Good morning everyone,
Just browsing through as I do sometimes. Keeping all the unwell people in my thoughts and hope that things pick up soon.
A hematoma is a very bad bruise. Usually bruises the bone as well. Had one in my leg once from when I slipped in the bath. It took ages for the swelling to subside and I still have a black mark below the knee from 2 years ago.
Tried the candles and have lit one and watched it float away. Very peaceful.
Hugs to all. Mooz is very quiet isn't she??? Hope all is well at her place.
Hello Ladies,
We're finally getting the rain that we could really use. Unfortunately I had taken off today to get things done outside. Guess I'll do some things inside.
Cat - So sorry to hear about your accident. Glad no one was hurt though.
Shad - thanks for dropping by. Yes, Mooz has been quite lately. Hopefully we'll hear from her soon.
Just a quick note to let you know I am hanging in there. Dietwise, not too good, however, it has something to do with stress. I did go bowling today and actually did quite well--to me this was a great stress reliever. Gene is doing a whole lot better and may be moved to the rehab center in the next couple of days. I checked the one out right on the hospital grounds and it really seems very nice. It's not like a nursing home and it even smelled good. Also, our Bichon, Tiffany, gets to visit him as well. It all depends on his progress as to how long it will take. Two weeks at the least and perhaps 30 or more days!
Cat -- Sorry to hear about your accident--so glad you weren't injured. I know how stressful this must be and I most definitely will keep you in my prayers.
I embroidered a bib for a teddy bear I had that said: "Gene Get Well Soon!" He really liked it and I also did a get well card with Tiffany's picture on the front, now at least he can brag about his precious friend! I was going to start cleaning house but I thought doing this would be more worthwhile.
Well ladies I will close for now. Thanks for all your wishes.
Hello Chicks~~
Just dropping by for a quick post.
Nita~~ glad things are looking up for you-n-DH. I bet he was pleased to get the card and gift too. You will have other days to do the cleaning and keep occupied. And it was good for you to do the bowling...got your mind off things for awhile. That is great that this place will allow visits from our canine friends. It does help the patient to see them.
Do Take Care!
~~1DAY~~ saw on the weather how hot it is all over Texas, no wonder rain has shown up to go w/the heat/humidity thing. It is supposed to rain here, starting later tomorrow and raining thru most of holiday weekend...if not all! very typical! People plan but weather is usually bad for holidays it seems!
~~CAT~~ glad you are ok, sorry to hear about the car accident. We came close to rear ending a few too many times in AZ...all that traffic it's a wonder it doesn't happen more often. I always say 'thank God the brakes are new and in good shape' and 'the brake places must do a good business here!!' ...as it must be hard for it all to work so quickly and stop all that weight of the vehicle in time! Just glad you and anyone else was o.k.
MOOZ~~~ are you out there? miss those posts. Hope to hear from you soon.
We went motorcyling today, as it was 70 and probably the last of the heat for awhile agin. Back down to 50's or so for the next 3 days at least! YIKES!!
Dishes and cleaning will be there for me tomorrow anyway!
Nita--glad DH is doing better. Hope this place works out--being able to have visits from the dog I bet would really encourage him.
Just went over to visit a friend in the new Cardiac Evaluation Center. They've found that heart patients don't do as well in the hustle and bustle of the ER, and this is nice and quiet--quite a nice addition to the community. Of course, he insists he hasn't had a heart attack--hope he's right.
Nita - glad to here Gene is doing better. I think that is great that they allow pets at the center. I'm sure Gene will be happy to Tiffany. I'm sure all the stress from this past week has caused havoc on your eating. You just need to handle it the best way you can. Glad your able to get your bowling in. Will keep you and Gene in my prayers.
Thin - we're due for rain this holiday too. I"m hoping to get out early tomorrow morning to a Artfest show, I want to beat the heat and the rains. I can't believe how cool it still is up in your area. Hope you had a good ride.
Cat - Hope your friend's doing ok.
As for me, not doing to well on my eating. I had taken two days vacation and I guess I took a vacation from watching what I eat. And tomorrow If I go to the art show i know there will be all kinds festival foods there. Oh, well I get back on track after the holiday.
