Good Morning, gang . . .
Thought I'd get in here with an early greeting today, but already herds of you have beaten me to it. :D It's warming up a little today. The high is going to be just below freezing. In answer to your question, Garnet. You get used to just about anything when you have to. Actually, if there is a really bad blizzard or an ice storm, a lot of businesses close down anyway. No job is worth risking your life. That is a terrific picture, Robsia. You know, you could lose another couple of pounds by cutting off that gorgeous hair and mailing it to me. I'm a readhead, too, but unfortunately I don't have nearly as much hair as you do. I'm absolutely :p with envy. Your siggie went to "ticker heaven", Mum. Read Suzanne's post at the beginning of every forum. It's tied up with the server change. Have fun making a new one. Anyway, I'm off to the store. My favourite canned soup is on sale for less than 1/2 price so I'm going to stock up for the rest of the winter. Think I'll get a haircut, too. Since mine will never look like Robsia's, I might as well get rid of some of the stragglies and neaten up what little I've got. :D Have a great day. :carrot: |
Hey Ladies,
Just a quick check in.... Cassie, thanks for sharing. I will have to look for those. I get a sweet tooth attack about once a month ;) Paula, thanks for running the numbers... didn't take you long at all. garnetfairy, good to see you back with us... you were missed  You gotta keep checking in with us... we need you as much as you need us. You are never alone as long as we are here. Robsia, great picture and are those your size 16 jeans? ...work it girl! I'll check back later. :grouphug: |
Happy Tuesday!
Hi ladies!
I lost another .5lb, I'm not going to bother changing the ticker as it doesn't show .5, which really sucks! LOL I wish they would fix it so it would show the decimals. My daughter is in preschool so the house is quiet. I just finished my walk on the mill, feeling good! Mum, it's very exciting to see you going gung-ho with the exercise! You go girl and get that body burning those fat cells like an inferno! Barb, 7lbs is fabulous! You're doing great, save some room on cloud nine for the rest of us! LOL Linda, hoping your having a better day today! LittlePony, Welcome to our group! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Lois, for the six week program on the BL workout, your suppose to alternate daily the low intensity and the sculpting workout for the first 3 weeks and then alternate the high intensity and boot camp for the remaining 3 weeks. It took me days to get over the burn in my legs, even walking down the steps and squatting to sit on the can hurt like crazy! hahaha Paula, thanks for the tally! 305lbs is totally fantastic!! Wow, can you imagine we did that, what a motivator! You did good getting your husband to exercise with you, mine sat on the couch downstairs watching TV looking at me once in a while asking how many more minutes! LOL I had to ask him if he were tired of the new healthy lifestyle, cuz on the weekends I drag him to subway, quiznos, or pita pit for lunch. So I know what I'm eating. Saturday lunches were usually chinese! But he's totally supportive! Cheryl, I found icy squares in my underwear drawer yesterday! LOL Don't ask! I called my daughter in to take care of them (there was only 4). Seems like we're both pawning our daughters off as our sweet destroyers! Good luck getting in your exercise today! Cassie, you have made a great decision. Half of the test to this weight loss journey and new lifestyle is being able to control and handle ourselves in situations like that. I'm proud of you! Garnet, I'm happy to see you're on the mend! The best thing we can do for ourselves is to forget all the past hurt and work on our furture happiness. For the past ten years, more so after my daughter was born (she's 4), I've struggled with depression. I had terrible baby blues and I told my mom that it seems like it's only now that I'm getting back to myself. (That's why I said ONE baby is enough!) I used to look at myself in the mirror and cry my eyes out. I couldn't stand looking the way I did, why I was cursed to be fat. I've tried and failed to lose weight but it was always half heartedly. I wasn't really mentally to give it a healthy go. Until now, I actually told my husband that this time round feels different, like I can actually make the mile! And anyone who knows what depression is like knows how important this is. The biggest accomplishment is having a great mind set each day to deal with it. Losing pounds is an added bonus! So it's great to see that your picking yourself up! The only one who can change the way you feel is you, and that my dear is totally obtainable! Keep coming and reporting daily, it's good for you! *HUGS* Good luck with your weigh in and getting to the gym! Robsia, you look amazing! What a pretty girl! Good job, keep it up and you'll be to your goal in no time. Well I got ten minutes left before getting my little girl. So I better change outta my workout clothes and get going. Remember these pants are stretchy, I only assume to really be in this size when I am really close to goal. I gotta long way to go. It would only count if it were jeans. LOL Later all! ~Tina |
ah thanks for that linda, i hardly ever read anything else on the site anymore so hadnt seen the post bout the trackers. hav made a new one now.
