I think my rate of loss is pretty good, but to get to where I want I'll need to lose about 1.5 lbs a week until Thanksgiving Day. I can do it, I just need to beware slip ups (my TOM is around the corner = munchies).
Hi guys, I hope everyone's weigh in goes well today! I had a really bad weekend. My family and I went on vacation and I didn't follow my diet at all. fast food, pizza etc so I am going to skip this weeks weigh in and avoid a bad number. I'm working to catch up so hopefully next week I will be back on track with the weight loss.
I'm down 2 pounds since last week to 157.8. A little annoyed since I was 157 even a few days ago, but anniversary celebrations caused a gain. 2.8 to go to make T-day goal, I think I can handle that.

I was down 2.2 for the week to 206.0 - just 7 lbs to my goal for this challenge (or really 6.2 because I'll take Onederland by .2 if I have to! lol!) Still working on getting there by Halloween though, rather than Thanksgiving.
Missed two weeks of posting. I had a kidney removed in the hospital on 9/25/11 and was discharged on 9/30/11. My weigh in on 10/6/11 was 6 lbs down from my last weigh in on 9/22/11. I do not think the removed kidney weighed 6 lbs because it was very small and had atrophied. I am feeling good now and recovering at home.
Thanksgiving goal weight is 184 pounds

I think part of the hardest part of being in a plateau is it feels more like a Stall. I hear myself saying RIDICULOUS things to myself like "well, that's it. That's as far as you get to lose. you're destined to be 250lbs no matter how much you work out and how little you eat."
Seriously - when did I learn how to 1: Reason like that and 2: Speak to myself in that tone of voice. My first plateau was between weeks 2 and 4.5 - I had just started working out and walking and doing all this physical activity. I knew I was losing inches, but the weight just wouldn't come. Then, about week 5 I started to drop rather quickly and steadily.
About 2.5 or 3 weeks ago I started going to the gym. I've been doing 30 - 40 minutes on the elliptical with intervals of high speed alternating with low speeds (I don't get off of it until I've burned 400 calories... however long that takes). Followed by 30 minutes of swiming laps in the pool. Now that's a boost in some physical activity. My brain KNOWS I'm building muscle. HECK my BUTT knows - it's totally sore from yesterday's workout!
My logical brain tells me that this is the perfect reason for a plateau. But MAN it feels like a stall. I'm down .6 this week, which is still a small loss, but it feels like working awful hard. Especially when I'm logging under 1500 calories a day.
I know my body will find it's zen and I'll start losing steadily again. But it really is these times that make this journey frustrating.
Larry - Hope you heal quickly! Stay Healthy, friend!
April - you're kickin butt, girlie!
Love2b- Don't give up! Even if you don't make your goal, you'll narrow the gap considerably!
Lianna - Great Loss!
Everyone else - it's not Thanksgiving, but I'm Thankful for this group for the motivation and the support.
-Kiki

i can relate 100% to all of this! (i removed all the rest for space reasons)... i just upped my time on the elliptical from 30 minutes to 45 minutes, and from resistance 3 to resistance 5, on a regular basis (and an hour on mondays!). i had to make the change because after 30 mins i was barely out of breath and couldn't hardly feel any 'burn'... so i assumed i wasn't getting a proper workout? (hello hidden NSV). my calories generally stay in the 1600-1700 range, and i'm stuck right around 250 as well.
only i've been stuck here since july... moving around within the same 5 pounds (247 - 252). i'm assuming my scale is stuck because of all the water my butt is retaining because that's where i'm sore!
i *really* feel your pain and i'm determined to get through this! though, i think my 'determined to get through this' has turned into "get through these food laden months without gaining" and get going with renewed vigor in january because every week there's 2-3 events with so much food it hurts my eyes!

Hi, everyone. Just a quick note tonight. Mandy and Kiki - you guys have such great attitudes and insight into what is happening that I'm sure you'll break the stall very soon. April and Larry will soon be in Onederland! How fantastic is that? Rennie - I got stuck for a while in the 170's. I know you'll be dropping out of them soon enough. Everyone else seems to be doing well, too. Keep up the great work!
I'm holding steady, I think, and have decided to try weighing just once a month - on the first Wednesday. I'm trying not to stress too much about this - it is a real change for me. If my jeans feel the least bit tight, I'll be hopping back on and taking back control. We'll have to see how this goes - October will be the experimental month.

I posted a .2 gain from 2 weeks ago. but due to my TOM, I know some of this is bloating etc. I always have a weight fluctuation associated with it. so, its a gain, but i can accept it.
