. and out of the 180's. Keep up the good work. That was cool how you kept moving on the commercials. Ellen- I've never had fresh tuna before but it sure sounds wonderful. Hope your workout is great and you get a little nap in today. Well off to finish my coffee.... |
Wow!! Congratulations to all of the wonderful losers here.
Crystle and Toni :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I love biggest loser also I just watched last week last night. I plan to catch up by the weekend. I haven't decided who I am going to cheer for yet. Have a great day everyone. |
Hello everyone! I meant to get on here earlier, and I don't know where the time went! I did not go to lunch as planned today, so I went to WA as usual. That is three days in a row! Woo hoo! And I am going to go tomorrow. I did remember to weigh and I was down 1 pound. I would have loved for more, but I will take it.
We had a potluck tonight to go to. I was so so on the food. I concentrated on vegetables, and ate half a chicken breast which was from KFC. So probably not too bad. I slept very poorly last night, so I am about to head to bed, and am hoping I can sleep better. I fell asleep easily, but woke up an hour later, and then could not go back to sleep again. Congrats to all you losers this week! :) SOLLY: You sound better. That makes me glad. I am glad the dizzy stuff is better today. Sounds like you are adapting to the cpap therapy pretty well. At least you are not like my husband, who takes his mask off sometime in the middle of the night...usually not more than an hour or two after he goes to sleep....and does not remember doing it. He wakes up in the morning with the machine turned off and the mask carefully hung on the back of the chair. Its driving me nuts! I can't for the life of me figure out what his problem is! |
SOLLY: I forgot to answer your question about Bejeweled... I don't know. I sometimes have a great game, and get a tremendous score, and I really don't know what I did differently. My overall strategy is to try and make four matches, and L's and T's for those exploding gems if I can, but I mostly just go as fast as I can. Right now I have a friend who has a score of 640k. She consistently scores really high like that. I have asked her what she does, and she has a regular strategy, but it sounds like the same as mine...I think she is just really fast.

Good morning ladies, I am feeling much better today so I am hoping this is a trend to better health. I say I felt better with the dizziness, but my back was killing me and my legs. I could hardly lift them to dry or put on my pants so I slapped on a pain patch in hopes it helps. I have t concentrate on the dizziness first and back to driving. Hopefully by Monday.
Cystle, I am so jealous of you in the 170's. You were supposed to wait for me. I weighed this morning and I was down 5 lbs and 1 since yesterday so it is a start. I did walk last night just me and the dog. I was going to do another trip and a neighbor caught me and was talking and then it was dark so I was afraid I would trip or something stupid by myself. Keep up the good work. That is such a good idea working out during the commercials. Toni, congrats on your loss too. Glad you are close to the 180's. It is cooler here today too.I finally watched the BL last night. I wasn't sure who I wanted to go home. I haven't picked a favorite yet either. Mercee, hope your cold is better. I really enjoy the BL and I watched Jillian's show all summer. They sure whork them hard. Some of those losses were unbelievable. I was thinking I would like to have the 41 lbs that man lost and I could be done. Ellen, You are doing so great with your WA. I'm glad you like it. My SIL takes his CPAP machine off during the night too but I'm sure he just throws it n the floor. I don't see how you all make those scores on BB. I barely have time to make matches much less look for 4 in a row or L's or T's. Goodness! Off to start some work. Have a great day. |
Got in from water aerobics a few minutes ago. That is four days in a row! Woo hoo! I am sore, but it felt great to make that goal.
My daughter is coming over this afternoon for a bit, and they have an appointment later this afternoon so I am babysitting my grandson. I can't wait to see him! Since he is now in school I don't get to see him as often. Weekends can be so busy. I wish they lived closer. Ok, off to find something good for lunch. I am leaning towards some sauteed eggplant...I have the pretty white and purple striped ones to try! |
Good morning Ladies:
Nothing new to report or say but I wanted to say Hello to my friends. Have a great day everyone. |
Howdy ho all. Stayed up late so slept late today. My little Jackson woke me up jumping on the bed. He was bound and determined to get me up. Looks like another beautiful day. Now we're supposed to have a cold front coming in. Had chicken breast, green beans and salad for dinner last night. Hope I can think of something more exciteing for tonight. Dinners are getting pretty boring around here.
