Default 2012 Challenge Thread, The Second Half

Hi all,

Call it a second half of the New Year's resolution or a new way of life or continuing the progress made in 2011 or the first half of 2012 - here's a self challenge for a healthy way of life. This is a place to share successes, difficulties, frustrations and always "atta chicks" from fellow challengers. You can post your calories, points, carbs, fat grams, whatever you use to track your way of life. Or you can just stop an say hello. We hope you join us and check in often!

Happy June to everyone, whether or not you'd like to join the challenge.

Marie

So I figured out how to close the first half 2012 thread. Took a bit to find it as I'd never done it but had been given instructions. So here we go... Continuing on our journey.

Gayle, I love how your flower power motivator is helping keep you on course. I bet you are so excited you found a way to take back control. And unless you ate a whole box of instant potatoes, I bet it wasn’t too bad yesterday.

Am2, I love this group too. We’ve had a couple chickies come and go but we seem to have a good stride here. Great job staying on track. I was good all week and am off track this morning. But the day isn’t over and its possible to be good.

Mary, I know what it is like to eat around my munchies with nothing satisfying the want that I can’t identify. Just stick with your carb and cal goal and eventually you’ll figure out what tastes best.

I was at 1550 cals yesterday and that was with a SBUX light frap. It was wonderful. Today, as mentioned above is a bit on the naughty side. And I have fresh bread baking in the bread machine. It smells like heaven so that could be problematic.

Woot! Nice new thread! Thanks, Marie!

I'm working this weekend as well as the coming week and for 99 percent of what I do that means these days staying shut up in my office at home as I work in the field way less than in my previous occupation, so now have officially bagged work for today and need to go shopping.

Had lovely walk in park for exercise this morning, last I will have for awhile with my friend who is returning to her job and her schedule precludes morning park sessions lol. I also jogged 10 minutes.

Not sure if I put in yesterday's exercise in the last thread but I did some, always do.

Calories yesterday were 1710, will be reasonable today also as Am2 (me) SO wants to have a loss or at least a maintain this week. Noting the sound of Scale Angel wings 'round 'n about my neighborhood and hope they join moi for the weigh in and I will give them virtual angel food cake or whatever they like for brunch!

Heading out for food and sugar free popsicles. It is hot here! But it always is lol.

Breakfast:
Slim-fast shake
3/4 (or bit more) of a fresh peach

Morning snack:
My PB2 Mocha

Lunch
Tuna sandwich
Several baby carrots

PM Snack
My PB2 Mocha

Dinner
Chicken Noodle Soup (Healthy Choice but I added a little salt)
5 crackers

Eve Snack (will eat abt 8:30)
1/2 lg apple
2 T PB2

If I manage to keep it at that...I will have 1105 calories and 10 carb serv. Since I have one more carb serv left and plenty calories it is possible I will "spend" it on something but hopefully not because I like these numbers!

ETA: dh came home with dougnuts...so I had one doughnut in place of the peanut butter. Now my calories are 1240 and my carbs almost 12.

Hello all,

Week 1

Week 2 :1/2::1/2:

Week 3 (/):1/2:

At a loss as to what to give myself today, so I gave myself the shruggy thing. I didn't exactly fail at my challenge to myself, but I would rather choose other things. I am having to eat stuff right now (because of the dental work) that I don't have to chew too much, but can just swallow. Got one of those little single serving size cups of mashed potatoes ~ less sodium than what I had yesterday, and won't be tempted to eat too much, because the portion is controlled. And some pudding cups. I sure will be glad when Tuesday gets here and I can get in to the dentist and get this tooth/crown adjusted and be able to get back to my salads.

I discovered something ~ that after a tread is closed you can no longer go back and edit a post. That is how I had been getting my flower thingies each day ~ instead of trying to type it all out by hand, I would click on the edit thing and copy and paste then just add on for that day. Always something to learn

I'll join in this morning. I am new....haven't even finished my first week. I am down a few pounds, but I expected that the first week, I'd lose a few. Very happy about it just the same. I am a wildlife rehabber and I have a new baby raccoon to take care of. I don't usually do raccoons, but my friend who does raccoons has about 50 babies, so figured I could give this one more attention.

I have bad knees and though I am on my feet and do a lot of walking around here, taking care of animals, etc., I need to do some other exercise. I am thinking about getting an exercise bike and some hand weights to start. If I get very motivated...join a gym.

Just about every yard sale I have been to in the past has had an exercise bike....seems people are always selling their exercise equipment. Now watch...now that I want one, I won't be able to find one.

Okay...just checking in to say hi....got to go finish taking care of my animals now. I have horses, donkeys, chickens, pigs, cats, dogs, fish, possums and now, a raccoon.

Byugal, hello! Congratulations on your pounds down.

Glynne, the shruggy thing is cute. Ye are doin' great! Woot!

Maryea, interesting reading thy menu. Good calorie count. Hope the donut was good!

As for Moi, I gained back the 2.8 that I had previously lost so basically I am maintaining that the past two weeks. My calories were high last week, as was exercise but it wasn't in the cards to have a loss, so okay with that. I will get 'em next week.

