Good good evening chicks.....After playing phone chase I got hold of the cardiologist and clearance was sent. I'm now waiting for the nurse scheduler to call with who what and where for bloodwork, ekg, chest xray. Doc looked at the xray of both my knees and asked how I was able to walk! The right knee was worse than the one he did the orthoscopic on.

Really like this doctor. He looks like Ron Howard with hair. We had sent him a bottle of Crown Royal Maple (sipping whiskey) for Christmas. So yesterday I asked him if he was using the maple on his pancakes. He ummmmed. 20 minutes later he burst out laughing and admitted he just got the joke.

So Lynn....Not this trip but next time we will really met.

I have been battling a orange shipper for the mini honey bells that was supposedly shipped to my DD for Christmas. They loss two shipment, 8 emails about is shipped isn't shipped....Finally Wed they give me a FedEx# and I follow the trail. At 3pm today it was delivered to my DS.....in Penna not DD in NC. Another phone call and they are now shipping them Wed 1/22 UPS. You knew they think I am a crazy old lady....hmmm they're right.

Still on plan and have not eaten even 900 calories any day this month. Think I'll check the scale in the am. Can't play my jump on and off until it reads right now.

later k3

Hi everyone! Just got home this afternoon from the OR coast. We had a nice but brief time there. It was sunny!! and the ocean was just beautiful! We didn't do anything the first night except eat out. Went to a restaurant near the resort we'd heard good things about but were disappointed...overpriced and too saucy for our tastes...esp me. I'm a rather plain eater. I ordered a beef quesadilla and it was ok but not great. It was 4 large pcs, I ate two and took 2 back to the condo hoping it would taste better the next day. And actually it did but still not great. Yesterday we walked the beach, a dog came up to us and laid a ball near us obviously wanting us to play. So we started playing with the dog and the owner eventually got up to us and chatted with dh (another old military man, but not as old as dh). Then we went into town, visited a museum, had lunch and browsed the stores, stopping for some ice cream. I asked for a child's cone but it was still way too big. Last night we watched Taken 2 in the Condo. I knew dh would like it and he did even though he couldn't remember Taken 1. I liked it but I do get kinda bored with all the fighting and shooting. On the way home today we stopped at a monastary dh has been wanting to visit for years because he thought they made good fudge and fruit cake. Well, they did make the fudge (and darn it, he bought some!) but not the fruit cake. However they gave us directions to another one that does so he bought a small box of Tropical Fruit Cake in Rum. We haven't eaten of of these yet but they are in the back of my mind working forward...

I don't know yet if I gained any weight, I took my tape measure and my waist measurement went down the morning and back up the second so I guess it's like the scale, up and down. Will see what the scale says tomorrow.

Tonight I have started our taxes. I use Turbotax Online. Have already ran into a snag...no 1099 from Civil service. So tried to access the website to print it out....oh I HATE government sites...I can never get the log-ins right. The passwords have to be so long and very complicated! After several attempts I was afraid of being locked out so asked them to send the reset code. I hope they email it, sounded like they might? but last time they mailed it and it took quite a while. Government sites are the absolutely worst with passwords...some you have to change ever six months. I know its for security but it is very frustrating.

Bobbi - I got the shampoo and conditioner you told me about. Haven't tried it yet though. Enjoy that new puppy!! Chubby and very cute I suspect!

Karen3 - Glad you have a nice doctor who understands and that you are going to get your surgery soon. Hoping for the very best results for you. Also glad you got you honey bells order straightened out. What a mess! Karen you are doing very well...so disciplined...on your eating plan. I'm doing better but not every day....I need some of that discipline.

Lynn - 2# isn't bad at all! I gained 6#...actually mine started a couple days before Thanksgiving. But before this trip I was only up 2#, now I don't know.

Rosey - I was going to make pizza tonight but by the time we got home, I was too tired so it was each on his own tonight and I just had a mocha and 1/2 apple with PB. I know not the best, but I was missing my mocha!

