Hello! I'm a bride-to-be looking to trim down my belly and tone up my arms in time for the big day! I really enjoy working out, and am on a schedule of weights 3x/week, cardio 3x/week, and I eat relatively healthy ... my downfall is sweets and alcohol I am trying to find a way to lose these last few pesky pounds without being hungry and miserable!

Hi everyone! I'm 24 years old, and looking to lose 25 lbs by July 4. I have never done online forums or chatting like this before, but I'm pretty exasperated with my weight loss difficulties, need a place to vent and find tips and support, and loved reading the success stories on this site. I also got pretty excited when I saw a July 4 challenge thread that looks perfect for me. I wasn't sure where to post "my story", so I'll be putting that in "introductions", but just wanted to say hello.

Lisa130 - I just joined and I have a very similar goal to yours. I want to lose 21 lbs by July 1st (that's my roommate's birthday and she is setting a 25 lbs by her 25th birthday goal - I just turned 30 and am in a string of life-overhauling goals, and am excited about this one!)
So...I might tag along with you for motivation... =)
I eventually do want to get down to 120 - probably, though I'll reevaluate as I get closer to it. I haven't been in a toned, strong, slimmed-down state since I achieved my adult height in college. The last time I was in super shape was when I was 15, and I weighed 110 lbs then at 5'1". I imagine I'll need to be at least 10 lbs heavier than that for my healthy weight now, and maybe it'll be more like 15. We'll see!

Thanks - will do =)
No weight loss today to report, but I am tracking the calories (1483 today and I feel completely satisfied) and I'm off to play with a neighbor's dog until I fall over and go to bed. lol I have to trick myself into exercising.
With this calorie tracking, I'm beginning to think that my body is like an efficiency vehicle...I get a lot of mileage for not that much fuel. Why is this a good thing in a car but not such a desirable thing in a body? Why are the fast metabolisms preferable? Grrrrr.

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie and need to loose 30lbs. I've never joined an online forum before so this is new. I'm watching my calories and exercising (walking x2 per day). My question is when counting calories is fat & carb calories already in the total calories on a nutrition label or do I need to add those in? Any dieticians out there to help with this question?

When counting calories, carbs and fat are not included in there, per se, all carbs and fats have calories... A calorie is the energy count of the food you're eating, read about carbohydrates here... There are simple carbs, found in sweets ie: candy, and complex carbs mainly found in plants, grains and fruits. Fats are just that, FAT!! But not all fats are bad, we need a certain amount of good fats found in olive oil and some fishes in our diets...
I would highly recommend signing up at fitday.com, it's free !