Had to delete my nice ticker thingie as it was causing computer problems. May get another soon.

Working today as have a lot to do before Tuesday night so just kinda doin' that and not gettin' too excited about anything. Not stressed, not intending to give up on the weight loss but a little discouraged, which will pass.

Exercise today was 30 min walk, 30 min run/walk (C25K, W2, D2)

sounds like you made good choices there.I like the SF snacks better than the shakes. They fill me up better and I like both choc, and peanut butter things best.No BP shakes. If anyone made healthy ones I'll be trying them for sure

Huzzah to Mrslosingit and Maryea!

I am up early to exercise as my work deadlines are today and tomorrow and it is going to be an extra pressured week the whole seven days anyway. Feeling very focus and will not give up exercise before working, always.

Calories yesterday were a good 1675. My new little challenge is never to go higher than the 1600s other than planned high days.

This is Day 202 of my backward count to my December 30 goal date. I deleted my blog as it keep getting "stuck" in the computer lol.

Woot! This is going to be my most focused "diet" day ever.

1569 cal. 13 carb serv
A little high
Kids were here and we made cookies but I only had one so thats a NSV for me. But I had 1 1/2 grilled cheese sand. Made too many and didn't even think not to eat it. Then tonight I made hamburgers and there were more calories in the ground beef than I expected per MFP. Not sure if right. At least I did go to the gym today. ETA: Looked the ground beef nutrition up and looks like it's right. :-(

Default time to get serious .... again

I am going to join with you - I am back after a hiatus and having trouble keeping my eating under control. I am restarting with my fitday tomorrow and will also post what I manage to do.

Hello to redjb7, we live in the same state, love thy avatar.

Maryea: Huzzah, great work on the one cookie only NSV! Woot!

I am still on a deadline this morning and then hope to be FREE to go do some power shopping. Feel quite focused and don't want to drag the work project out into the afternoon BUT had a real NSV in NOT sitting down in my office and working until I had exercised. If I don't do my exercise first it is in danger of not getting done.

Going to post my streak log here today to motivate me a little further:

TUESDAY, June 12, 2012, Day 261 of streakity streak of no day missed of daily exercise, 30 min weights, 30 min run/walk (C25K, W2,D3), 15 min walk, total streakity streak minutes so far 19,865 (Previous: 288 consecutive days of exercise, 18000 exercise minutes!)

Calorie level perfect for two days, have warned the Demon Scale that it better behave come Sunday or can be replaced! Woot!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Am2, "the sound of Scale Angel wings 'round 'n about my neighborhood and hope they join moi for the weigh in" How perfect is that. The sound of Scale would flit about moi if my scale wasn't so dusty that I won't get near it. Sounds like my scale got mixed up with your scale. Good luck with that deadline then do the WOOT dance after your project is done, done, done.

Gayle, sorry about closing the post before you got your flower power. I tend to save info (like the ticker in years past) in notepad so that I can copy and paste.

Welcome BYU!!! I had an exercise bike that I gave to my daughter who is going to give it back so I can give it to my friend. It's a high end one but was recumbant - therefore irritated my lower back. I now use my bike on a bike fluid trainer (google those if you have a bike as they are awesome). Mostly I use my elliptical. I love my elliptical. My treadmill is ok. Basically, I have sold exercise equipment in the past because it wasn't just right. The elliptical is so perfect and I am so happy to have it in my home where I can exercise whenever I get the chance.

Hi MrsL.What are BP shakes?

Mary, you're just cruising in the good cal and carb range. You're becoming my hero. Even your "off" day wasn't bad. It was quite good.

Welcome redjb7. I bet you will manage to do great.

Sorry I've been missing a few days. The weekend was great and lazy in some ways (all but the 20 mile bike ride). Food was not on my mind as it was in my mouth and not in LoseIt. I could go back and add what I ate as I do remember but what is done is done. I was not
I was not . I was

Today I have logged what I've eaten and what I've done. I think I need to make a concentrated effort to not get behind here even though work is drowning me. So I will make that promise.

Marie

PS I had Cheese-Its this morning at work. My 100 cal snack box from Costco has 100 cal packs of Cheese-Its. Hence I had 100 cals of them and had to stop. That was awesome.

Hello all,

I have missed a couple days. Too tired one night, not enough time the next night (got out of work a couple hours late).

So, Sunday

Week 1

Week 2 :1/2::1/2:

Week 3 (/):1/2:

And Monday

Week 1

Week 2 :1/2::1/2:

Week 3 (/):1/2:

Week 4

And today

Week 1

Week 2 :1/2::1/2:

Week 3 (/):1/2:

Week 4

I was able to get in to the dentist today and have her smooth out the rough spots on my temporary crown ~ so it is not hurting my tongue like it was. So, hopefully now, I will be able to get back to eating better. I tried not to do too badly, then I just got tired of applesauce and yogurt and mashed potatoes. My stupid head games gave in and I ate stuff that I was trying to stay away from on my personal challenge.