Oh, I'm proud of myself...dh just came in and said he felt guilty because he was eating some caramel he bought at the coast..he bought it when we got the ice cream. AND I thanked him but said, no I can't right now. Too close to my "dinner" (see above) and my bs has been high today. Not sure I could have done it if it had been the chocolates but he hasn't opened them yet.

Had to edit my post as I made some mistakes in my diary entries. For one I'd accidentally put in that I ate 1 1/2 BAGS of popcorn which I certainly did not! Lol

So here's the corrected version.

Today's stats:

Cals 1494
Fat 80 H
Chol 262 H
Carb 148
Sodium 2097
Fiber 15

Ollie our puppy is training us to his ways. 1st night he cried all night until 4:30am. Then Bruce put him in his bed where the dog tunneled under the sheets to the bottom of the bed. He didn't hear a peep out of him the rest of the night. I scolded Bruce for giving in, told him I'd handle him tonight. (last night). I only lasted until 1:00 am before I put him in bed with me. Ollie promply tunneled to the bottom of the bed under the sheets, no peep out of him until morning. Tonight I'm not even going to try putting him in his own bed, he's used to his 3 sister pups keeping him warm.

I started out counting calories yesterday but the frozen banana muffins I made for Bruce threw me. I'm still under 1200 calories which I'm using as a guide line for maintaining.

Mary...fruit cake? You actually eat that stuff? It would have to have mostly Rum in it for me to tackle it.

K3...are you cooking up ahead lots of food for DH? (pending surgery)

Rosey...that's my goal, to grow my hair out. Unfortunately it grows very slow. I'm going into my 3rd act of life, no more straightened my hair out with a curling iron. One of my sisters has long hair and it looks so nice pulled back into a low ponytail with a silk scarf. I'm not sure I can wait for the in between stages but I'm so tired of my same old hair-do.

Lynn...I didn't have time yesterday to spend time at the www.dwlz.com site. I'm not sure what it is but will as soon as I post this. Great article you posted abut keeping on track.

Cajun...how far away is your cabin? You spend so much time there, might you both live there permanently some time in the future?

What's happening gramie?

I think I'll wonder over to the dwlz site, later gators.

Hi Everyone,

For the next 3 days, I plan to work on my course and cook healthy food. My intent is to sit at my computer for no more than an hour at a time & then, go make something to eat. I am hoping to move around enough to not get so stiff.

I picked up a lo-carb recipe magazine at the supermarket. Going to try some of the recipes. If anything is REALLY good, I will post it.

Have a GREAT Saturday,

Lynn

Hi Karen,

I am trying to avoid knee surgery. So far, my chiropractor has the pain down from an 8 to a 3. Hurts most when I go up and down stairs & when I walk fast.

Hi Mary,

Because I was away from JC for 2 months, they need to measure me again. I dug out my measurements from 2006 when I was 185 pounds. Am anxious to see how they changed.

Hi Bobbi,

You snuck in while I was posting.

DWLZ is Dottie's Weight Loss Zone. Her website is filled with all kinds of stuff about weight loss. One of the places I visit most is her Restaurants section. She has the menus for all chain restaurants with both nutrition info for all of their food + WW points info.

Morning all....I did get on the scale and it was kind to me. Down 15lbs now. Oh my toes are getting skinny. Just once would love some one to look at me and say Wow you've lost weight. Just once.

Lynn...I have battled these knees for years. All that walking on unforgiving tile/cement hospital floors did it for sure. I got away for years with a band that gave the knee cap support, but now bone on bone is left and it is time. The pain and PT will be hard, but I'll just have to put my head down and bull thru. Possible side effect is loss of appetite...hey that sounds good.

Bobbi....If I ate the fiber amounts you consume I'd have an adobe gut. Love the sweet new baby. I came so close to getting a pup last weekend, but will wait until after. Dash needs a sib.

Karen...that web page myfridgefood.com is fun. Thank you

As far as food for DH while I'm gone. He hates casseroles etc. I'll make a meatloaf (huge) and tray of egg plant stacks, plus liverwurst, bologna etc. He learned when I had the open heart surgery to grocery shop and will fend for himself a bit.

Gosh, this waiting for next step is killing me and Monday is a holiday....

