Carol Sue When I was in the hospital this last time they gave me prescription potassium because I was on Lasix. I always thought that DH#2 died because our good doctor left and moved to Dallas and the new doctor who replaced him cut out all of DH#2 meds because he wanted to see him and change things his way even though our pharmacist called him and told him that it took a long time to get this routine of meds right. He told the doctor if he cut out some of the medicine that DH would die. DH#2 had to go see that doctor and he put him on high dose of Lasix and never put him back on prescription potassium like our previous doc would have done. I still think his insnistance of doing things his way leaving out the potassium is the reason DH#2 died. My daughter was working at the VA hospital at that time and she said you can die from to much potassium as well as to little. That is why the previous doc was always keeping an eye on it. We even had time we had to go to the hospital one time for them to give him something to lower the potassium. I take a potassium pill but never more than recommended. I just try to be sure I eat foods that I can get more potassium than sodium.

I went on Amazon to see if there was a book titled DASH Diet for Dummies and low and behold there is. So I ordered one. I will get it Tuesday. I w ill spend the time between now and Tuesday re-reading Low Carb for Dummies and then read DASH Diet for Dummies so I can decide which one is the best plan for me. DASH can be done as a low carb plan so I look forward to how they say do it. DASH is the diet Baby Sister's doctor in MS put her on to lower her BP. She not only has kept her BP down but she lost weight and weighs about 100 lbs. I don't want high bp or CHF.

DH has boneless pork chops out for our dinner today. I will add my salad and a veggie to mine. I had a banana and a protein shake for breakfast. I probably will stop eating the banana because they turn too fast no matter how green they are when I buy them. I eat them for the potassium. I can get that from the avocado and a potato. I was able to get 2 avocados this last week for less than a dollar each instead of $1.77 each. I bought 1 starting to ripe and one hard. That way I can eat 1/4 to half an avocado a day and they don't go bad before I eat them.

Have a good day everyone.

Trish, my sister-in-law was treated for too high potassium. I don't know if she was on Lasix or what caused her high potassium. My PCP checks my potassium and other electrolytes twice a year and they are always normal. When I had my bowel surgery and fasted for 5 days my potassium went too low and they gave me an IV. This tells me that people who do extended fasting do not know the effect its having on their body without a doctor's supervision.

I got some Dash Diet books free on Amazon for my Kindle but haven't had a chance to read them. I think there is a "For Dummies" book for everything. I see many of them at Goodwill. I think we also have a Diabetes for Dummies.

DH and I used to share a banana each day. I bought small ones but never more than 5 at a time. I stopped eating them and DH doesn't eat them fast enough.

The pie turned out good. I took a nap and DH took the meatloaf out of the oven but he didn't take it out of the pan. I always take it out of the pan to rest. He was watching the football game and he probably didn't want to take the time. It tastes ok. I want to eat later when I have to take the antibiotic. I put more celery and carrots in it and its a little crunchy but that's ok.

Carol Sue I have the book Diabetes for Dummies too some where around here. I never did much with it because I was into Atkins back then. I think the DASH Diet and Low Carb for Dummies are going to be similar.

I quit making meatloaf because DH doesn't like the veggies in it that I like. He will eat those veggies separately but not cooked with other foods.

Today has been a good day. Even Dallas won their game. Ii hope we will have a good nights sleep. Good night.

I was shocked to see 165.8 on the scale this morning. Down 9 lbs since I went to the hospital. I'm glad that something good is coming from this terrible situation. I woke up at 2 am with cramps in both feet and legs. It was not as bad as the night before but was both left and right. I rubbed some Epsom Salts lotion on them but I'm almost out. It is no longer available unless it has another name. I also put some salt on my tongue. Then fell back to sleep.

Trish, I don't measure for my meat loaf but something wasn't right. We didn't like it. I like a little bit of onion, carrot and celery finely chopped but I think I put too much in and also too much egg and breadcrumbs. Rusty will eat the leftovers.

Hi there, you are both doing better than I am.
I have printed off the exercises and instructions to get ready for knee surgery, so am looking forward to my consult visit coming up at the end of the month.
I am fasting so far today, and that is what I need to do. I am limited in how far I can walk these days, and using the cane. It's going down hill fast, for sure.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Fatmad I am so sorry your knee has gotten so bad so soon. I will be praying all will go well and you will heal well.

Carol Sue Congratulations on the 165.8 lbs. That is awesome.

DH deoded we had to go get our car inspected and renew our registration and he wanted me to go with him. Not something I wanted to do, but I went with him, but didn't want to go in the store because it is too much trouble to dress putting on wig etc, So he got a fewtgroceries while in the store to get car tags. We got McD's CB. We came home and ate and I fell asleep. However I did get my exercises for to day, but I'm not raising my time on the recumbant bike this week. When I ride the recumbant bike is jerky not smooth. I will add the next 5 minutes when I can do this 20 minutes bike smoothly.

I didn't feel well today and I napped a lot. My stomach seemed upset. DH got Chicken Mcnuggets but I only ate 1. I don't like them anymore or my appetite is just poor right now. Later on I microwaved a small potato and ate that.

