  • Quote: Crikey! Bare legs..... and theres me with my thermals on!!!! Dunno why but I sort of had the idea that your weather was about the same as ours - so this threw me a bit - being nosy I just checked on Gmap and found out that Illinois is on about the same latitude as Spain. Hola!

    :
I didn't know that Sarah. It will be warmer today 80 degrees which is nice. I got out the sunblock yesterday. Summers are hot and humid. I prefer spring and autumn. We should be back to more seasonable temps next weekend.

Poor George some people are ignorant. How mean.

Have to go and get my wee one some shorts that fit . All her summer clothes are too small this year.

Helen good job on the race.

    Enjoy the day.
  • Some people really do have too much time on their hands but -> This <- made me laugh!

80F!!! CG - it really does only seem like a couple of days ago you were saying about the awful weather you were having.
  • Hello everyone

Well I am back from Brighton/Hove and I am absolutely knackered. When we got there our friend had bottles of Moet and Chandon on ice with strawberries we drank that then some more. Then that evening headed into Brighton. It's years since I was there. Hubby and I used to go there lots before we were married. We had a really good night god above only knows what time we got home. Then of course we had the confusion witht he clocks going forward. After eating scrambled on toast in bed we then headed down to the beach for a walk. Thennnnnnnnn ate another brekkie at this american type diner place I had a veggie ranch brekkie. I'm stuffed now. Our friend is a one she says I have a pressie for you all. She gives us all this sachet of stuff which she says is females viagra!!Oh I did laugh. I still have it in my bag though.

No one is indoors the house is so quiet. I might go and have a lay down before my family get in.

Great old run you had there Helen this morning I saw so many runners I think the world has gone running mad. I sat on a bench and watched them.

CG I look forward to some warmth here.

Take good care and enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone

    Michele
  • Michele - there are lots of runners about at the moment in the build up to London. What's sad is how few of them (relatively speaking) drop off afterwards. Champagne and strawberries sounds like a lovely start to the weekend.
  • Congrats Helen

Michelle-Glad you had fun, sounds like a nice weekend, enjoy your recovery time.

Sarah-Did you yell at the man who kicked George.....I don't think I could keep my mouth shut. Once my sister (long story but we really don't get along) kicked our dog, we had a nice old basset hound, so I threw my dinner at her!!!! It was lasagna, made a nice mess.

Just ran about 8 miles I think......it was perfect for running today. Ate a little too much yesterday so had some work to do.

I brought home a huge box of left over veggies from the Christening, all kinds mixed up. Anyone have any ideas for something SIMPLE I could make with them to eat for lunch this week????

Having trouble getting off the couch now, I'm supposed to go shopping for a bridal shower next week, but I feel like watching movies for the afternoon!!!! Oh and I'm definitely taking a bath.
  • RSG - How about a vegetable lasage or perhaps pop them in a light cheese sauce with a savoury crumble topping - maybe make a curry sauce ... maybe eat them cold over couscous with a cumin dressing and some crumbled feta...

I threw a plate of lasagne at my ex husband - you're right, it makes a very satisfactory mess - especially on a wall which he had only painted that very day.

I called the idiot with the white fluffy dog a and asked him what the he thought he was doing. He said he thought George was going to attack his dog - I said it looked more like the other way round to me - and that my dogs are properly trained unlike his one - and did he think I ought to kick his dog... twice.... because I thought it MIGHT attack one of mine.

By this time, of course, all the dogs were running around and getting along wonderfully together.

Okay... what's a bridal 'shower'. Sounds damp!
  • Bridal showers are annoying......

They were originally meant for the bride to have all of the women that will be at the wedding get together. The idea is for people to buy gifts to stock the newlyweds new home together. Like sheets, towels, kitchen stuff etc. The idea is that this is the bride and grooms first time leaving home.

Now in reality most people now don't need showers, as usually they have been on their own for years. This one is for my cousin who has been living with her fiancee for years. Clearly they have a functional house and I'm sure we don't need to complete it for her so now people just register for stuff they want, but don't want to buy for themselves.

Overall it's like a pre-wedding get together, mostly they are just for women, sometimes they are "jack and jill" where the men come too. Most of the men are miserable at such events!!!

Can you tell I don't want to go???? It is not appealing to spend the whole day with all the women in your family!!!!! Well not for me at least......
  • OMG! Sarah - I would've kicked HIM! What an absolute ignorant BOZO!!!!

Helen You are on FIRE girl

RSG - sounds like a nice lazy weekend you've got planned there!

Mich - sounds like a lovely weekend also, we are off to Brighton in a couple of weekends time for a coach festival thingy I hope to get plenty of shopping in, and for some reason DH thinks we will be running... We did last time we went but then it was closer to Amsterdam then!

When did I last post... Oh yesterday maybe

Anyway, we went shopping And I bought some miadidas running shoes - they are made to order but I am a little bit dissapointed since they are not as "made to measure" as I thought. But the good thing was that you could've had one foot in one length and the other shoe in another length. My right foot is about half a size bigger than my left. Unfortunately the longer shoe didn't feel right in the arch support so I have a smaller shoe that might bang my toe We will see. They are PINK and have "lightning" embroidered on the side!

I also tried to spend my Tesco vouchers at Goldsmisths in Victoria, but they didn't have the ring I wanted so they said that the Goldsmiths at Brent Cross had them. I went there today.

