    Lost 4.5 lb!!
  • Hello Ladies,

Cat - Welcome back home. We missed you. I'm sure the kids were sad to see you leave, but i'm sure you husband was glad to have you back. WTG on your 4.5 lb loss.

Ladies, I need a good kick in the A$$. I have been eating like crazy. I know it's that TOM for me, but this is getting out of hand. First I want something sweet than I want salt. An example, tonight I was at a dinner meeting, I had a on the rocks margarita while I was eating my strawberry cheesecake. Tomorrow i'm starting SBD phase 1.

Hope everyone is having a good day!
  • RE: It's a beautiful morning.. oh yeah!

    Good morning girls!

Wow, this is my time of year. Highs during the day in the low 70's and lows in the evenings in the 40's. If only...

Life is full of if only's, huh.

Today's national news shows the young man that murdered his wife pleading guilty to murder, saying he did it. The county prosecutor in Huntington, IN is saying he wants to reduce the murder charge to voluntary manslaughter becuase "no one pleads guilty to murder". Hummm... I do wonder and more than that, hope he is watching the news this weekend. I've written a letter to him, that I will mail today regarding making sure this young man that took my nieces life is behind bars for as long - as possible. You know something? The penalities for murder in this country are not what you would think. There is a real possibility this guy will be out of prison in his 20's. I wish I were kidding. We are lower middle class folks, and murder trials are expensive. The public defenders are attempting to work out a plea agreement in their words 'to protect my 11 year old nephew from having to testify". I want to know who will protect him when he is in his 20s, living in the same small town with the man that murdered his mother, while he watched, and he goes after him. Sad stuff, scary stuff. Please send your prayers for an adequate resolution to this horrible situation.

Now, on the diet. I am GOOD. Rocky and I are walking, and I am now stationary biking too. Exercise is a great stress reliever. I plan to get the weight off so I can be around to support my nephew's in the years to come.

Do you know that my best friend just returned from her honeymoon and a 14 day cruise to Hawaii. She lost 10 pounds! She went to her doctor and it is official. I have never met anyone that lost weight like that! I saw her and told her she had lost weight, she said no way. Way!
  • Hello Ladies,

Hal - I'm with you. They need to make the jail sentences harder or longer. To many are getting out after just serving 10 years or even less. Will keep you all in my prayers. WTG for getting your exercises in. I keep saying i'm going to start, but so far haven't. AND for your friend who just got back from her honeymoon... Maybe it was all that sexercise

As for me I had a .8 lb loss, which is great. This past week was my TOM and my eating was way out of control. Tomorrow i'm starting back on South Beach. Today i'm planting my some more plants.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

  • Patty--

Good luck on the SBD. I think of all the limited-carb diets it sounds the most sensible and has good research support.
  • Hi Ladies,

It's so great to read so many posts. This group is becoming "very active" again. WTG! I weighed in yesterday and lost 1-1/2 lbs., making a total of 4-1/2 lbs. in two weeks. I know I will be hitting some plateaus, and I know that is normal, however, it can be frustrating. As a result of my doing WW, my DH's sugar is coming down as well. I am still making my favorite sf pies and this time instead of getting the piecrust already made, I just put some graham crackers in the bottom of the pieplate and it worked out great, probably a little less calories.

HalGal -- I know how you are feeling--I have a young granddaughter who just turned 21 last December and just gave birth to her 4th child. Also, at the moment her children have been taken from her by the State and her baby which was born a week ago they took her also. I talked to Katrina last evening for over an hour trying to make her see what she has to do to get out of this mess. She is not married to the father of the last three and he is Puerto Rican who comes from a very angry family and several of the members tried beating her up, and would you believe, the police said there was nothing they could do. There is something wrong with the law--they seem to protect the guilty and not the victims.

Today is one of those days where I need to take a nap. I did go bowling but now I am tired. So I will close for now.

Catlover -- It's great having you back and CONGRATULATIONS on your wonderful weightloss.

    Take care,
    Anita
  • RE: Supporting one and another...

    Hey girls...

Monday, the 25th is the preliminary trial. This is where we will see the direction this case will take. The county prosecutor says he is not sure he wants to pursue a charge of murder because:

    #1 No one pleads guilty.
I hope he is watching the national news today. That young man that
shot his wife in bed sleeping pleaded guility on Friday.

#2 He wants to spare my 11 year nephew the process of testfying.
I hope he will provide personal guidance and protection if/when this
man that took his Mother's life walks out of prison, and they find
themselves sharing the same streets in the small town of Htgn, IN.

Oh my gosh... say your prayers this week for my family. It is really difficult. We honestly live in a society where if you have no financial resources, you also have no choices. I believe in God. I really do.

My good eating and exercise went out the window today, but I guess I knew it would not last forever. Now to get back on the wagon tomorrow.

I did grill swordfish and steam brocolli for dinner. It was great! I made a chicken dish for this week. It is a casserole. In the bottom it has a bag of frozen brocolli mixed with cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. I topped that with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. I placed boneless chicken breasts on top of the cheese, and Ritz whole wheat crackers/crumbs on top of that! You cover with foil, bake for 45 minutes, remove foil and brown for 10 min. It will last me the week. I'll probably eat it twice, and freeze the rest for another time.

