The whisky will do you a world of good!

I am off to have a medicinal cocktail as someone is leaving work today. I will only have one as it is not good for me to drink when hormonal. Anything could happen!

Hi Veggie

Peacock, Yup, the whisky did wonders... sometimes the old remedies are the best. I'm debating having a second mug of hot lemon/honey/whisky mixture.... purely for medicinal purposes, of course - although I might wait until after DH gets home, it wouldn't look too good for him to come home and find me passed out on the sofa.

On second thoughts....

Hello everyone

Lovely to hear all your news. I have been a bit quiet all week as I felt too hormonal to type. The older I'm getting the worse I'm getting I am going to get myself some Starflower and Oil of Evening Primose Oil to see if I feel any better next month. I am great now though.

My friends the ones that don't have an Irish parent or parents do not get St Patrick's Day either. When my grandmother was alive she would send us Irish Flag type rosettes, and it was always a time to remember your Irishness I suppose. In those days it was just the Irish community that did it really but now of course it has been all commercialised and as Helen says an excuse for Guiness to say come on and drink me. I cannot stand the stuff incidently. I am however very proud of my Kerry blood, and for many years I always spent St Patrick's Day in Kerry. These days however I always go out and have a good drink and go somewhere where I can listen and sing along to the Irish songs that I was bought up on. By the way my mother is English and she doesn't get St Patrick's day either!

This evening I have a pile of stuff to do around the house. Then I have to go to my parents and do their ironing.

Take good care everyone

Michele

I'm not really Irish, but Boston is such an Irish city it is always a really fun day to go out. Tons of my friends are Irish and because of that I've been to Ireland a bunch of times and I love it. I hate the downtown commercial bars, I go to the old man bars in the neighborhoods thats where the fun is. Usually I don't do much for it but my friend picked this day when she had her baby in January. I'm really just excited to hang out with her, it's been a long time since we've been able to drink together. We've been best friends since we were 10 and I miss just hanging out. I adore her husband and kids but it'll be fun to do the girl thing. Only problem is give her a few drinks and every guy in the bar has MY NUMBER. She is always trying to fix me up.

It's pouring down snow and I'm using it as as excuse to skip spinning tonight. I'm beat and very cosy on the couch where I will remain!!!

I have to go look up "red nose day"...thats what I do when I don't know what you guys are talking about, like pancake day. I don't want to be annoying and ask you to explain everything since this is the UK section and I really have no business here (except that I like this group ).

Hoping to run tomorrow but looks like it may be raining. Last night I ran in the rain, not looking forward to it tomorrow so it may have to be spinning.

Have a great weekend all!!!

Thats their ironing done. Tomorrow I have to take my mother shopping for a coat that will be fun she will say oh that is fine to the first coat she sees as she hates to be away from my father.

Redsox my father went to Boston must be ten years ago for St Patricks Day, it was his first time in America and he absolutely loved it. I still have the t-shirt he bought me back. He says if he were stronger he would go back tomorrow. Have a good old craic tomorrow Red, I am going to try and pace myself I certainly don't want to be as ill as I was last year thats for sure.

Have a lovely weekend Helen. Let me know what the Guiness Marmite is like Frus. I am just not sure about it as I cannot stand Guiness.

Last week I my IPOD packed up. When I go to the gym I put it in my bra and there is crop top over that now this sounds gross but I think I sweated into it. Obviously I cannot tell John Lewis this and that might not have been the cause of it breaking but apparently it is ready to be collected it couldn't be fixed and there is a new one waiting for me on the Service Desk. I am lost without it. I borrow the little fella's one in the mornings but it is full of songs that I cannot stand. Eldest fella's IPOD is much more my taste but he won't me use it during the day spoilsport he is.

Goodnight godbless

Michele

Michelle your Dad never fails to make me smile......is he a big or small man? I think he may need a new Boston St. Paddy's Day t-shirt for himself!! I would love to send him one. I'm planning to pace myself tomorrow too, we'll see how that goes.

Sarah I forgot to say that I hope you feel better, rest and drink whiskey

Chris hope all is well down there, it's crazy windy and snowy here.

Hi girls,

Icy rain now here, but we've had snow most of the day and it's settled nicely. The wind is just starting to get up now, should be a noisy night with it blowing around the house.

