Thanks, o' Friday for acknowledging Arizona's gas woes ... it's true, we haven't gotten a mention! Nobody loves us!! Nobody cares!!

But anyhow, I had no trouble getting gas in one of the towns where I work, so that was good. And there's been a waiver granted so that our area can use conventional gas (as opposed to a special environmentally sound blend), of which there's lots! And Kinder Morgan swears they're working on that pipleline! So we're all jolly again!

Default Postcard from ****

At least it's hot enough to be Hades! Geez, QOD...I HATE SUMMER!!! Especially when the lights go out and everyone is on conservation alert, which means reduced/no air conditioning in 40 degree Celsius heat with windows that don't open to even catch the breeze, hot or not. I've been working 12 hours a day all week, 7am - 7pm, in my office with the lights out to keep it cooler. Just me, in the dark, working by the glow of a computer screen, mopping my brow... And THEN....

DH was working in our Orillia office (about 2 hours north) today, fixing some system problems. Our GM informs me that my husband would be spending the night in Orillia because the work took longer than anticipated. So I'm ALONE here tonight, and I don't like being ALONE here at night in a ground floor apartment. I'll be up half the night, and I'm exhausted NOW after working 12 hours today. My landlady told me to pull the fire alarm that is in the hall outside my apartment door if anything goes wrong. She said she'd rather have a false alarm than have me in here frightened. I'm sure it will be fine, and the guard cats have secured the perimeter for me.

Amarantha, glad the gas woes are lifted, at least for now! We take such things for granted these days.

Punkin, gosh it must make you uneasy having fires that close. Aren't you glad you got those trees trimmed last year?

Eydie, 5 pounds??? AND conquered a challenging weekend!

Frogger, you're doing marvelously, darling! Keep it up, you'll be in Onederland soon!

Arabella, the Bay of Fundy is such a spectacular place! Your weekend sounds great!

Cerise, I work in one of those ridiculous places where the managers show up at 5:30am and don't leave until after 6pm....and expect everyone else to do the same! We don't officially start work until 8:30am, but if you show up after 7:30, you get THE FROWN. We're on salary, so they can ask us to put in some overtime, but they were talking every evening and all weekend for the next three months! I just told them, look, you need me....if you want me, pay me for it! They didn't have much choice in the matter. And look at you go.....uphill, no less!! Your outfit sounds comfie AND cool!

to all....I hope to catch up this weekend....very tired right now... Going to sleep while I can.

Talking Keeping this one short, 'cause yesterday's was LOOOONG.

Hey, sweetums.

Uh, Wildfire, your job sounds SO FUN. Yeah. I'm gonna go over there and be your full time nurse/housekeeper/cook/spa monitor, because you've GOT to take care of you right now! I'm going to send you some extra hours in the day to sleep and take nice baths and cook good food. You're like, right, cook food. Riiiiight. And don't worry about tonight, darlin'. Cats are the best...watch-animals that ever exist. They smell intruders just as well as dogs. Here, take my lucky rolling pin...

OK, I'm just talking to Wildfire tonight, because the rest of you know if I get started... . I'm thinking about all of you and hoping for strength and peace for you. Here's a butterfly kiss... (OK, it's not a butterfly, just GO WITH IT)

Lovies,

Hello all!

Friday certainly makes so much seem so much better doesnt it??

Empress- I have been watching the news just to catch a word or two and still....nothing... Just goes to prove an old theory of mine-about rather than " all the news fit to print"- "what most of our viewers would sit and watch"-- so rather than alert us to a possible problem in our parts of the world, etc, etc, the news is choosing to ignore it .

Wildfire-- Yes, I 'm sending a couple hours of soothing music your way to make things a tiny bit more bearable. I know our Canadian correspondents were not open till yesterday, is this still a result of the black out?? And yes, sorry, remind me again what you do?? Sorry, I thought you worked in a big library -- I don't know why I'm so confused.

Punkin- WHAT PROGRESS!! YOU ARE DOING IT NOW!! I need to ride in your draft too!

I promise to catch up w/ everyone soon, need to get out the door
myself....

Empress, I did see one story on the national news about your gas problem. Don't remember network, time of day. Nice enough story but DAYS after you told us. Only that one but then I have not been watching much TV.

Ceara's our librarian, I think, Kaylets. Blowing breezes your way, Wildfire.

Will someone please put in some exercise for me. Mine's been nil.

Mom passed away yesterday. Funeral Monday. So I'm sure I'll be AWOL for a while. But checking in with my Royals is my "be nice to me" thing for the day.

Lightbulb Friday

Sorry to hear of your loss Anagram. We never recover from the loss of a parent...I've still got both of mine, but have close friends who don't and I've watched them. You just miss them.
Anyway, am thinking of you and sending good, strengthening thoughts your way.

