Hello Goldens! Hope you are having a good day. Finally got dh in to see his gastroenterologist. He does not know what caused the bleeding...just like the ER doc he the only thing he can think is the diverticula. He knows the bleeding was real because dh's blood count dropped and he is now anemic. They did not tell us that at the hospital. So today he started taking iron. The polyps were benign however the somewhat bad news is that the the large polyp they removed is a very rapidly growing kind and they can become cancerous. So now he is scheduled to have another colonoscopy in three months rather than six. Feel sorry for him as he had so much pain from the buildup of air after his last one and I know he is really dreading doing it again.

Cajun - I understand how you feel. We have set off the alarm accidentally several times. Usually it's the smoke detector part in our case but sometimes it's something else. There was one time when dh set off the panic button like you did while he was outside mowing. At least that's what we assume happened since I was not even holding the remote, and he had it in his pocket. No one called that time. Next thing I know there's a cop at my door and walks right in through the house to the family room where I show him the alarm system and that I hadn't done it. I showed him that my dh was outside mowing the lawn. They wrote up a police report on it (I found out later). I even had to complete a form later on explaining that I didn't even know it happened so that the company paid the fine instead of us! BTW, sitting around the camp reading a good book sounds good to me as long as you're warm! I wouldn't want to be out there hunting if it's cold weather. A hot drink and a fireplace would be nice! ETA: Just now remembered that dh DIDN"T have the remote in his pocket, as we found it sitting on his desk after the cop left...I just assumed he did at the time.

Bobbi - Enjoyed reading about the strange laws! Guess it goes to show the law makers have always been a little screwy and out of touch...
Comfy bras...are there such things?...you should see the ones I have to wear for my posture...ugly wide straps and either pull overs or front fasteners. I hate them all except for one sport bra. The supposedly "best" one is tight and uncomfortable...doesn't fit well...comes up high under my arms, but had to get the size to fit me around. Most of the others give me a uni-boob. The straps off all of them tend to show no matter what I wear, so occasionally when I want to look better, I wear a regular bra but i'm not suppose to per PT. Bet she wouldn't wear these things but then her back is nice and straight. Of my regular bras, I prefer the one I bought at Macy's. It is underwire but pretty comfortable for an underwire. I also used to like Barely There bras. Hope you find one that you like. Around the house I don't wear the things! I hate clothing shopping period, hate trying on stuff. I think maybe I'd like it better though if I were more your size...it isn't the cold that bothers me...it's my big belly.

Rosey - I take Benadryl sometimes too although more likely I get it in Tyl PM. I'll take it alone sometimes when I don't have pain, just can't sleep yet am tired. Advil I don't take because dh had a reaction to it and that kinda turned me off it. Seems like many older people do fine with it though. Dave's power bread sounds good! Isn't there one called Dave's Killer Bread or is that Steve's? I used to like it but dh didn't, however now that he realizes he needs the fiber, he might reconsider. Prob a lot of cals and carbs for me perhaps though now....I usually just eat Sara Lee's WW 45 cal bread. It's ok, but I do love really good bread.

Well our snow has stopped for the time being and now we have rain! It rained a lot this morning -- wish I had thought and put the rain gauge out, it is 52 degrees and supposed to get to 65 by Sunday. The way it is right now we have bout 8 days coming that should be very nice. BUT winter isn't over I'm sure.

Wednesday I had a dentist appt. and that went well. Just a cleaning but everything looked good. Thursday was my mammogram day..... haven't heard anything from them yet but probably a letter next week saying all is good!! Today I just went with my hubby to his dentist appt. and enjoyed reading my book on my ipad while he was in there. Picked up dog food and Pupcorn on the way back and all is well.

I hope everyone is doing OK. Sounds like there are concerns to send prayers out. I hope everything gets better for everyone.

Need to get going and get some stuff done.. Think tonight we will have the last of the leftover beef stew for supper. Sounds good to me.

Take care and have a good night.

Hi Everyone,

I spoke with my Dr. He told me that it was not a good idea to stop the pain pills and the sleeping pills cold turkey. Suggested I cut back to 1 pain pill & 1 sleeping pill. I did this last night and slept 8 hours!

Bought a Microsoft Surface today. I need to see if I can use a mouse with it.

Today's veggies - cabbage, beets, carrots, celery
Today's fruit - pear & prunes.