done great again today on food and excercise, even said no wen my son wos eating an iced donut Ymmmm lol just hope my scales shows all my hard work on next weigh in day!! tina...i dont care how stretchy that material is a size 14-16 is fabulous!! |
Hi All! I just finished my Upper work-out for today and thought I would check in wih you'll! I think I hurt my back yesterday! I have had trouble with it since my 1st child was born! Epidural  Yikes!!! But it has been feeling so strong since I have started working it! Now, the pain is terrible!!!! OH WELL!! NO Pain No Gain!!! :wl: I will just have to work thru the pain!! UGH!
Tina-:bravo: I think I told you'll I bought some size 16 pants! Those suckers still don't fit in the legs!!! They fit in the waist! I come from a long line of junk in the legs and trunk!!LOL!! I will just have to work harder!!! Mum- I know what you mean about the donut!!! Good for you, staying soooo :strong: strong! Those little devil  donuts are so tempting!! Rosbia-:goodscale: The way you are going you won't need us soon! Pic was great!!! Garnet- We sure do miss you when you are gone!! Don't feel bad I know we all have fallen of the wagon to slim down! Like the others said just pick yourself back up and carry on! We are in your corner!!:cheer: Meowee- I love soup too! Especially the cheesy and creamy kind!!! I think we will have this wonderful cheesy :cheese: brocolli soup for supper!!! It is made with all low calorie stuff!!!! yummy!!:hungry: Cheryl- How is your tooth doing? I will check back in with the rest of you'll later! My laptop is about to die!! Lights are off and batteries don't last like they use too!!lol!! :grouphug: |
Hey, all. I haven't been on for a while due to school and stuff. I gained back the four pounds I lost after the New Year, then lost five, so I figure I'm okay. Just a little slip, right? I'm not on any real fitness plan, per se--just avoiding junk food and eating less portions. Recently, I've started meditation. That occupies my mind for a while and keeps me from eating too! :D
It'll be nice when the weather gets warmer and I can start going for more walks. I went on one yesterday in the freezing temperatures, and I couldn't feel my legs by the time I got home! lol |
Barb - I just got a book about the GI plan, I was thinking of using that with my South Beach plan. They should be pretty similar. But I like to have more information than was in the SB book.
Robsia - tweet tweet you sure look sweet. Are you sure you belong on this thread?? You look so good!! Mum - You mentioned wanting to lose weight for you and your son. I too want to lose weight for myself and my son. I have always felt that he was a little ashamed of how big his mom is, I would like to give him a mom to be proud of one day. Plus I need to lose it for myself before I get diabetes, I dont want that! My ticker dissappeared too! I was wondering, before I set up a new one. Since my start weight was 305.8, can I round that up to 306 since the tickers dont do fractions?? If so, I have lost 21 pounds now because at weigh in I lost what I had gained this month. I think I will. So change me to 21 pounds down, please momma!! meowee - I was just wondering if people got paid if they were not allowed to travel roads to get to work or if y'all just have to suffer during the winter. I have never lived north of Montgomery Texas which is not very far, about 150 miles to the gulf coast. I hope you like your haircut as much as I like mine. I got it cut at a different place this time and I love it! My son and I both got our hair cut there last week. Lois - thanks for the hugs and encouragement. Tina - I appreciate your advice and that you took time to say so much to me. I have clinical depression, the whole imbalance in my brain thing amoung other diagnoses. I take a lot of psych meds. Which makes it hard for me to care enough about something to do anything about it. But I am managing to care about losing weight longer than usual. I lost 19 pounds in January and it has been 1 pound in February if you dont count the 1.5 I gained and lost again. Anyway, getting back on these threads is building back up my motivation to do well with this weight loss thing. I did go to the gym today so I do feel much better. Got another workout in my room moving furniture and vacuuming and changing everything around. I think I might have sweated more in my room than I did at the gym. ha ha mama - sorry to hear about your back injury! My son fractured a vertebrae in his back but never went to the doctor because he though it was just back pain from bullriding. When he was in the Army he kept having back pain and they took an xray and said he had a fracture that had healed improperly. So be very careful about your back! fourwinds - you might consider buying a walking at home tape. Leslie Sansone has many. You plug it in the vcr/dvd player and start walking in place, there are some other moves to work other muscles and keep you interested too. Some of her videos even use weights. You can get them cheaper on ebay than from her website. Walmart is cheaper than her website, or try a used bookstore that carries vhs/dvds. I worked out today at the gym for a good hour and a half. Had a good sweat going. Then I just finished rearranging and vacuuming my room and had an even better sweat going. Now it is time to relax. Stayed on program today, hurray! Now for tomorrow... |
Hey everyone! Had a pretty busy day today! It's my son's first birthday, and he had a great time. We are having his party this Saturday, but today we let him open one gift and took him and my brother (who will be 5 tomorrow) out to eat. We went to Burger King, and, well....I didn't order what I meant to order.:( But oh well, tomorrow is a new day, I am NOT going to beat myself up over it!
