Hi Everyone! I would like to announce that I am down to 1 inch of coffee per day. It's very hard. I want more. I struggle until noon and after that it doesn't interest me.

Marie - I am a carboholic. Now that I am diabetic I need to avoid them like the plague. On Monday I went crazy eating noodles and they were soooo good, but I really did a job on my blood sugar. So high it scared me half to death. So the past few days I watched my carbs very well and my BS is so much better and I have lost 2 lbs. So I know it's best for me not to eat them, but I love them so much! DH is also a carboholic and that makes it harder for me, seeing him eating all the potatoes and pasta. Luckily the sweets don't tempt me.

There has been a half gallon of ice cream in the freezer all week and I have not had 1 taste of it! Yay for me! I don't even think about it!

Slmn11: Congrats on the coffee success. That is so neat to be at a place where after noon the thing that is calling you stops calling you. Woot!

Terapet: Thanks for the congrats re the lovely number; it IS a lovely one, so pleasin' to the ear. Your strength class sounds fun. Congrats also on the cookie front.

I ended the eating day at 1505, was a stressful day and no stress eating, so that was good. Today's exercise was a 60 minute walk and another 5 minutes of the standing pilates moves. The interesting thing about standing pilates is that for me with spinal and alignment issues, the standing version is so effecting in helping me with those issues, although the mat work is great, too, but I would like an all standing practice at some point. Have never used the Reformer but intend to book a session sometime when I have the funding for such discretionary things.

Am focused on work now so must away! Have a good day all!

Tera on the way to get the cookies out of the house. Of course now my visual brain is going - through the septic/sewer system.

Am2, ok, what is Standing Pilates. I'm the hunchback Marie in case you didn't know. I'd really like to work on posture and such because the shoulder pain is from the poor posture. I'm sure of that. The chiropractor that I tried on Tuesday thought so too.

I found another hip flexor stretch to try and I did in my office (didn't close the door either). It was a good stretch so I'm adding it to my yoga stretches. Which I did today in the middle of packing for our cross country trip. And that starts in 60 minutes. Eeks. I eat my way across the country. The food bin is packed and some of it is even healthy. I did the elliptical this morning as well. I love that toy.

Carol Sue, YAY!!!!! on the coffee reduction. Glad I'm not following your lead or my mochas would be eradicated and that would be BAD!

I will post here through the trip. And Tera, no plans other than my friend, Son and his family, and DH. When we get back a week from Sunday, we're taking a week of staycation (my favorite vacation) and my birthday is on the 3rd. Just a little Red Velvet Cake. DH has gotten good at making it. My mother made it for my b-day since I was a short (notice I didn't use wee) child. It's the Waldorf Austoria's recipe and fantastic. There is more fat and sugar in it than is remotely acceptable. I so look forward to it. And now to find all the Starbucks along the way to Minnesota. Thankfully the SBUX iphone app has a store locator that uses one's current location. Heck, even my Tom-tom has them programmed in. Good thing I'm a stockholder and not all my mocha obsession is a loss. I'm helping my stock. Rationalize, rationalize, rationalize....

1574 calories, almost 14 carb serv. Made a good beef vegetable soup tonight.
I've been having trouble getting here to post, didn't even realize I misseed so many days. But I've been doing about the same...some good days, some not so much. Little exercise since I haven't been well, or been babysiteeing...always some excuse...I know shouldn't allow that. Well hopefully Ill get back to it next week.

Talking Woot!

We've got a monsoon rain, blowing tiles off everyone's roofs (including mine) but is so glorious.

Anyway, Marie, Standing Pilates is just mat pilates on a different plane that might align the spine better in the functional position of standing. I took a class once but only lately became interested in it again. There is a book on iBooks called Standing Pilates by its supposed inventor Joan Breibert. I've been studying that for awhile.

Hope you are enjoying your trip, guess you are traveling by now. Ahhh, Red Velvet Cake, wish I had some.

Maryea: Beef vegetable soup sounds good. Hope you are feeling well today. Good calorie count.

For me today was a work day and I got a lot done. Calories at 1480 and still have a half a protein drink that I will have in a bit. Exercise was a 60 minute walk and 5 minutes standing pilates. Need to increase that but going to do regular pilates for awhile soon.

Huzzah, all! Have a good week coming up!

Very wise choice maryea. How did you feel when you said no? Sad, frustrated, relieved, proud, empowered, happy? You go girl!

A2, I enjoy a good rain storm also. We are having plenty of those down here this year. Standing Pilates sounds interesting. I try to focus on my posture too. I've seen myself in pictures with sloped shoulders and my tummy sticking out. Ick. Heck standing or sitting erect and holding in those tummy muscles is probably right in line with standing pilates not to mention the instant breast lift and tummy tuck effect.

Marie-Ooo, travel. I hope you are enjoying a nice visit. Your birthday plans sound fun and delicious.

This morning I put some beans on the stovetop to add to salads or stir fried veggies later this week. I left my husband with his paper and went for a walk around the neighborhood with just my latte for company. The pleasant temperature, lovely blue sky and bright sunshine felt soothing. Upon my return home I blended a peach, a mango, a banana and spinach with some yogurt and crushed ice for breakfast and "walked" my poor sweet geriatic pooch around the trees in the backyard. Nice morning.

