If anyone else is still visiting, SPEAK UP! LOL, or write up, as the case may be!!! LOL

Nori71 06-08-2006 12:35 PM

I'm back. We went to Seattle on Tuesday morning just for a day trip and as soon as we pulled in, my car broke down. Alternator. We ended up having to stay the night and get the car fixed. My food plans went by the wayside. The first day was just OK, but by yesterday I went way off plan. I have eaten pizza, cake, candy, french fries. I still get stuck in that mindset that if I "mess" up, I throw in the towel. I'm back on plan today and doing well. So that's all that matters now.

Good job, Kim! It's nice to see the scale moving down. I'm hovering between 222 and 227 for a couple months now. I can bounce between those 2 numbers in one week even. Do you have summer plan with your kids?

Sarah - glad Will's surgery went well. I'm OK continuing to post here with you guys. Maybe we can just start a new thread. So there's not so many pages? We can leave this one alone, since we didnt' "start" it. Do you want a new name? If we put a link in this thread than way if anyone shows back up, they could find us.

Mo - How you doing girl? Are your kiddos out for the summer yet? Around here breaks start around the 22nd - not that it affects me yet.

So, I'm in a very serious mindset about my weight loss now. I feel like I've been spinning my wheels since April. I feel like I'm wasting time. I know at least I'm maintaining and that's more than I've done in the past. BUT, I need to be losing 1-2 pounds a week... I can be good and on plan for 4-5 days and then have 1-2 so-so to bad days and I cannot lose weight that way.

MoNewEngland 06-08-2006 01:55 PM

Thursday

Nori: sorry about the car, hope it wasn't too expensive. You might have a good idea about a new thread and a new name, I know I wouldn't mind. Let's get a concensus....oh wait, we are the consensus! You've been more than maintaining, since I've been on this board you've lost a lot. I know...not as much as you wanted but I think you've lost the most of all of us, that's saying something! I think it's a small miracle that I haven't gained. I've been hovering at 197-199 but it hit 200 the other day and hopefully that will be my wake-up call. I did about 15 minutes of Pilates last night which is my first bit of formal exercise in months. I also went out today and bought a bike and will hopefully ride tonight or at least at the weekend, it's been raining so much here I feel like I'M in Seattle.

Kim: congrats on the loss! You're so right, I need to start journaling, it really helps me keep the food intake down, just another good habit I gave up for a bad one I guess. I used to post the previous days food intake here each day but I got out of the habit when my eating got worse :o

Sarah: what's new with you on the diet scene. Refresh my memory, are you on WW? Does anyone on this board actually go the meetings. I read on their site that people who actually go to the meetings lose 3X more than those that don't. Is that just a scare tactic????

Serena: What's new, how's your family and your mom? I worry about you when you don't post all the time missy! Stay in touch!!

Catherine: I hope you're doing well. We miss you here. I hope you post soon if you can. Let us know how you're doing physically and emotionally. Are the kids out of school soon?

My kids finish on 6/21. My son will go to 3 weeks of part time camp. It's sponsored by the state so it's free :D They even have a bus that picks him up and brings him into New Haven. The camp is at the Sound School which is on Long Island Sound and it's all on Aqua Culture: navigation, sailing, fishing, making lobster pots, etc. He went last year and liked it so he's doing it again this year. As for DD, I have no idea what she'll be doing. She went to camp for 1 week last year for fun but it's expensive so other than the 3 weeks we'll be away I just may have my nephew watching the kids. They'll be safely at home (although bored maybe) and he'll be earning some money for college savings.

Well, I've rambled on again as usual. I'm trying to make up for all the lost souls around here I guess! Talk to you all tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have sore legs :bike2: Scarey, that smiley actually looks like my own shape!

