  • Todays cals-1835 Exercise-60 minutes strength training at the Y. Todays calories were kind of high but it included an avocado and 2 slices of leftover pizza. I bought too many avocados last weekend and ate three this week so I am probably set for awhile. They are so yummy. I am not going to feel bad about the pizza though because I rarely have it and I ate half of it last week and saved half for this week. I would have much preferred to eat the whole thing at once!

Marie-How nice of you to plan a nice party for your husband for his big day. I am with you on the introvert thing, I much prefer a small get together. However, on special occasions such a this one, you cannot leave people out. Good for you.
  • Tera, LOL at wanting to eat the whole pizza at once. I can relate to that. So you did well doling it out over a week. How did FAC go???? Did you stay away from the sesame sticks?

I saw a new number on the scale today. OK, I saw it last Friday after the colonoscopy prep, but that did not count. I am .2 pounds away from getting to the halfway mark of losing the gain. Maybe tomorrow I'll see the extra .2 tomorrow and then I'll be at 10 pounds. If not, I'm thinking probably not until post surgery by a couple weeks. So here's hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow. I haven't logged any calories today but I will. I know I'm a bit under so I'm not worried. And I did elliptical this morning.
    Marie
  • Yesterdays FAC was the same as usual-lots of pretzel sticks this time which I ate directly from the package and did not measure even though I promised myself not to do that. I have a problem. Well, I can always take it on again next week. Yesterday was simply one big huge calorie day-I went out to eat for both lunch and dinner-mexican and cajun. I only had a salad for dinner with grilled shrimp so it was not too bad but lunch alone was probably 1000 calories. I love mexican. Anyway, I am feeling strong today so hopefully when we go out tonight for a celebration dinner for the engagement I will behave like an adult and keep my indulgent nature in check.

Marie-I took your advice and sorta exercised today. It was only a walk with my husband but we were out for an hour so it was decent. BTW, we had these huge storms come through here yesterday and everything was hunky dory in our neighborhood but one neighborhood over it was a mess of downed trees! I am glad our trees stayed intact. Congrats on the pending "1/2 there" goal. WooHoo! Nice to be making progress isn't it?
  • Marie - I want to give you some encouraging words about the upcoming surgery....I lost 15 lbs with each of my surgeries! First of all, when I did get food after surgery it was jello and chicken broth, and then when I could eat regular food I could only manage a little bit or I would get nausea. The first 15 lbs stayed off pretty good, but this second 15 lbs is bouncing up and down.

Hope it goes well and you have a speedy recovery!
  • yesterday I walked 5 miles. I only had half my usual amount of non-dairy sweetened creamer in my afternoon cup of coffee, I consumed 1000 calories. And when I got an overwhelming urge to slurge I drank seltzer with calories free caramel syrup. Thank you Walden farms for creating that crazy yummy concoction.
  • Carol Sue, I do like the idea of losing weight because of the surgery. Sadly, I eat when I don't feel well and mine isn't a stomach surgery. Yours, you had no choice but to eat wisely. I'm not wise when not feeling well. But I will try my darnedest to follow your example because it would be so nice to have a reward for this big change (of course eradication of the monthly pain should be enough reward but I want more )

Tera, on Friday I expect you to measure out your pretzel sticks or sesame sticks and stick with it. Just one FAC of doing that. Then the next FAC you can go overboard if you want.

Lucinda, seltzer and caramel flavor? Is that really good? I'm always though of seltzer with a citrus mix.

Yesterday's birthday party for DH was a calorie overload. I know I didn't eat 1.5 pounds worth of calories (I went over by about 600 cals) but that scale is lucky it wasn't smashed to smithereens this morning. Today I think I'll not worry about calories too much because tomorrow is fasting day before surgery and then surgery day is a bust. So I'm going to enjoy today and make up the calories the next two days.
    Marie
  • Marie-Sounds like a nice party. You should be proud of a mere 600 calorie overage. Good for you. I hope you took a little advantage of your fasting day and had a treat or two today. It will be nice to take care of that horrible pain issue once and for all. Thanks for the encouragement and hints to handling FAC. I am listening even if I misbehave.

Todays cals-1790. I watched the public television program on the 3 steps to healthy living tonight. They were eat more micronutrients, wean yourself off food addictions and eat more superfoods (green veggies, onions, mushrooms, beans and berries and seeds). It was pretty interesting. I am always trying to work on healthy eating and my husband I have made significant improvements but we still have a long ways to go. I work with a raw food vegan so she is always modeling some of the newer healthy ways of eating but it is quite different from what I am used to doing.
  • Tera, the party was nice and the cake was almost worth it. Thankfully DH brought it to work on Sunday and his co-workers ate most of it. He brought some home and froze individual pieces. I had an allergic reaction to the Fiesta Cheese dipping stuff and had to take benadryl. I think when the tightening throat happened after the cake, it was that the benadryl was wearing off but it sure made it so I didn't want any more cake. I don't know if the bakery had peanuts or soy nearby for cross contamination but the cake isn't desirable anymore.

