Yesterday was a pause day on water. Only got 50.7 ounces. Bombed on the stealth challenges but I am starting over on those after I figure out what I did wrong. How's everyone doing? JCT what's up? karybeary good going on your first week and welcome? Still doing great on the carbs curly. Red my dear how are you? Don't whip my A** yet, I am getting there, really.

Hey all. Real quick post - have to help with a lot of shifts at work, so will only be doing quick pops in for a few days.

Carla - I love the "well watered dinner" comment. There are some days I would really love to indulge - but then I think of the calories . . .

Day 5 complete. almost was a pause day for all three, as major was craved. But, I made the right choice in the end. Hurray.

Maybe I should just call it - "the other life challenge?" I am either going to use the money for personal trainer, or spa session when I go to see my friend this fall.

Have a great day all. Oh yeah, horse is Chance. He likes to take advantage of his Mummy too. Off to cuddle the dogs during the Oscars.

Winding down Day 6!

Finding that as I am eating less and savoring my food I don't WANT as much. Tonight I put back part of my dinner for later! I am getting to where I hate that "overstuffed" sick feeling but enjoy it much more when I am full but not overly so!!

Hey girls!!!!

Day 17 on Journaling.... I have been doing really well with this one. I think it has helped me with being concious of what I eat every day.
Day...8 for H2O. That's been a bit harder since I tend to go for the sodas first. I have been using FLY Lady emails to get my house in order and one of her things is to drink water before each meal and after each restroom stop. That gets me in the groove, but I think my next set of challenges will have to have some sort of anti-soda theme. hmmmm.

You will all be pleased to know that I actually EXERCISED three times this week!!! LOL We did Yoga one day and took a walk another day. The other day I did these rapid punch things that my daughter likes doing... arms bent at waist, fist curled, one foot slightly in front of the other. Alternate punches in front while rotating waist... as fast and hard as you can! LOL It looks all kinds of weird but she thinks it is great fun.

I set up a few goals for me this weekend. I am hoping that I can accomplish them. I wonder if you all could give me your input. My first goal is to hit 203 by St. Patrick's Day (March 17). That's 4 more #s. Another is to be in One-derland by Easter (April 16). The las one is to be down to my goal, 150#, by my birthday (Sept 22). I figured that was 2#/week between now and then. I am wondering if this seems attainable to any of you.... I know it would mean that I need to start exercising so that I have something to increase when I start to plateau.... any input would be greatly appreciated.

Talking Day 10 in the bag!!!

Hi all. Wrapping up Monday here. I was getting home and thinking, "oh, have to do the crunches still..." when I remembered, no! I had done them this morning in the long distant past. It's so good to get things done super early in the day, but man is it ever hard to get up and out. Today I was a hair's breadth from calling it off. Instead I forced myself to walk to the gym, jog (but only 3K) and do the crunches and back exercises, then actually did a bit of weight training. I realized I just don't like having lost so much upper-body muscle. So, I'm going to go light there but incorporate some weight training back in my routine. So, Day 10 is done! Hurrah! Oh, yes, I knocked out the crunches late last night for Day 9, so I still have two pause days left.

JCT -- Good to see you! With your pretty lavender script. Excellent work on the journaling. This is something I must get back into doing. I am thinking of declaring two new challenges tomorrow, no deep-fried foods and a journaling challenge again. You have inspired me and the no deep-fried foods is because I am eating too many of these potato croquettes... We'll see the specifics tomorrow. Well, that is great with the exercise. I am so glad to hear you are getting out and moving and moving at home too. As for your St. Paddy's Day goals and Easter, I think they are very doable. But, yes, you should try to get some exercise going. Do you have an exercise bike? They are good for spinning away the pounds and you can get your heart rate up pretty high if it has resistance.

dance -- on Day 6! And I love to hear that you're getting away from the overstuffing yourself. It is so much nicer just to feel comfortably full, isn't it? I think that's a great change you're making there, one that is going to stick with you, I think!

curly -- Wow! What a long and colorful post from you! You're 45 and haven't drunk since 34?!?! Oh, wait, NOW I get it, I was thinking the last party was recently and that it wasn't wild, now I see you're saying the last one was 11 years ago and mega crazy! Ok, ok, sounds like some of mine...funny, they didn't have the same longterm aftereffect as yours though....you must be the smarter one.

