Happy Day after Thanksgiving
Howdy ya'll. Just a quick note to say hi. Had a great day yesterday with the grand babies. New pictures are up at my facebook. :) Eating wasn't as good as I had hoped but it wasn't horrible. My main course was banana pudding. I was able to pass on all the other goodies. Last night I had a half a turkey sandwich. So I stayed pretty much in my calorie range yesterday.
Hope ya'll are having a good day today. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Going to make hot turkey sandwichs for dinner. Its cold here and that sounds so good.
Crystle-Glad you had such a nice Thanksgiving. Great on doing so well with your eating. Ellen- Your dinner sounds great. And thats so good you had a nice day with your Grandkids too.. Hope everyone else is having a nice week end. Any body shopping????? |
Toni, my daughter went to Walmart at midnight last night, then to about six other stores starting at 3am! I think she finished her shopping and she got me most of my gifts too! I like this tradition! She started it three years ago and it has saved me a lot of time. She got some fantastic deals!
We had lunch at the Mediterranean place with a couple we are friends with. It was SO yummy! I ate a bit of bean salad and a small slice of my crustless pumpkin pie thing for dinner. I still feel full! bleh! |
Now Ellen you are one lucky woman. What a sweet daughter you have. Your eating was great.
|
Happy Monday! Now we enter the starting stretch of the run to the Holidays. I do NOT feel ready! I have this open house Sunday afternoon and I have SO much to do! I need to finish framing some paintings, then I need to fire the kiln, glaze and fire again...I may have TWO kiln loads of glaze stuff to do. (when you fire work the first time, it can touch, so you can stack bowls, etc. When you glaze, it can NOT touch, so it takes more room)
I am sure I am NOT thinking of details I should be...like price tags, and displays. I am anxious about it...I really want to sell some stuff! :) Especially since I need clay. I am almost out. Time to go get ready for water aerobics! Will be back later and try to do individual messages...love you all, and thanks so much for your friendship and encouragement! :grouphug: |
Happy Monday. Hope everyone had a great Thanksiving. I ate just a spoonfull of all the bad stuff and was not stuffed. Had dessert but did not worry about it. The baby was at my house part of each day for 4 days so that was wonderful. We went shopping about 1;30 Friday morning. It was nice that no one was in the malls. Got some bargains and I am done unless there is something in particular someone wants. Not going to walk around looking for something to spend money on, I will just give them the money. Everyone has something to open
Didn't realize it, but Wed my leg started tightening up. Thursday it was really tight and it hit me that is was what happened in July when that Bake's cycst burst in my leg. So I have been icing and elevating it for the last 3 days. Everywhere I went (even shopping) I went in a wheelchair. It wasn't great but at least I was with my girls and it is a tradition. My pain dr thinks the fracure in my foot may be causing my problems with that so he is setting me up with an ortho guy to look at the cyst and the fracutre. I have it propped up on boxes and ice bag right now. Seems like I am falling apart. Every day it is something else. I am so depressed about it. I know my DH must hate it. Seems liek they are doing everything. I know y weight is a big factor too. I have to get this off and just don't know what to do. Ellen, I am sure you enjoyed your grandkids for the holiday. It is one day so don't worry about being full. Back on track....... Try to organize yourself (make a list) for Sunday. I sure hope you sell a lot of stuff. Toni, we got snow on Friday morning. Everyone selpt for 2 hours but me. I sat in the kitchen and watched it snow. I couldn't believe it. Glad it melted quickly but it was cold. I miss having leftover turkey to eat. Crystle, sounds like you did great with your eating. Good for you.I know you had fun with those babies. Mercee, hope you had a great weekend. Off to do something I can do sitting. I meet with the back surgeon in the morning. I am so done with all this injury crap. Have a great day. |
Mornig Ladies:
I'm glad everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving> We have so much to be thankful for. Inspite f all things we have gone through we are still here. I'm grateful for thant. I enjoyed my meal on Thanksgiving and am back to my regular eating. One of my best friends had here wedding Friday night it was beautiful Friday morning I helped here decorated the hall. We had to iron the linen table clothes and chair covers. Th room was beautiful. Her husband died 2 years ago and she is sohappy. She married a great guy. Glad you ladies enjoyed your families over the holiday. I did too. Glad everyone is back and on track. Have a great day ladies!! |
Solly- I hope you are feling better today.