serena37 06-08-2006 03:37 PM

hey

Hi everyone. I'm feeling so drained these days that I don't even want to get up to walk across the room. Of course I have to in order to take care of the kids so I guess if it werent' for them I'd be in real bad shape. The youngest is walking now so I'm constantly after him. My middle son will be 3 next week so I've been planning him a Diego birthday party. I've been gathering rainforest animals and stuff and I'm gonna set up a rainforest for him and the other kids to explore through looking for animals. Of course my boys are usually the only kids at our birthday parties. My husbands family very seldom shows up to these things. Our supposed friends never show up either and I know it sounds spiteful but I stopped going to all their little parties too especially if the parties are in public places. I took the 2 older boys to a party at mcdonalds one time and my youngest who was only 1 at the time disappeared on me freaking me way out but I found him under a table. You can imagine what he had been eating. But the big difference is no one is allowed to smoke in our house but everyone else we know smokes and allows it in their houses and considering the fact that I have asthma and it looks as though all three of our boys may have asthma I'd rather not put them somewhere that will make them sick. Not to mention they all have cats and my middle son and I are allergic to cats. Anyway, enough wining. I'll check back in later. And yes I probably will have birthday cake. It's a major weakness of mine.

MoNewEngland 06-09-2006 10:07 AM

Good morning ladies:

Hi Serena! Glad to see you posted. Enjoy that birthday cake, I would too. I hope your kids have a great time at the birthday party. I remember when my kids were that small they loved to play on their Little Tykes toys and in the sandbox. They could spend hours in there!

Even though I didn't "diet" yet I'm starting to post my food again hoping it will help:

B: Bagel w/ cream cheese and jelly
L: Lean Cuisine Panini
D: (I just grazed while making meatballs and sauce...pretzels, meatball, crumb bun)

I rode my bike for about 15 minutes with the kids. I really want to get to the 15 mile bike trail to see how far I can make it this weekend. Maybe I'll throw the bikes in DH truck Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon. I wish the trail was closer, it's probably 25 minutes away. Volunteers have been trying to make a walking/biking trail near me for years it seems. It's part of the Greenway Trail I think that's supposed to go from Maine to Florida. The part near me would go from New Haven to Madison CT about 20 miles or so all along the shore, maybe I should volunteer instead of complaining!

Nori: Have you thought of any names for a new thread or should we just out here?
Sarah: Put on your thinking cap too!
Kim: I made the WW key lime pie and it's pretty good. You just add 1/4 cup boiling water to lime jello and stir, then add 3 lime yogurts stir again then fold in a container of lite or FF coolwhip, spoon into a reduced fat graham cracker shell and chill. I think it was 3 pts a piece. I'm sure I'll polish mine off this weekend. I'm sure you could do the same with any flavor, maybe I'll do strawberry next.

Oh boy, I just realized I forgot to bring my lunch to work....I smell trouble!

marinemommyof2 06-09-2006 12:17 PM

Hi Kim, Serena, Mo and Nori!!!!!!!!! It's so good to hear from everyone.

I love the idea of a new thread. I don't have any ideas for a new name....something upbeat and positive. LOL

Mo, I used to go to WW. When I went to meetings, it was very effective. I was better about staying on track because having to weigh in really makes me think twice about donuts. (My weakness.) However, I am going back on plan on Monday, and I'm going to ask my husband to help me monitor my progress. I've lost 34 pounds, but then I gained 4 of it back, so my total is 30 pounds lost. I want to get back on track before I slip more. I did the Leslie Sansone Walk & Kick video last night. Tuesday night I did both the 20 minute Turbo Jam and the Yoga Booty Balley Live Cabaret. That was a lot of fun.

Nori - glad you're back and the car is fixed. I hate car troubles!!! They're just so...unscheduled! LOL Which really throws off your schedule.

Mo - keep posting that journal. It'll help you avoid temptation. The trail from Maine to Florida sounds amazing!!!!!!!!!

Kim - stick with us!

Serena - don't give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone have a great weekend!!!!

Nori71 06-10-2006 11:08 AM

Take a look at this video of where I just found Melina!!

slimkim 06-12-2006 09:56 AM

mornin everyone...

Nori.. love that pic.. that was adorable.. having 6 kids I see all kinds f mischievious things.. 2 are older now.. 20 and 22.. the others are 13, 12, 9 and 6.. the boys were the most into things.. being only 11 months apart.. you would think with all these kids I would be a toothpick but noooooo not me...LOL

Sarah.. congrats on the 34 loss and that is great if you see a gin ..just really dig in and get rid of it b4 it builds way up.. I am really diligent lately at counting calories.. journalling every bite... it is that TOM now so I am up this week and hoping by my weigh in day wed I will be down another pound if not I know next week i will be down 2 becasue of water weight and such... I also do leslie's videos... watp 2 mile.. as far as summer with kids.. one has golf camp andother has an academic camp including a trip to six flags,.. the other two do whatever we're doing.. we will do crab fest, a beach party picnic, a family reunion in maryland and a water park day.. we live at the beach so we are on a constant vacation.. i know feel bad for us..hehe.. the tourists make it really crowded during the summer so no shopping on the weekends..ever!!! hahaha... more outside playtime means more weightloss for me..yeah!!