jolly -- Good for you for not taking a pause, but working through that craving and notching another day in the clear! Chance...nice name. Yeah, being taken advantage of is a pain, isn't it? So, does "cuddle the dogs during the Oscars" mean you didn't see the Oscars or did you watch them with the dogs? We had a busy day at work but it was fun going through all the pictures coming in, over 1500 of them! I picked four of the best dresses for the page...I liked Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba, Charlize and Salma (though the last one was really for one guy on the desk who enjoyed the cleavage...speaking of which, Ms. lift and separate herself was there...Jane Russell, looking a bit worn but not bad. I read it was rather boring this year. What did you think (if you saw it that is!)

carla -- Oh, wow! get a load of jolly's comment!!! "There are some days I would really love to indulge -- but then I think of the calories." Ouch! She puts in the knife and turns it!! Bet that one got you with tail between the legs, eh? You see, my ploy to lure you out of lurkdom worked!! Thanks for the "other white meat" explanation. I had NO idea. Asked at work today and one Canadian knew it. I really had thought it was something a bit more bizarre...guess I have been in Asia too long.

Tia -- Keep at it, kiddo! You can do it! Chug that water!!

girlie -- Yes, you caught me! I HAVE been in Asia too long. I mean, whether something is edible or whether I would eat it are two very different things, but when you're in Asia you learn that everything, and I mean everything is indeed edible and you learn to prepare for the worst. Deep-fried roach, anyone? No, but it's true that dogs are eaten in Korea, not in Japan though. I've seen pictures come in over the wire of markets in Korea selling puppies for consumption. It's so sad. Pictures from the Philippines of cats being caught and skinned for sale as well, usually for the gut and musical instrument strings and a lot of that trade goes to Japan. Here, we get the horses that are shipped from the U.S. and whale, dolphin, snake, live goldfish, assorted insects, you name it...it's pretty much available. But, no, I hadn't remembered your challenge was no red meat, so couldn't figure what you were saying about the "other white meat." I didn't realize it was an ad. I thought it was something gross and you didn't want to mention it. Ok, glad that is cleared up and yes, as carla points out, I'm a veghead, nearly vegan. Too bad about your soda challenge. Try again! and make it Level 3. Now, you know why I keep my challenges usually Level 3. Looks like you should have maybe made your Level 3 your Level 1 and vice versa, eh? Well, good luck!

aileigh -- Sounds like you've cooked up a doozy with your big all-in-one challenge! Good luck to you! And thanks for your sweet post on the other thread too, by the way.

Who else is out there? Apple, surf? CB? marb, kary, Danzer? angel, Fish, Sushi, how are you all doing? Anyone I missed, come in and post! Newcomers, welcome!! Shad? carla? Don't forget us.....

Default Hi Red!!!

Hi Red,

I just wanted to pop in for a really quick hello. It sounds like you are doing great.

Things are going pretty good here. Weight loss is slow but steady and going down which is a good thing. Dh is recovering from hernia and gall bladder surgery. Baby Gage is walking, talking and terrorizing every chance he can! LOL! Less than 3 months until Brittany graduates. Dylan is a typical 13 yr old in a daze most of the time. LOL! I'm down 49 pound from my wedding day on5/5/02 and 39 pounds since my restart on 10/26/05. Not supertastic results but I'm happy with them. I still have...what is it..71 pounds to go...wow still so far. I can't wait to at least get to that half way point.

I'd love to commit to a challenge, but I'm just not sure if I could pop in every day. Right now I'm journaling, doing better with water, and have BEGUN an exercise routine. So we will see how that goes.LOL! Wish me luck and I'm wishing everyone on here the best of luck in your weight loss and challenges!!

Take it easy,
Lisa

Smile Hi All

to all the new people!!! Your gonna have a great time here.

My challenges are going great, they are almost over (Day 20 today) and 0 pause days have been taken. I already have new challenges in mind. I have lost another pound, which has brought my short term goal to an end and my total weight loss to 10 lbs. For me the first 10 are the easiest so from now on its gonna be nothing but sweat and tears
I will post my new challenges in a few days, i'm off to do some exercise

Goodluck and be safe!

