My weight has been pretty stable up and down a few pounds though on the higher end. Today it was down a little. I went over 63 calories yesterday and over by 2 carb servings, so bs was high this am so guess it was still better than I've been doing. We ate lunch out too.

Rie - I have done the lettuce thing a couple times but sometimes I forget. But last night I only had one snack so thats ok. I think the only reason I went over yesterday was because my lunch was too heavy.

Lucinda - I noticed this problem when I was on Medifast. But remember too that when you eat less, you go less.

maryea-Nice to see you posting again.

Marie-I hope Kai is feeling all better today and you enjoyed the hike.

lucinda-How about prunes? They are really good.

rie-Good job as usual.

Todays cals-1745. Exercise was 60 minutes of strength training at the Y. I just added this second strength training class since the beginning of the year. This new instructor is killer! I am in so much pain. I am sure I will be all better by Sunday but in the meanwhile it is Advil for me.

Hello All!

It is 9pm and it is the first time that I have stopped and taken a little "me" time all day. I have done well with eating all day and I did weight lifting and crunches this morning. (I loathe it but it makes me feel strong). Here is my food for today.

Breakfast: 1/2c fiber one with 1/2c almond breeze and flax, small apple with pb2
Lunch: wonderslim bar, salad with a little ranch
Supper: lean pork loin chop, roasted cauliflower, roasted water chestnuts, rissotto
Snack: chocolate yogurt pudding. 1/2c almond breeze with flax
1270 calories, 167 carbs, 63 fiber, 48oz water

Mary, nice to see you posting. It is hard to manage food when you eat out. I think you do great!

Marie, taking care of Kai was a reason for switching days. Your food looks good. I still hate the scale.

Tera, wow, that strength training must have been a killer! I prefer light weight and lots of reps, for now. I am still managing at least 100 varied crunches and lots of leg lifts. Advil it is....

Lucinda, my dr recommended Mirilax. It helped me more than anything. I still struggle. I sure never had that problem with cheeseburgers!

Off to read and relax. Tomorrow night I leave for Wyoming for a big pool tournament (Lucinda I laughed at your story about your kids hustling pool on vacations) It will be hard to manage my eating over the weekend but I will try.

Later! Rie

Mary, good to see you posting here. We like chatting with you. Eating out is always hard.

Tera, I do believe that being in pain after a workout is not a good thing. Advil shouldn’t be needed. Perhaps you should tone down the routine not matter what the instructor is doing??? Great job staying on track. Thinking about you and the weekend demons.

Rie, enjoy your weekend and without a doubt, taking care of Kai was worth switching the exercise schedule. And Tera, we all enjoyed the beautiful hike on a beautiful afternoon.

My cals yesterday were 1340 and today it looks like it will be 1382 unless I eat randomly before bed. As I have never, ever done evening munching I think I’m safe saying I’ll finish at 1382. I ellipticalled this morning and had a stress filled day at work. Does stress burn calories? I hope so because than maybe the evil scale will be nice.

Yesterdays cals were 2335 due to FAC. I am planning to only do this every other week so I will see how that works. Next week I will be visiting my daughter and she does not drink so I will be good. Today my middle son is moving out of our house to his own apartment. He was up packing until late at night and has not gotten out of bed yet. I do believe he is planning to start moving about 3 this afternoon. Good thing he does not own much.

Marie-I always modify workouts when necessary because my back is pretty sensitive and I am not fond of pain. However, this is a new instructor and I am not familiar with how my body will react to what she chooses to do. I am pretty much recovered today although my back is still a little bit stiff. I love this instructor though. She is very funny and is always showing more than one way to modify the exercises including stopping if you don't want to do it.The weekend demon is here and winning although I pretty much invited her here so I have no room to complain. Tonight we have plans to go out to dinner with another couple. It is so hard to keep my calories down when we go out but I will try. I will let you know later how I fare with this challenge.

Rie-Have a great time at the tournament!

Okay does it count that I had two SkinnyRitas instead of regular margaritas and I had Shrimp Tacos instead of beef tacos? I will not be discussing my issues with the basket of tortilla chips since I did not do anything well there.

This afternoon is a family party with the boys that includes prime rib, mashed potatoes and alcohol. At least we will skip dessert since all of us are watching our waistlines. Unfortunately we may be watching them expand after tonight! My husband might be a bit counterintuitive since he thinks prime rib and mashed potatoes is a good healthy choice but he means well and we all love prime rib. We are celebrating our middle sons new independence. I have tried to plan it so I can stay under 2000 calories. I will limit the potatoes to a couple tablespoons and I may get the food scale out for the prime rib.

Tera at your son’s late start in moving out and that it is good he doesn’t own much. I admire that your are choosing every other week for your FAC and that will help tremendously. And please let your DH know that prime rib (the fattiest beef) and mashed potatoes (fatty with butter and milk) are NOT healthy. Good luck with the waistline watching. I’m guessing your DH’s will expand.

The scale was nice this morning. Shocked me since I wasn’t expecting it. Yesterday it had finally returned to pre-TOM weight so this morning nearly had me falling over. I got to move my ticker a pound and we’re back to wanting another .2 pound to go away to move it to 9 pound loss. But heck, changing it to the 8 pound loss was Yesterday I finished the day at 1380 cals and that was after my DGD’s b-day party. Since they had food I was allergic to, I came home and had my nightly bowl of ice cream (ice milk in actuality). That made me happy.

Off to walk the doggies. Yesterday the hike was hard because my quads are tired. When my asthma is problematic (as it has been the last 6 days) my major muscles get fatigued quickly. I’m going to use my inhaler before I go so I don’t feel like finding a rock along the path and passing out.