    Sunday's cals: 1941
Today's cals: 1027 (liquid diet for surgery prep) so that's why the weekend was a bit higher. Tomorrow sounds like liquid after the surgery so probably a deficit there as well.
And today was my last elliptical day for 6 weeks. Surgeon said no way before 6 weeks. He explained the reasoning and it made sense but I hate the idea of not exercising. I will be looney tunes.
    Marie
  • Todays cals-1680. Exercise-60 mins strength training at the Y. Rather than just counting calories, I would like to eat more nutritious food. I haven't figured out what kind of goal I could set except to eat more fruits and vegetables and less packaged groceries. Today I had a banana, an orange and carrots and celery sticks instead of chips.

Marie-I hope your surgery went well and you are on the mend. I wouldn't worry about the exercise thing. Six weeks is a short time in the big picture. You will be able to ramp things back up quickly when you have sufficiently recovered. Best part, no more lost time for exercise due to pain. WooHoo!
  • 1536 calories and 13 carb serv (1 over). I was disappointed when I saw the one over on carbs because I thought I'd done so well, but the thing is tonight I was only thinking of calories, forgot to watch my carbs. I really should do the opposite if I can only think if one.
  • how is Marie? healing I hope?!
Yesterday I stayed with in 1000 calories. today is the fast of Esther. it is only from sun up to sundown, unlike Yom Kippor which is a 26 hour fast.
So I woke up early and ate half an avocado, salad with nooch and bragg liquid amino. To me it is tasty!
  • lucinda-Good job watching the calories. Hope your fast goes well.

maryea-So how are things going? Your calories look great when you post. Is one carb over significant? R u still exercising? I am glad you still show up here now and then. I hope things are moving in the right direction for you but in any case, it is good you keep working on it.

Todays cals-1640. Exercise-60 mins of step class at the Y. I had lots of fruits and veggies today-for breakfast I had a green shake with spinach, strawberries, an orange and a banana and at dinner I had homemade soup with leeks, carrots, celery and mushrooms and also a salad with lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, carrots, cucumber and red pepper. Lunch included veggies but they were in a fried egg roll and drenched in teriyaki sauce so I don't really count them as part of my attempt to eat more nutritious and healthy food.
  • Hi all, sounds like you all are doing great on your eating. I can say the same but I'm bloated beyond belief. Thank goodness I lost nearly 10 pounds before the surgery or even my yoga pants wouldn't fit. Heck they barely did fit. I'm on the road to recovery but it is mighty painful. There's a full description of where I'm at on the GG thread. I can say yesterday was 450 cals and maybe 500 cals so far today. But from what I can tell, ice cream is a liquid and fits the liquid diet requirement. So the number will go up.
    Marie
  • 1552 calories and almost 12 carb servings, so pretty good today. I also biked 15 min at 5, walked 15 min at 3.5 and did 2 sets of 12 reps on 3 weight machines.

Marie - Glad the surgeries over ...and I know you still hurt but it will be over in time. After my surgeries I always ate as much of the ice cream as I could get! Those little cups of vanilla (in the hospital) were SO good to me! Ice cream always tastes good to me no matter how sick or in pain I am, unfortunately!

Ter - You asked about the carbs and bs. It depends. The main thing is I have to spread them out and not have too many at one time/meal. I try to never have more than 3 at a meal as my bs will go up if I do. But sometimes it surprises me and doesn't...getting protein with carbs and eating whole grains can slow it (the rise) down at least. You continue to do well.
  • Not a bad day but I did go one over in carbs again. I get to focusing on calories and forget carbs. For the most part they go pretty well together but necessarily. It is easy to be one off. I have also been forgetting to take my bs last few days so hope I can get back on track with that.

My calories today were 1508 and my carb servings were 13. A NSV...tonight I had a enough calories for one regular mocha but not a pb one. But I forgot and made a pb one. I can't believe I did this (you have to know how much I LOVE my pb mochas!!) but I actually measured out half and poured the rest down the sink! When I figured up my calories I realized I could have had a bit more of it but it's gone. Still I'm glad I did it because it shows I can control myself if I really want to.

LOL I really should change my sig...that was when I first started to regain after MF. I am now 165 lbs!! But i have dropped .6# the last two days and I'm really trying.
