KarenMO, I hope you can get Mike closer to home! I know that would ease your worry considerably! Poor baby!
So, how about DWTS? I was so sad that Romeo was sent home. I thought he was just the cutest thing! I voted for him regularly, because of those dimples! I wanted Ralph to go home so he could rest that leg! And Kirstie is amazing! She vies with my Granny/Mom for sheer stubborn willpower! I think this season has been really, really, really good!
We had rain all night and, calm thyselves!, it might snow tonight and into tomorrow! I'm so excited! It'll be all water, which we need so much!!
Got the hairs trimmed yesterday! I have at least 4 big celebratory things through the month, then June is back on track again! I'm not doing badly. I'm just not doing.
Good Morning GG's Wow, I don't check in for a day a miss alot of stuff. I'm not much good at the personal replies, but do read each post and laugh or cry with you all. So I offer congratulations for the triumphs, and hugs for the sorrows, and wish you all a great day!
ps - it really sucks to be really good and OP in the face of amazing temptation and to not have the scale move down at all ( but it is better than having it move up I guess )
A very BLAH day here, so far. Little accomplished, and not expecting to get much accomplished. Some days, it’s like that, I guess. Dh is up in Rochester, NY doing a little work (can you believe it?) and won’t be home until prolly @ 10:00 tonight. Soooooo, a *ME* evening….long, luxurious bath, hair conditioning, mani, pedi (self-administered, but nice all the same) and a good book.
So, I finally got all my winter clothes off to the cleaners and emptied out my bags of summer clothes onto the bed in the guest bedroom. It’s piled to the ceiling in there. And, most of you know that I generally sleep in there due to dh’s snoring. BUT, since I did that massive switchover on the weekend, and haven’t managed to get things all steamed and hung as of yet, I’ve been back sleeping in the bed with dh. THAT bed has a super-luxury pillow-top mattress that we bought about four years or so ago, and because I so rarely sleep in there now, I had forgotten that it kills my back! I have a very firm mattress on the guest bed, and always sleep well in there and wake up feeling fine. But I got up this morning with my back aching like you wouldn’t believe – and a LOT of motivation to get that bed cleared off ASAP! I’ve taken 6 ibuprophen so far, with no relief in sight! So I suppose that before I do all that pampering tonight, I’d better make it my business to get that bed cleared.
It’s a wet, gray day today, too…..nothing like a little dampness to amplify the aches and pains…!
On a more positive note, I am still OP with my eating. (I can do this!) Tea, put that – the scale not moving, I mean – into the BTDTGTTS category for me: “Been there, done that, got the T-shirt”. That’s why I started using something like the Wendie plan and going up & down with my calories from one day to the next. It seems to keep the metabolism moving a little more efficiently than just a steady low-calorie diet does. PT, I don’t watch DWTS, but I really like Kirstie Alley. All her struggles with weight – despite the fact that she’s a whole lot wealthier than most of us – makes her feel like “one of the chicks”. So, I’ve got to say that I did watch a short videoclip on AOL of her dancing, and felt like cheering her on… Lynn, that’s GREAT news from your doctor! SO glad for you! Ahem…YOU without anything scheduled for the day? This isn’t April 1st, sweetie….you’re a little late with your April Fools jokes! (No WAY you have nothing planned! )
Glad some of you could help Freda with the song information – I know I couldn’t. Dh & I joke about how we know the first line of every song ever written (up to about 1980, that is) but no other words, and definitely no info about who wrote or sang it! (Oh, except in a few cases – James Taylor, Paul Simon, the Doors…)
Snow on the way in Montana & Colorado? OMG!
Pretty bedspread, Mary. I’m looking for one for the master bedroom to brighten things up for summer. I’ll need new curtains, too….and throw pillows, sheets….I really would like to change the color scheme in there. Luckily the walls are kind of an ivory color, which I picked precisely in order to be able to change colors without re-painting.
Hope your face has calmed down some today, K3. It’ll all be worth it in the end! Hope we’re going to see some updated pictures! Karen31, I’m keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed about your getting your son someplace closer to you! I know that will make it a little better for all concerned.