We went to see that 300 film yesterday - it is fantastic! The men are all ripped and gorgeous and strut around in loin cloths. HUBBA HUBBA

Funny thing, we went to Spoonies to eat beforehand and I had the salmon fishcakes with just a salad - no dressing. And I didn't get a dessert. Then we went to the cinema and DH wanted snacks from Sainsburys so I bought him a danish pastry and I wanted Maltesers. I usually get a bag for the cinema but I couldn't find the little bags, or any bags for that matter, so I picked up some chocolate raisins and then at the checkout I found some bigger bags so I bought them too Now the funny thing... I was sharing them with DH and was making sure he had 2 for every one I had AND I left some in the packet

Then I was mighty hungry after the film (11pm) so I had a hot cross bun on the tube on the way home!

I've still got the Maltesers and the chocolate raisins sitting in the cupboard and I haven't touched them all day!

This morning I went to Waitrose and stocked the fridge with cheese and vegetables!!! Don't ask me why, but there is an appalling amount of cheese in there! I think I'm going veggie, apart from I bought proscuitto ham and figs

THEN I went out for a run to Brent Cross, which was going ok until I got to the Dollis Brook walk and my knee started screaming at me THEN I got flippin LOST too! and ended up coming up at the North Circular about half a mile East of where I started off... So I walked along the North Circ to Brent Cross, which was not particularly scenic, but I least I knew where I was! Then I got a nice ring and some earrings in Goldsmiths and blew a wedge in Boots! Loads of shampooey stuff was on BOGOF, and suncream - I bought extreme sports for marathon training! Then I got some bath stuff and some other stuff and a magazine and a yoghurt to eat on the bus home!

Got off the bus miles from where I wanted to be then limped up home! Plopped into a nice hot bath. I got out and iced my knee while I ate a really really good chocolate brownie from Borough Market that I bought last week and decided to treat myself with post-run. However I was only running for about 40 mins because of the getting lost and the knee, but it was still good. I seem to have lost my pacing though, I'm starting off running too fast, but it's good that I want to run faster now - I just can't keep it up. I suppose if I keep running fast at the start then running at a slower pace once I'm sorted I might start running faster for longer distances.

Anyway, I only ate half my brownie, because 1) it is HUGE and 2) it just didn't taste as good as I expected maybe because I froze it, but it should've been ok

So I've just had my ham, fig and mozzarella thing and a peanut butter and jam sandwich, just because! I was still really hungry so since I bought some wholenut PB I thought I'd put it in a jam sandwich! It was ok. Nothing too great to shout home about!

Not really sure on the plan for the rest of the evening. DH is out till about 11 and I'm not really bothered about doing anything. I suppose tidying is always a good thing and I might make some pancakes or something for tomorrow
  • I so wish I'd read this thread yesterday. I walked for 1/2 hour to get to my nearest Tescos only to find it shutting at what I thought was 3pm. I'm totally out of sorts now - it's 8:15pm all of a sudden.
  • I'm exhausted just reading that! I've had a lovely bath, a nut roast with loads of veggies and some wine now, and feeling like an early night might be on the cards. I've got some hot cross buns though so I'll treat myself before I go to bed I think. And then in the morning another week of training starts.
  • Poor duffnut

    Here's the ringadingding

It's a bit washed out in the flash - it's actually a pale blue

  • Thanks for the sympathy Frus OMG the ring is lurrrverley
  • Quote: Some people really do have too much time on their hands but -> This <- made me laugh!

80F!!! CG - it really does only seem like a couple of days ago you were saying about the awful weather you were having.
    that was funny.

You're right about the weather it will be back to 60 by next weekend. 80 all week.
  • Went shopping and got the wee one shorts, t-shirts and a swimsuit.

I will leave my swimsuit for a few more weeks hopefully I'll have a few more pounds off by then.

We both got sandals. I actually bought 2 pairs of flip flops usually I can't wear them cos they hurt my toe but these are comfy.

Frus maltesers yikes can't keep them in this house. Love them.

Michele sounds like you had a good weekend with your friends. That's what I need a girls night out. Female viagra bet that brought the house down.

Hubby is BBQ'ing so I'm going to do some beans to go with the burgers.
  • Evening Ladies,

Helen, well done on your super run, you must feel fantastic

Frus, sounds like a busy but nice weekend, you've got me craving a hot cross bun now though my woman... and they don't make them right over here, they put like a cross with sugary icing on them... it's not nice. Ring is blooming super loverrrrly...

CG... shorts on woman showing those chicken legs? COR... I'm glad you've got it warm Mrs. We had a quite nice day yesterday with the sun out and then by 10.30 it was SNOWING!

Doughnut... have you tried putting your butternut squash in the microwave to start it cooking? I know this was on another thread, not this chat one, but reading your name reminded me of your question, I poke holes in mine and wrap them in cling wrap and cook for about ten minutes, then scrape them all out to cook in the oven for about half an hour.. they are delish.

RSG.glad you're having a good weekend and got plenty of veggies to eat through the week...

Sarah, that is so about that oaf kicking George... it's not right...I'm so glad you shouted at him...I had a twit throw a huge rock at Lew a few years back and scream obsenities at me...he scared us to death and Lew did growl at him and quite rightly so....I hope George is ok.

I've been to a wellness expo today for work, it was very interesting and had I not been working I could have done pilates on the machines and had massages and acupunture and all sorts...maybe next year I shall go on the day I don't have to work it.

Ok, time to call a friend...see you all tomorrow
