Here's some more.
1. steal or borrow the driver's ed car form the school at least they have a break on the passenger side.
2. have an up to dat ins. policy.
3. have a wrecker service # on speed dail on your cell phone.
4. get to know all the local police offericers you never know when you might need them.
Good luck MG you are braver than I am. Hey on a lighter note I finally managed to loose about 3lbs. I was up sick all might not knowing when end it was goin to spew from, an awful weight losse method but it worked.
Twenty years of driving with BoxerBob and I still clutch the dashboard and brace my feet when I think he's too close to the car in front of us. I prefer to stay back at least three Brontosaurus lengths. (I sound like Wilma Flintstone!)
Gigglez - are they doing laparoscopic surgery? Wait a minute - this is Kentucky? You'll love the anesthesia - it's Jack Daniels! When I had mine done in June I did see my stomach flatten down some. I had an ovarian cyst about the size of a tennis ball and a couple comparable fibroids. I didn't know they were there, but they were a good excuse for a poochy tummy. LOL
Anyone want some snow? We are buried! The dogs disappear when they run through the back yard. I told BoxerBob I needed more exercise and he recommended shovelling. Ugh - outdoors? In the cold? I don't think so. LOL
Hi all. Yes Rusty they are doing laparaoscopic on me, mine is scheduled for the 6th of Feb., and believe me that if they handed me some Jack I porbally wouldn't mind in the least bit. I was given 3 choices by my ob to get rid of the pain of the endo. The first one he told me about I told him to keep it, I have went thru 3 months of hadies with these shots and no more, he then said that I could learn to deal with the pain and when it takes over your life it isn't the way to go so I told him to take it all out and the sooner the better. He told me that this would give me an 80% chance to get rid of the pain. Ok i guess that I ramble on too long about it. Rusty with all the snow that you have why not make you some snow creme it is a great treat. Yummy and I am pretty sure that it isn't too fattening. If you want to know how to make it let me know. I wish that we would have enough snow to make it. That is the one thing that I miss about the snow. Remind boxer BOB that it wouldn't hurt him to help you shovel maybe even put the shovel in his hand.
Gigglez - the lap was easy for me and I was in and out of the hospital in 23 hours. They took everything but one ovary. I also had endometriosis something painful in my twenties but my GYN at the time put me on the pill and it entirely controlled the pain and heavy periods. The surgeons cauterized all the endo while they were in there. I hope yours goes as well!
Do tell us about the snow cream - I think we'll have plenty of snow to work with. Just have to "watch out where the huskies go." LOL
PS BB uses the snowblower - so I think he was just pulling my (chubby) leg!
Ok snowcreme. Scoop as much snow as you want into a bowl, add a little milk, sugar and van flavor stir and eat. Sometimes I use powder drink mix instead of the van flavor. It doesn't matter if you use skim milk or not, but I love it. My ob plans to remove any more adheasons that might have formed after my first lap. The bad part is that there was some on the bladder and he wont to that, Rusty you were so lucky that the bc worked for you, I fail them and the lupron, so this is the last stop.. Let me know how you like the snow creme. Good evening all.
Gigglez I am sure your surgery is going to go great. Snow creme sounds interesting, no snow here though its a whopping 65 F, in NE, in January. And they say there is no global warming?
I am down to my pre-Christmas weight 201! WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Feeling stronger!
Diet Foods I am Giving a Chance
1. Raw Veggies NO DIPS!-Munch munch munch, kind of like chips and you get even more water down.
2. Banana Creme Yogurt it's so Yummy. 60 cals in a 1/2 cup and fat free!
3. Buying a shrimp ring as a special treat! Half a ring is a120 cals!
4. Using more spices in everything!
Miss Chris - that works for me. We bought a couple shrimp rings and munched on them while watching movies over the holidays. Shrimp is SO LOW in calories! And on sale I can get two shrimp rings for $10. I've been ordering shrimp when we eat out, too. Can't go wrong with a half pound for 140 calories!
Gotta try the banana cream pudding - I got the chocolate and devils food but thought they had a weird aftertaste.
Made a nice smoothie the other morning, a banana, one 6 oz cherry vanilla ff yogurt and a slurp of skim milk. Threw a couple ice cubes in while I blended it and Voila! Very tasty - like a milkshake.
Like sauerkraut? One of the little cans is only about 25 calories - I eat one cold once in a while. Pucker up! (Just be aware of the salt content.)
Progresso makes a bunch of 99% ff soups - I take a can of Chicken/Penne or White Cheddar Potato or Minestrone and add a can of asparagus or peas or sliced potatoes or mushrooms or white kidney beans and I usually have enough to share (or hog it all myself!) for under 300 for the whole can+. I find the Progresso at the local Dollar tree/East Coast Marketplace/Overstock type of store.

I saw the name of this thread and HAD to chime in! I looooove food! I don't just eat it, I crave it, binge it, and would you believe, cook it for a living?! Scary! But now that I'm getting my food obsession under control, I'm taking a good hard look at what I can and shouldn't (but occasionally do!) enjoy There are somethings, like air, that I simply cannot live without! These are:
CHOCOLATE - bars, ice cream, cake, whatever, I just have to have a little once a week or I will go clinically insane!
