Love the Wii Fit!

Hello, all. I am so glad that there are people who are using the Wii Fit for weight loss. I have been trying to get in shape for years and Wii fit is the first thing that held my interest. Congrats to all the success stories and I hope I'll be able to post my own happy stories on here. Blessings to all for the Holidays. Go Wii Fit!

After four years "obese," I am now officially "overweight!" Yay!!!!!!!!

My lovely Wii Fit tells me I now have a BMI of 29.90 and that means I've reached my year-end goal of saying good-bye to obesity in 2008.

Yippee!!!!!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is so exciting, I am so happy for you and I can't wait to join you.

I haven't been much lately because I fell of the wagon and I've been finding it hard to get back on. Today I exercised for about 30 min, but I haven't gotten back to the Wii yet. I am scared LOL. Tomorrow is my weigh in day, so I will be brave and face the Wii once again, hopefully it won't scream at me too much.

I got this from a friend a while ago, but I think this pretty much sums up how I feel:

Newshinyme 12-17-2008 03:16 PM

I just wanted to share: I got on mi Wii after 20 days of ignoring it and it didn't scream at me too much, maybe because I actually lost some weight in between visits hehe.
Today I did 30 min of cardio (step, hula and advanced boxing) and 30 min yoga (I actually did the whole section, yay!)
I keep forgetting how fun, how easy it is to get some exercise on this thing and how good I feel after I've worked out. I will try to remember from now on.
One thing I did notice is that I thought the Fit was not a really hard exercise anymore and that it wasn't doing too much for me, but when I started using exercise DVDs as well they seem pretty doable. After falling off the wagon for a couple of months I popped in a DVD yesterday and it seemed much tougher than I remembered, so I guess the Wii Fit had actually helped me get in better shape. I will not doubt my Wii Fit again!

I'm like that. If it's been more than a few days, I just don't want to get yelled at! But then I'm always so glad I'm back at it, once I AM! Soooo true.

Good reminder for me too. :D Gonna get on tomorrow, even though I did miss today. Yesterday was fun though. Thirty minutes with Jillian. Phew! What a sweat!

For me, it just got me STARTED, which was so important. Really easy to just let that sofa hold us to it when we're tired and ready for a BREAK in the day--NOT exercise! But Wii Fit helped me see my exercise *AS* a break! I can convince myself to do the balance exercises at least! And then I'm having fun and feeling better, so I do something harder... and harder... and then I'm back and that's really what's important.

When I wanna SWEAT, it's Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum. For sure!!

But yeah, Wii Fit has been so good to just get me GOING and that's what I needed.

Have a great weekend, everyone! :D

Hi Everyone!

Ok - My husband bought me the Active Life - Outdoor Adventure game for Xmas and this game made me sweat like crazy. It got my heart rate up! I have been on "holiday mode" for the past month but will get back on the wagon tomorrow. You sprint, jump rope and lots of other fun games. This game has been addicting! Also DDR2 will make you sweat alot as well. I heard the We Cheer game is supposed to make you sweat alot because you are mostly using both arms (you're using 2 wii-motes). I have that game too but haven't had a chance to try it yet. I will let you know how that goes. Now will my husband get off the Wii and his Madden 09 game I bought for him for Xmas! He loves that game!
PS: Good luck to everyone and congrats on your accomplishments! Merry Christmas!

Is this challenge thread still active?? I just got a Wii fit for Christmas and would love some accountability :D

FitSarah 12-28-2008 09:45 PM

I just got a Wii Fit for Christmas too...if this thread is still active, I'd like to join too. It's sooo cool! The entire family has their Mii characters on it...and it's a great virtual trainer...

HI Christian...and Welcome here! It is still active...although sometimes very quiet! We can get it really going again!

Welcome to all the wii fit newbies! Congrats on getting in on the fun!

I haven't done the wii fit for about a week or so. I just got the Jillian Michaels wii game. Tried it real quick. I liked it so far. I only did about 20 min. though. Now that my son has left, I can get back to it. He had the wii for a couple of games he got for Christmas. I had him do the wii fit and I was hysterical watching him do the Hoola Hoops! At one point it looked like he was just wagging his tail.