Sorry to hear about you back, MAMA4DMKD! What kind of workouts are you doing? Rosbia-Your pic looks GREAT! Fourwinds, I bought Walk Away The Pounds today! I plan to start it tomorrow, so I will let you know what I think about it...the weather has been SO cold here, too! So tomorrow I go to see the Cardiologist about the heart palpitations I was having....I am feeling nervous about it, but not as bad as I was a few days ago. I guess deep down I am sure I am going to be okay, I just need to lose this weight, and I am already quitting smoking....this is day 8 without a cigarette!:carrot: |
Cassie
Cassie- I am doing a little of this and a little of that on my exercises! Monday I work the core strength training(which is what hurt my back) and Tae Bo ( only about 20 to 30 minutes so far) on tuesday upper body strength training and more Tae Bo, Wednesday's are lower strength training and Tae Bo. Then Thursdays I start over! But I take it easy on the weekends! I don't get mad at myself if I skip on the weekends!
I wish I could quit smoking too! I just can't do both at the same time! That is my next goal after I lose this extra me!! lol! I know it is not very funny but I have to do the best I can! We are counting down the days until one of my twins goes the the Shriners Hospital. I am sooo nervous that they will want to do surgery or something to her! I just can't give up all my bad habits at one time! But I am so proud of you! Keep up the good work! You will be in my prayer's tomorrow! Please let us know what is going on!! Garnet- When my son was born they pierce my spinal cord with the needle at the hospital! They told me I would have trouble with it for the rest of my life! So what I am going thru is just normal for me! URG! Plus the extra weight does not help!! |
Well . . . Hello everybody . . .
I'm having one of those "but I did everything right and still got a bad result" kind of days. The Digital Demon  is living in my scale this morning. I must have tried 25 times to get a consistent number out of the thing and it's all over the place -- everything from down 3 to up 2. So, much as I like the down 3, I've decided on "stayed the same", because that is definitely better than up 2. I know, I've said it many times . . . this too will pass. In answer to your question, Garnet. It kind of depends on the individual employer and the type of job you have. As a general rule of thumb: -- If you get paid for overtime, you probably don't get paid for snow days. If you are expected to work unpaid overtime when needed, then you probably do get paid for snow days. Basically, most companies treat snow days like sick days. BTW, it is snowing this morning, but not enough that should keep anyone home from work. We are (according to the radio) only expecting to get about an inch -- just enough to make everything look clean and pretty without causing any major problems. Have a great day, everybody . . . :carrot: |
Mama, hope ur back is ok. and hope wotever ur twin is going to hospital for is ok and not too serious. its prob best to do one thing at a time, concentrate on the weight for now, trying to do to much ie givin up smokin too will just put too much pressure on u.
