  • Thought I would post in this thread. I am really working right now on getting lots of support for weight loss and focusing on it right now.

I'm a regained lifetime member of WW. I don't blame WW for my regain since it happened when I quit going to WW. I had lost down to the low 160s about 2 years ago then we were moving and I quit going to WW (sound familiar?) and regained 30 pounds. I've lost part of that, but still working on losing more.

I will turn 60 in late April and if I could get below 175 would be in the overweight category by BMI. So I plan to get there before my birthday.

Let me see...what else? I'm married with 3 kids, 2 of whom are in college with the older already out on his own. I currently work part-time from home.
  • Quick Hola, All...

Snowing here... but it's not very cold, and we don't seem to be getting much accumulation. Supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow or Wednesday, then back down into the 30's..... weird winter! And Rosey - I saw where you in Alaska were so warm! Maybe MamaNature really DOES have Alzheimer's???? I thought she was just p*ssed!

Rosey - glad you snarked back to Mr. CP. These stinkin' men get way uppity!

Bobbi - I used your idea of a "free day" yesterday and, interestingly (to me), I didn't lose my mind. When I fall off the wagon, I tend to say "well, I've blown it, might as well make it good". Since yesterday was a free day, I was very calm, ate whatever I wanted, but had no need to go off the deep end. I like this!!

    KarenFL - any schedule news????

Have finished my laundry and made a bunch of phone calls. Now it's time to go do dishes and then to GORK!

So, there's been no mention of Downton Abbey.... are you all liking it this season or not? I AM!

    Stay warm/cool/whatever...... later, lovelies!!!
  • Evening all....OMG Cajun, That's the mess that my bridge partner was trying to drive thru in her wee electric car.

No schedule yet. His office is closed on Mondays (surgery day). sighhhhh
I bought a bed rail short about 15" with good support and have been able to sleep 6-7 hrs in bed. It helps me change position without using the dumb knees. I had a feast last night..Downton Abbey and the True Detectives....Never even thought about moving around.

Donna...what a cliff hanger when he says I will find him. Who's Mary gonna pick they are all poshy wimps so far. And what's his name in Germany....it's getting close to wwII isn't it? Tom to America nah....Aren't we due for a Shirley McClain entry? Told you I am a BBC freak! Maggie Smith last night had me LOL!

Has anyone started their taxes? I hate doing them and usually procrastinate until April. But with knees pending I pulled all the receipts etc out today and organized them. Have to go over to the library and get forms. CPA will set up an appt and does the actual filing....wonder if we can just say ditto from last year. DH has had the boxes with old taxes stored in the attic....you know pull down steps etc etc....so last April I hid the box in my closet...TaDah! Yup I was smurking.
  • KarenFL - I figured Anna would get pregnant and would lose Bates for keeping it a secret.... But, not that!!! I hope he doesn't end up with a rope around his neck! And Mary, Mary, Mary.... she'd squash any of those weenies like bugs! Maybe this newest one will be the one? I agree that Maggie Smith was in rare form!

Sorry you don't have a surgery schedule yet... I hope I'm not welcoming you to my world! Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that I had lunch with my friend who had both knees replaced last March. She got out of her car and walked toward me with no walker, no crutches, just her own power! I was so glad for her! She said the rehab took far longer than she thought it should (!) but that she's SO glad she had them replaced!

Snowing like a sumbi*ch here, but I'm sure it'll be 50 tomorrow... and we'll all get colds! It's kind of pretty out there, and it doesn't look like much accumulation, maybe 3-4".

Funeral services for my FIL are Thursday at Ft Logan National Cemetery. I've never been to a funeral at a military cemetery, should be very moving.

Got a lot of "stuff" done today. Time to go poop up the furnace and do a little more gorking.