Mercee- Hope you have a good day too. Ellen- You are on a roll with WA. Four days is awesome. Sounds like you'll have a good afternoon with your Grandson. Solly- Congrads on the 5 lbs. Thats great and you'll be out of the 180's soon. Just keep up the good work. I can't believe you're walking with all the stuff going on with you. Do you think thats why your back was so sore today? Good thoughts for you. Crystle- Hows it going with you? Off to finish my coffee and get breakfast/lunch. |
Howdy
Hey ya'll. I have been mowing and mowing and mowing. Almost three hours worth in the last two days and I am one sore cookie. I even managed to get in an hour walk walk walk tape. Today I'm feeling lazy and thinking of doing a 30 minute tape. Tomorrow is going to be my off day, I think. Ate some tuna salad for breakfast, more like brunch time. Thinking of making me some cabbage for lunch. I'll probably have chili for dinner since I made such a big pot last night. And it taste SO good. The guys are having frito pies with it.
Mercee...it is so good to see you even when you have nothing new to report. Hope you have a super day. Ellen...you are rocking the WA! :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot: Keep up the good work. Solly...you lady are a rock star. Good job getting out there and walking. You constantly amaze me. So glad you are feeling better. Toni...What kind of ideas are you looking for? You can oven bake some chicken tenders when you have breast. One of my favorites is to cook the breast with some onions in the fry pan with a touch of olive oil. Remove the breast throw in a can of crushed tomatoes, spices, olives and then put the chicken back in. Then serve over whole wheat pasta. Egg scrambles are a quick high protein meal also. My hubby and I had that the other day with just mushrooms and asparagus. He didn't even miss the extra yolks. I use one egg and two egg whites per person. I'm looking forward to the next front. It is starting to get just a smidge too warm. ((Everybody)) Remember you ROCK! You are AWESOME! And you are the BEST you there is. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Just had some chinese food for dinner. It was okay. Made brown rice to go with it. Just finished cleaning the kitchen. Glad thats over with.
Crystle- Thanks for the recipe. I don't know what I want just something different and easy. You sure got the exercise in with all that mowing. Today would have been a beautiful day here for mowing. So beautiful out with a nice breeze blowing. Back to relaxing.... |
I had a wonderful time with my grandson. My daughter carried him in since he had fallen asleep in the car on the way here. He was SO out of it, I just sat down and held him for 20 minutes on my lap while he slept. Bet that won't happen many more times with him, so I reveled in the experience thinking it might be the last time. He was in his karate uniform...he gets to take a class after school once a week and he just started it. He is real excited about it. We picked okra and peppers in the garden, he put together a big dinosaur puzzle, and drank half a gallon of milk mixed with chocolate syrup... :) I hated to see him go home.
Tom has to get up and baby sit their release at 2am. Thankfully he has a work lap top and can do it from home. His boss told him not to come into the office tomorrow, so hopefully he won't have to be online with work stuff all night. I am hoping I can talk him into taking me out for dinner for our anniversary finally..it was almost a month ago! :) TONI: Do you want me to give you a simple Indian recipe for that chicken? I can...and you can serve it with the brown rice...and make the green beans with an Indian recipe too..just let me know and I can post it or send it. |
Ellen- Yes, yes and double yes. Thank you so much. I'll pm my email address. Yippee.....
|
Good morning ladies, I tink I am on the mend and today I feel yucky. We walked further last night which was good. Maybe I over did it but the lady from the stroke center here called me and said exercise is the best thing to heal the brain. So I tried it. I just want this to be over. I know God does not give you more than you can handle, but I think I have had my share. Just keep treading along. We have a family wedding tonight (DH side whih we never see) and I am not looking forward to it. Tomorrow we are going to a big farm in IN to get pumkins and eat. They have everything there from aples, ice cream, a winery etc. My SIL parents are going also since they got mad we went the last time and they didn't. Silly.
Ellen, Glad you had such a wonderful time with your GS. There is nothing like that time. I cherish it. In fact we are taking our to the wedding tonight. My DH wants to show him off. You rock with your WA. Keep it up. Crystle, wow that was a lot of mowing and exercise. You should see a good loss next week. Hope it cools off for you soon. I think a cold front is on the way. Toni, I must have had a typo, I am in the 190's down today but I can't remember what it said. My mind is a mess right now. I just told MY DH last night that I bet my back hurt from the walking so I am dammed if I do and dammed if I don't. I usually have boring dinners too. Just the way I cook with not much time. Last night I made chili, 8% fat in the burger and I drained that and used ww spaghetti and 3 kinds of beans so it should have been pretty legal. The cold is coming which I like Fall, just not winter. Mercee, we do like hearing from you. Have a great weekend. Have a nice weekend everyone. See you Monday |
My sweet neighbor passed away last night. I am very heavy hearted this morning.