Donna....Doc Martin! Hasn't he gotten older and thinner? We loved every minute.

Off to get a few things at Publix

Good Morning, Goldens!

MIA, but back.......

Yes, I was hunkered down with the Brits... thoroughly enjoyed the "Doc Martin" series (thoroughly!) and am already waiting with bated breath for the next one. So, KarenFL, why doesn't anyone AGE??????? You posted while I was posting... so, yes, Doc Martin is older and skinnier, but no one else seems to have aged. I. Do. Not. Like. His. Mean. Old. Mother!

No discussion of "Downton Abbey"? I still am liking it; how about you all? The season premiere, as usual, was too, too, too crammed with stuff, but they're back on track now.

I know you're excited about your knee surgery, KarenFL, and I'm jealous about your quick surgery date. Mine is still dragging out to AT LEAST June, and I am SO ready. My whining is pretty much nonstop, I think, and I'm sick of listening to me. I'm trying to not make those old lady sounds, the "eh... ah... uh..." when I move, so I'm prone to bursting into melody at odd times: "eh ta tata".... Whatever, people do give me a wide berth! I'm glad you're being realistic about your recovery process. You won't be dancing at my bedside in June... but maybe you can dance at my birthday in September!!

Lynn - are you sleeping better now?

Rosey - doing okay?? How's Mr. CP?

Nothing much is going on here. Weather has been gorgeous, when it's not windy, at least... My FIL is in cardiac failure and isn't expected to last much longer. He and my MIL were wonderful to me over the years, and I'll miss him. Otherwise, all are well.

Nothing to report! Sounds like you've all been busy, busy. Oh, I'm down a solid 4# since the first of the year. Even a pound a week lost is better than a pound a week gained. I'm keeping quiet about it so as not to jinx it! Only 759.285# to go!!! (sigh)

Have a lovely weekend, all. I slept 10 hours last night, feel great, and have an acupuncture apptment this afternoon. Good day ahead!!

Bobbi - pats to that precious pup!! You said the males don't bark... ever??? And how could you not let that warm little bundle of joy into your bed as a foot warmer?

Everyone - have a good weekend! Later, lovelies!

Good morning!! I slept late this morning but I think I needed it!! I have been busy this week, as I will be next week with Dr.s!! I have been called back for an ultrasound mammogram and that will be on Tuesday.

Tim hasn't been feeling so good since about Thanksgiving. He started with a head and chest cold and then never really has bounced back. But anyway, and probably has nothing to do with the cold, last week I told him his eyes looked yellow. Well of course he couldn't see it. But then he did go ahead and make an appt. with the Dr. We had to be at the VA clinic in Mt.Vernon at 8:30--it is about an hour away on Wednesday. The Dr. thought it was hepatitis but wouldn't know for sure until all the blood work got back whether it was A, B or C-- He called Thursday morning and it isn't Hepatitis so they want more blood work done and an ultrasound of his liver and pancreas. We had to be there at 7:30 yesterday morning. The ultrasound shows an obstruction, maybe an growth or a lot of gall stones, between the liver and pancreas. So now we will be headed to Fayettville on Wednesday morning for a cat scan of that. Sure hope they can find out what is going on and get him better. He has lost 10 pounds and he can't afford to lose any weight!! So that has been my week!

I did lose 1.6 this week which makes a grand total of 3.6 since the first! Too slow but still have to be happy that it is going in the right direction.

Donna, sorry to hear about you FIL. Hugs to you.

Karen, glad you liked that website.. I haven't had a chance to even play on it yet...sigh....

OK, got to find out what Tim wants to eat. nothing tastes good to him but he needs to eat!!

Be back later and sorry that I missed so many.. will try to catch up when my brain stops spinning!!

Hi Rosey,

I have figured out that my nail problem is caused by the dryness from the heat in the winter. They are all chipping and breaking. However, when I was down in FL - VERY humid & no heat on - they started to get healthy again.

Below is a link to site about healthy nails -

Ditto what K3 said. We have enough aches and pains as we grow older, nobody needs more grief. Hope the solution for Tim will be a easy one.