Okay, I know I haven’t included everybody, but really must run right now. Have a good day, my Golden chickies! Z
Good morning everyone!! Maybe afternoon for some of you. We just returned from the gym and I'm eating my snack and resting as I type this. My snack this am is 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1 1/2 t. slivered almonds and 1/4 of a huge apple. I can't believe I finally can eat enjoy fruit in my cottage cheese! I know most people seem to eat it with fruit but it wasn't the way I grew up eating it. Just recently for some reason it finally tastes good to me. Never too late to learn new things I guess.
Jess - I don't really watch that dance show...just take a peek now and then when dh is watching, but last time I saw her she didn't look that small still. She's a beautiful woman and it is too bad she has spent so much of her life struggling with her weight. She is probably working out so hard now that she may need more calories. Doesn't sound good that she is passing out.
Zoe - Sorry about your pain. I've always had chronic pain (even as a child) so know about pain for sure. This morning on the stationery bike my legs were so tired and achy, switched to treadmill and I felt much better. GFY staying on plan no matter what. That's what I'm really trying to do now. And I can tell it's paying off with the scale (a tiny bit at a time) but not my bs yet. Think I may have to accept the other med the doctor's been hinting at.
Lynn - I'm like you, I have a lot on my to-do list! Hope you have a productive day and I think I'd better get to mine too.
Morning everyone.. very sunny but cold here. we went grocery shopping yesterday, always an experience with the dh in tow . hes planning a trip to the cabin friday so will have some me time. last nite i had an i dont give a &*()#$$ moment and ate a few things i shouldnt. my rumbly grumpy tummy let me know right away it was wrong, sigh.why do we sabotage ours selves like that. Great news Lynn,if i had a day free i'd be playing . and i was not happy they sent austin home . i dont watch dwts but do watch survivor, idol, greys, and private practice.Zoe sry your back is sore ican relate to that.Karen 31 glad your son is better.Karen 3 hows the face today? Jess sometimes a song will stick in my head and i sing or humm it all day and i cant sing a doodely darn and get funny looks from dh who has abeautiful voice lol.Mary looks nice i love to change things around. Tea granny keep trucking the scale will move.If i miss anyone i apologize, its not intentional just my senior brain malfunctioning. stay strong everyone, dont be tempted by the evil foods hope your day is great rosey
hi all....Thanks for asking. My face is still a mess. Have swelling and blisters along my jawline and deep blotches all over. Actual my jowls are hanging down to the girls. Ugly is the word. But it doesn't hurt today until I lean on my hand or lay on my side and a cheek touch the pilllow. No there will not be a picture. I called off bridge and hide when people came to the door. Probably should register as a an offending sight. Wear a monitor so when I go outside a siren warns small children. It was almost this bad the 1st time and after 4 days i look okay. So hoping by Sunday i will be human again. It is still Wednesday ain't it?
Lynn...am sticking pins in a doll hoping they get rid of Boston Rob tonight. Have always hated manipulative men. He has turned those young brainless twits into the type dependant women I also detest. The editing makes them all look like 1960's brainless teenyboppers.
Have a question....When you were growing up (around13) did your parents give you a special piece of jewerly. I was given a ring with a small ruby set in red/yellow gold comet swirl. And told that I was now old enough to be responsible for nice things. Yes, I still have it and am wearing it right now. I mentioned that Monday and my bridge partner hooted....never heard of something like that....kinda hurt my feelings. Later in highschool we got pearls. That was when everyone always wore pearls. World sure was different way back then.
I'll be back for personals....k3
ps reading The Land of the Painted Caves...half thru and bored!
Hi everyone..just popped in too see who has posted..Karen 31 your poor face sounds so sore i had to laugh about your book as ive been reading the same series..im reading The Shelters of Stone now and ive enjoyed them so far altho they are abit racy ahhmmm i have a moose pot roast in the crock pot and it smells devine..i guess im feeling hungry..dh is going to his cabin in the morning and i made extra for him to take..hes feeling some better, all his tests came back normal.they changed one med that was irratating his kidneys, and now think the pain is caused by the hardwear in his back from his surg.its made scar tissue thats pinching a nerve..something he needs to live with..im greatful it wasnt anything more serious. good tv tonight, idol and survivor. im a creature of habit. (((hugs))) rosey
Rosey, moose pot roast sounds devine. A friend of mine got a moose a couple years ago and shared. I really liked it. I also like elk. But, I seem to have lost my taste for deer and antelope. Too gamey. I hope that you enjoy your weekend to yourself. Do something nice for Rosey, ok?