Ellen- Enjoy your water aerobics class. Hi. Toni and Crystle. |
Just made a pan of turkey enchilada's for dinner. Not much turkey left from the breast I cooked. Its been rainy and dreary out today so I've not done much. It feels like a day to kick back. Right now I'm having a nice cup of hot tea.
Ellen- Hope your work out went good. Sounds like you have a ton of stuff to do. Bet your stuff at the open house is wonderful. Solly- So sorry about your leg and foot. Using the wheel chair was such a smart idea. You're so lucky to have girls to shop with. Wow you got snow. We just got some freezeing rain Thanksgiving afternoon. Mercee- The wedding sounds nice. Glad you had a good meal Thanksgiving. Crystle- What are you doing? Have your got your decorations up? |
Howdy
Good afternoon. Despite having to take three days off to rest my messed up back I was able to lose two pounds over the holidays.
Solly... Hang in there. Once everything heals you'll be feeling tons better. We didn't get any snow but had one really cold day. The weather is so goofy here. It is 74 right now but will only be 57 tomorrow. Toni...How was your weekend? We had a nice time picking out the tree. My youngest was in charge of cutting and dragging it for the first time. He did a great job. Mercee...I agree. We are blessed beyond measure even on our worst days. Ellen...praying you have great sales. It is so exciting. Gotta get some cleaning done..err :) Love and hugs, Crystle |
I had a friend call yesterday afternoon and ask if she could spend the night here. She was back in town for a doctor's appt. and did not want to drive the three hours home to Alabama in the rain. She took us out to dinner at a Thai place, which was fun. I got an order of basil rolls and a bowl of coconut soup. Not heavy on the veggies, but light and tasty. She and Tom got entrees. My blood sugar was not good this morning, which irritates me with having worked out an hour at water aerobics and eaten carefully all day.
I fired the kiln last night. It will probably be noon before its cool enough to open and unload. I need to get an oil change this morning...I hope I can find the coupon Tom gave me last week!....then run to the pottery supply place and get a few things I need to glaze stuff. COUNTRY: Another two pounds?! Fantastic! You are just burning them off! TONI: Turkey enchiladas sound wonderful! What a great way to use the leftovers! How is your cold? Better? MERCEE: You are so right...we have so much to be thankful for! I picked a couple cards off the Angel Tree at church and it made me cry reading them...folks evicted and asking for Christmas presents for their kids of shoes, underwear and socks....broke my heart. SOLLY: I know you feel like you are falling apart, but once you get through all this, you ought to be good for another 100k miles. A Bionic woman...you already are Super Woman! You do amazingly well with the things you are having to deal with. ((hugs)) Praying for good reports for you.... |
Morning Ladies:
Country- Congrats on your 2 pound loss. Go Girl!!! Ellen- The coconut soup probably did you in with your glucose. I hope your numbers return to normal soon. It is so amazing how food affects us so differently. My sister can't eat cantaloupe it sends her glucose soaring and it doesn't effect me at all. No matter how long you've had diabetes you still learn how food affects you only after you have eaten it. Stay encouraged things will turn around soon. Solly- You are so amazing no matter what you go through you just keep on going. Youa re truly a tropper. Hope you feel better today. Toni-I've never had turkey enchiladas. How were they? Have a great day everyone. |
Mercee, glad you had a great weekend. I am glad yoru friend has found happiness. I don't think anyone should be alone.