No water aerobics today...they only offer a boot camp class that is shallow and deep for an hour and a half, and it costs over twice as much. I will take today as a rest day! I may try to get in a walk or two over the weekend, even though my heel is very sore from when I bruised it walking at the mall two weeks ago. I hope everyone has a great weekend. |
Ellen- Sorry to hear about your neighbor. I will be prying for ou and her family.
Solly- I hope you enjoy your wediing this weekend we have one tomorrow. I told my husband this is nuts we have been to 2 weddings in the last 2 weeks. Crystle- Wow you rock girl all that mowing and still walked that is great. Toni-- I get tired sometimes of making the same dishes as well. I have so many cookbooks I guess I need to use them. LOL Have a great weekend everyone. I am hitting the gym tonight and ealr tomorrow before the wedding. Talk to you great ladies later. |
Hello everyone. Tomorrow I get to go to my outdoor dutch oven cooking class. I can't wait. I've got a friend going with me so it ought to be fun. The weather is wonderful here. The high tomorrow is 68. I got cold in the night and had to get up and put our heavy comforter on the bed. Fall is really here.
Ellen- Prayers for your friends family and for you too. Maybe today you can just take it easy. Solly- I sure think you've had your share. You're sure doing good with the exercise. Sounds like you've got a busy week end planned. Don't get over tired. Mercee- You're busy too. We have a wedding to go to on the 17th. Its outside and I'm afraid its going to be cold. Keep up with that exercise. Crystle- Think this would be a good day for a pot of chili. To bad I don't have the stuff to make it. Hope you get a walk in today. |
It is so cool here and will be for the next few weeks, so it is definitely fall, we turned off the air conditioner finally! Yay!
Tonight we went to a fancy seafood restaurant we had a gift card for. I got a steamed lobster. I have never ordered a whole lobster in a restaurant before, and it was an experience. I don't think I will ever need to do it again! :) It was SO expensive! But since we did not have to pay for it, it was a good time to have the experience. Tom got salmon, but with our two entrees, it came to almost $100!!! yikes! We have enough for a cheap lunch at one of the restaurants in the group the card is for left, so we might think about using it in a few weeks. I am going to breakfast with my neighbor..sister of the one who passed away last night...in the morning. I suspect it will be bittersweet. She is my dear friend, and I know she is grieving deeply. TONI: I will either email or post the recipes I promised you soon. I am sorry I have not had time to type them out yet. I have not forgotten! I will just give you the 'make your own' paste recipe since you probably will not be able to find the bottled paste. If you like it, and want to try varieties, let me send you some of the bottled paste. USPS priority flat rate boxes are cheap. :) |
Great advice on cutting sugar. I'm new here and this site looks like a great place for support and fun!!
To cut back on my sugar I drink more water, brush my teeth more often, and if I really need a fix I go buy a small bag of Jelly Belly's from Win-cos bulk section. :) |
Good afternoon. I went to my dutch oven cooking class. I had so much fun as did my friend. It was so fun to see what you could make and put the charcoal on the top and bottom and cook outside. There were about 13 pots with some kind of food in them. And I have to say this was a cheat day for me. There was nothing healthy. I couldn't believe some of the foods they made. Biscuits, cornbread, cheesy potatoes, stew, Mtn. Man breakfast, oatmeal, dump cake etc. Now I'm just pooped out. The day was cool and a nice breeze blowing. I've come home and put my sweats on and rolled in a blanket.
Ellen- Oh boy Ellen I love the recipes and am going to get the stuff to make the chicken breasts tomorrow. I just got the red chili powder from an Indian store on line. Hope I can find the rest tomorrow. I'll probably have you get me a couple of things I can't find next. Thank you so much. annputation- Welcome, welcome to our little group. We're slow on the week end so don't give up on us. This is great support and wonderful ladies here. Hope everyone is busy and having a great week end. |
Good morning
That is so cool Toni! I'm so glad you finally got to try dutch oven cooking. Can't wait to here some of the things you start cooking. And how much more fun that your friend went with you. My hubby says that sounds like something he and I could do together. I don't know of any classes around here but it would be nice.
