Hello everyone  How's it going? I'm doing fantastic :) Reason? Scott has been booted off of American Idol! I am sooooooooooooooooooooo happy! Now the real singers can finish the battle.

I have eaten one time today - a small crisis happened and we never had time to eat - but when we did eat, I made excellent choices - :D

ashavison 05-04-2005 10:01 PM

Hello PICers,
Well I had my weigh in and I lost 2 lbs, and then I went for a Walk. A small start, to a giant journey!!
I agree with the others that finding this thread has made such a difference in what I am doing. I have people to talk to that do not judge, and understand what I face everyday!! Thank you all for being here.
2 lbs in a week, is huge for me, and I think it's because of reading your posts and being inspired to join you!
Thank You!

smilesarepriceless 05-04-2005 11:33 PM

looking2lose - Thanks. i too am gonna start journaling as of TODAY. It does make a big difference in helping me see what I am really eating.....You have a great sense of humor too.

momX3 & petra65 -You are so right---i have come to terms with i just CANNOT do the low/no carb thing long term and I am not wanting to set myself up for FAILURE but rather ---SUCCESS!

ashavison - Congrats on your 2 lbs loss! Every single pound counts..That is almost half a bag of sugar ( and those 5 lbs bags are nothing to laugh at).

Tomorrow, my goal is to MAKE WATER a priority. I currently drink no water..and when i drink it is when i eat, and it is often SODA! SPank me. But i did try diet cherry coke last night and it was pretty tasty. I personally hate diet sodas, but hope the one coming out with splenda tastes a little better...

WE CAN DO THIS GALS!

Hi my PIC beauty queens.. wholey moley!!!!!!!! :fr: .. I am just so excited that there are so many people on this thread... you guys make it sooo motivational for me.. well.. lunch seemed to have gone pretty well.. I ordered grilled shrimp and rice pilaf.. and I even ate the 2 hush puppies that it came with.. ;) i feel a little guilty not knowing the exact nutritional content of my meal, but when I spoke to the corporate office they told me that all their food used cholesterol free oil, and on the grilled shrimp the use just a "teeny tiny smidgen of butter" (her words exactly) and that the rice had no butter or oil.. I estimated my totals for the day to be
fat = 24.5
calories = 1035

I used my handy dandy calorie king book and used the counts for fried shrimp just to be safe so my total is probably a little less, but I'd rather be on the safe side..

ashavison: GREAT JOB!!! :cp: 2 pounds!! that is so awesome.. keep up the good work..

kclay61: I'm sorry to hear you had a crisis... :( but very proud of you for making good decisions on what you did eat.. :D

no matter what we do.. the pounds will never come off as fast as we would like.. if we think about it.. the diet we started 2 years ago wasnt showing results fast enough, so we gave it up and decided we would be fat forever, then a couple of weeks later we started another diet.. well if we really think about it, if we would have stuck to that diet we started 2 years ago, we would be at goal..

smilesarepriceless: Hey hun!! thanks for being so honest and sharing your journal with us.. just a thought but maybe next time you can try the grilled chicken sandwich and a salad?? and if you have to have the fish sandwich.. (which by the way 1 has 20 grams of fat and 405 calories) just order one.. eat it.. wait 15 minutes and if you are still hungry get something else.. but usually it's just all in our heads.. we've gotten into such bad habits that we don't listen to our bodies and we don't realize how satisfied we are until we clean off our plates and think.. oh no.. i'm sooo stuffed I can hardly breathe.. trust me, I'm the president of that club.. you can do it.. I believe in you..

looking2lose: how dare they tempt you with your drug of choice (m&m's).. ha ha.. well I must say, that I am very proud of you for only eating one cookie.. it takes baby steps.. and holding back from taking that bag of m&m's to your desk is a big accomplishment.. you cant go on a diet and give up everything you love because you will not stay on that diet.. the key is moderation.. be proud of yourself.. I am.. :high:

Good Evening/Morning PIC !!

I am happy to report that my shopping trip went well. On Friday night I had picked up some Capri pants, so got some bright tops today and I am all ready for the summer.

Other than that I had a very quiet day... loving being on holidays, although it will be back to work on Monday and kicking my self in the butt to get on track.

LOOKING2LOSE ~ good for you for only have one cookie ! I don't know if I could have been that disciplined :encore:

SMILESAREPRICELESS ~ sometimes all it takes it to write down what you eat. If you are embarrassed about writing it then chances are next time you will think twice about eating it. Even if no one sees your journal it can have a real effect on choices. Good luck with the water .. it really does help (and think of all the exercise you will get running to the bathroom.. hehehe).

MOMX3 ~ you are so right about picking something that you can stick with. Everything works when you first start off, but if you can stick with it long term then you just do the yo-yo thing (I am all too familiar with that plan!!)