I went out and met up with a friend (my only one here) and we wandered around the mall which was nice and I picked up a few bargains. And spent a birthday gift card as well in Bath and Body works, I love that place

It was horrible coming out of the mall, the roads had covered and were icy and slushy but there were plenty of gritters out and they were doing a nice job and everyone was driving nicely. I took the back way to my house and had the road to myself and it was lovely driving in such a quiet place with the snow falling and the ground all covered.

RSG, Red nose day is a day in the UK where they do like a telethon and raise money for charity, most of the shows in the evening are all comedy, hence the red nose as that's what clowns wear and it's funny. Please ask anything you like here...we'll always give you the heads up if we know it ourselves.

As for St. patricks day, I've never celebrated it beofre we moved here. Not that we really celebrate it now, but we know it's going on. They're very into believing that all Irish eat corned beef and cabbage for some reason, but they don't. That seems to be more of an Americanism for some reason.

Sarah hope the whiskey has made you all better, my Dad used to make me hot toddies when I had a nasty cold, can't stand whiskey but it did make me sleep and not cough and hack all night so it did help.

Have fun in Wales Helen, hope you have lots of fun in the rapids. Stay safe.

Michelle, glad to hear that you're feeling less hormonal and that you're getting a new ipod... I have Hannah's old one, only just figured out how to use the thing last week when she'd loaded music I like onto it... can't work that nano thing though, J went to see his girl last week in NJ and I fouond his on his bedroom floor and it was turned on, I had to leave it, as no matter what I did, I couldn't figure out how to turn the bloody thing off, so it just ran out of battery.

Jen, how was the guinness marmite?

OK, time to sit and veg in front of the telly.. speaking of veg... @ Veggie, glad you're back on line and hope the computer keeps working, we missed you.

CG... spring cleaning? Did you dust your bedroom?

Well I ended up going out with my British friend. Did a wee bit of shopping and then went for lunch. We went to St.Louis Bread Co and I had soup and sandwich. Good stuff then we went to Coldstone Creamery for ice cream. I'm really stuffed at the minute. The ice cream was a bit over the top but it was her idea and I had a coupon

It's cold here no snow stay warm girls up in Mass.

Michele what does the Starflower and Oil of Evening Primrose Oil do? My hormones do wierd things to my moods. Maybe it's my age.

Sarah hope you're feeling better.

Chris no dusting cleaning out cupboards.

PS there's nothing on tele tonight.

Good morning everyone

I cannot believe I am up so early.

Red my father is a small man just five feet five tall and now weighs barely 8 stone not sure what that is in pounds but not much. Definitely send one for next year or before my friend he would love it.

CG Starflower and Oil of Evening Primose is supposed to alter some particular hormone in your body and therefore supposedly make you feel better during the time leading up to your period. It is also very good for your skin and a completely natural preparation. I used to take it years ago but unfortunately and god did I panic at the time but my little fella who was about two at the time ate a load of them. I phoned A & E who telephoned the poisons unit and said he would be fine and not to worry. Mind you I have to say my little fella who was a right cranky thing when he was small was in a great mood afterwards so maybe they do work.

I've just had poached egg on toast my hubby makes them just perfectly. I always have a big dollop of Daddies Sauce on mine.

Sarah how are you feeling today?

Sounds so cold there Chris they say there is snow on the way here again but I am not sure as I cannot smell it!!

Right I had better get going.

Take good care

Michele

Morning!

I've got a grumbly headache - not sure if its this blummin cold or last night's hot whisky toddies thats causing it. Anyway, three toddies the whisky hit me like a hammer. DH had set us up a roaring log fire to snuggle up in front of to watch Comic Relief ... and I immediately fell asleep... DH says he woke me up to go to bed but I don't remember it - and I slept right through until 7am - which means I slept about 12 hours! The dogs don't understand when I don't feel well so, rather than spend the whole day with them taking it in turns to stare me straight in the eyes in an effort to mentally transmit to me that I've forgotten their walk, I decided to take them out anyway - and I feel a bit better for the fresh air.

Everyone whose celebrating... enjoy your St Patrick's Day.

RSG, here's a link to the web page about Comic Relief and Red Nose Day.

From what I've heard on the radio, it sounds like it was a good Red Nose Day evening. I'd have loved to have seen the segment with Tony Blair and Catherine Tate. Doz this face look bovvered?

Right, thats it! Michele's done it again.... I'm going to have to have poached egg on toast for my lunch now... with brown sauce!

DH just phoned to say he's got a sore throat, headache and feels like .... and he's blaming me.