Welcome annuputaion. These ladies truly are the greatest. They are a wealth of information. They are also a testament to how well this way of eating works. Ellen...hope you are doing alright this weekend. I know it has to be quit emotional. Solly...how are you feeling? Are you getting this lovely weather? I was gonna be lazy this morning but I met a lady at SparkPeople and she has become my long distance walking buddy. LOL Believe it or not it works. She walks father and faster and since I am so competitive I walked an extra mile yesterday morning while we were walking at the same time.:dizzy: Mercee...Hope you are having an amazing weekend. It is just so beautiful here in Texas. I understand why all the animals get so active when the weather changes. It just really lifts your spirit and energy level. I pray each of you has a blessed and full day today. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Happy Monday ladies! I wish I were home in bed. I felt kinda good this morning but since the ride in here (I still can't drive) I am sick at my stomach. Maybe it was the thought of coming in here. ha-ha. Busy weekend but I tend to push on. I'll rest at work ha-ha.
Ellen, I am sorry about your friend but she is in a much better place and pain free now. Prayers for her family and you. I;m not a lobster fam myself but at least you got your anniversary dinner. Ton, your cooking class sounds fun. I am glad you found someone to go with you. All the food sounded delish to me. Annputation, Welcome to our board. It is a great board and you will get lots of advice here. Crystle, It is cool here. It was freezing Saturday at Huber's and it rained the whole time. It was miserable. It is neat that you have a walking buddy even if it is long distance. Whatever keeps you going. Mecee, the wedding was nice. It was nice seeing his family which we never see. The baby was an angle and walked everywere. We also have another one on the 16th and one in Nov. It is either feast or famine. Have a great day. Going to do some work. (very little) |
Morning! Killing a little time before I need to head out to water aerobics. Its very chilly this morning...the thought of getting in the cold pool is not exactly inviting. :) My bg was not good this morning...still trying to figure out why.
My bruised heel/plantar fascitis is bad this morning. Probably due to the cold. I am so mad about it. I had hoped to never have this problem again. I just read an article on GMO foods, and how the companies that produce them work VERY hard to intimidate and punish any researchers that find poor results from their use. Scary stuff! I am going to work even harder to avoid genetically modified foods. Top of the list is of course, corn. I will be back later! Gonna go suit up for class! |
Howdy ho. Just about ready to cook breakfast/lunch. Just finishing up my coffee. I had to get up really early the last two mornings so it felt good to be lazy. I've got lots of good stuff to cook with now that we went shopping. Think I might make a pot of taco soup for dinner. Have to do laundry and a few things today. So better get started.
Solly- Oh no thats awful you're having a bad day. Its just unreal what you're having to go through. Wish a cup of warm chicken broth would settle your stomach and you had some. It was so cool over the week end here too. We've got an outdoor wedding to go to the 17th. Hope it isn't freezeing then. Your Grandson sounds adorable. Ellen- Well my shopping trip was a bust yesterday as far as Indian food. I'm having such a hard time. I ordered the Mango chutney from Amazon. You wouldn't believe how backward they are around here. I am going to make that chicken or bust. LOL I did get the red pepper from an Indian store. Its already here. Oh boy good for you with your WA. You're really committed. I've read about GMO foods and its so scary. Crystle- There was lots of couples in that class. I was sad mine wouldn't go and I think he was kind of sorry he didn't. Next year she's supposed to use tripods to cook on. Well I'm off to do my thing now. |
Howdy
Just a quickie to let you guys know....YOU ALL ROCK! Keep up the good work ladies.
Solly, hope your tummy feels better this evening. Love and hugs, Crystle |
I had a busy busy day! I went to water aerobics, came home and ate some brunch...I was so bad! I had three eggs! I am not supposed to eat them, but they were SO good! :) I made chili, then some curried chickpeas. Tomorrow for dinner I will just need to fix a piece of fish and I can serve the chickpeas..or chole as its called...and a bit of brown rice.