    Later, lovelies!
  • Hello, hello... Thought I'd be able to get on here more often, really wanted to get to know you all better. I do jump on and read just about every day but don't take the time to write. I don't know what is going on with me but I've gotten in the habit of eating one meal a day and it's not bothering me a bit. I go out to lunch with the girls at work then don't eat until the next day at lunch. I still walk on the treadmill 30 mins. morning and 30 mins at night. I can tell I'm losing but I HATE the scales so probably won't weigh again until the next time I go to the doctor which is the 4th of March..unless I get sick and have to go in. Till next time, ya'll take care.

    dinner
chow mein with a few crunchie noodles on top

    snack

  • Rosey ~ when you make your salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and avocados ~ what kind of dressing do you use on it if any?
  • glynne I usualy use Kens lite raspberry walnut dressing,or the pomegranate one I imagine any brand would do similar to the ones I use.. its a sweet vinegar oil based dressing. and befor I use it I open it and carefully squeeze asmuch oil as I can out of the bottle befor I shake it up. In this salad ive used cukes, red onion.tomatoes, avacado, black olives, sometimes the canned 3 bean salad(get it all wallmart and its as good as homemade) croutons, chix or whatever meat I have.. the little grape tomatoes work best. since I cant eat a lot I can control better how much of each item I put in it. this is my favorite salad and eat it often. hope you like it too rosey
  • Thanks Rosey
  • We are at 3 this morning. I am so ready for spring!!!
I came in a bit high on calories yesterday but will watch it closer today.
I am feeling better finally! Can't wait to be done with antibotics. This one really hurts my tummy.

My daycare kids are out of routine and it will be a long week getting them lined out! They have missed so much with the holidays and snow and flu.

Going to try and be more active today. I am feeling better but my energy isn't where it should be. I am behind on housework so will focus on that this morning.
My daughter is 38.5 weeks pregnant and goes to the dr today. Can't wait to hear if they pick a date to induce her. This baby is a boy. I will have 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters, all age 5 and under.

    House work awaits...

Rosey, I never thought to squeeze the oil out of the dressing before you shake it up. That is a wonderful idea!
  • I saw that a few of you were discussing "Downton Abbey" -- which I just recently "discovered"!! A co-worker brought me Season #1 on DVD and I was hooked. Have now watched Season 2 as well. What do you think? Does it lose its appeal after a while? Or are you enjoying it as much? Should I continue watching the old seasons to catch up, or just jump into the current one? Opinions please!
  • Lizzy - there are at least a couple of DIEHARD Downton Abbey fans here! I certainly have NOT lost my enthusiasm for it! Definitely get the other seasons and have a marathon viewing so you know what's what with this season. My only complaint is that they cram SO much into the first episode of each season that I'm overwhelmed!

My SIL, though, is bored... but what does SHE know? LOL

  • Hello GGs! It's overcast today but so far no rain, which was forecast, maybe tonight. We didn't go to the gym and I got up before dh but kept things quiet and dark for him as I felt he probably needed the rest. The doctor said his anemia has improved a little but is still there so he needs to ease off a little on his regular activities until he is better. We are also increasing his iron. He thinks the anemia is causing the shortness of breath which is what I was wondering. I'm glad I convinced him to go in. We went back to our usual doc. I have given up on finding another doctor for now. In case anyone else is looking for a new doctor...be aware that many doctors are not accepting new Medicare patients. Even if you have a second insurance! I went to the Medicare site and found out by calling that most of those who "accept" Medicare assignment, actually do not take any new patients. Our govt spends so much money and we are in such high debt and yet no money goes into increasing the payments for Medicare patients. I don't blame the doctors, they have costs too, and they get only a very small portion of what they are asked for plus the Medicare requirements continue to increase, which adds a lot of stress to an already stressful job. I'm wondering if this plays a part in how our doctor has changed.

You are making me interested in watching Downtown Abbey. I don't think we get it ...we have below basic TV...but I may get it from Netflix. My queue is so long now I may not live long enough to view it so will move it to the top part. LOL I alternate my Dark Shadows discs with movies I think dh might like so I'll now add it as another alternate. I get mixed up sometimes with the Dark Shadows and this week I got one I'd already seen. Also what is that other one you guys are watching and like so much? Forgot the name.

We went out to eat last night after dh's appt...chinese. It was good but I actually enjoyed the egg rolls the most. I think I ate pretty reasonable but I didn't really track. I was pretty full all evening at least. That's two days I haven't tracked...so hopefully I'll do better today.

Today is my sister's birthday and it's a big one...she is 80. Can't believe it! Its hard to realize that both of us are old ladies! I'd better get off this computer and call her.

Maybe I'll be back later for personals.
  • Another hard core fan of Downton Abbey here.
We didn't watch the first two seasons but heard so much about it that I ordered both the 1st and 2nd season. After catching up, I put the two seasons up for sale on ebay and promptly got my money back plus a little. Our daughter tried watching it but she was bored like Donna's SIL.