Default Bit of a setback

First the good news - I have finished day 19 of my exercise challenge, so just today and tomorrow and will have made it Friday I walked 40 minutes, Saturday DH and I walked for 4 hours around NYC. We walked from 1st Ave and 20th St. up to Central Park (about 4 miles) then took the subway to City Hall, walked down to Battery Park, back up to the World Trade Center site/memorial (the city has done a wonderful and touching memorial set up around the construction), and up through ChinaTown and Soho before we finally had to get a cab before our feet fell off!

He went home Sunday morning, and I walked by myself for over 2 1/2 hours. I walked back down through the Bowery, over to the East Village and SoHo, and back up to my apartment. I went to a designer denim sample sale - bought a pair of Blue Cult jeans in a size 31 for $65! I think these jeans normally sell for at least $150. The 31s were a little baggy, but the 30s were way too tight - i think they may have been slightly different styles though, because I tried on a different pair of 30s and they were only a tiny bit tight. I also bought a LaCoste polo for $30! So it totally makes up for Barney's not having anything

Now the bad news - I have to start over on my calorie challenge. Oddly enough, after walking practically all of Manhattan, I was super-hungry. I ate pretty healthy food, but a lot of it. (Okay, Sunday I didn't even eat that healthy ). At any rate, I am back to day 1 on calories.

Es Angel - even though you haven't been posting, you have certainly been going strong on your challenges! You are almost done!!!

Congratulations on all the weight loss! It seems as if at least half of us have posted a weight loss last week - keep it up, everyone! I haven't been on a scale for a week. I think i haven't gained anything, but am a little concerned. I will be home Thursday night and on the scale as soon as I wake up Friday morning!

Red - you are doing great with the crunches. Just keep getting down and doing them!

Marble - size 10? I bet you are looking HOT How tall are you? I see that our weight goals are similar, but wasn't sure if you were taller than me or not (I'm 5'4").

Apple - did you have a good time in San Francisco?

Hi Red, I eat everything, but am partial to fish and veggies and those really good turkey burgers, I do eat red meat maybe once a week, pizza, chinese food (no puppies or kitties!). I limit the white stuff, occasional bowl of pasta only. I limit fat except for alcohol and a small choc. here/there. I've learned not to bring certain things into the house because I can't be trusted.

I think I am finally burning fuel instead of storing it....my metabolism was really off due to the large quantities of pain meds I had to take from the fractures....my lifestyle has gotten more active too, and my stress has been reduced.

Oh Carla, was that YOU I saw under the table in the restaurant the other night?....good to *see* you, I'll send you a PM later today!

Hey everyone! Thanks for the encouragement!! It's very much appreciated. I feel bad that I really have no time to comment on other people's successes...it's just that I've been so busy lately it's hard to even write my own post! LOL.

Anyways...I came up with 3 new goals. They should be a little easier, and I kept the pop goal. But here they are...

1.) No pop (L3) *Used a pause day today...felt really sick and low today. But I'm gonna keep it up.
2.) Write in my blog every day (L1) *Day 1 complete*
and.....drumroll.......

3.) Check in on this thread and write in here every day! (L1) Day 1 complete*

That way I'll keep myself accountable, and I'll try to comment on how other people are doing as well! I'm gonna make time every night to check in! Hope everyone's doing well. Keep up the great work!

Time to restart my challenges. Enough is enough.
Red and Curly I appreciate looking out for me, but the only reason I did not eat anything is because I was sick, and simply could not intake food. I am actually glad I spent them w/o food, but I did get in my water withought I could not have survived. I got used to drinking it, and sometimes right before bed I feel like I did not get enough, so I would drink 8-10oz out of pure thirst.
Over the weekend, I realaxed and did pretty much nothing. 4 loads of laundry are still on the floor unwashed, just like the dishes - waiting. I straighted the kitchen though. Yet, I gave myself two hours - tried on entire closet, where I have even smaller sized, which are my favorites, or never worn items. I fit into majority of them, which makes me very excited, especially the blue classical jacket that I had for years, I am able to wear it after 4.5 years break.
Just like Jolly I am thinking of personal trainer. As of this morning I am 242 lowest I've been in like 5 years. But I think I need a more structured approach. I will discuss it tonight, and perhaps will start this week.

Hi all! Just a quick pop-in! I had a fun week-end. It was nice to get 24 hours OFF from Mommy/wife role.
I took a pause day in there somewhere so I'm on day 4 I think.