Mo... yes journal journal journal... i also try and plan some days.. it hellps to make a pie and divide it out and know the ranges for each area of the day and plan meals accordingly... that's just me tho... keep up the great job.. we're your cheerleader section!!

to all i may have missed catch you next time around.. bye..Kim

slimkim 06-12-2006 10:33 AM

let me explain.. by pie I meant draw a pie and make wedges and say if my calories are 1800 leave 1000 for evening and 800 for breakfast lunch and snacks.. like that.. not an actual pie..sorry..kim

MoNewEngland 06-12-2006 10:46 AM

Monday

Nori: that video was adorable!! Hopefully she'll still want to empty the dishwasher when she's a teenager! My daughter keeps wanting to watch old home videos but I keep putting her off. Maybe the next rainy day!

Kim: My sister lives in Cape May NJ and they sometimes take the ferry over to Delaware to go outlet shopping. I've never gone with them..usually preferring to stay home and read but I'll have to try it sometime.

Sarah: great job on the exercising, you go girl! I went for a bike ride Friday night with DH while the kids were at a birthday party. I probably only did about 3 miles but it was a little hilly. I was really out of breath a couple of times, I need to quit smoking. Yesterday I went for another ride with DD, she did good on the main road. We only went about 2 miles at the most because I had a friend stopping by and had to rush back.

I didn't do great on eating but didn't do horrible. I'm trying to remember....
Saturday:

B: nothing
L: ham sandwich & a few potato chips (split with DD from deli)
D: I can't remember maybe nothing because I ate a late lunch
S: piece of apple pie and some pretzels

Sunday:

B: Bacon & egg on hardroll (yeah, I guess did worse than I thought) but this was B & L combined
D: real small piece of steak, some ziti & green beans
S: pretzels and a handful of trail mix
S: about 2" slice of pie and about 10 milkduds before bed

Now that I read this I realize I should have eaten more often and made better choices. This morning I had Special K, I'm having Lean Cuisine for lunch w/ pretezels & yogurt and tonight it will be left over spaghetti and meatballs. I'm also hoping to do at least a 3 mile bike ride. Maybe I'll get a bike computer so I can track it accurately.

Have a great week. Anybody have some more recipe ideas?

Mo

marinemommyof2 06-12-2006 05:04 PM

Okay - my exercise is still going well. Saturday I went for a walk/jog combo, and then did Winsor Pilates, the 20 minute one. Sunday was an off day.

Let's talk about what I've eaten today. I don't know what's wrong with me! Breakfast - got 2 donuts from a restaurant here in town called The Jelly Donut. Lunch - got the 2 cheeseburger meal from McDonalds.

GROSS! My body has to be dying from all that saturated fat!!!

MoNewEngland 06-13-2006 09:24 AM

Tuesday

Oh boy, I love donuts!! I really love anything sweet, especially the chocolate donuts with chocolate frosting on them! At least you're still exercising. I did only maybe 2 miles on the bike last night because it was late. I ended up mowing the lawn while DH did more digging for the pool and then there wasn't much daylight left, plus DD fell off her bike twice, she said she's allergic to Mondays.

B: Special K w/strawberries & blueberries
L: Lean Cuisine, pretzels
S: trail mix
D: ziti & meatball
D: piece of apple pie (why didn't I just go to bed without eating this :?: )

DS finished a project for school last night. He read a historical book, Hannibal of Carthage. Then he videotaped DD interviewing himself as Hannibal. It seems so funny to watch it back, he was trying to be dramatic in his answers on his war tactics! I hope the kids at school don't laugh too hard when he plays his video for them!