Marie-That stinks about the asthma. Is it the cold? Glad the inhaler helps. Congrats on the additional pound. You are doing wonderful.

All I want to admit about dinner was that it was great. This whole week is going to be trying with Valentines Day and then the trip to see our daughter at the end of the week. I am just going to try to keep the damage to a minimum.

Well, I haven't posted for a while. I was doing great, then I got sick, and I am up a couple of pounds. I know it is water retention, because when I don't drink a lot of water I retain a lot of fluid. When I am sick I know I don't drink enough. When I put my shoes on this morning for work they were TIGHT.

I am drinking lots of water today, but my green tea at work is empty and I didn't bring more in, so I will have to get more for tomorrow. I am sure I should be back down by the end of the week.

Here is hoping for an awesome week at weight loss for us all.

Today's cals-1580. Exercise-60 minutes of step class at the Y. My husband made vegetable soup from the prime rib yesterday. It is so yummy. I had to guess the calories but even if it was higher I think I am still okay for the day. Now there is tomorrow to get through. I was at the store tonight and there were so many holiday goodies for sale. What a tough holiday for sugar addicts like myself! Thankfully my husband knows not to buy me anything to eat!

slim n up-Congrats for posting! I see you are close to your first goal. It sounds like you are moving in the right direction.

My weight been staying at the high end of my recent range. I admit I've been way overeating at night. So far today I'm ok on calories and carbs but only have 60 calories to go and praying I'll get through the rest of night. I'm not sure but I feel so deprived if I'm not eating all the time in the evening. It's like poor me I never get to have fun...fun, really? Eating too much and making my stomach stick out is fun? LOL I have these strange conversations with myself..

I didn't get to the gym today. Hopefully will get there tomorrow.

Here's what I've had today..
breakfast - 1/2 c cottage cheese, 1 1/2 pecans and 1/2 apple.
am snack - pb mocha (1/2 cup NF milk, 1 T pb and 1 oz frappe mix)
lunch - 4 mini vegetable quiche, and 1/2 banana
pm snack/dinner - 1 cup veg beef soup but I left 1/2 c broth (getting sick of this soup I think!), and 9 saltine crackers, snack size Almond Joy bar. (Edited to add the candy as I forgot it...so I'm actually OVER by 31 cal)
dinner - 1 cup steamed broccoli and another pb mocha

Hello Challenge friends!

I didn't play well at at the tourney but I sure enjoyed the time with friends from Wyoming. My food intake wasn't terrible, given the circumstances but it wasn't good. I came home up serious weight and was discouraged. However, this morning I am back and my ticker is accurate. Yay!

Yesterday:

Breakfast: 1/2c fiber one, 1/2 almond milk, small apple, pb2
Lunch: english cucumber, wonderslim shake in almond milk
Supper: one crispy fish fillet, steak fries, green beans, 2 white Zin
Snack: Evening fiber, dannon yogurt

1165 cals, 178 carbs, 49 fiber, 40 oz water.

Yay Marie on the loss!

Tera, again, life happens

Mary, at least you are posting... It will help. You did well yesterday

Well, off to work!

Wilma, drink up and flush the water weight away. As Tera mentioned, you are so close to your 1st goal. Great job.

Tera, yes today is a candy holiday. They are always tough. I think the visit to your daughter will be tougher.

Mary, I absolutely love the food you had to edit your post for. I love almond joys.

Rie, like Wilma, just drink a lot of water and the weekend gain will go. I know when I travel (car, train, or plane) I retain a lot of water no matter if I drink a lot of water.

After the cycles with pain, the pain is sadly now more intense (not as much as with the cycle) mid cycle. But that will stop as my new GYN diagnosed the problem and I will be having a hysterectomy on March 6th. So only one more cycle to endure. I definitely can do that. On the flip side, the immediate menopause scares me as I know it slows down one's metabolism. Not sure how mine can get slower but I guess it will. That's a big downside. But eradicating the pain is worth even a hundred calories given up.

My cals have been in the 1450 range and today should be in the same. DH and I went to Applebee's for lunch because otherwise we wouldn't see each other on heart day. I saw the picture of the chicken penne that I love and threw my cals out the window. Until I saw the cals listed on the menu and I was not giving up 1460 cals for one meal. No way, no how. So I went back to the WW menu and had a sirloin for 310 cals and a naked potato. Lo-cal lunch and I feel victorious. I wish all menus had cals like they do in California. I would have ordered the penne and been so depressed once I looked the cals up online. Being listed there made me just say no way. Pretty cool.

Went to the gym...bike 28 min on 7 and treadmill 15 min on 3.2 (no incline this time), and three weight machines for my usual two sets of 12 reps each. So far my calories are ok, but my carbs are a bit high. Had too many mochas today. I should really cut them back to one a day I guess.

ETA: Ended up at 1568 calories which is not bad but my carbs were high. I did have a NSV tonight! There were two pieces of pizza left and I put both in the fridge...normally I would have eaten at least one of them.

maryea-Good for you for showing restraint around leftover pizza. WooHoo. I actually freeze leftover pizza for another day.

Rie-Glad you had a good time on your trip and the scale was forgiving. Way to go.

Marie-I hear you about high cal restaurant dishes. I can no longer have my favorite hamburger and fries or fried chicken salads now that I know what it costs me in terms of calories. Too high a price to pay for momentary pleasure. Sorry about the pain again. It is good they can do something for you. Hopefully the menopause thing won't be too big a problem for you. I am nearing menopause and you see how much I eat.

Total cals yesterday 1945. No exercise. Had a great time as usual.
