Hi everyone! I have been reading this thread from the beginning of the month and have a question. I see a lot of fast food and frozen meals, how are you all getting your fruits and veggies in for the day?

So far today...

No breakfast - busy morning, didn't have time

Lunch - grilled cheese, tomatoe soup w/ crackers = 9 pts.
(it's *real* ingrediants for this since I skipped out on breakfast, I wanted a few extra points ahead )

Hello ladies. Hope everyone is having a good day. Alantra, good question on the fruits and veggies. I can only answer for myself, but here it goes....

Being that this is a life change and not a diet for me, I am trying to do things close to how I did them before. Don't get me wrong. I have made some huge changes, but fruits and veggies are not one of them. I still eat the same amount of fruits and veggies as before. We ALWAYS have a veggie with dinner. And I don't count potatoes or corn as a veggie. We also normally have salad. It does not take much salad to equal a serving. I don't always post this. On some of my heavy work out days, I don't add in any activity points but have a fruit smoothie made at home for "free." I also take a vitamin now and never did before. There are also veggies in a lot of the frozen meals and I can pile several veggies on a sub from Subway. Hope that helps. I know I could use some more fruits and veggies but feel I do okay.

Today

breakfast
oatmeal 3pts

lunch
grilled cheese 3pts
100 cal cheetos 2pts

No work out today. I subbed at my son's preschool. It was fun. A great opportunity. Will check in after weigh in tonight. ---Amy

I think everyone has their own way of dieting, whether it's following the ww guidelines exactly, or doing it in their own modified way. I know most days I try for 3-5 fruits/veggies but some days I only accomplish 1-2. I think if what you're doing, is working, why change a good thing? As with every diet, you'll have to make adjustments here or there, when your body gets "used" to a certain way of living, and for some, only a couple fruits/veggies at first is a big step as they didn't eat them before at all.

On a personal note, my mom doesn't eat anything except dinner. She drinks pop all day long, and eats a small dinner and that's it. She doesn't understand why she's gained weight. I have tried for years to explain to her, that her body is holding onto everything she's eating at dinner, cuz it's starving. She joined Curves w/me 2 weeks ago, and eats 2 bananas in the morning, a pb&j for lunch and then dinner and switched to diet pop, she's down 5lbs in 2 weeks. She still eats her unhealthy butter, some foods fried, etc...but she's making adjustments, small ones at first and it's paying off. It just takes time, and everyone is different. It's just like exercise, I see some on here busting butt, working out w/trainers and I sometimes feel like I should do more than Curves, but...it works for me. I enjoy it, and I'll stick to it. We all know what we need, at the time...we all know sometimes we have to change it up some..whether it's adding more exercise, or adding more fruits/veggies or even water.

Wow, I'm long winded sometimes

I get in plenty of fruits and veggies, but then I also go over on my points most days. Like yesterday - at 4pm with 22 points things were looking good. Then I had bean salad, couscous and chips during my night class. I got home and had chicken noodle soup, veggie soup, and some of dd's cereal and 1/4 of ds's pbj.

Today - start over again
so far
cereal - 3
latte - 5
skipped lunch
ice cream (skinny cow) - 5
2 chocolates - 3
16 points so far today. I am going to eat veggie soup right when I get home, so Iam not starving while cooking dinner.

Good evening. I am sitting at the computer doing darn transcribing again. This is killing me. I am thinking about quitting and starting back up again next year when both kids are in school ALL DAY. I just can't fit it in. I am up late every night. And I am so tired. Trying to fight off a cold too.

Well weigh in was tonight. I lost a pound!! I am very happy with that. Thought I might just maintain. I have 16 to go to goal. I am so getting excited.

I made a roast with carrots ( there's my veggie ) and potatoes. Did not have a salad 'cause DH doesn't like to make them when I'm not home. He sure will eat one when I make it though. At least he is doing the dishes tonight while I work. I didn't count points for dinner and I ate until I was stuffed. Enough said there.

Talk to you tomorrow. ---Amy

Hello everybody! Fit by Forty, do you think it is more difficult because you are so close to goal? I am playing heck staying on program knowing I have 16more pounds to go. So close yet so far away. I keep saying that. Saw the article in People at the gym today about Tyra Banks. She weighs 161 pounds. Granted she's 5'10" but she looks GREAT!! Makes me really want to shoot for the 160s. I would love to lose my 1.8 this week and get into the 160s. That would be tough though. We'll see.

as for food......

breakfast
oatmeal 3pts

workout with trainer and bit on treadmill

snack
banana and blueberry smoothie at home 4pts.

lunch
6oz canned chicken 3pts
on ak-mak crackers 2pts.

Dinner
I am going out with a girlfriend. I will splurge a bit but within reason. Still have Super Bowl Sunday to get through.

I had WI today, and was up 3/4lb. That's ok, considering it's TOM. I took a good hard look at my weigh in folder today, and see that I've been w/in the same 4lbs since August 9th. Back and forth between 201-197. I was once 194, but went back up. I'm hoping I'm back on track now since my re-join on Jan. 3rd. It's starting to wear on me.