I took chicken out of the freezer last night so I'll be looking for a new chicken recipe today. I want to find something that is maybe poached or simmered. I tend to dry the chicken out on the grill or undercook it which is even worse.

Do any of you remember how old you were when you got underarm hair? DD said last night she had some and I said no, it's probably just fuzz from your shirt, I went to pull it off and it was hair!!!! I am in shock. She's only just turned 10 last month. Is that early? I was a late bloomer myself so maybe it just seems early to me??? She's quite excited about it, I'd hate for her to have to shave at this age...there's only a little bit there now but I'm sure it won't be long...her leg hair is luckily blondish and not noticeable. I don't know if I can handle this growing up stuff!

Hope everyone has a great day. I wore my sneakers to work today, let's see if I end up walking. A friend at work and I said we were going to start walking last week but her brother passed away and she's been out. I'll try.

Mo

marinemommyof2 06-13-2006 11:19 AM

For the chicken, if you like mexican, do this:

Put the chicken in a casserole dish. Dump half a container of salsa on it, and bake at 375.

It comes out perfect, tender, and oh so yummy! Serve over rice, and it's perfect. You can make some vegetables for a low calorie side, too.

I remember in 4th grade getting made fun of because I started to get underarm hair and wasn't allowed to shave yet. :( I read an article that girls are maturing even faster these days, so I guess 10 isn't too surprising. It's just heartbreaking to watch our babies grow up!

Good luck on your walk tonight!

My plan for tonight - do Leslie Sansone's Walk & Job, and then the 20 minute Winsor Pilates. :)

My blood pressure was up last night. I have been forgetting my medicine and my vitamins, add that with all the junk I've been eating, and no wonder. So I'm on a new track today!

marinemommyof2 06-13-2006 11:20 AM

Walk & Job??? LOL I meant Walk & JOG!!!!!!!!!!

Nori71 06-13-2006 03:26 PM

Mo - I agree with Sarah - 10 sounds normal.

My exercise is going great also. I've been maintaining though for about 2 months now though. Gotta break this. It's not a plateau though. I know why I'm not losing. I'm not being consistantly good with my food. The exercise is easy, but I'm having on average 2 days a week where I don't keep track of my food and eat some junk. I'm onlyx 1/3 of the way to goal weight. not a place to get comfortable.

MoNewEngland 06-13-2006 03:52 PM

still Tuesday.....

This day is going so slow. My hip is really sore today. The advil hasn't helped at all. I feel like it's rusted shut. I don't know if I'll be able to walk or ride tonight. I might just buy dinner on the way home, bring DD to piano prax and then go to bed with a heating pad. It's not even a rainy day, I don't know why it's hurting so much :(

I guess I'll just marinate the chicken and cook it tomorrow night instead. Thanks for the salsa idea.

Mo

marinemommyof2 06-13-2006 04:34 PM

LOL-that's why I love salsa chicken. No prep time. LOL Another thing I've done, and this is high salt, so drink a lot of water if you eat this, is put your chicken in a casserole dish, throw in soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and garlic. It comes out so tender and juicy. No marinating necessary.

Nori - I'm with you. Except I've gained a little, need to get back on track! It's so hard to not get comfortable. I was so happy to be getting into 14s that I just started literally being a pig. I have not been at all choosy about what I stick in my mouth. Leftovers from the kids' plates, drive-thru food, candy, you name it. I have to keep telling myself that I'm worth more than that!!!!

Mo - I hope your hip gets better.

Have a great night everyone!!!!

jamamom 06-13-2006 06:20 PM

I am here

Hello ladies! Sorry that I have not been here. I have not even been on the computer at all. You should of seen my email. Things here are not so hot, but I am trying! I am on a new medication for depression. It helps in alot of ways but seems it hinder others. I have had migraines for 3 straight weeks. The last two days have been headache free. Some of course were a lot worse than others. I have not had any major binges, but that does not mean I have eaten right. No purging! That is the good part. My children are with my Mom for 3 weeks. They are so happy as is she. This is usually the time me and my husband get time together, but then there is the FIL.
I can't promise I will be here every day, but I will try to do better. I am suppose to start counseling. I will go more into that later. I could have lost my job, but my boss has been trying to help me through everything.