Wink Friday Ketchup

Well the events of August 14th certainly knocked the normalcy out of my life and a lot of others. Had the AC off until yesterday as per the Premier's request, but put it on early in a.m. when I found out the Casino was to be opened...what kind of essential service is that!???

Yes I'd be the librarian, and since my library system has not been open since the 16th, again conforming to the Premier's request...we are saving power with no computers, lights, and AC I suppose, I've been home. However, the upside is that I've read a lot of books...was too hot to move!!!!!

Internet server was down until Monday...so lost a lot of spam messages I suppose. Are you guys getting a lot of those....I don't have a filter although I do have a firewall and Norton...thank goodness. One day...Tues I think, there were 13 messages, 11 with viruses. ARGH!

QOD...I plan.

I see you all are doing well. Dollar, you've come so far! Frogger, you are movin'! Scorpions! Yuck. Yes gas is a problem....here too where in response to the blackout, they jacked up the prices....partly because no pumps were working...no power right? So they kinda had you by the shorties. However, I had enough fuel to take me to yesterday.

The novella looks intriguing...I like piercing blue eyes.

Read an interesting book...Tomorrow's Garden by Hudson I think...not what I usually read...like contemporary mysteries with humour, but it was well written and had some interesting plot twists!

I like Thanks for the kiss Cerise!

Gotta go water some plants...lots of thunder boomers last night but no rain.

Anagram, I'm so sorry you lost your mom. It's good that you got to spend so much time with her; she knew that she was loved and that's everything. We love you too.

Anagram, so sorry you are dealing with the loss of your mom right now. As Eydie says, she must have known she was loved and it was so great that you could spend that time with her as you and she readied yourselves for the next leg of the journey. And, yes, you are very special to all of us, so come back when you can!

Default Dearest Anagram...

You're in my every thought. I'll pray for clarity and strength, and a strong feeling that every good thing that was to be done with and for your mother was done. You've been a bright light in my life, seriously, and I wish for many bright lights in yours.

Sending you a whiff of lilac...

Anagram, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Please take good care of yourself.

I have missed being here. I wasn't feeling too well for a while (MS problems), but am feeling better now. I wish I could say that I lost weight, but I did not. I did stay the same at least, rather than gain, which is better than I thought it would be. I am back OP now too. Thanks again, Arabella, for checking on me. I appreciated that. I hope to be able to post more regularly, if not at least catch up on your posts so I know how everyone is doing. I really have missed all of you. Take care.

Hello,
Anagram - I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I am certain that she was very proud of you and glad that you could be there for her at the end.

Fly by post. Not eating very well. Not feeling very well. Actually I only went over by 147 calories yesterday, so it is not all that bad.

QOD - I ask.

Well, I'm late, but I'll say it anyway - IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!

It's raining and finally.... *finally* the smoke from the fires doesn't make me think of London fog.

Anagram, I literally spoke my sympathy out loud when reading your post this morning (I was taken a little by surprise by your news). I'm sorry for your loss and hope you take comfort in knowing your mom is now feeling wonderful and watching over your entire family. How blessed she was to live to see great-grandchildren too! You're in my heart and thoughts, take care of yourself.

Amarantha, the gas thing is getting crazy *everywhere*. Oregon's almost $2.00 a gallon now... wonder where our burst pipeline is to justify this???

Wildfire, hope you slept ok with DH gone. When I first moved in to my house it was the first time I'd stayed alone in a house for more than a day or two - it took a month for me to get a good night's sleep! Now I'm used to it, but still sleep pretty lightly. The cats playing with my Gladware woke me up last night...
I hope it gets cooler for you! Pretty soon we'll be complaining about snow!

Kaylets, yes Friday does make most things at least tolerable!

Ceara, I hope life returns to normal soon. I have clients in Troy, MI and they've said it's still messed up even though they've got power (having to boil water, etc.). I heard that after the blackout in '65 they said "it'll never happen again" - probably won't say that again!

WSW, you were missed! I hope you're feeling better soon. I found out my aunt has MS (stepfather's late brother's wife) a month ago and I thought of you. Good to see you back! Remember doing what you can is better than doing nothing at all. Your maintenance is a success!

Zadie, you're right 147 calories isn't that bad - run around the block a few times and it's a wash! Hope you're not coming down with something though... soup comin' righ up!

Q o' the day ~
How do I get something I really want? I'm annoyingly organized - I decide what I want, a few different ways of getting or achieving it, debate them with myself to find the best, most logical or most feasable choice, and create action steps (first I do "A", then "B", etc.). I told you, annoying - but hey, it got me through my house construction!
But I'm doing something like this right now - Punkin o' Friday is possibly going to diversify - I might start selling PartyLite.... We'll see, I'm 3/4 the way thinking I could do it! But as always before a final decision is made I need to wring, beat, and dissect every....freakin'....detail!

Toodles for now, enjoy the weekend!

Terri