Crystle, how fun getting the tree. My DD & SIL cut a real tree every year. WTG on losing wt on the holidays. You rock  Hope your back is all healed. Toni, It is raining here today and it is so gloomy and dark. Good day to kick back. Your enchilladas sound good. Having burritos or tacos tonight. Ellen, I know what you mean. We took and sister and brother from my DD's school. THey are very poor there. We do have so much. I love buying things for those who don't have anything. Just got in from the back surgeon. They had lost my films, Grrrr. Now theyhave to get them from the MRI place. He is not sure what needs to be doe to my back, just cleaning it out or screws and rods. I had a flex xray to show more so we will see when he gets my scans and sees the xrays. I am shooting for Dec 27th. Leg is still bothering me. Wish I would hear from the ortho doc to see when my appt is. Hace a great day. |
Woke up late and then had a hair appointment for a perm. I feel so much better with my curley hair back. Steve worked on my computer a bit this afternoon.
Solly- It was 32 and really cold and windy here today. We even saw a few snow flurries. Hope your taco's or burritos were good. Yum. Did you watch the Biggest Loser. |
Opps the site messed up and posted before I was done.
Ellen-Hope you're not to busy. Dang the blood sugar when you're working so hard.. Mercee and Crystle- Howdy. |
Its one thirty here. I just do not feel like going to bed! :) I glazed then loaded up the kiln and it just fired off, so I can go to bed with peace of mind. I do worry about it if I try to go to bed before it is off. It has an automatic turn off...it goes off when it reaches the proper temperature. Cool little gadget that is now obsolete with the computerized kilns. That will be my next big purchase...a new computerized kiln! Well, unless my wheel dies. :) And it might..its very old.
I spent too much time getting the oil changed. It took them three hours instead of the one and a quarter they said. I went for a walk around the big block while I waited. It took me about 30 minutes, and I estimate it was over a mile. I was not walking fast...and I got back to the place and into the waiting room inside just as a torrential downpour started. It rained and rained...we had a few tornadoes here too. Scary stuff! I can't wait to open the kiln! Its like Christmas. If the stuff is all good, I may not rush to fire a second load. I am thinking the open house may not be well attended, and I hate knocking myself out for nothing. :( Sweet dreams! I am going to try and get some sleep now! MERCEE: It might have been the basil rolls as the wrappers are made from rice flour. I did not think of that! It is weird how different folks have different foods that they have to be careful with. Wheat and rice are not good for me. I avoid them as much as possible. Brown rice and whole wheat don't seem to help much at all! I will have to experiment with the coconut. It is high fat, but there is no sugar in it. I usually buy the light coconut milk when I use it... I have heard and read that fats contribute to insulin resistance. Have you noticed problems with fats? |
Good morning
Down a total of three pounds this week. First time that's happened in a looooong time.
Ellen...Hope everything came out wonderful. Also I hope you have a GREAT turn out and sell several items. Toni...you'll have to share a picture of your new hair. It is funny how our hair makes us feel. I can hardly wait for mine to grow back out. Longer doesn't necessarily look better on me if you ask my family but I like it. :) Solly...hope you get some positive feedback once they get the results in. Mercee...I forget, do you live where it is very cold? Hope ya'll have a super day. God bless, Crystle |
Oh darn I forgot to weigh in. Will have to tomorrow. Having beans and cornbread for dinner on this cold day. Now I have to figure whats for breakfast.
Ellen- Are you sleeping in after your late night. Hope everything turns out in the kiln. Crystle- Oh my gosh 3 lbs. is wonderful. You are in the groove..:bravo: Morning Solly and Mercee..... |
Afternoon ladies. Waiting on a guy to finish the bid so I can type it. I went to the ortho this morning. Why can't I catch a break? They tried to drain te Baker's cyst and it was gelled or thick and it would not drain. They gave me a cotisone shot so I hope it helps. She thinks it may be a knee problem like a torn miniscus (sp) and she did not see the fracture in my foot so next Tuesday at 6:00 am I am to have a MRI on my foot and leg. I'm ready to just shoot myself.