I just had to share this recipe with you, really good. DH isn't a fan of cold slaw but he raved about it twice. Very simple ingredients, I left out the oil. One of the reviewers said it didn't need it and why add more calories. I cut the recipe in 1/2, that's why you see odd measurments. I put it in fitday, 1 oz = 14 calories. Another viewer said she only added half the miracle whip, let it sit for an hour, drain and add the other half. Apparently it gets a tad watery, I just made it 1 hour before we ate so it was still creamy. But all cole slaw recipes get watery after sitting overnight.

Quote:
Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Rated: 5 Star rating.

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 (16 ounce) bag coleslaw mix
1 tablespoon diced onion
1/3 cup creamy salad dressing (such as
Miracle Whip™)
1 tablespoon and 1-1/2 teaspoons
vegetable oil (I left this out, doesn't need it.)
1/4 cup white sugar (I used splenda)
1-1/2 teaspoons white vinegar ( I used 2 teaspoons cider vinegar)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds
DIRECTIONS:
You have scaled this recipe's ingredients to yield a new amount (4). The directions below still refer to the original recipe yield (8).
1. Combine the coleslaw mix and onion in a large bowl.
2. Whisk together the salad dressing, vegetable oil, sugar, vinegar, salt, and poppy seeds in a medium bowl; blend thoroughly. Pour dressing mixture over coleslaw mix and toss to coat. Chill at least 2 hours before serving.

Evening all....Just home from bridge. Stuffed my face and sitting here still ticking. We Won! I played with my 3rd boy, Carl. Gotta love my boys (ave age is 80). 24 tables, too.

Gee, here I thought only my DH drives me insane with a panic button. Even when I drive he carries my keys in his pant pocket and every time he gets in or out of my car he presses the darn button. Scares the bejueus out of me. Tuesday I was here online and my car starts singing...yup he got out of the jeep and pressed it. This happens 2-3x a week. Think he'd learn duh....

Thank you...the weather is back on track. 80 today and sunny.

Bobbi...that is Lizzy Titts' recipe for slaw that she always made at the church suppers. The Methodist church Ladies made dinners every few months and each woman had an assignment. It took years to graduate up from table setting to actual cooking. In 16 years I never got higher (nobody died) But boy did they teach some good cooking. Still can taste the pancake/sausage dinner....that's with pork gravy on the pancakes too! Try using that dressing for chicken salad or potato salad.....hum

I am still battling the orchard for DD's Christmas honey bells fruit. Email today says they will send me 10% of my costs.....because they are late. Well, sure they are late or early for next Christmas.

Well into the 2 weeks of level one South Beach. Nothing is tempting me at all. But bored with selections. Not to mention cooking everything. Ahh that wasn't really fair. DH had a salad made, the soup heated and the hamburger ready for me to cook tonight when I walled in the house. He has come a long way from when his idea of helping was to not complain!

Mary....sounds like you2 will be eating the same diet.

Donna...did Doc show up?

Rosey...my DD got the hi protein shakes by Click. Actually I sent them to her and she says they are the best favored ones. Sent you her thank you. Her surgery should be Feb ?????.

Cajun...I was really good until I read that apple/caramel/cream/pie. Just writing down the name is fattening and please send me one slice.

Lynn....hope for another 8 hours. With a nights rest you can do anything.

I'm sorry Rosey that you have to endure those mean, insensitive comments. Right about now, I have a place in mind to place those painted toenails and flowers Sorry, that just makes me mad on your behalf.

Nothing exciting going on this weekend, I finally found a couple of bras that fit me, had to go up a cup size? Probably because they are all made differently, some push you up, some maximize, underwires fit different than regular, etc.

They have many yellow dot sales (70-90% off)at this department store and I have a coupon for 15% more off the clearance price. I'm going shopping for things I don't need this morning. Any of you do that?

Mary...Bruce said those laws in the article were called "Blue Laws" made by the Quakers.

K3...I'm surprised you aren't cooking in the kitchen at your church since you're such a good cook. I love church luncheons, I love casseroles. In the olden days at our church they made coffee with an egg in it, it was the best coffee. How unfortunate for us that they don't do that anymore.

Cajun...I'll have a slice of that caramel cream cheese pie too. If you send it, I'll go off my diet and eat it.

Have a fun week-end everyone and we're all watching you cajun at camp.