i think i over did it yesterday, iv been doing 50situps per day but do half in morning and other half in evening. yesterday i did them all in the morning felt fine wen wos doing them, but this morning my stomach muscles were pleading wiv me for a day off lol. still doin my tread and airwalker but gonna hav a day off from situps and go back to doing them in the morn and eve. Cassie, happy birthday hugs for ur son. and well done on 8days wiv no ciggies! anf good luck at the docs tomorow we'll be thinking of u, make sure u check in and let us know how it goes. Garnet, ur doin fantastic on the excercise! an hour and half in gym-wow! i also suffer from depression, have been on prozac for a few years now. i hear ya bout wanting ur son to be proud, my lil guy is 6years old and i so much want to be able to run round the park with him or kick a ball about wiv him. i see other parents playing with their kids at the park and im just sat on the bench completly wiped out just from walking to the park and it makes me so sad that he's missing out on stuff because of wot i have done to myself letting myself get this way. but thats all changing now, i am gonna be thin, i am gonna be fit, i am gonna play football wiv my son, i am gonna make him proud of me, i am gonna make sure no more kids say gosh ur mums really fat to him, i am gonna be able to go for a walk and not be completly shattered dripping wiv sweat and hardly able to breathe, i am gonna see people i havnt seen for years and not have them go f***ing **** wot happened to u (and thats just the ones that recognise me) right while im feeling all motivated im gonna get my butt off the computer chair and on that treadmill, catch y'all laters. |
Thank you, everyone! I was worried about quitting smoking while losing weight, because I thought I was taking on too much at once, and everyone told me that quitting makes you gain weight...but I thought I might as well try, and I am doing much better than I thought! I do miss smoking a bit, but I know that quitting is the right thing for me to do. All of you that are smoking, don't fret! You'll quit, I have faith!;)
Mama- Sorry to hear your child has to go to the hospital! I hope it's nothing too serious and that everything turns out okay. I didn't have an epidural with either of my kids because I have always been too scared to have a needle in my back....so scared I was willing to deal with the pain of natural childbirth! LOL! Meowee-I hate that DIGITAL DEMON! He is SUCH a meanie! I have been taking the lowest weight and claiming it as mine. Speaking of lowest weight, I have MY lowest weight this morning, after eating BAD at Burger King! LOL! I was down to 279.5! WOW! Perhaps I should go on the Whopper diet, lmao! I will update you all on what the cardiologist says when I get home! Have a GREAT day! |
mornin' girls....
Checking in early today! Tina, great job on dropping another .5! :cheer: It's always motivating when that number goes down. :goodscale: I finally finished reviewing the BL workouts. I have not done any more of them yet... but I am going to work them into my daily workouts. Bob is intense! ha ha. AndrewsMum, glad you had a good day! You must of had :dust: sprinkled on you... I have to avoid the sight of donuts, I can't look at one without wanting to taste it! Hope you had a good walk on the :tread: Paula, go easy on your back, I know that feeling oh too well. You don't want to cause any further injury and find yourself side lined. I hope things go well with your little one... I will be sending positive thoughts your way. fourwings, good to see you posting. Yep it's just a slip. I'm waiting for some warmer temps myself so I can get out and walk... way too cold right now for me. brrrrrrr garnet, wow great job on the exercise :strong: You are doing so good... you wanna come and rearrange my room... ha ha ha. Keep up the good work girl! Cassie, oh how nice that your son is having his first b-day :woo: I remember those days. Congrats on that low :goodscale: I hope things go well with your appt. We will be looking for an update on how things go. :goodluck: Linda, hey, could it be the batteries? Just stick with all that good work and I'm sure you'll work the  demons  out of that scale! Barb, hope you're enjoying your day off, maybe you'll get to try out that stepper! :D I got my workout in this morning... I think doing it in the mornings has worked better for me than the evenings, so I am going to try and go back to the morning workouts.... also I feel so much better throughout the day knowing I've done the workout and if I choose, I can add another in the evenings. After that first BL workout, the next day I felt a little stiff so I went back to the WATP. I also had taken the weekend off from exercise when I normally take a day. Not sure if it were that of the BL workout, but when I went back to my WATP last night, I could only do a mile. :( Thankfully this morning I made it through the entire workout but it was challenging :workout: I'm still feeling the burn :flame: Hope everyone has a good day and I will check back later. :grouphug: |
Lois the time difference always confuzzles me..ur saying good morning and its 4 in the afternoon here lol
Barb it was a ring donut wiv stawberry icing and sprinkles yummmm meowee might be worth changing the batteries but yeah i hate that demon too! well just a quick check back in, im all snuffley so have stayed home all day. had a slip earlier, andrew was eating chocolate and he passed me a bit and without thinking i popped it straight in my mouth it was only wen he offererd me a 2nd piece that i realised wot i had done! i jokingly said to him "argh ur trying to ruin my diet dont u want mummy to be skinny" and he said the cutest thing.."but mummy ur not as fat as u used to be coz ur doing so much excercising" so im taking that as my 1st nsv (really theres no difference he was just being nice but still its fab to hear!!) |
My goodness . . . where is everybody . . . we've slipped off to the second page.
Thanks for the helpful thoughts, gang. One of the things I always liked about this scale was the fact that it was digital but didn't need a battery. I think it is just getting old. I do have another scale which is big, clunky, ugly and strictly mechanical and I have trouble seeing the dial on it except for the big numbers. The scale I'd really like to have is one of those gigantic "balance bar" things that the health clubs, etc. use. Trouble is, I really don't want to add another room to my house right now. The best advice I've seen about digital scales is to weight 3 times and take the average . . . Now if I could just follow it. Have a good evening. :carrot: |