I weighed today, I was the same. I will take it. Ellen, I hope the kiln turned out great and surely you will sell a lot of stuff Sunday. Toni, Yum cornbread. My favorite. It snowed here all morning. Just big flakes. I don't think I finished the BL last night. I hd to go to bed. Should finish it tonight. Crystle, you are the only one that has to like your hair. But I guess we tend to please our loved ones too.You are doing fabulous. Congrats on the 3 lbs. :cheer: Mercee, Got to run, have a great day. |
Where is everybody? I got a new coat and new shoes from Lands end and neither fit right. So will have to return them today through the mail. I'm ordering a different coat and can't get the shoes small enough. And they're so cute. But I need a 5 1/2 and they're a 6. To bad they run big. Well guess my day will be spent in town. Post office, grocery store.
Solly- I can't believe you're going through this. You're a strong brave woman and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Did you finish BL last night? I couldn't believe who got voted off. Its getting to the end. Same with Survivor. I'm miss them when they're gone. Keeping an eye on ****'s kitchen too. Well ladies guess you're all busy. |
Where is everyone.
An uneventful day here. Sort of good for me. Not working tomorrow so that is even better. I lost my diamond stud (one of them) so hoping we can get it replaced tomorrow for my Christmas. Have to take the car for an oil change, fun things like that. Saturday we are taking the baby to the Elks Club for a gift from Santa. DH is so excited. he loves to show him off. We will see how the whole Santa thing goes. Toni, I didn't finish the BL last night. I guess I am going be be surprised. I hope it was Brandon. I don't like him. I want Patrick or Mark to win. Never watch Survivor since season 2. Don't know why. I think I just heard someone say it was snowing hard out there right now. Not ready for all of this. You have such a small foot. i wear and 8 1/2 or 9. Mercee, Cyrstle, Ellen, Ellen, Hope your craft sale goes well for you on Sunday. Have a great weeend. I will try to get on but it may be a busy weekend. |
This is the first time all day I have been able to sit down at the computer. I did a bunch of stuff today...glazed and loaded another kiln load of stuff and fired it. The last load turned out ok. No horrible disasters at least! I spent some time putting prices on pieces, wrapping them in bubble wrap and stuffing them in a box. I probably should have done an inventory but I felt too lazy. I ran up to Whole Foods this afternoon. I went for just a few items and about fainted when they rang it up. It came to $65!!! I don't like shopping there unless I need something I can't get elsewhere. That was the case today, and I picked up a few items there to save time. Argh. We had a meeting tonight and got in a few minutes ago. I will probably try and go to bed early tonight so I can get up and unload the kiln in the morning.
My back has been bothering me all day. I guess from all the work I have been doing. Bending over the wheel stresses the back muscles. Then lifting the kiln shelves, etc. etc. Ouch! SOLLY: Oh, not another thing! Praying for you! I am praying you get some respite from all these 'things' you keep having to deal with. TONI: I am sorry the stuff did not fit right. I hate having to send stuff back. I got a pair of black dress boots in the mail today, and I am so glad they fit ok! COUNTRY: Wow! Three pounds is fabulous! I forgot to weigh... MERCEE: Hope you are doing well. How is your weather? Did you get a lot of snow in those recent storms? |
Howdy
Had a long day and just sat down at the computer.
Love you guys! ((hugzz)) Love and hugs, Crystle |
 I just ran down to the garage to get a gallon of milk out of the spare fridge to make cheese spread for Sunday with. The kiln was cool enough to open and the top shelf looks good! One piece in particular, really is sweet! Its a small cup like bowl with a flower and leaf trim. The glaze is burgundy, and it breaks beautifully over texture. Each little flower is accentuated perfectly! It will make a lovely Christmas candy dish! :) I am looking forward to seeing the bottom shelf!