I am so confused about what to do about how to eat. I lost weight on the vegan diet, but was it from the vegan diet, or starting my cpap therapy? My blood sugar levels will drop, then pop back up again. Often I can NOT explain what is causing the rise, or even the drop. I can not find a doctor I trust. I need to quit whining. I am just frustrated. I had hoped to see better numbers this morning after a good one hour work out in the pool, but instead, it went up! ARGHHH! SOLLY: I hope you are feeling better. TONI: Bummer about the Indian ingredients...but I keep telling you, I will send you stuff. Its much cheaper for me to purchase and mail you stuff then buying off Amazon or some Indian online store.... COUNTRY: Those pix of your little man on FB were adorable! He really is a cutie pie! Kick my hiney...I am thinking of skipping WA in the morning! Bedtime! Good night everyone! |
Good morning ladies:
We went to a beautful wedding this weekend. We knew both the bride and groom since they were 5 years old!! It was amazing. I went to my Doctor yesterday for my diabetic check-up and she was blown away my a1c was 5.9. She was excited about the weightloss as well and told me to keep up the good work. I couldn't believeI was hearing that from her she tends to be negative. Sooly- I hope you are feeling better today. Get some rest you just had surgery a few weeks ago. Remember you are recovering!!! Toni-- Your cooking class sounds wonderful. How did your taco soup turn out that sounds different. LOL Ellen- I hope ypur heel is feeling better. Being a diabetic myself you have to find a plan that works for you. It may be a combination plan but you will know what is right for you. Don't be so hard on yourself. Keep up the good work with your WA class. It may take a few weeks but you will see a turn around. Crystle-You Rock as well!!!! Have a great day everyone. |
Good morning ladies,
Feeling better today, but boy am I dizzy. I feel like that pig on the commercial. I keep say, "Wee, wee" everytime I get dizzy. We have the Survivor's Dinner tonight sponsored by Buckheads and Kingfish. It is all free to survivors and that is all that is invited. I always love going, but not just not up to it so enthusiasam is down. Ellen, Maybe you should talk to Mercee, sounds like she had worked it out. I would think your numjbers would go down after exercising. I bet that pool water would wake you up today. Brrr... Toni, It is a shame you can't find the ingrediants. Let Ellen get them and you just pay her. quicker and cheaper. Enjoy your day. Mercee, the wedding sounds wonderful. The one we are going to next weekend is like that. We have known them since we were married. WTG on your dr. Sounds like you are blowing her away. Crystle, You should spend more time on here then FB. Just kidding. Hope you are having a great day and walking. Since we started walking, my ankle is killing me. I am to limp so I put the boot back on to help keep the wt off it. I hope that is all it is from. But of course the breast cancer walk is this weekend. I will only do the 1 mile this year or just the survivor parade, whichever I can. My niece wanted to push me in a wheelchair. I declined. Have a great day. |
Good morning ladies.... Wonderful fall day here. Taco soup was good last night and there's leftovers for tonight. So I've got a night off from cooking. Don't know what the day has in store for me. Probably just some house work.
Ellen- I'm going to get my Indian spices from you from now on. You're right about the postage and stuff. I hate you're having such a hard time and are trying so hard. I wish you could find a doctor you trust. Around here there isn't much choice in doctors. But I am lucky to have a really good heart doc. Solly-I hope you get over the dizziness today. Have fun tonight at the dinner. Doing the parade would be good. Mercee- Hooray for your good numbers. I'll bet your doctor was so pleased. You've done a good job. Off to finish my coffee. Then need to get busy. |
Good afternoon
Howdy ya'll. Just got in from my walk a little while ago. I was debating on taking the day off because of a pulled something another but it worked out that walking/running didn't bother it. I haven't eaten yet so I'm starting to get hungry. I'm thinking of having some of my homemade wheat bread. I had some last night and it gave me indigestion so I am not too sure. :dizzy:
Solly..You are so amazing. I pray that you feel tons better by tonight and the dizziness is not a problem so you can enjoy your event. Hope your ankle feels better soon. Ellen...WTG getting out there and walking. Don't let your numbers get you down. If you are having more good days than bad days you are getting there. Your body is probably just adjusting to all the changes. Praying you can find a doctor you can trust. I know it can be hard. I have to be honest I am NOT a doctor person. My mama says I don't believe in them but I am not that bad...LOL Mercee...That is so cool to see a couple you have known since they were little get married. The joy of young love is precious. Toni...I am so bad. I lost the taco soup recipe. Could you send it to me again. I've haven't had a chance to try it yet. This cooler weather has me craving soup. I'm making gumbo tonight. I don't know if I'll eat any or not but I know my guys will like it. I need to get something to eat before it gets too late and I change my mind. ((Everybody)) God bless, Crystle |
As Country mentioned, I got my walk in! I have decided to alternate days. I am thinking the four days a week, intense water workout is too much and I need to ease into it. I can do it, but it is stressing my system, which is why my blood sugar is going up instead of down. I did a lot of research on that this morning. It explains what is going on perfectly, and I am overly sensitive to stress, and it raises my blood sugar levels more than anything else. The last good doctor I saw, the one who unfortunately was molesting his women patients, did stress starting out slowly with exercise and building up to heal the insulin resistance. Its frustrating to me that I was at such a good place a few years ago...A1C of 6.1...almost as good as Mercee's 5.9, which is awesome!....and the doctor I was going to decided to reduce my thyroid meds, a LOT. It totally messed me up and its been an uphill climb ever since. I feel like the mix of drugs I am on is not working for me, but the doctor I am going to does not seem to know even as much as I do about diabetes. I just don't know where to go anymore. I found a good doctor who is highly recommended, but she is not taking new patients right now. Seems to be the story of my life. If I went back to the diabetes doc, he would probably mess with my thyroid levels again. And the one who molested his patients is in jail. I feel like I have to solve this on my own. Ok, I will stop whining. I am doing positive things...like water workouts and walking every day. I am eating carefully, but I need to tweak it some. It will just take time.