Thanks for all of the kinds words of support everyone, I appreciate each of you so very much.

  • Mornin chickies - just a quick call. I don't seem to have as much time for the computer these days. My mother is slowly getting worse all the time and needs more care so I am busy doing that.
I am down half a pound this morning so I am happy with that.

Halgal - I hooe and pray that that murderer gets what he deserves.

Nita - That is so sad about your granddaughter ...... she is so young ....... barely a child herself.

Patty - CONGRATS on the .8 pound loss ...... a loss is a loss!

Catlover - CONGRATS on the 4.5 pound loss! Nice to have you back with us again.

Hava a nice day all .............. think I will go get a Marston quote ........ we are in need of some inspirational words .......

and todays is a good one for us all I think ................

    Gateway of experience

Everything you know has passed through the filter of your own perspective. So when was the last time you cleaned that filter?
Have your thoughts and assumptions collected a lot of anger, resentment, frustration, and other forms of negativity? Then the world that comes through the gateway of your experience will increasingly seem more dark and depressing.

Fortunately, you can choose to cleanse your own perspective so that it lets in more of life's goodness. By improving the value of what you expect, you'll increase the value of what you get.

Simply changing your thinking will not directly change the world around you. Yet it will significantly change what part of that world actually gets through to you.

Everything you expect to find in life is out there somewhere. And what you expect to find will very faithfully determine what you do in fact find.

Life has more than enough substance to meet every expectation. So choose to expect the very best, and that is exactly what will come your way.

    -- Ralph Marston

  • Hello Ladies,

Hal - Is there a local chapter of ?? I can't think of the word, but a place where women go when they get abused. I was thinking maybe there was a legal advisory at one of those places who could assist or make sure he get charged with murder.
Hal - would it helped if we (chicks) or other family members or friends would write or call the district attorney who is handling this case and say that it is a outrage that he is thinking of pleading down this case. If there is anything I can do please let me know.

Mooz - I'm sorry to hear that you mother is not doing to well. I will keep her and you in my prayers. WTG on your 1/2 loss.
  • Hello Ladies,
    Just bringing to the top.

I'm on day two of SBD and I sure am craving something sweet.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
  • Hi Ladies,

Hal, I agree with Patty, is there something we can do to assist you. I work for a criminal attorney here in Phoenix and I will be seeing him on Thursday. Perhaps he could shed some light on this subject. My other attorney represents inmates and I do believe the Assistant U.S. attorneys represent the state against these criminals. Please let us know what we can do for you. I will, of course, keep you and your nephew in my prayers.

I just finished eating my lunch which consisted of a small container of peach yogurt (1 sugar), some real chunky applesauce and about an 1/8th cup of grapenuts. I did this yesterday for lunch and found it is not only filling but I do not get any indigestion eating it. I also eat a big breakfast each day and most of the time it consists of Old Fashion Oatmeal with some raisins, skim milk, coffee with coffeemate and two pieces of low cal whole wheat toast with either a small amount of "real" jelly or regular cream cheese. For exercise I have worked out in the yard these last two mornings cutting and trimming bushes, went bowling and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. It seems if I stay busy my eating is under control. I am not sure but since I gave up all my vitamins I really don't feel those binge urges for the wrong kinds of food. I also have one of those fudge bars if I really want one in the evening.

Well I had better get moving I need to pick up my bowling partner because his truck is in the shop.

    Take care,
    Anita
  • This re-training at work is SO boring. But, then, it may be a good deal. I think I understand some of it second time through.

One thing I've noticed is that I always used to grab something to eat at break, but this time I've (2 days!) I listen to whether I'm really hungry and not just that it's break time. Going home is still hard.

Nita--WTG on the exercise and control. I wonder if some more fruit instead of the toast might be more balanced.

In Mexico I had grapefruit every monring, and it was great. Here, just the time to cut open a grapefruit seems like too much.

Hal--keeping you and family in thoughts and prayers.

Mooz--sorry about your mom. That must be very hard. My DMiL had pneumonia while I was gone. Haven't seen her yet since I got back. We did go by, but it was after 9:30 in the morning and she was still in bed. (Unusual for her--but a nice thing about her not being in a care home is she can choose her schedule just like any adult).

    Hi to everyone else.
  • Hi Chicks~~ just stopping by briefly while i have a connection (again! )
Things have been getting pretty busy with us trying to see everyone who is leaving for home soon. And before you know it we will be one of the migrants again. I think we will leave by May 1 or 2 as of right now.
Weather is nice again. Only 80's for the high. If it would stay like this it would hard to get any of us 'snowbirds' to leave here! LOL

Went w/a couple today to the Arizona Mills Mall. That is all outlet stores...we had never been there. Kinda neat. Didn't buy anything tho! Got to be on this budget and it is not fun. If they hadn't already seen the IMAX movie perhaps we would have done that.

Oil change tomorrow and a budget movie --it's nearby, so we will do that while they work on the vehicle.

I will try to post more later...everyone stay strong on your plan