WORKIT ~ Unfortunately life throws us some curve balls that throw us off our schedule. As long as you don't let this interuption throw you right off then just take is as a well deserved break. You will be back to it in no time and a big congratulations on your 2 lbs. You go girl !!! :cb:

KCLAY ~ i just watched Idol and yes it was definately time for Scott to go. It was only a matter of time. Now I will see if I stay up to watch the "fallen idol" special about the alleged affair....

ASHAVISON ~ 2 lbs.. WOOOHOOOO... Well done we are so proud of you ! Keep up the good work :dancer:

DEEROD ~ Sounds like you made a great choice at lunch. Well done, you have been doing so great !! :queen:

Time for me to head off.. don't want to turn into a pumpkin..okay maybe too late.. LOL (no I am not that round !!)

TTYS and keep on keeping on !!!

jennie934 05-05-2005 09:26 AM

Hi ladies,
just a quick checking in. Things are going well. I had a good day yesterday. I was really busy so I couldn't get in any snacking! I got up this morning and excersised because i know today will be to busy to get to the gym.
Good job to everyone, I 'm glad we have each other to keep ourselves motivated.
Jennie

looking2lose 05-05-2005 09:35 AM

Good Morning team PIC!!

Sounds like everything is kicking off to a great start!! Whoo-Hoo.

CLIPCLOP congrats on the shopping, sounds like you were successful (Just being able to leave the store with something a bag you are happy with is delightful. YAY!)

SMILES kudos to you for your journey of water. That is one thing I am really working on myself, and it is working out...my cubicle is 2 feet from the restroom, so I am a lucky water-chugging girlie (and learning to sprint in the process, lol)

MOMX3 I hear you, yo-yoing is my specialty. I did lose 100 pounds really fast like 2 years ago doing Atkins and being very prudish in what I ate (which was very, very little and not enough) and when I started to eat sensible regularly portioned meals I packed my weight back on faster than a clearance sale at Lane Bryant). Just have to find my groove now (with you gals on my side...I'm feeling better than I have in a long time).

WORKIT & ASHA big applause on the weight loss!! That is awesome. I weight in on Monday, so we will see. I am tempted to step on that scale everytime I get up to run to the bathroom, but then I think my company would have to my computer in there (since I spend so much time in there anyway).

KCLAY I am sooo happy Scott is gone too. The boy can sing, he just gets too darn nervous, and was starting to get a little sassy for his own britches.

DEEROD great job finding some good choices for lunch. I hope you had a good time with your friends. You are really doin' awesome girl, keep it up.

Will finish up an entry later. To all the rest of our ever-growing group Have a wonderful day, fill up those water mugs, and put the pedal to metal. WE CAN DO IT (2gether). I can hear the bosses footsteps (clickety-clack, clickety clack go them heels). a.k.a. the Shephard of the cubefarm.

Take care gals. TTYS. Have a wonderful day.

dizzylizzy 05-05-2005 10:47 AM

Hello everybody, I think I've finally figured out how to get in here!! Yesterday I put another post back in my original one, which I now realise was the wrong way to do it!!
I've never done this before so you'll have to bear with me!! I got through my first day ok, but was hungry and thinking about food all the time. I find I'm fine until I put something in my mouth and then once I've eaten something the cravings start. One thing I noticed though was that I slept better last night than I have for a long time, I guess because my belly wasn't so stuffed with food!!

Thank you Momx3, ClipClop and MoonRay for your encouragement it's nice to know there are people 'out there' that understand. I thank you so much for offering me a 'home' and a chance to be part of your group, I will be very proud to become a "Partner in Crime"!!

I guess I should tell you a little bit about me, so here goes:
Name: Liz
Location: St John's, Newfoundland, Canada - this is home, originally from London, England.
Age: 49 - at least for another month!!
Marital Status: Married, one son aged 24
Starting Weight: 325lbs - I put 320lbs yesterday but didn't know how to change it!!
Goal Weight: First of all to get to 299lbs
My ambitions: To fit in an airplane seat without a seat belt extension, to NOT be the fattest person in the room, to dance on the edge of the dance floor instead of trying to hide in the middle and to like what I see in the mirror!! That will do for starters, I have loads more, ha ha
Current diet: None, been there, done that and bought the video with just about every diet going, now I'm trying to focus on eating normal size portions of good healthy food that I will enjoy and will hopefully satisfy me. I'm thinking if I enjoy what I eat it will help me to stick with it. I love to cook and to experiment so at least planning my meals and trying to make healthier versions of old favourites will occupy my thoughts with food, it seems I'm ALWAYS thinking about what I can eat next so maybe this way I can put it to good use!!
Pets: 2 cats, Oscar and Felix - The Odd Couple
Hobbies: Cooking - wouldn't you know it!! Reading - love a good mystery, thriller, biography or just about anything really, I love to travel - even with the seat belt extension, ha ha.

I can't think of anything else - if there's anything you want to know just ask!