Just a quick note to let you know I am thinking about you! Just got back from the Rehab Center and Gene got checked in about 4:00 p.m., just in time for his dinner. I did take the dog and she was beautiful since I had her groomed today by a new groomer who did an excellent job. Gene was thrilled to see her but she was more interested in checking out the rest of the patients. It was great to see how just seeing and petting this little dog made them smile! Actually she was more calm with the strangers than she was with Gene. We decided I would only bring her every other day! Tomorrow he should be evaluated. I do believe he is thinking positive and that is what it will take and a lot of hard physical work.
I did attend the WW meeting last evening and since it was in the evening I did show a gain of 2 lbs. However, I stayed for the meeting and came home with quite a few tips. I really liked the leader--she was short like myself and has taken off 80 lbs. I am sure most of you are aware that those National Hebrew Franks--the 97% fat free ones--they only count as 1 pt. and if you add the Lite Wonder Bread Hot Dog Buns, they are only 1 more point. Also a lot of us use the George Foreman grill and the leader grills her veggies on her grill in a special round teflon pan that has holes on the bottom. She says they turn out wonderful! I am going to try and find one of those pans.
Wishing all of you ladies a "super" holiday weekend!
Hey, we are almost at the end of the month. Is there someone savvy enough to start a new thread for June?
I went to our local walk-in clinic (what some call a "doc in the box), and the dr there said it was FINE for me to walk etc. as long as the pain was OK. And she put me on antibiotic again. Hooray, hooray!! I actyally walked the dog this afternoon.
Didn't go as long as usual so as not to stress leg, but still it was so nice to be out on this beautiful day.
If Mooz is not back by the end of the month, would you like me to start your new thread? Do you have a new one every month??
Glad to hear that your DH is settling in Nita. Being able to take the dog along will make a huge difference to him - and it is amazing how much better people feel when there is an animal around the place. I think it is the unconditional love that they give to us humans. Wish we all did the same.
I hope everyone is okay or on the mend if not okay.
Hi I'm back! ........ not that I was away anywhere! ........ just seem to have very little time on the computer lately.
Shad if you feel like it and have the time then by all means start a new thread .......... I don't mind who starts it as long as someone does. We all need a fresh start every now and again.
My mother is getting steadily worse. One day last week I thought she was coming near the end but she has perked up again ....... those old folk were made of strong stuff!!
Sending to all who need them ........ and I will try and post more often!
Hello ladies,
Had a busy weekend. It rained most of the weekend, which i'm glad cause we really needed the rains. I ate way to much, went to a wedding receptions and then last night out to dinner with a old neighbor. Today i'm going to try and get some things done around the house.
Nita - glad you got Gene settled in and i'm sure all the patients were happy to see you pup. I have a forman grill too and this past weekend I took it out of the cabinet so i could grill some veggies too. Guess now I need to go buy some veggies.
Mooz - Glad to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear that your mom is not doing to well. Will keep her in my prayers too.
Cat - that is great news that the doc gave you the ok to start walking. Just take it easy.
Shad - that would be wonderful in starting us a new thread. I guess Mooz has always started them for us. Looking at our thread I guess Cat is right it's getting kinds of long.
This Memorial Day just wanted to say a prayer for all the men and women and their families who have given their lives so we can live in freedom. And to all of men and women who are serving our country right now that they can return safely home.
Mooz--good to see you back. Will keep your DM in our prayers.
Say, who was it that tried/is trying the apple diet? Maybe that is simple enough evern for me. I might try it anyway.
Hope you all have a good weekend.
I was so glad we actually got the day OFF, because often we have to work and just get holiday pay. For heaven's sake, who needs to know about their Medicare on Memorial Day? 3/4 of what we do is refer callers to other people, and none of THEM will be working, so it would be a total waste.
The Ode of Remembrance from the Ode to the Fallen by Binyon
The Ode of Remembrance
"They shall grow not old. As we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them".
They shall not grow old..."
This is part of our memorial service to the Anzacs (Australia and New Zealand Army Corp) It fits Memorial Day too.
Hope you all have a good day for this special holiday.
Mornin chickies ......... just a quick call. I am feeling fat!!! I am up to 168 pounds again and this has to stop. Tomorrow is 1 June and I will be 54 near the end of July and here I am still about 14 pounds at least overweight. So starting today I have to do something about this. We need a new thread and a new beginning. Shad if you have the time you can go ahead .......as it will be June 1st with you first (I think) ............. if you have not started one when I come on tomorrow morning then I will try and get the time to start one.
