Awesome job Jahjah!

as for me - I jump on the scale daily, and I found out today that I made it to my first goal! 10% weigh loss! My offical weigh in isn't until Monday, so this is motivation to not break down and eat all the christmas chocolates that people have been giving me!

I owe three things! Yeesh! My memory isn't so great about what happened on what specific day, so I'll just give three generic positive things rather than assigning one positive thing per day, lol.

#1: I had a doctor's appointment a couple days ago, and my doctor was so happy to see that I'd lost so much weight since the last time I saw her! I only recently started going to this doctor (that was the second time I'd seen her, ever), so we don't have a really close relationship yet, but halfway through the appt. she looked at my file and seemed to realize "Wow, you've lost quite a bit of weight since your last appointment, haven't you? That's great!" and she mentioned later that she had thought I looked a lot thinner. It's funny, too, because I feel like at my last appt. with her, she had been talking to me a lot about my weight and giving suggestions for things I could do to get it under control, but at this one she didn't say anything about needing to lose weight. Which, of course, I still do need to do (ha), but it was nice to think that I could be more like a "normal" patient who she doesn't feel like she needs to nag about that! OH, and my blood pressure was 120/63, which is pretty good! I haven't gotten the results of my bloodwork yet, but I'm really hoping my cholesterol and all that will be good, too.

#2: So, I'm home for Winter break right now, and I am from THE MOST BORING CITY EVER. Consequently, a lot of times when my friends and I have nothing to do (which is very, very often), one of the first few things that someone will suggest is to go and hang out at the local Applebee's for half-off appetizers, LOL. Well, basically, that happened--and I am very proud to say that I did not eat a single thing from stupid ol' Applebee's this time! I had already had my three squares for the day, and I briefly considered getting one of the WW things, but I was like, No, I really don't want anything, so why order something just to "fit in"? As if any of my friends would actually care! Ha. I was proud of that, though... I just sipped water while my friends had drinks and appetizers, and it was all good.

#3: I AM ALMOST DONE WITH MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING. If you knew me at all, you would know that this is huge for me, because I'm terrible at getting things like that done. And I was especially worried this year, because every year I go to a gift exchange with some high school friends, and it's one of those deals where everyone gets a gift for everyone, and it's so stressful--these are people who I was once really close with, but sometimes feel like I don't know as well anymore, so I'm always sooo paranoid that I'll get them things they don't like (and it doesn't help that I always love the things they get for me!). But I went on a massive shopping spree at Kohl's with my mom and my sister, and in just a matter of a couple hours, I took care of almost everyone on my list--and I got them totally cute/great stuff that I really think they'll all like! Yea!!! OH, and the BEST part is that we saved a huuuge amount of money on our stuff. Even though everything was crazy on-sale, all the stuff from me, my mom, and my sister came to about $87... But my mom had a thing for 20% off, I had a gift card with ~$25 left on it, and my sister had $10 of "Kohl's cash," so we ended only paying about $35!! WOO-HOO! Savin' mavens!

Wow, I had forgotten how much I freakin' love this thread. It really is boosting my mood a lot!

I think it's a positive step that I've started to speak freely about my plans to lose weight. I told one friend yesterday and one friend today. I tend to keep things a secret so no one can catch me failing, but that leaves me with no support!

I made what I suspected would be dubbed a "cop-out" dinner (grilled chicken pitas and some baked potato wedges) and DH got so excited he wants it again tomorrow night.

so that's positive, I guess.

Two of my girl friends came over to exchange christmas presents. One brought mini cupcakes, and I didn't even eat one! I didn't even want one! When I left the girls told me that they want me to teach them my will power in the new year!

That's awesome! Vacations are usually a killer. Jet lag, lack of sleep, loss of inhibition, lack of a kitchen!!!!
