Welcome Alisha & Akita! Jump right in, glad to have you both with us and congrats to you both on your weight loss so far!!
Karen, I LOVE my ipod so far. I got the new 30gb one with a color screen in black and it's wonderful so far. I have 883 songs on it and it can hold 7500, it also can have pictures and video on it, which is pretty cool! The only thing that sucks so far is apple doesn't have many accessories which are made for the new one yet, but I'm sure by christmas they will. I went to buy a case for it today and they don't even have those out yet! But I'd reccomend it (so far!!).
I was SSSOOOOO stressed watching the Astros game today (game 3 of the world series), they ended up losing 7-5 against the white sox in the 14th inning. It was CRAZY, it lasted over five hours! Oh well, at least we got to the world series, first time ever!!
Hope you're all having a good week!!! Time for some sleeeeeeeep.
I want the numbers on my scale to hurry up and go DDDOOOWWWWNNNNN! I need to work harder so that can happen!
Anyone know when we are supposed to hit our 'plateaus' ?? is it halfway through our weightloss? 3 months into dieting?? ... just thought it would be good if i can get somekind of general idea of it so i prepare for it lol that will probably be the hardest time for me. If i dont keep seeing progress I get really discouraged and start eating tons again. SO im really trying to prevent that from happening. .. im guessing though that everyone is different when it comes to plateaus.. i just hope mine isnt that long
Hi! I hope you have room for another! My name is Torrey and I'm 31 and I have lost 5 lbs. and have about 55 (at minimum to go). Like most, I guess, I have been on just about every diet and am not a newbie to this wonderful site.
Kind of at a loss though, b/c in the past I have posted on the WW site, b/c that was what I was doing at the time (1 - points & 1 - CORE), these were both great programs. And so were Atkins, BFL, South Beach, Sugarbusters, and a host of others. So, I was excited that you "general" support group was available.
When I'm "good", I'm very good. I've had trainers, done my own workout and have seen amazing results. However, once I start losing, I get too comfortable and/or I get bored and totally blow it.
So, now I've decided to do my own thing. And take it slow. I do need support and this is where you guys come in. I love my friends and family, but they are not the best in following a weight program, most of them can't stay on one themselves. I have decided to focus on healthy eating, rather than a diet, using the principles that I value from other programs and successful weight losers, i.e. 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day, no more than 1600 cals, with about 30% of them from fat. I have started splitting my plate, 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbohydrate. I am eating more veggies and fruit and replacing high sugar and fatty desserts with fruit or better choices. And water, lots and lots of water.
I'm sick of looking and feeling this way. Yet, I am sick of making eating so complicated and not enjoying what I'm eating.
I also need to workout. I used to do the whole gym and weight thing and am not so focused on that right now. Just want to ease into this "experiment", by walking, or HIIT, yoga, pilates and strength training using resistance bands, light weights and the stability ball.
That's me in nutshell. I am so impressed with all that you all have accomplished! I hope that it rubs off!
Hello! I hope you don't mind me joining as well. My name is Kelli, I'm 23 years old and living in Colorado!
I've struggled w/ weight all my life, always the little chunky kid and then the chunky teen and so on. It doesn't help that my job is SITTING ON MY BUTT (billing office) so I know, it's just an excuse but you know sometimes after work the last thing you are thinking about is working out but I have gotta change my ways here ... I'm very motivated to do so and can't wait to start losing weight.
Right now I'm at 190 lbs and I'm only 5'2 well actually I'm 5'1 and 1/2 if you wanna get technical hahaha but I'm short and so there aren't a lot of places to hide the fact that I'm overweight. Anyway, my goal is to get down to 125 lbs which is 60 lbs ... I love how you guys have smaller goals because 125 sounds SOOOOOOOOOO far away that's probably why I always give up in the past. How do you set reasonalbe goals (like losing X amount of weight by Halloween or Thanksgiving or any holiday?) for yourselves?
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and get to know you girls! You all sound fabulous from what I've read!
Hi Torrey & Kelli - Welcome! You both sound very motivated! Thx for joining us. This board has helped me lose over 20 lbs now, so I hope it will be a good resource for you too. Lots of support, understanding, advice, etc....it's awesome.
Akita - Hello! For me I have had peaks and valley's during my weight loss......I think the plateau thing is really individual and depends on the amount of weight you are looking to lose as well as how active your metabolism is. I started to slow my weight loss down after coming half way to my goal. I think it just started to pick up a little though.......that's why I think it's so important to change up your calorie intake every few days and change up your exerise routine.....always keep your body guessing and it won't really have much time to stall!
Im just surprised at how well my metabolism must be going. I really dont do much exercise yet. The most I do is some walking and maybe some dancing. Im sure once i lose more weight Ill be able to keep up with more exercise easier, just right now i need a good butt kicking to get me really into it LOL... I just started up with weights, and even with that Im not up to doing much of it. I think right now my main goal is to really stick with my diet, how well im eating. I figure if i mainly focus on that and slowly get some exercise in when I feel like it, the weight will come off sooner or later Im just surprised at how well ive been doing already! I guess the diet makes the biggest difference to me!
Hi Kelli & Torrey! *waves* hope you stick around, the more the better
anyone already making plans to what changes will need to be made around the holidays in Dec? lol ... I think I will be more successful with my eating habits if i start figuring out my plan now lol
My name is Nicole. I'm a SAHM and college student. This is my first real attampt at losing weight. Somehow in the past 7 years since I graduated high school, I've managed to pack on almost 100 lbs! My metabolism sure isn't where it used to be. I'm also sure having 2 babies 15.5 months apart in the last 25 months didn't help things. I've started working out at the gym 3-4 times a week, doing cardio and weight training, and 3 days a week at home doing pilates and belly dancing. My dh and I have changed our eating too. No dieting though, just healthy eating. We've cut out most of the junk, added lots of fruits and veggies, and are watching our portion size. I started on the 17th at 215 lbs and a size 14 or 16. So far I've lost 3 lbs. I want to feel comfortable wearing a bikini next May when we go on vacation.
Just wanted to check in. Wow! This group is growing....This is wonderful! Trying to stay on track today. Hope to check in again!
Nicole: You sound so moviated!!!! What a great start. I am a SAHM too and like you had two kids with in three years... They are 2years and 11 days apart. You are getting me going....Thanks!
Need to read the other posts....I am having a buzy day..... Hope everyone is doing well.