Still haven't weighed. Shame on me. I need to get out and walk today. My morning blood sugar has been better the last two mornings, but today was not as good as yesterday and the day before and I am certain it is because I did not get a long enough walk yesterday. Ok, off to explore that bottom shelf! :) |
An almost perfect load! Yay! I am so excited!
|
Howdy
Just finished working out so I thought I'd pop in and say howdy. My tummy is telling me to hurry since it is past lunch time. :dizzy: Been under some major stress the last couple of days. Trying really hard not to fall into emotional eating. My mom is having a heart procedure next week so please remember her in your prayers. She has been through SO much. We are really hoping this is going to make her feel better.
Ellen...WOO HOO on your items coming out well. The bowl sounds so pretty. Are you going to share a picture of it? Solly...I hope you find your diamond and if not I hope you can get a new one. Toni..Thank you. How are you doing? I can't believe how tiny your feet are. That is so neat. Does that mean you are on the short side? Solly and I could share shoes..LOL Mercee...Thank you. Love and hugs, Crystle |
Oh my gosh I forgot to post on here today. Thats what a crazy day its been. Steve went to bed early so I'm sitting here with dogs watching tv. Did laundry and put up some Christmas decorations today. Will try and finish tomorrow. Steve put up our little Charlie brown tree and its so cute sparkling with lights.
Crystle- Prayers for your Mom. I'll be thinking of her. Yes I'm short 5' 4" and my feet and hands are the only small part of me. Ellen- I'm so happy the load in the kiln turned out wonderful. You've been so busy its a wonder you've got in a walk at all. Solly- Hope you get the diamond replaced. I would love a pair of diamond studs. You have a good week end. And get some rest. Yes you will be surprised on BL. LOL |
I went to set up for the open house tomorrow tonight. What a mess! The lady hosting was not ready...a neighbor had a medical emergency and she had gone to help. ( she is a nurse) We ended up getting everything done, but it took a long time. Then, when we were leaving my daughter's car would not start. We had to jump it off, but we had a hard time finding jumper cables. Then, it seemed to develop a very bad gas leak. They asked us to follow them home. We ended up only going a few blocks before my son in law decided it was not driveable, and he parked it. We drove them home. (45 minutes away from our house...and we were 20 from home at the open house location) What a mess!
Anyway, the tables looked good and hopefully some folks will come by tomorrow. :crossed: Do you all think it is time to start a new thread? This one is getting really really long.... |
What a bad night you had. Would love to see a picture of your booth set up. We need a new thread bad, but then it might be better on the first to start a new thread with the new year. You pick....
|
Good afternoon
You are a mind reader Ellen. I was hoping we could get a new thread.
Sorry you had such a yucky night last night. Hope today is going much better. Toni..that's not too short. :) My mom is about 5' 2" and I have a niece that doesn't reach five foot..LOL Thanks for your prayers. (((Everybody)))) Love and hugs, Crystle |
Good morning ladies. Started not to post until alter as I wanted to see how Ellen did at her craft show.
Didn't get the earring. I will have to get a new set as tey cannot match the one. I dont think I want to spend the money as you can't see them anywat with my hair. Maybe I will wait and see what kind of Christmas bonus I get if any. It was a nice da anyway. Got my DD a bike for her birthday. I can't beleive my baby is 28 today. Where does time go? We are all going out for Italian tonight. Yesterday afternoon the girls and I did some shopping. Other than stocking stuffers, I am almost done. Or should say done all I am doing. Having the MRI on my leg tomorrow morning at 6:00 am. So we shall see what that shows. Need to find out about surgery today I guess. Ellen, glad your kiln turned out so well. I can't wait to hear how you did. Crystle, you are doing so well. Definately keeping yourmomma in my prayers. Hope eerything turns out ok. Toni, We got snow Saturday but it stayed off the streets and sidewalks. I can handle that kind of snow. It is snowing here now but it is not supposed to stick, but it is sure cold. I loved BL when Brandon got kicked off. I hated to see Mark go home. Did someone beg to be picked for the final 2. I must have turned it off before that. Got to run. My favorite (ha-ha) PM left me tons of stuff to do. Have a great day. |