Well I've made it to my second day, I feel that's an achievement, I even think today will be a little easier than yesterday thanks to your support!!! Once again, THANK YOU.

dizzylizzy 05-05-2005 10:49 AM

Hmmmm, what happened to my weight tracker?

Louie 05-05-2005 11:33 AM

GDay my fellow PIC,

Too early to report much this morning, although I have been over on the Buddy board greeting new members. I feel like I am recruiting for some weightloss cult.. but I know what a great group this is and the more the merrier !!

JENNIE ~ Great job at getting your workout in.. again. You are really sticking with it, good for you :sunny:

LOOKING2LOSE ~ Yes, it is great to be able to find something that fits without looking like it was made at the tent shop !! Have a great day and no kicking string bean butts !!! :D

DIZZYLIZZY ~ so glad you found us !! You will find this is a great group of wonderful and supportive women. Lean on us when you need to, we are here to listen and help where we can :listen: As for you weight tracker, not sure what happened... did you just cut and paste ?? it looks like you have some link in there ??

Well my friends I am off to have some breaky. TTYS my partners !

momX3 05-05-2005 12:50 PM

Morning my friends :coffee:. Hope everyone is well today. I dropped the 2 oldest kids off at school and the youngest at day care and then came home to relax because I am not feeling well :( . I'm hoping to feel better by tomorrow because my grandpa is having surgery (he has colon cancer:cry: )and I want to be there.

Anyway....

moon - I'm so glad you found your home here.

workit - try not to feel guilty when you can't work out sometimes it just can't be helped just get right back at it when you can :wl:.

ashavision - Congrats on the 2 lbs :cheer:. Now look whos inspiring :D.

smiles - nothing beats water when you are trying to lose weight so drink up.

kclay - I hope all is well with you. Good job on your eating yesterday. Sometimes life makes it hard :s: but you managed to get through it.

deerod - Your right I would have been there so many times if I could have just stuck to it. I am trying to be patient this time and realize that it is just going to take time. I may not like it but that is how it goes .

clipclop - I was on buddy to. I just want people to know when they first sign up that there are people out there in the same boat and we will be there to help if they need anything.

Jennie - good for you exercising already :workout:.

looking2lose - You still make me smile :D everytime I read a post. Sometimes I feel really silly laughing out loud because I'm not sharing our "talks" with anyone so they just don't get it. How's everything else going for you?

dizzy - Welcome girl :grouphug:. Glad to see you made it.

I am going to go lay down now. I hope you all have a great day!!!

looking2lose 05-05-2005 02:25 PM

Good afternoon: I've been doing really good. Not starving and the m&ms are nowhere to be found, nor do I see any round, colored objects resembling them. hee hee.

Drinking my water. I've spread it throughout the day, so I am not guzzling it until my eyes are floating. It is not my TOM, but Im feelin all bloated and puffy. Maybe its the material in this shirt I got on, but my spare tire around my middle feels like it sticking out like the stripe on Charlie Brown's shirt! Yowzers. Is that normal to feel all kind of puffy? (maybe i'm in denial that my usually 1-size-too-large super-comfy shirt, is now my fitting-like-a-glove favorite shirt).

I haven't had a lot of salt today. Had my 1/2-cup of oatmeal & apple for breakfast, lunch was ham, turkey, and provolone on white roll, and no snack as of yet, because im really not hungry. I just feel all poofy all over...hmm.

Other than that, working hard at trying to work hard...Take care all. TTYS.
Hugs to all!!

deerod 05-05-2005 02:36 PM

Hello my PIC CHICKS.. how are you all doing today??

momX3: Im sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.. try drinking some vitamin C.. and I hope all goes well with your Grandpa..

Clipclop & momx: I go to the buddy list too.. ha ha.. because i know there are other people out there who need our help.. and there is just something about every body that has joined us here, that gives this thread a warm feeling.. you never feel like you have to prove yourself or out do eachother.. and that is one of the main keys that keep me going..

dizzylizzy: I'm glad you found us.. Welcome aboard.. and CONGRATS on making it through your first day..

jennie934: I'm so proud of you for excersizing this morning.. gosh how i wish I could do that.. oh well.. at least I do it at night..

************ 12 days till weigh in :crossed: ************

deerod 05-05-2005 02:50 PM

I dare you!!

I'm stealing this idea from a friend of mine whom originally posted "I challenge you"... I hope she doesnt mind, but I think its a great idea.. I think we should dare eachother to do thing that will help us get healthy.. so I'll go first...

I dare all of you PIC CHICKS.. to dedicate 30 minutes to walking today.. it can be around the block, around your house, or locking yourself in the bathroom and walking in place.. but you CAN NOT count grocery shopping or time you are already walking (ex: it took me 2 minutes to walk to my car :nono: ) you have to actually say.. I am going to do my 30 minutes of walking right now..

Who's in???

looking2lose 05-05-2005 03:09 PM

:cb:Count me in!! :cb:

I double-dog-dare-you!! :tread:
