Hi
GGs!
This chicky has returned to the fold after a brutally hot long weekend (got in last night at @ 6:00) up in the not-so-white Mountains of New Hampshire. In fact, there’s been so much rain throughout New England over the past month or more that everything is growing like crazy – all the wild stuff, that is. Domestic crops have been significantly delayed because of all the rain. So, I was hoping for a sunny weekend, and we got that for the most part, but along with sun came some really icky humidity – too hot and humid, in fact, to do too much (VERY lethargic barbecuing took place) and definitely too hot to spend much time in the sun developing a nice healthy glow. I was outside mostly to pack and unpack the car (Whew) and just to walk on the mostly shaded woods paths. And with just that little exposure, I had a few layers of reddish-brown when I got home – along with a few truly charming mosquito bites. Oh, joy! Fun, though.

Ate a bit more than I should’ve, and like you,
Lynn, had a gripey stomach as a result. I won’t weigh myself until I get back from my beach trip two weeks from today. Maybe not even then, if I’m feeling puffy and know I overindulged (which as of right now, I’m not planning to do).
VERY clever storage ideas,
Gayle! That’s really attractive! Maybe someday I’ll develop enough motivation to do something like that myself. Maybe after I retire. Ha ha about that encounter with your son-in-law!!! Sounds like something
I’d do…!
Freda, unfortunately, I can’t visualize myself EVER being at a place with my weight where I can eat plenty of brownies – or any other goodies –
later. And I’m sooooo bad at limiting quantities! I’m getting slightly (just slightly) better about not bingeing, though…doing a little better with the tasting, and if it’s not absolutely and utterly yummy, don’t go beyond that first bite. You’ve mentioned that once or twice in the past as a technique that you use, and I’ve always thought it made perfect sense. Why spend up a kazillion calories and fat grams and such on something you don’t even find all that enjoyable? So, I’m working on making that change in behavior, and am making some progress. Thanks for planting that in my head! Oh, and
Rie….yes…you set a good example of that, as well. ONE miniature Reese’s peanut butter cup???? Now THAT’S self-discipline in action, alright! Wow. I LOVE those things, so there would be no question of stopping at the first bite with me. (Am wondering how many bites you managed to stretch out of one little miniature – or did you savor the whole thing at once? Oooooh. Yummy.)
Mary, grandkiddos wear us all out, I’m sure. I know that one afternoon or evening with those twinnies of ours leaves me longing for a nice 10-hour sleep, which is something that I almost never, ever get. I’m actually walking around like a zombie today – nothing to do with grandkids, just not enough sleep over the weekend in general. But I agree with you about keeping it at shorter visits; at our ages, none of us is equipped to do long-term kid visits. Even when they’re not on the go, they take up every minute of your time with questions and needs and help with one thing or another (Our little guys like visiting our “music corner” and finding themselves guitars or drums or flutes or chimes or shakers…if it makes noise, we’re likely to have it…and we have to join their marching bands…whew!)
Rosey, that bear sounds like something I’d feel okay about never, ever seeing! Yikes! Your granddaughter’s shoes are cute as a button, and so is she. Such a pretty smile!
So glad you enjoyed the family reunion,
PT.
Hmmm,
Bobbi….sometimes we just have to ignore the doctors and do what makes sense to us. I’m glad the neck brace seems to be giving you some relief.
Nancy, I WISH your trick of cleaning up the kitchen before you allow yourself to eat any more would work for me – but then I’d have to clean the kitchen, and that’s dh’s job at the present time. Maybe I could find something to incorporate into my dinnertime routine though, that didn’t include taking on the cleaning up chores…maybe I’ll try taking my bath and THEN, if I want more to eat, will have it. I don’t know, though – that sounds suspiciously like an evening snack, which is something I definitely DON’T need.

I’m really glad that you’ve cut back on your water intake,
Nancy. I hope that ends the swelling problems. I hope you had a nice Memorial Day weekend.
Karens 3 & 31, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend and that all are safe, sound and accounted for.