MO, You are a little lucky my daughter had underarm hair when she turned 9. She is also growing P---- hair. SHe let me know about that. And it just keeps growing. And she is already in a 36 A. She is only 9 1/2 now.

Nori, A new thread would be cool. We have lost so many people. I know,I know i haven't been here in a couple of weeks. Just shoot me!

Catherine

slimkim 06-13-2006 11:57 PM

well I was good all day kept my calories under 1850 ..until I made a choc shake.. hmm i think it may have put me over my max 2000..and I had it at 11 pm..worst time..i feel like throwing up... yuck.. i don't know how many cal i will have to figure it out as it was just half and half, sugar and choc syrup.. in a machine....but i know it oput me over!! so will have to be good tomorrow.. and i was under for the past 2-3 days so it should balance out..
well tomorrow is my own weigh in day..so we'll see.. tom was here so not expecting a loss really...but expect a big loss next week then... ok bye all Kim

MoNewEngland 06-14-2006 09:28 AM

Hump Day!

Hello ladies:

Catherine: Welcome back!!! Wow, your kids are out of school already? I hope the medication stops making you sick. Doesn't it suck some something helps one thing but makes something else worse. Maybe you can do some daytime things with DH. Can your FIL be left alone at all? Everyone says underarm hair is normal at that age, I didn't realize that. My DD refuses to even try on a bra. I remember I couldn't wait to get one. I was jealous of a girl who got one in 5th grade. I guess the hormones in all the food is really making the girls more "formed" at an earlier age.

I'm still bumming about my hip. I tried to go to bed early but of course no one can seem to function without asking me for something at least every 15 minutes so I got some periods of rest but no extra sleep. The hip is still really sore today, I can't figure out why, it hurts even when I'm sitting. I took more advil if that doesn't help I'll have to take a pain killer but they make me jittery. Anyway, as usual, yesterday I ate good for B&L and D went down the tubes.

B: Special K w/ berries
L: Lean Cuisine & WW Keylime pie (huge piece)
D: about a 4" piece stromboli bread, about 10 milk duds, 5 french fries

Nori: I've seen the Firm and the DVDs on sale on craigslist, have you tried looking on that site yet? In my area they had a set for $25. You could look under Seattle if that's your nearest big city. I love that site.

Kim: You're our only new blood! Has anyone thought of a new thread name to attract more "chicks"? Just consider that shake as part of your bonus points.

I never did make it to tanning, maybe I'll do that tonight. I told DH to marinate the chicken this morning so I'll just be grilling tonight. Maybe I'll stop for some veggies and make some veggie skewers to go with it.

Sarah: I went to McDonalds last night for the kids and boy it smelled good! I got stuffed bread at the italian place and ate that which was probably even worse.

Well, I'm off to hobble downstairs and get the mail!

Mo

marinemommyof2 06-14-2006 10:42 AM

Catherine!!! Welcome back. It's great to see you again! It's great to hear no purging! Keep up the great work!!

Kim - great job staying within your calories those days! One day won't set you back too bad at all. :) Good luck with your date with the scale! Let us know how it goes!

Mo - I sure hope your hip gets better! LOL-I was like you, couldn't WAIT for a bra!! I thought I was very special when I got one. :)

Nori - hey!!!!!!

serena37 06-14-2006 11:58 AM

hey

Catherine: I suffered a lot of headaches while I was pregnant and I didn't want to have to take anything so my mother made me a rice sock. She just took one of my dads socks, filled it with dry rice and heated it in the microwave to make it really warm. I would lay it across the back of my neck and soon my headache would be gone. I don't know how well it will work for major migraines but it might help ease some of the pain.

How is everyone? Pretty good here. I started out great yesterday and thought it was gonna be a good day but I quickly fell off the wagon and figured well If I'm gonna screw up I might as well do it royally. Of course I felt guilty later. I've been trying to talk my husband into moving out of state for awhile now and he just won't budge but he informed me that someone wants him to move to Montana to help develop some land and I thought well that would be cool until I realized just where Montana is. We live in the South where it's hot during the summer and the winters aren't that bad. It would be a long long drive to visit family cause I refuse to get on a plane. But it would probably be good for us. We would be forced to do things on our own and not be so dependent on family. This may sound strange but I think it would help with my weight loss cause I wouldn't be able to come to my mothers whenever I wanted. I don't buy junk food like she does. Most of the snack food that I buy is so the boys will have something to snack on and most of it isn't something I crave but my mother always has sweets around her house which is my weakness. Anyway, I doubt it's something we will do but it would be nice to do even if were a temperary move. I would probably like to come back when all the boys are in school.

