I didnt run yesterday, and I dont think I am going to run today. For no particular reason. Odd.

I'm hopping on this bandwagon. Did 3.5 today. Not sure where I'm at total, but I've been recording it at the gym, so I'll tally up my miles then! what a great goal!

OK, so I think I figured out the "particular reason". Not sure what to do about it yet.

TMI a bit, I still have hormonal cycles, but since I dont get AF I never know where I am. Apparently my sudden onset of not wanting to run (or do anything except sit on the couch and eat) is PMS. I cant believe it took me this long to figure out. I've been struggling with "random periodic binging and laziness" which I thought was LEADING to mild depression. I now think it is the opposite.

Also explains why traditionally the week before I am roaring and on top of the world.

Anyway after sudden inspiration I went back and looked at my running log and (if we call this week 4) it is dramatic and consistent. Average for the last 6 months:

Weeks 2 & 3 are both high mileage, week 4 is <50% of week 3 and week 1 is about 75%. I think the week 1 has been because I beat myself up about the week 4.

Anyway 44 for the week (which I know is high for many, but not for me when on Tuesday I was ready to BRING IT) At least 14 of those miles were after I decided I needed to get over the PMS and go out for SOMETHING even if it wasnt as much as planned.

105/200 for Feb
313.9/2400 for 2010

That's a great observation, ennay. Do you plan to kind of go along and not run when those days hit or are you going to try to run anyway? I ask cause I have those days, although I haven't noticed any hormonal cause....more like lack of sleep cause, and sometimes I think I should just do it even if I am not feeling it.....

Well the sleep goes to **** that week also.

I dunno midwife. Because the lack of urge accompanies some pretty hefty depression so while I can tell myself NOW that I will suck it up, that is easier said than done.

I'm hoping that now I know the reason I can either let it go the 2-3 days that it hits hard and get right back at it (although my runs are sluggish for a few days) instead of wallowing in my own suckiness for 10 days.

Optimally maybe if I can see it coming and the urge to wallow hits if I can just go out for 30 minutes instead of feeling dragged down by "having" to go 10 miles or whatever is on the schedule.

I've been laid up for the last few days with a sore back. I haven't walked since Thursday morning and probably will be Tuesday or Wednesday before I'm up and about again...sigh...

Last week was pretty low for me mileage wise...

+2.5 Tuesday 2/9, elliptical HIIT
+12 Saturday 2/13, stationary bike

Hope everyone is feeling better this week! I'm feeling pretty achy myself this week, TOM cranky.

I'm on the road again -
Couldn't wait to get on the road again.
The life I love is walking with my friends.

I jumped out of bed and got on the road again.
And walked 6 klics again.

Goin' places that I've never been.
Seein' things that I may never see again.....

(Apologies to Willie Nelson)