Karen, I will hold off on buying you that siren. In a couple days your face will get better. I sure hope that it feels better soon. Yes, it was tradition in my family to give young teens jewelry. I am wearing a "star" saphire" ring that my folks gave me when I was 16. One of the joys of losing some weight is that I could wear it again. I was also given a pearl bracelet that belonged to my great grandmother. I am sure that it isn't worth much, but I treasure it. I hope that my wrist shrinks enough so I can wear it again.
Zoe, enjoy your mani pedi. Although it is fun to go to a salon, I really enjoy caring for myself like that. Maybe it is the ritual..... I have some lovely jasmine bath salts to take on my trip. I plan to enjoy a lovely soak with a glass of wine and a single dark chocolate truffle that I will purchase at the chocolate shop. Heaven!
TeaGranny, I loved your post. Like you, I sometimes don't have the ability to do personals. Glad that you are here.
Lynn, really, that is great that you have a day without extensive plans.
I know that I have missed some. Sorry.
Well I stopped and weighed in today. I only weigh one time per month. I am happy to report that I am down another 6 pounds this month. That puts me at 62 pounds down. I am pretty happy Gotta keep working out
I will be away from here for a little more than a week. Tomorrow morning I will get on the plane to attend the Billiard Congress of America National championships. I am attending a school there to become a certified referee. I am pretty excited. I might check in here again later or in the morning if I have time. But, if not, think of me at the BlackJack tables and send any extra luck my way!
Hey GGs,
You know, this just sounds wrong, but it makes me feel lots better knowing I’m not the only one thinking mean, evil thoughts (However, KarenFL, your idea for revenge makes me cringe - owwwww! And, she’s much younger & stronger than me, so how am I going to get her fingers in that door?!). Ok, I’m not REALLY thinking about doing anything like that. She’s been very nice today, & now she’s gone out for the evening to spend time with her friends. Yay! And, yes, she is planning on getting a summer job (& always has before). Yay! again! And Bobbi, I still think you’re a saint for putting up with your MIL. That thought just shows you’re human.
Glad you’re feeling better today, KarenFL. Sounds like you were in an awful lot of pain! Your comments about your ring reminded me of a sorta sad thing. When I was about 6 yrs. old, my maternal grandfather sent me & my sister each a cultured pearl ring from Okinawa, where he was working. Well, Mom put them up to keep until we got older, & they “disappeared”. I sort of wonder if they got sold, though they couldn’t have been worth much, because Mom & Dad were very young (had 3 kids before they were 20 yrs. old), & they were always broke. Oh well. And, I have lots of “things” that were my grandmother’s & great-grandmother’s, & that are older than me. I’m awfully sentimental about my things, & would never part with them. I think it’s wonderful you still have that ring (& I think your “friend” was jealous!).
Zoe, hope your backache is gone, & that you’re enjoying your “me” time. Your comments, & Mary’s, about your beds, have got me worried. I’ve really been considering buying a new bed (I’ve never had a brand-new one before, just used). How will I know before I buy it, if I‘ll like it?! I’d hate to spend what, to us, is a lot of money, & then still have an uncomfortable bed! Any thoughts?
Donna, glad to hear you’re getting some precipitation. I think you’re the only one here who gets excited about rain & snow (well, maybe KarenFL about rain)! You know, I tried watching DWTS, because I really like Kirstie (I agree Zoe, she does sort of feel like one of us. I watched the first 2 shows, & DVR’d the rest, but I just really don’t care about watching much TV anymore (& I used to watch it all the time!). So, after watching a few bits, mostly of Kirstie dancing, I just had SO delete them. And Mary, my SO ended up watching way more of the DWTS shows than me - I didn’t really think men liked them.
KarenMO, hope your plans to move your DS closer work out. I know that will be easier on you. And, we all know what a little fast food does to the scale, & that it’s only temporary!
Rie, congrats on that 6 pounds lost! That’s a lot. Yaay! for you. Hope you have a really good, & safe, trip.
Lynn, I’m really glad about your good news from the doctor. Yay! Now if you can just get more good news about the kitties’ eyes! I hope they’re not suffering too much.
Maureen, don’t let that mean old scale get you down! Just stay strong, & you know eventually it will cooperate!
Rosey, sorry those evil foods got you! Glad your DH doesn’t have anything seriously wrong, but it’s really too bad he has to live with that pain. Hope you get to enjoy your “me” time.
Yikes! Once again, stayed too long, & it’s almost too late for my snack (notice I said ALMOST). Gotta go! NCNancy
Three days down ~ one to go. Off tomorrow. I live for those days off
It was raining this morning, so I didn't go out and walk. I have a poncho I could use, now need to find a shoe that doesn't matter if I get it wet, and I could walk even if it is raining. I think only though if it is raining gently ~ don't think I would do it if it is pouring.
I shouldn't have stepped on the scale the last couple days. Disappointed ~ because I have been walking, but the scale creeped up. I haven't exactly eaten quite as I should, but I haven't been horrible either. Oh well. I have to kind of laugh at myself ~ I am not a lover of exercise, so when I do do it, my mind is thinking that that effort surely must have caused some weight loss (even if I have made the effort for only a few days ~ like that should magically make a bunch of weight fall off ~ LOL).
Well, I'd better get off and do some more getting ready. Hope you all have a great day.
Kitties update - vets agree that I should try a different antibiotic (doxycycline) for both cats for 2 weeks. We'll see. When I had the UTI, I had to do a second dose with a different antibiotic to get rid of my problem. Maybe it will work.
Woke up about 4 this morning to thunder and lightening. Rain pouring down on the awning on my bedroom window. It rained for about 3 hours but seems to have stopped. For now. Yesterday I went to the kids games and it was really nice out, warn and sunny. I am so hoping it continues. Nothing much going on today. I do want to get a much needed hair cut and color. My hair is longer than it's been in a long time. Just lack of time and ambition!
Gayle, I like walking in the rain, if it's not bad. I just take my umbrella and go. I do have shoes made of rubber so my feet don't get wet, but I want to buy a pair of those cute rubber boots that are very much in style now. They make such cute ones. And the fileds are so wet in the spring and fall that I would be wearing them a lot.
Nancy, hang in there. If you and you house guest make a real effort it will work out. Not easy though, when you're used to having the space to yourself.
Lynn, Great new for you! Not so great for the kitties, but I hope that the new medication works. My doggie still has eye and ear problems from time to time. I think it's just a problem with this breed and we have to work with it.
Rie, Congratulations on the weight loss. That is awsome!!! and break a leg in Vegas!
Rosie, glad to hear that Dh's problem isn't serious, but, ya know, constant pain is pretty serious! From someone who knows, it gets to you after awhile. I hope he handles it ok.
Karen, Sorry to hear that you are still having pain from the treatment. I hope that it resolves soon.
TeaGranny, Yes, it surely is annoying to be doing everything right and not see the scale move! But you know that it will, so just hang in there. And try to remind yourself that every day that you eat right and exercise, you're getting healthier!
Z, I hope your back is feeling better! It's hard to get through the day when you're in pain. And hard not to get really short with people who you would ordinarially look over. Or it is for me. I get a little BI-----! OH, and whiney. I know you probably handle it better than me.
Donna, We've got a little girl on my DGS's soccer team that is such a strong little thing. The boys try to push her abound and find out really fast that she pushes back. We were admiring her last night! Love strong, gutsy girls!
Mary, I think it's good to mix up the exercise too. Bike one day, treadmill the next, walk outside. uses different muscles and keeps it fresh.
Good Morning! Well, my Wii scales weren't very nice to me this morning. But I haven't been giving it the attention that it needs this week so guess it is getting even! LOL!! I did move it down to my "woman cave" YAY! but it is on a hard surface now instead of the carpet that is upstairs. But it showed me at 162.3 so I did change my ticker to show that since it will be on the hard surface all the time now. Don't think I really gained 3 pounds over the last week but I haven't been as good about the exercise or the eating lately. FOCUS KAREN!!
Zoe, sorry about your back hurting. I am so glad that I talked DH to getting rid of the old waterbed we had and get a REAL bed!! Not only did I not sleep good on the waterbed, it was so hard to lean over so low to make it. It only set up like 15" off the floor!! And I couldn't find waterbed sheets anymore so I used flat sheets that had to be tucked in all the way around!! My back hurt so bad after making it!!
Well, I am going to go and get my workout in now.. So HAPPY that I have everything downstairs now and it will be so much cooler to workout!