Hope everyone is doing well

marinemommyof2 06-15-2006 11:17 AM

Hi Serena! I have a friend who lives in Montana, and she loves it. But she was born and raised there, so it wasn't a big shock when she moved back. :)

Don't beat yourself up for falling off that wagon every once in a while. Just keep climbing back on. It will make a difference.

Nori71 06-15-2006 03:11 PM

Well, I was all ready to put in a long catch-up post last night and my 1 year old was hanging around me and of course she reached up and hit "Esc" button and I lost the whole thing! I've been reading and following along, but haven't been good about posting...

and yes, Serena - it's all about getting back up once again!! BTW - I LOVE MONTANA!!! Don't know that I want to move there, but it is beautiful country!! I have a strong dislike for the South though, so I'd probably move there if it it was between the 2!!

Hi Catherine, Sarah, Mo and Kim!!

I've gotta go run to the store and get some more resumes out. Did I mention that I'm looking for a job?

Anyways, I hit 40 pounds gone this morning!!

MoNewEngland 06-15-2006 03:25 PM

Congratulations!!!

Nori: Congratulations on 40 lbs!!!:woo: :woo:
What kind of work are you looking for? Did you say you were in the military before?

Well my eating hasn't been good but I'll try to keep myself honest.

B: Special K w/berries
L: Lean Cuisine & ice cream
D: chicken kabob with grilled veggies
S: frosted donut :o (yes, Sarah I thought of you while eating it! ;) )

Hip has gotten a little better the last two days but is still sore. Today I've been getting little jabbing pains in the butt. I'll try to go for a short ride tonight and see how it is tomorrow. I have to bring DD to the store tonight to get two birthday presents. She's going to an American Idol party Saturday night. The people are having a d.j. and holding it at their beach house. They're extremely wealthy as you can guess. The other is a laser tag party. I'll be taxi driver all weekend between parties, play dates and soccer. I also have to go to my mother's she only lives 10 miles away and I haven't been there since Easter I think! She's come to my house for DD birthday, I really have to get down there. It's just the weekends are so busy. There's someone coming to put the pull up on Saturday. I hope all goes well. I have to order water I guess and have it delivered Sunday or Monday. We have a well and they say it's not good to use that, the water isn't ph balanced and the pump could burn out. Another hidden cost!

Talk to you girls tomorrow.

Mo

slimkim 06-16-2006 12:17 PM

well morning everyone..
I finally finshed that time of the month and can concentrate on more losses now.. i just came back form the doctors office and I hate it that their scales are always about 3 lbs more than mine! anyways.. I am at a loss I am full of flatulence from all ends.. so he put me on prevacid to start and I have to journal my indigestion and gas if better etc.. before going into other areas of concern.. Nori - great big CONGRATULATIONS on hitting the 40 pound mark!!! That is awesome! WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of job are you hunting for? Good luck!! Quick question - why do you hate the south?

Mo - lol on the donut!!! I had another one yesterday. (Ashamed to admit it...) Holy heck on the birthday party! They must be super wealthy! LOL Glad your hip is doing better...hopefully it will keep progressing. Wahoo on getting a pool! That's great!!

Kim - good luck with your new medicine. I seem to get gassy if I eat too much protein. Are you eating enough balanced stuff?

Everyone have a great weekend! "See" you on Monday!!!!!

MoNewEngland 06-16-2006 01:25 PM

Friday!!!!

Hi ladies:

Here goes yesterday's confession:

B: 1/2 donut
L: ham sandwich & pretzels
S: big cookie from cafeteria
D: rest of stromboli & about 10 milk duds, 2 chips ahoy
(didn't get home from work/stores till 8:15 and ate whatever I saw first!)

DS and DH are finally having their boys night out tonight. Movie, dinner and laser tag. Maybe DD and I will go for a bike ride. The town is also having a free drive in movie at the beach tonight but I'm sure it will be mobbed.

