Hello,
I am a bit late today becuase I had to do some running arround for work. It was actually a nice change of pace.

I am doing okish with the eating n stuff.

Cerise, that is a beautiful way of looking at things. Your personifications sound spot on to me. It is kind of like people who can taste colors: you cannot see people on the board so you use the senses you have.

Soccer is a great idea. I have friends that play and they are now in great shape although they did not start out that way. Have you seen Bend it like Beckham?

I think frustration is par for the course becuase, when it comes right down to it, losing weight is not easy. It is just not. It is difficult and slow and frustrating and there will always be backward steps. But it is worthwhile. I guess that is one of the things that keeps me away from different diet programs: the idea that if you follow these steps you will lose the weight and it is simple. But it is not simple. So I go my own route and it will work if I can keep on track, but slowly.

AAt any rate, I must get back to work.

It's the amazing shrinking Bo-Beena! I'd give you high-fives but I can't reach... That'll have to do for now.

Zadie, funny you mention Bend It... I was thinking the same thing but was afraid no one would've heard of the movie!

Cerise, thank you, you've given me enough warm fuzzies to last through to next Spring. I'm sunshine?????? Wow.... I'm very touched to be perceived like that.

Toodles again, must away to my PartyLite plans for proliferation!

Yo! Cerise, I loved your last post and you should NOT be sorry about any opinions about WW (heaven knows, I'm always bashing it, except now I'm in love with it, so that's confusing, huh?) or Jenny Craig (don't start me on that either and don't even MENTION Richard to me) or any plan! I guess that's what I was trying to say yesterday, that a little incident brought home to me how wonderfully NICE it is for us on this thread to be able to discuss these things freely and no one seems to take offense (if they do, they hide it well!). There are so many aspects of this journey for us to consider ... I, for one, love hearing others discuss their programs and frankly I love being able to freely think out loud and come back with my own reaction to what was said ... because it is in the considering back and forth that we get new ideas for our own journeys. Sometimes we want to do one thing, sometimes another, some things work for some people, some things work for others, but in hearing what works for others, we might find ideas for ourselves.

Ok, having confused even myself with whatever I'm trying to say, I'll just say that ... I forget ... oh, actually I am not very tall, only 5'5" ... I think I will be aquiline at 135 pounds, though. Definitely no one messes with me!

As a matter of fact, I was looking for a paper today from one of the other towns I do and my publisher, who'd already found batteries in his car for my camera, listened to me talk about a story while he was trying to type and taped a note on his computer from me to the managing editor, got up and tried to find the paper I wanted and couldn't find a single copy and went outside in the alley, dumped a huge trash container in the street and found the issue, then pushed the container upright again and shut the top. I thanked him and he said, "That's all right, that's what I'm here for. Is there anything else I can do for you?" I detected just the SLIGHTEST tinge of irony there, but ignored it.

See, no one messes with me!

Rambling. Later!

Hello from the UK - can I just add a little controversy to the WW thing? Ah what the **** - please remember WW is now owned by the Heinz Group PLC and as such is only interested in profits.... Just take what is pertinent to yourself out of a meeting. The personnel are trained to "sell Heinz" as the ultimate package to weight loss.

Thank you

You're all cool

Amarantha, we HAVE to be related--maple donuts are my favorite too! Actually maple anything.

? of the day----I try to avoid asking the question, but when I do I want complete honesty, because sometimes I doubt what I see in the mirror.

Cerise, you WILL find the right way for you. I've been at this for over 5 years and finally feel like I'm figuring it out. I'm sure it won't take as long for you tho! "A grassy meadow"--I love it! Maybe with a few poppies thrown in, please?

WELCOME Yo-Yo Dee! Youve come to the right place---and very perceptive of you to notice our coolness. So true.....

Oh no, Cerise! I didn't want to make you cry! Just want you to know that you are important to us, and we accept you as you are and as you will be and everything in between. I didn't know you were Irish/Scottish! My family tree is completely plaid! Campbell/Robertson/MacDonald/MacGillivray/MacNeil/MacPherson...and on and on! Good thing the Campbells and the MacDonalds were over the feud by the time they hooked up! I do have a bit of an accent, but it's the Cape Breton accent, descended from the Scots/Irish of years and years ago, melded and mellowed over time.