Coffee: I love the taste, I love the aroma, and I can enjoy it without feeling guilty!
Red Meat: I eat LOTS of chicken and fish but there is just nothing like a good ol' steak or slice of tri-tip!
Soda: Yes, I've switched to diet. I really enjoy an ice cold Pepsi One with a nice big bowl of popcorn on Friday nights.
Ice Cream/Yogurt: smooth, creamy, cool, and wonderful. Love to indulge every now and again!
I love it when folks come in and chime in what they can't live without. It reminds me of a conversation me and my mother had when I was down visiting with her. Here are the rules:
You have to give up something that means the world to you. If it is a food you can never eat it again. If it is a person you may never see them again. An activity you may never do it again. Once you give that thing up you will be your perfect weight. If you violate the rules you will go back to where you were +100 lbs.
Would you make this deal with the devil?
I have considered this and decided I could not make the deal. Anything that would be precious enough to give up I could not do without forever. Therefore there are no shortcuts and no deals to be brokered.
I agree one hundred percent. "Forever" is such a long time and life is just too short! I know I can't go back to my old eating habits, and I'm willing to make the changes, but I am NOT going to torture myself.
I think of my 'sin' foods like champagne. You don't sit down and have a bottle every night, you have a glass at special occasions. If I stick to that model with my 'must have' foods, I'll be ok. I just know myself too well to think that I can go to a birthday party or out to dinner with friends and say "no thanks" to dessert because it is not on my plan.
Miss Chris I know that there is no way that I could do that. Afterall forever is a mighty long time. Heck the chocolate indursty would go bankrupt. lol. Hey an idea ok I know that this could be dangerous to think and all but how about goin a week without something you truly enjoy. So how is everyone doing? Here it is cold and no snow. Yeah no snow, but then again I could handle the cold if there was snow. Rusty HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that yours is soon if not already passed. Hope that you have a good one. Good thinking Goddess on the no no foods. Start the change one plan and so far have done ok. I am however waiting 2 wks before goin on to the next phase. Baby steps. Gotta make sure that this is doable with my work schedule. That is the one thing that makes it hard with me is the work schedule, you never know if you are goin to get lunch at the same time and can't perdict what time you are goin to get it. It would make it so much easier if I could predict when and if I am goin to get to sit down for more than 10 min. Anyone out there got any ideas? Please let me know, any and all help appericated.
Gigglez! Thank you - the big 4-5 is coming up on the 22nd. Thank you for remembering me.
So where is everyone? I was thinking that maybe I wasn't getting the notifications - but it isn't just me, huh?
Yoo-hoo! Can Chris and Morning Glory and everybody else come out and play?
It's 19 degrees today and the snow from Christmas is dirty and frozen and YUK! I hate January. The high point is lunch with Dad on Wednesdays - we're off to Hu Ke Lau today and I'm looking forward to eating a meal I didn't have to cook!
One desert island - one year - one book - one food - one person you don't already know - one movie - no clothes. Whatcha gonna do? LOL
Even I have to think about this one today and I'll let you know what I come up with. Who could I talk to/look at/share it all with for a year? Someone smart - gorgeous - entertaining - nekkid? Hmmm. At least there's no question on the food - PIZZA!
OMG Someone finally came out. Hi Rusty! Methinks that everyone else is snugglin up there the DHs. Cold here goin to be down to around 10 tonight. No snow though.
OK one yr on island no prob. One person that one is hard to answer, but I think that I would say Toby Keith(ok I know that it would never happen) or Chris Ballard(he's not famous or anything just recently met him and we have so much in common only talked to he a few times so I really dont know him), One book I guess that I would take the BIBLE. I have never got to read it all and on an island I figure that I would have much time to devote to it. I guess that like Rusty I will opt for pizza. One movie that one I really don't know about but I do know that it would have to have action, humor,a nd romance in it. MG, Miss Chris were are y'll at? Come on out we wont bite.
I have sent Morningglory(Lora) several PM's. I wonder if her computer crashed or something. I miss her quite a bit.
One desert island - one year - one book - one food - one person you don't already know - one movie - no clothes. Whatcha gonna do?
Well the book thing is hard do I bring something I have read before or do I bring something I have heard is good an take a chance? Okay I guess I would bring Slaughter House 5, I have read it alot of times and I get something new from it every time. It's kind of quirky and sci-fi.
So do I only get to eat 1 food that year? Because then you have to choose like a madarin chicken salad from Wendy's or something so you at least get a balanced food groups and stay regular. Is that too analytical?
I guess I would bring Ed Norton. I don't know how good he looks naked but I think he would be interesting to talk to. We could discuss movies, directing, and Salma Hayek. Or maybe Kevin Smith, or how about Oprah? I just don't want them to get on my nerves and able to carry a conversation, like I don't think Brad Pitt and I would have alot to talk about
Okay the movie thing is really hard, because I assume Ed would want to watch it with me, and watching Fight Club over and over with him would be weird. So I would probably bring The Long Kiss Goodnight, I want to look like Geena Davis when I grow up (Yeah right ) and it would remind me to excersise and stay strong during my year sabatical.
So there it is I am a freak and I actually answered the ?