Maybe later today I will report back and see what I can do. What is everyone else doing?

smiles4u 12-29-2008 04:19 PM

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd pop in and explain my abscence. I was happlily doing my Wii Fit nearly everyday before Christmas until I got a message everytime I started it up. The message was "Please step off me and press A". The problem was I wasn't standing on it to begin with. I finally got through to Nintendo and I had to send my Balance Board in for repair! They said it should take 11-16 days before they return it so I'm having Wii Fit withdrawals!
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas....hopefully I'll be back on the Wii Fit early in the New Year...until then I look forward to hearing what everybody else has been up too.

Neast 12-29-2008 07:37 PM

Hi all, I am new here but I love love love my Wii Fit, yesterday I did 40 mins on it and so far today I have done 10, If I can get my daughter off of it I can do more!!!

ETA: I did a total of 1 hr on the Wii today!! I unlocked a new yoga pose

truffles 12-29-2008 08:10 PM

I'm looking forward to start the challenge tonight. I will report soon.

truffles 12-29-2008 10:58 PM

I did an hour tonight on the Wii. The goal is to do an hour every day, but share the Wii with my kids. My Mii person looks just like me! My 12yo son laughed and laughed. He couldn't believe it. I hope to post every day.

janal14 12-30-2008 12:35 AM

I got lucky and found a Wii Fit today at Wal-Mart. I started it today, and I love it. I'm not sure that I'll be able to commit to an hour a day every day once I get off vacation, since my work schedule is pretty erratic - especially when the our season starts and I'm doing 14-15 hour days 5 days a week...so I've made my short term goal to start today and do 1500 minutes by the end of January.

My weight loss has been pretty steady, so hopefully this will help me keep it going.

ContessaN 12-30-2008 01:30 AM

I got one for Christmas too! OMG, I love it! I will say, it's so addicting I have a hard time stopping. I keep telling myself...just ONE more game/routine. As a result I'm so sore I can barely walk....I've been this way for a week. The backs of my calves are screaming...but I...STILL....MUST...PLAY. lol.

Google EA Sports Active. It's a new workout program for the Wii coming out in May. I already have mine pre-ordered. It looks fantastic!

Oh....I did 1 hr on the Fit today. I have no clue how long I played on DDR and We Cheer but it was quite awhile.

Looks like I might have to quit work. How will I ever go back and leave my little Wii all alone? That would be sad.

Wow! I can't wait for your reviews of all of these games! What fun!!!! You probably never get bored, with that much variety to choose from! Yay!

Me too. :( It's why I haven't checked in much. Sooooo busy. But still losing weight, so the work I've done is obviously keeping my metabolism flowing, even when I'm not on the Wii Fit every day!

I love my Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum. It's awesome! I try to do at least a half-hour of that a day, when I can. It's such a good sweat, compared to the Wii Fit itself--but that's so much fun too!!!!! Good to have options! Mix it up a bit!

Oooooh noooooooo! You poor thing! We had a crack in our balance board and luckily we don't live too far from the Nintendo headquarters, so my husband was able to drive the board down and get it replaced right then. I was afraid that they were going to keep it and repair it, and we'd have to be without it for a while. Luckily, they just swapped it out! (But I guess with the week I've had with no workouts outside of going for great walks with the hubby after dinner, I wouldn't have missed it much this week anyway. LOL)

Hope it comes back soon! :)

Yay! That's awesome! I can't commit to posting every day, but I do try to pop in when I can and share a little encouragement and hopefully a good report about how I've been working out (obviously, that's not happening today, but I do generally do good work on my Wii Fit, and consistently). ;)

Ah... one step at a time!

Good for you!! That's an awesome and realistic goal. Congrats on getting your Wii Fit and thanks for joining us on the challenge! I think January is going to be a great month for us all! :D Yay! :carrot:

Ooooooh, thanks for the tip about EA Sports Active! That timing is great for when I'll probably be tired of listening to Jillian. ;) Heeeee! And Wii Cheer sounds so interesting (I know both you and another poster above talked about it. Have to check that out too)!

You will miss your Wii while you go to work, but you'll find a way to make it through, I promise. ;) Ha ha! I started using the Wii Fit as a reward for reaching certain goals in my work. "If I get this much done, I can do another hour on the Wii today." ;) It's a great motivator in that way!

Here's to a great 2009 for us all! Congrats and keep up the good work! My next post will include some actual Wii Fit workout time logged! It's just been a ridiculous week! I know, I know... stop the excuses and GET TO IT! Okay! Will do! :) Here we go... 180s here I come! Hard to believe I'm down 50 pounds from one year ago. I'm so happy!