Anagram, I was touched to hear you had a piper at your Mom's service. The pipes always make me teary, it's just part of our tradition. In Cape Breton when a piper plays at a funeral you are guaranteed to hear Dark Island and there isn't a dry eye in the place. Did I ever tell you girls I took bagpipe lessons as a kid? Never kept it up, though, and now wish I did.

I, too, hope that Arabella and her DH are enjoying the Bay of Fundy together. I rather fear that it wouldn't be Arabella hitchhiking home, but her DH being dunked in the Bay! That's some powerful water out there.

Frogger, congrats on EXCEEDING your Labor Day goal!!

BoBeena, congrats on 5lbs lost already!

Amarantha, I'm glad that you're enjoying the WW Flexpoints. And it is totally your perogative to do whatever plan you want whenever you want! Mixing it up keeps a fresh perspective and keeps you motivated....and when you're motivated, we're all motivated because you inspire and entertain us!

Eydie, have you ever experienced a Canadian Maple donut from Tim Horton's? Stay away from them if you haven't!!! It's like a Boston Cream donut except instead of chocolate on top it's maple. Heaven.

Hi Yo-Yo Dee! Are you going to stay for a while? We always like to have new people here. I didn't know WW is now owned by Heinz. Interesting.

Punkin, I'm in for the Hallowe'en Challenge. I've been toying with the idea of challenging myself to eating NO Hallowe'en candy. No mini chocolate bars, no Hallowe'en caramels, taffies, etc, etc. I think I can do it.

Hey, what are we going to be for this challenge?

to everyone!

Default Doh!

Ok, Wildfire, don't be tellin' us about any Canadian maple donuts with Boston creme pie inside ... uh, who's this Tim Horton guy anyway and where, please, can I find one o' these evil donuts? Sure and begorra, darlin', you can't be tellin' me these things when there's no Tim in Arizona a'tall a'tall and me sitting here without a donut to me name

Yo-Yo Dee, can you add a tad o' controversy? Here? Sure and begorra, lass! You're as welcome as the flowers in spring, er, the pumpkins o' autumn, darlin' ... and BTW, that's a good point yu have me dear re the good folks o' Heinz!!

We are rather cool; I'd have to agree.

Thumbs down Way Cool Losers

Wildfire, uh, I was crying in a GOOD way. As in a "they like me, they really like me!" kind of way. Don't worry. I like crying.

Yo-yo Dee, good on ya for sniffing out the man behind the curtain. You mean Heinz like the ketchup? Now there's a good diet food. I'm going on the ketchup diet...I can have all the ketchup I want and I go into reverse ketosis, and my blood sugar spikes and then if I can just keep insulin levels in a certain zone at precisely 3:24 pm every day, Sweatin' to the Oldies is No Problem. The thing is, you can only eat the special ketchup that the Ketchup Diet people make, and it's $12.99 a bottle. And I go through like 3 a day just to keep in the zone. Don't worry, though - it's low carb, high protein and is fortified with vitamins, minerals, and is totally vegetarian.

Whew. Don't EVER let me post on a Friday night.

I LOVE you all. I mean it. I have not been drinking.

P.S. I think we should be the Hallowe'en Fat Cats. Or skinny cats. Or the Black Cat Losers. Or the Fat Black Cat Hallowe'en Weight Loss Chicks. Or the Hallowe'en Jill-O-Lanterns. OK, I'm gone.

The ketchup diet? The catsup diet? Hmmm. Can I get fries with that?

What about the GORGEOUS GOBLINS? Or the GORGEOUS GOBLINS WITH HALLOWEEN GOALS?

G'night!

Smile OH MY!

Oh my, oh my....

And I thought it might be quiet around here because of the holiday!
Kewl! Very Kewl! Glad to see all the chatter.....