CaroSue-Congrats on successfully navigating the coffee and ice cream.

Hello, everyone! Up early to get a little work finished and it is too early to walk so thought I'd post here!

Great save on the slurpy and doughnut, Maryea! Woot!

Terapet: Your morning sounds so nice, walking with the latte and the great smoothie.

Lol, I "walk" my dog around my yard as well, we go around and around the inside the enclosure and she thinks we are hiking.

I did lose .2 at my weigh-in yesterday and feel really good about it. It doesn't seem like much but any loss or a maintain is great in my book.

Cals were 1580, exercise was a 60 minute brisk walk.

Woot!

I have been on a high calorie food kick lately. Today it was a hamburger and rice dish with peppers and tomato sauce. Yum, but did I really need to have seconds?! Sigh. Well, "water under the bridge" as they say. On the good side, I did get to the Y for my 60 minute step class. That felt great.

A2-Congrats on the loss. You are moving in the right direction.

Thanks, Terapet! Woot! Good work on getting to the Y. That dish you described sounds wonderful. Doesn't hurt to have seconds sometimes.

I ended the eating day at 1520 but there is still the chance I might have a snack, haven't decided. Need to grocery shop tomorrow, need more options.

Exercise was a 15 min walk and 30 min weights in the morning and just now a 15 min run/walk (in the heat).

Really hot and tired, going to lie down. Good night all.

Tera I felt good when I turned down the doughnut and slurpee the other day although there was a momentary thought of "WHAT am I doing?!!" LOL

Today is a different story...I can't seem to be good two days in a row! Actually I did very well until this afternoon, then I had three largish snacks...too embarrassed to tell you more. Then right after I ate them I remember we are going out to eat! We went for Chinese and I don't want to even think about how many calories and carbs I got today. So I will just list the things I sorta did well and try to learn from it and do better tomorrow. If I hadn't overeaten on the snacks in the afternoon, my day would have been pretty well even with eating out. So I was mad at myself! I think that's good that I was mad...it means I'm changing how I feel about overeating and really don't want to do it anymore.

1. Ask dh to wait a couple hours to go to dinner since I was full. He was too so worked out well

2. Took my bs before we left...of course it was high from all my afternoon snacking so I took my meds right then instead of waiting until after eating dinner.

3. I ordered a dish with lots of veggies, didn't eat the meat (didn't want it but dh will eat it later) and the only carb I got was a little bit of crisp noodle and a little crisp batter on one of the appetizer vegetables. I know the protein would have been good for me to help out with the carbs but I just don't care much for white (not browned) chicken!

4. I stopped as soon as I felt full, but even that was too full I realized when I stood up. The "eating pause" (see my book excerpts in GG thread) doesn't work as well at a restaurant because you have a "pause" after each course..so if you feel fullness after the appetizer are you suppose to cancel your main course or take it all home and just sit and watch your partner eat?

5. I took 1/2 my entree home.

6. I didn't eat any more after I got home.

Hello, Maezy1! It is nice to meet you. Sorry you had a bad day and hope tomorrow is better!

Maryea, that is a pretty impressive list of things you did right! Woot!

I ended (hopefully) the eating day with 1640. I still have a desire for some sugar free popsicles as oddly I am dehydrated, although this was not a hot day. The temp is 102 at 7 p.m. but that is not particularly high for where I live. So I may have popsicles. Could just drink water but want the popsicles lol.

Exercise was a 115 minute walk in the state park with some people. Was very nice. Took cat to vet and her health problem was better than last year and that made me happy.

Lol, absolutely nothing else of note happened in my day. I need a life lol.

I DID have two sweet rolls. Have sworn off donuts forever. I am down to very little "bad" stuff and sweet rolls are NOT low glycemic, but after I brought the cat home I went to grocery and I think still felt stressed or some negative emotion and I grabbed a package of sweet rolls off the shelf. I know that brand and have even weighed it. It weighs more than the package says and therefore is more calories but I have put that in My Net Diary tracker. I knew I wanted to eat two rolls so I did. I then threw the package in the dumpster and never took it into the house. I ate some salmon and broccoli and had a protein shake for evening. Feel good about the choices made but need to not eat sweet rolls as they are not conducive to weight management !

Good night, all.

I think I did pretty good today. Breakfast was an egg, toast and a fruit smoothie. Lunch was one serving of leftover hamburger and rice and watermelon and dark chocolate and dinner was a huge salad and more dark chocolate. Exercise was one hour of strength training class at the Y and a walk around the neighborhood with my friend after dinner.

Welcome maezy. Sorry about your tough day. Tomorrow provides another chance.

maryea-Boy that was a challenging day. Good for you for making efforts to mitigate the damage. I have to admit there are times I just go along with people and do not eat at restaurants. I just have something to drink. I simply like my own food better than most restaurant offerings and do not want to deal with the high calories but I do enjoy the social aspects. Most of my friends and family are fine with it.

A2-Another good day. Way to go.

A@-we were posting at the same time-ha, ha. Oops on the cinnamon rolls. Sounds yummy though. Good for you for throwing out the rest. That was a strong thing to do. I am impressed you walked outside in 100 degree heat. I would have melted.