Good morning GG’s,

It looks like the sun is trying to peek through. It is supposed to get up to 70 here today.

Bobbi ~ enjoy your shopping trip. I shop like that sometimes ~ I think I need the stuff I get, but probably could do without it

Lynn ~ glad you are getting some sleep. It is miserable not to be able to sleep.

Rosey ~ glad your puppies are able to get outside again. Hope they don’t have to get “up close and personal” with those moose.

K3 ~ interesting, the stories about the church suppers.

Saraphin ~ congrats on your ticker moving down

K31 ~ what is pupcorn?

Mary ~ how are you and Joe doing?

Cajun ~ enjoy your time at camp. When you describe your preparations for your weekends, it sounds like so much work that it would leave you tired out and take the enjoyment out of the weekend for you. Maybe you have been doing it for so long now though that it isn’t as much work as it sounds.

Donna ~ how are you doing? Are you enjoying the shows?

I was wanting to kind of gork and do some stuff while watching TV, but my TV is acting like it wants to die.

Gonna call mom in a bit and check up on her ~ visit a little. I miss getting to talk to her as often as I used to.

Hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Good morning GG's!! It is really a beautiful day here already 38 degrees and supposed to get up to 52! Tomorrow we are supposed to get up to 63! YAY!! I can use a break from this winter!

Lynn, be careful with all the flooding that I'm sure is going to be happening. Keep us updated.

Rosey, sometimes men just never think-- no excuse for it but then again they are men!! I get so disgusted with mine sometimes I could throttle him! But we chose them and I'm sure they "think" we have faults too...

Gayle, Pupcorn is treats for Ginger and Sissy. They kind of look like our cheese curls. My two love them! So my two each get a half of small milk bone in the morning, they have to eat that in the bed and I have to be on the bed too, then at noon they get a piece of pupcorn each, and at 4:00 they get a Greenie, which helps to keep their teeth clean and helps with their breath. And believe me, for those times of the day we don't need a clock! They let us know!! At about 10:00 at night they are ready for bed and will grab a "baby" of some kind and start bugging me to go to bed. Geez, who runs this house???

Donna, I'll bet you have your TV going and are so happy!! And have ink for the printer now-- WOW!! Can it get any better!!

Ok, I need to get busy today and enjoy this sunshine! Loving it!

Hello to everyone and I'll catch up with everyone sooner or later!

Good Sat everyone! We are babysitting overnight and the gc came earlier than expected. We were barely out of bed, when our dd called to tell us they were on their way. They are so cute and really good kids and we are happy to have them. DD was worried it might be too much for us but I think it will be good to have them to take our minds off everything else. Dh is still bleeding a little but since doctor knows we are just monitoring it and if it continues I will call the doc. It appears now to be older blood so suspect we are at the end of it.

Not sure whether I've mentioned it before but a couple days ago I got an external charger for my iphones/ipad. It was pretty inexpensive on Amazon as things like that go, but had fairly good reviews and my iphone seems to not hold a charge very long and sometimes runs out at the worst times.

Having trouble getting back on track with my diet. Very motivated in the morning but as day goes on, I lose it. As you know eves have always been the hardest for me. So I confess I am still five pounds up from my sig weight. If I confess it I have to deal with it, right?

Ok, can't neglect the little ones too long..they play well together usually, but I don't see them real often so want to spend time with them too.

Talk later,
Mary

Hello all, I've been meaning to get on here for the last few days, but - My gosh time sure gets away from me! I finally got to drive myself to work on Friday and it felt sooo good. I kind of got a taste of how it's going to be years down the road when my kids take my driving privileges away and I can tell you now they might have a fight on their hands. Ha!

Still walking an hour a day and so far I've been sticking to my "life change" (no sweets, no snacking between meals) and have even skipped eating breakfast and supper several times this week just because nothing sounded good. Plus, I have to admit that when I eat breakfast I want to eat all day long. Is anyone else like that?

People keep telling me I need to get on the scales regularly too. I hate the scales! I put down my starting weight from when I went to the doctor last, not what I weighed the day I started this, which is pretty close. I figure if I step on the scale and I don't see the difference I want then I'm apt to give up. Also I go mostly by how I feel not the number on the scales. Maybe I'm a chicken! How do ya'll do it?

Bye for now! It's been a beautiful weekend so far. Sunshine! Woohoo!!