Today is the memorial service for my neighbor. They asked me to 'man' the guest book for them. I will have to get there early. Its at our old church and they have built a fancy new chapel. I better get their really early so I can find how to get in it! (its a VERY big church...we call it Six Flags Over Jesus sometimes...) SOLLY: I am sorry..but I laughed when I read that your niece wanted to push you in a wheel chair for the walk. Put your ankle thing on and people will think you just hurt your leg, but are dedicated enough to be there one way or the other! :) I hope the dizziness starts to clear up soon. And Mercee is right...take it easy! You just had surgery! We are not getting any younger, and it just takes a bit more time to recover. Give yourself some time! TONI: Yay! Send me the list of what you need already! haha! I can get the small flat rate USPS priority mail box and send it...doesn't matter how much you cram into it, it is the same cost. I think its around $5 for the smallest one. I can send you some curry leaves too...and my recipe for sambar and some of my homemade sambar powder! MERCEE: OH, WOW! Congrats on great numbers! My A1C has been up to around 8 lately and I would love to see it come back down. I did have it down from 14.8 to 6.1. I wish I could have kept it there. I really hate this disease. I hate that there is no cure. I hate having to worry about it all the time. If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we find a cure for insulin resistance? COUNTRY: I am so proud of you, getting out and walking and running! I made a chili last night and it was SO much better today! I used grass fed beef, and lots of beans. It was soupier than I usually make it, and it was really good! Payday is Friday and I am going to make another batch...only this time, larger! :) |
Reheating soup for dinner. Got the bed sheets changed and some cleaning done. Had bell pepper slices with hummus for a snack. Looking forward to Biggest Loser tonight.
Ellen- I was looking in my Indian cookbook today I think I need a better one. These are all slow cooker recipes and I can't seem to settle on one. I just want to make that chicken recipe, it looks so good. The one you gave me. Hopefully this week I'll be able to make it. And then I'll give you a list. Waiting for a spice I'd already ordered. I can't believe I can't find nothing here to use. Prayers for you all today as you went to the memorial service. You''re a good friend. I hope you've hit on to what is right for your numbers. Stress is sure an evil thing. Crystle- I pm you the recipe. There's probably good ones out there. But we like this one. You can add beans to it if you want. Wish I had a slice of your good bread for dinner. Better go stir the pot. LOL |
The memorial service was very nice. I saw some folks I have not seen in ages...and honestly....some I would be happy not to see for another couple ages! :O
They had a little reception, and I wickedly told Tom to eat up that was his supper! I ate cheese and a few grapes. I left all the carby stuff alone. When we got home I had a bit of Greek yogurt...fat free and plain...and a teaspoon of agave syrup in it. (I don't recommend Agave anymore...but I still have some, so I used just a bit) I am hungry right now, but tough nouggies. I am going to bed without eating anything. I am VERY determined to see improvement with my stupid blood sugar levels! Good night! |
Good morning ladies. Hope everyone is great today. it is very cool here but going to 75. Still dizzy but i have decided that it could take weeks, months, a year who knows. Some stroke victims take forever to heal totally. I guess know one knows b/c everyone is different. I need to quit whinning and go on. It will be what it will be.
Elen, so glad you went to the service for your friend, it gives you some closure. Tweaking your exercise may be a good thing. You should never jump into exercise all at once or you will get burnt out or very sore fast. Tony, your Taco soup sounds good. I have only had that once and it was good. The dinner was nice but I guess I was not in to it as usual. Crystle, great job on your walking. You are getting better everyday. Mercee, don't work hard today. Enjoy yourself. |