One of our cars is due for inspection but we will have to fit that in with all the other things we have to do. We have until the end of November to get it done. DH always wants me to go with him, too. I like that the garage has free WIFI in the waiting room so I take my tablet and get online. They used to have free coffee and donuts but they stopped that during Covid.

I understand you not increasing your time on the recumbent bike until you are riding smoothly. Its most important that you are keeping it up on a regular basis.

Poor sleep last night. Tossing and turning. Heart rate elevated. It went back to normal around 2 am. I don't know why.

Scale is down .4. I cooked my own breakfast because DH is outside with his brother. He won't come inside because of the dog. He barks and growls at him but that's because he doesn't know him. If he came more often he would get to know him. Also, one time DBIL kicked the dog. That's no way to make friends. So he comes and they spend their time in the garage or driveway.

I slept pretty good although I had to get up 3 times to go potty. Got my exercises and then fell asleep. I've had potty issues all day. I have to go see primary doctor tomorrow so I hope everything will be better tomorrow.

Carol Sue I hope you feel better tomorrow and get a good nights rest.

I never made it back here yesterday. I was tired all day. We went to Bob Evans and I had a great dinner. Grilled chicken breast with broccoli and carrots.

This morning the scale is up 1.4 lb. That scares me because when my weight went up last week I was retaining fluid again and that made me so I couldn't breathe. I don't know why they call it CHF when its in your lungs. At least that's where I get the congestion. I'm not really peeing excessively even with the fluid pills. I don't see any swelling.

Trish, I'm sorry you are having potty issues. Maybe you can discuss that with your primary doctor. My friend who was having that issue told her doctor and he gave her two different prescriptions for anxiety meds. Neither of them worked, and even made it worse. So then he told her to use Imodium and she said it didn't help. It helps for me but I try not to take it often.

I had to eat at 7am so I can take the antibiotic. Two more days, and I don't know if it helped with anything. Today we are going to get our car inspected. DH will want to go to the casino but we don't have any money. Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment. I'm nervous about that but it has to be done.

I am starting to connect my high heart rate to my blood sugar. My blood sugar was great last night and so was my heart rate. I'll have to look that up.

Our car passed inspection. We,were there a long time. As I expected DH wanted to go to the casino afterward.

I have mac and cheese in the oven and broccoli, cauliflower and carrots to go with it. I don't want to eat a lot of the mac and cheese.

I did read that high blood sugar is,connected to irregular heartbeat. I must try very hard to keep it under control. I also read that Farixiga is prescribed for CHF as well as diabetes. I really don't want to get into that because of the cost, but it might save my life.

Carol Sue I'm sorry your scale was up today, but it probably be back down tomorrow. I pray your dental appointment goes well. I had no idea that Farxia was used for CHF.

I always forget about the Imodium. I thought it was caused either by medication I take or I might have eaten too much fruit.

We had a very good appointment with primary doctor. He okayed me going to a Lisinopril 10 mg and I can take 2 Lasix a day. He said the kidney issue has been resolved and oncology checks it once a month as well as other things that is checked the day I have infusion each month so we would know if anything shows I need to go back to the original doses. He had no problem with me taking tramadol, but he said it is better for oncologist to write it because the rules and regulations don't apply to a cancer patient. So I will have them call in the prescription next when I go for my infusion. I am not going to take the gabapatin. My hands and feet hurt all night long. Then I read that one of the side effects is swollen legs and feet. DH takes gabapatin so he will just add them to his so they won't be wasted/ My weight was 165 lbs.

Started reading the new DASH Diet for Dummies and I think I'll start it tomorrow. It says keep sodium at 1500 mg a day. I'm already doing some of it any way. And I think it is already helping my lab numbers. In fact, my lab numbers were really good. Even my triglicerides and bad cholesterol was within good range. Good cholesterol was under normal range but it always has been. Total cholester was normal. Glucose was up to 5.2 from 4.2. DH A1c was 7.1. He is going to put him back on tramadol. So doctor was really pleased with both of us. The main thing I didn't do was exercise which means I will only get 5 days this week.

Trish, I do hope and pray that you get your meds straightened out as to what is best for you and your needs. When I took Tramadol they were not allowed to call in the RX. They had to give me a written script to hand carry to the pharmacy. But it might have changed now, or there might be a difference between PA and TX. I hope you can get it filled soon.

I don't think my weight will be down tomorrow. I ate a lot today, a lot of carbs. I am very stressed out today. I am nervous about my dentist appointment and what they will tell me. I want everything to go well so they can move up my procedure. I don't know if I can last until the end of November. I think I really need to pray about this. Being stressed is not good.

DH seemed to be ok with not going to the casino today but I don't know if it will last long.

Carol Sue The Primary doctor emailed DH Tramadol prescriiption while we were him and it is already read. I think that is how they have done it here. I could call or email oncology that I need them to call in or email a prescription for Tramadol but I can wait until I go in next Thursday for infusion.

I will be praying with you that you get a good report tomorrow so you can get your procedure moved up. Gabapantin didn't help me one bit and I hurt all night last night. I hope we both can rest tonight.

Good night.