Kim: do you have exercises for the pool? Ours will only be 24' round above ground so I think "laps" are out.

Nori: I'm not sure what type of job you're looking for but I've always wished I did something that ran with the school calendar. Is your husband still in the military? Both my nieces learned how to sail from the programs run by the Coast Guard. I know your kids are still young but they grow up so quick!

It is SO nice out today I'm tempted to leave early but I already have my nephew scheduled to watch DD. I'd love to leave early and go get a bike rack and bring DD to a bike trail tonight....hmmmmmm

I'll try to check in over the weekend, if not I'll talk to you all on Monday. Boss if off till Wed and I was thinking of calling in sick that day to go to DS "stepping up" ceremony/picnic at school. I can't believe he's going into 7th grade!!! I hate having to miss all those things because of work. I already missed his Cultural Day last week. Guilt is a strong emotion!

Mo

marinemommyof2 06-16-2006 03:55 PM

Mo - I'm with you on guilt. DH is a Marine, and away right now, and today is the Father's Day Social at both DS's daycares. (They are in different buildings because of the age difference.) I can't make it because of work. And I feel terrible. I just keep thinking about how they must feel when they see everyone else's parents coming in. Light at the end of the tunnel - I'm taking some time off when we move.

Nori - I'm with Mo's advice about finding something on the school calendar if you can. :)

I don't "hate" it - but I would never move there. I think I'm spoiled living in the Pacific Northwest where the weather is so mild. We don't have humidity, tornados, hurricanes, "bad" storms...the occasional volcano and some rain!...and I HATE bugs. I will never go visit DH's family in the summertime. Thanksgiving and Christmas are nice!!

I have worked in medical forever - lab tech, coding... I have an interview on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Mo - a drive in movie at the beach!!! How fun!!!

Kim - I hope you feel better soon.

Well, I came downstairs to get a new recipe for dinner and got side-tracked. Sorry I'm not online so much these days.

Hi people. :)

I'm Robin. I have another 51 pounds to lose. I have lost about 35 since the beginning of the year. I'd really like to see the last 50 gone by the end of his year. I think that is do-able but not likely for me. :) If I get down to 160-165 for my wedding in January 2007, I'll be happy!

Right now I work out about 3-4 hours of cardio and 1-2 hours of strength training/abs a week. I try to eat low fat, as low as possible but it is hard to stick to. Usually I have one cheat meal a week, with meat, otherwise I try to eat a vegetarian diet the rest of the week. I recently had about 4-5 weeks where I slacked off quite a bit, the only time I gained is when I drank beer. I think there is something to that. :)

So, yeah, that's me. I'm doing this to get healthy and live a longer life, more than anything. Secondary to that, I want to look great again!

slimkim 06-18-2006 12:12 PM

afternoon ladies!!

Mo... I have an above ground round 24 ft pool too! I do laps just back and forth more often... and another good ab exercise is.. i flip from front to back using just my arms no feet and it makes u use your abs to pull them front to baclk and do not touch the bottom with your feet.. I do this awhile and then swimm on my back using only my feet then only arms... nice way to get in some exercise..(hehehe).."Not now honey, I'm ...exercising"

robin wtg so far.. I have more than 50 to lose.. so far I am struggling just trying to lose the first 10!!! grrr.. it is so hard for me..

Nori.. hope all works out well for you.. and I am feeling much better .. i cut out dairy and my gas and bloated has 90% disappeared.. I cannot believe the difference.. well we'll see how my diet shapes up with no cheese, milk, cream sauces, puddings and whip cream, butter... hey there goes most of the food I eat!!! I felt a little bloated and kind of gas after I ate an apple too.. so I will have to watch that too.. I may need to add beano to my diet for some foods.. and make sure it is not just an indicator to a deeper problem.. well you all have a great day!! I have to go ride my bike for exercise.. see ya, Kim

Hi Robin and WELCOME!!! You're doing great so far! How exciting about your upcoming wedding!

Kim - are you seeing a GI doctor? Hope things get better. Is this a new thing?