Glad to see a visitor from UK!! Hope you join us often YoYo Dee!
And yes, as soon as WW's became a real business, I'm afraid the bottom line became more important than anything else. BUT-- INMO, the plan is one of the healthiest out there. BUT- If something doenst work for me or doesnt make sense..... I don't follow it.
This marketing thing is a long standing peeve of mine and some of your are probably thinking-- oh dear, there she goes again-- but its so true-- the gyms hope we don't show up to use our membership so they wont' be crowded, the diet teas, pills, cremes, bubbles, spreads, etc... want us to keep coming back and buying more... the diet "bars" are full of sugar, hydrogenated fat, or ........ No fat products instead are filled with sugar..... fast food puts salads on their menus and offers "buy a salad, get your child a free Smiley meal" -- In other words, you arent smart enough to be concerned about your child's eating habits."
Soda pop companies campaign that bottled water is really not good for you... potatoes are evil......
And don't let me forget--- Gasoline prices must go high without logical explanation when a big travel holiday approaches!!

Any way, DH is wondering if I will ever say " Ready to go " so.....

I will return with a thought of the day as I havent even begun to reply on the other terrifc posts.

Take care!

Kaylets, I think you're right about the marketing thing, but I don't really mind it. I am a child of capitalism, I guess, and I don't mind people marketing their products. It's kind of a game ... they think I'm stupid and I let 'em think it! But some of those products (like WW) are useful to me and if I find them useful, I don't mind paying. I just take what I want from it and leave the rest alone.

I revamped and reposted the seven-day challenge thread to accomodate any and all mini challenges (the Empress hath retired to the Imperial Fitness Spa forever) ... mine for today is simply to stay on the program because I'm ready to binge, BUT I WON'T!

Later.

Hello all!

DH and I went for a ride into MD and stopped at few country auction/fleamarkets. But then it just got too humid/hot in the sun which made it miserable.

You're right Empress--it is nothing but a game but it infuriates me to see how many people don't realize it.
And how it even affects what the news outlets present to us-- how we hear more about the sports and entertainment "stars" scandals than we do about ...... the gas prices...!!

Thought of the day :

"When I look at the world, I'm pessimistic.
But when I look at people, I'm optimistic."
-- Carl Rodgers

Question of the day :

" Do you have a Labor Day tradition? "

does anyone still watch Jerry Lewis?

My Labor Day tradition is having to work. I'm happy to say that tradition is holding true this year as well!

I get tired of sports and entertainment "scandals" in lieu of news as well, Kaylets. Being a journalist by trade, I feel very irritated by what drek some of my very much more successful colleagues get paid to produce and spew forth.

But if that's what folks want, then that's what folks want.

Girls just wanna have fun, and so do boys, I guess.

I'm having fun with WW right now and the proof will be in the pudding, e.g., when I get on Demon Scale tomorrow.

It's not about what program you're on, but about how well you work the program. Any program works if you work it.

Not original, but I need a nap.

Hmmm. Up early to write (for money, yuck; er, well, money is not yuck but writing for it is) ... haven't weighed in yet but wanted to TALK about weight ... been focusing on this a lot lately because I AM GOING TO MAKE MY GOAL THIS YEAR! I've set out my little Halloween scarecrow and pumpkin in anticipation of the Halloween challenge and contacted the Hag o' the Hut in Scary Forest. She's looking so gorgeous these days she isn't all that scary but she wants to reach goal as much as I do.

Yesterday I was sitting in the Wally World parking lot watching people (I do this a lot, I'm afraid) and listening to public radio. There was a commentary on about a man who'd spent his life trying to lose weight but he never did. His latest adventure, told by his daughter, was with a woman referred to as the "Diet ****" who, apparently without any credentials except a large weight loss of her own, coached people on weight loss. She made them check in with her every day and told them what to eat and what to do for exercise. I guess she was very successful in this endeavor.

Then I went into the store and watched people some more. Most of them were overweight, but I saw one young woman who was thin to the point of emaciation. She did not appear to be a naturally skinny person, so I assumed she had either been ill or suffered from anorexia.

So many sides to this same coin.

There is no point to anything said on this post ... no ending to the story ... no conclusion drawn. Just wanted to say hello.