Jennifer, I too sat and evaluated my card at my meeting last night. I was doing the same thing. Back and forth between 173 and 176 for months and months. Sad thing is I kept on going to the meetings. At least you saved some money. Anyway, important thing is that we have re-committed to the program and to make it to our goal. We are both headed in the right direction. Just think, if we didn't start this where would we be???? Try on an old pair of pants or something.

I needed a little kick this afternoon. I tried on a pair of capris I bought back in November. They are white and fit tight when I bought them. Anyway, they are a 14 and will be too big come this spring. I am going to stop buying clothes that I intend to fit into later. I am wasting money. I am already wearing some 12's, and want to be a 10 at the biggest come spring. Anyway, keep at it. You will get there.

buffalosister1,
I have been even closer to goal, last June I was down to 154.I immediately went crazy with food and went back up again. When I look back at my book I see that for more than a year I have been gaining and losing the same 5or so pounds.I wish I knew why I do it then maybe I could stop.I go weigh in tomorrow for the first time in more than a month.I will have to pay I know that maybe going back will inspire me to smarten up.

I am stressed, and need to vent...hopefully you girls don't mind
Today, at 8am I get a call from my husband. My son isn't listening at home, he's not getting his coat and shoes on, he's not brushing his teeth...he goes on and on, how our son doesn't listen in the morning and he can't deal with it anymore. His solution? Put our son in latch key in the morning. Now mind you, I leave at 7:45am, my husband only has to "deal" with this, until 8am..I get our son dressed, breakfast and most mornings, his teeth brushed. Our son is 9, and yes he should be more responsible in the am, but he's ADHD and the mornings are our hardest. I don't feel, that I should get calls like this, right as my day starts...so of course, my day is shot...I'm in tears, popping xanax just to make it through and then I worry all day, that my son went to school sad cuz his dad was so upset.
After school they stop at my work, everything seemed great. Then I call home around 4pm...Austin is crying, saying dad is yelling at him cuz he's doing his homework wrong, etc. I've tried repeatedly to tell them, to leave homework for me...I'll do it w/him. I understand my husband is stressed, he works 70 hours a week, and w/me working he's only getting about 6 hours/sleep nightly. I seriously think he needs help, I think he needs to speak to someone and possibly go on something to help him deal with life. I don't understand why I am on pills, to deal with him! Granted, I got this Rx about 2 months ago, and have only taken 5 total...but still, it's not fair.
Part of me, wants him to go live at his parents while they're in Florida, just to see what life would be like seperated. As much as I do love him, I hate him just the same.
Alittle background, I was raised knowing my dad was #1 to my mom. That was an awful feeling growing up. My son is #1 to me, and my reasoning...my husband is an adult and could survive w/out me. My son couldn't.
About 5 yrs ago I filed for divorce. I had my first job since our son was born, and i just felt like if I was doing everything anyhow, why not do it alone, MY way and be happy. After spending all of our savings on a lawyer, and letting it sit for about 1-2 months...I gave in and cancelled the divorce. Things have been fine since...well, almost. I went back to school 2 yrs ago, and love my job...however, we need me to work. I cannot, at this point afford not to...but how can I work, and be happy...knowing, the mornigns and afternoons that they are together, are **** for my son? I'm just so stressed out, and don't know where to go with all this....He's not the dad I envisioned. He's not the same guy I married, well....he kinda is I guess. He's a very negative person, always sees the glass half empty. His job is having ups and downs and we don't know where things will go, if he'll even have a job in 6 months. It's been like this for years though, one gets tired of the "what ifs" Today he came home telling me everyone is on 8 hours, no weekends. But he isn't. he should be happy, he should be thankful...but no, he's already miserable for the "what if".
How can one live like that? What if? I enjoy life, you never know how much time you have here, why be a jerk while you are.

so sorry, I just needed to type this and figured this was the best place to go.

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time AJsMommy.I wish I could give you the answers but I suffered through a terrible marriage myself. Now that I have a good life I think the way to go is to leave and start over. That isn't always the amswer for everyone. It is a hard choice to have to make,to start over.I think you and your husband should see a councillor,it would be a neutral place to try to sort through your troubles. In the end you have to do what is right for you and your son.

After my long-winded "vent"..I never posted my daily food:

B: latte 3pts
S: bran muffins 3pts
L: Campbells soup at hand 1pt, banana 2pts, dove choc 1pt
S: 100 cal pack 2pt
D: Smart Ones dinner 5pts
WW ice cream 2pts
That's only 19 pts out of 25. Had a hellacious day, wasn't hungry, went to bed early.
According to my scale, am down 2lbs. Go figure.

Not sure what for lunch yet tho.. I know Dh wants to get chinese for dinner tonight and I haven't had it in a while, so I may reward myself but measure it all out so I can have it a few times and not use any extra points.