Well today my parents told us that they are planning on taking the WHOLE family to Kauai next June! I have 6 siblings and some are married with kids, so it'll be a BIG group! But, best of all, I plan to be at my goal weight. I can lose this next 75 pounds in 12 months! I've lost 40 in 5.5 months and the past 2 months I haven't been "gung-ho"!! Even if this plan doesn't happen for some reason, it's given me renewed incentive to go "gung-ho"!!!!!

marinemommyof2 06-19-2006 11:48 AM

Nori - LOL, we have had way more bug problems since we moved to the desert than when we lived in the South. I know, I know, totally not what I expected either!!! I kill an average of 5-6 black widows per month at my house. The new bug is this weird thing, like a silverfish, but black and longer and soooooooo creepy. There are also tons of stinkbugs out here. LOL Scorpions (I know, it's not a bug, but it should count as a bug, because it really bugs me!). Vinegaroons. Tarantulas. Brown spiders. Ants.

Okay - there was my diet tip of the day - talking about all those YUCKY bugs!!!!! LOL And no, I have no defense or comeback about the crazy weather. LOL It is what it is. In Kentucky we had a saying, if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes. LOL

Welcome Robin! Congratulations on your success so far!!!

Kim - great news on learning dairy was the culprit. Don't forget to add back in some soy or rice milk or some kind of substitute for your calcium and vitamins. :)

Nori - OMG about Kauai!!!!!!!! That is so awesome! What a great motivator! You can totally be where you will feel happy and comfortable by then. :)

I started reading Jillian Michael's book last night. I also bought a cd from Amazon about hypnosis and weight loss. I'm hoping to finally make that mind body connection, and do things that are GOOD for my body. I never realized I was an emotional eater until I really noticed when I eat the bad stuff. For example, I never eat a donut for breakfast if I'm not stressed about work.

MoNewEngland 06-19-2006 02:37 PM

Monday

Good morning ladies and welcome Robin!!

Sarah: years ago my mom lost a log of weight after hypnosis. She said you never really fell asleep but I guess it's subliminal. She used to wear an elastic around her wrist and when she was tempted to eat something bad she'd have to snap it to remind her that the food would be hurting her.

Nori: good luck on the interview. When I read your post I though it said Kuwait! Would you mom like to adopt me :^: That is a super incentive. When was vacation too but times is running out for me :(

Kim: do you mean like a somersault or just rocking back and forth in the pool? We're having a problem with the liner and haven't been able to fill the pool up yet, they're coming tomorrow to fix it. The kids hadn't tightened the gasket well enough where the water return is and the liner is sagging there. It's always something. I also have to get a ladder!

Robin: we have the same to lose. You have another great incentive! Where are you from, tell us more about you. I'm nosey!

Serena: my mom is always pushing junk food on my kids too. They went there yesterday and came home with a bag of candy and little cakes. DD ended up with a stomach ache shortly after she left. The Reese's and Twizzlers didn't mix well I guess.

I made DH cookies for Father's Day and they're almost gone already! I made the Cowboy Cookies from allrecipes.com but instead of chips I used toffee bits. Boy they were good! DH made me say I'd never make them again, he couldn't stop eating them. Well it's a scorcher here today. Good to be inside with the A/C on I guess.

Check in tomorrow. It's such a nice feeling to have dinner already done! I should do that every Sunday. I've gotten flack from DH because I only bought him a CD from the kids. I just didn't know what to get him and I never get a chance to shop lately. I've been craving to go to the Christmas Tree Shoppe. Do they have them nationwide? It's not Christmas stuff but just all great deals on all kinds of things.

Ok, I rambled enough!

marinemommyof2 06-20-2006 11:10 AM

Hey Mo! Was your mom able to keep the weight off? So far, I've only listened to the introductory cd which says what self-hypnosis can and can not do. It's really good, basic knowledge on there as well. You know, drink your water, don't talk negatively to or about yourself, etc.

HAPPY TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MoNewEngland 06-20-2006 12:27 PM

Sarah: this was probably 25 years ago and she didn't keep it off but she did lose a bit of weight. She went with my sister and my sister left the doctor's office and stopped at Burger King! I guess it depends on how much you want it.

B: cereal
L: Lean cuisine & brownie
D: Chicken & macaroni salad
S: handful of milkduds and a few jelly candies

My friend and I went to the Christmas Tree Shoppe last night :D

I'll check back later I was just heading to lunch.
