  • Hello Ladies,

Thin - The weather has been beautiful here to. Actually it's been cool in the evenings, but warms up during the day. We'r due some rains this weekend.

Cat - Are you having to retrain cause you were out, or just because they want everyone to take course over? How is you MIL?

Nita - sounds like you have your meals pretty well under control. Now the hard part is to just keep doing that. I tend to do my best, when i'm prepared.

    Hope everyone is doing ok!
  • Hi Patty,

You are so correct--I need to keep on doing this. I think what has me inspired this time around going back to WW is the fact that I have a friend whom I have committed to meet at the meetings. I haven't had this companionship for a long time and it really makes a difference. I do believe that the fact I have given up most of the sweets I was eating, I am no longer feeling I need to binge on any type of food. I did make up my own trailmix by mixing together peanuts, slivers of almonds, raisins, small cubes of papaya, a little pineapple (dried), sunflower seeds and a small amount of some M&Ms. After bowling I often have perhaps an ounce of this and I am satisfied while I am making dinner and not eating like I used to while making dinner. Today I made my sf pie with saltines on the bottom instead of graham crackers. The more the filling soaks into these crackers, the better it tastes. You are correct--it is very important to plan on what you are going to eat for the day. It is also important to eat enough food to keep you satisfied.

    Take care,
    Anita
  • Patty-- They're making me re-train because I was out. I wish they had told me that this would be required, because I just would have stayed on my old project until I came back. It wouldn't be so bad if the training weren't so HORRIBLY dull and repetitious.

Haven't had a chance to talk to MiL. She's been resting when I've been around, but my SiL who lives with her says she's improving. She'll be 90 this year (I think that's right).

Mooz--thinking about her made me think about your DM. Could a walker help keep her from falling? She might not need it all the time.

Nita--that trail mix sounds yummy. I might try that, tho I know my danger is that I won't quit at an ounce!
  • Hello ladies,
Cat - I"m with you on the trail mix. I would not stop and I would pick out the m&m's first.

Nita - I have a friend who just had the bypass surgery so that is inspiring to me knowing that I do have a choice.

Another busy day at work, but stayed OP. Tomorrow is weight in so we'll see how I did this week.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
  • Good Evening Ladies,

Well I did go to the WW meeting a day early in order to meet my friend. I lost 3/4 of a pound, making a total of 5-1/4 lbs. in three weeks. One of the things the leader suggested is "variety". It is most important not to get bored with the food you are eating. There was an older woman who reached her goal today--a total of 86-1/2 lbs. It took her over two years to do it, but she really looks great. I believe when you take it off slowly you have less chance of hanging skin. She looked really toned. What works best for her is high fiber--she said she gets in about 70 grams of fiber each day. I was so impressed with her that instead of eating my spagetti this evening I had a bowl of Fiber One with yogurt. It really was very tasty. This is the "new" Cluster cereal that they just came out with. I believe it has 14 grams of fiber. They also passed out an entertainment booklet and quite a few good recipes. I will pass some of them on after I try them out first.

As far as my trailmix goes, I, too, tend to eat the M&M's first but since there are only 3 or 4, I don't believe it matters.

Well I had better get moving. Oh, I almost forgot--when I went bowling today I bowled a 582 (187, 204, 191). This is the highest three games I have ever bowled. Who said when you get older you don't get better. I just proved that theory wrong!!!

    Take care,
    Anita
  • Hello Ladies,

Nita - WTG on your 3/4 lb loss. Your right with the variety, you have to try new things. I tend to eat the same foods over and over then I just get tired and then overdo it. So my goal is to try something new each week. Great scores on your bowling. I like to bowl too, but i'm not good at it.

As for me I had a 1.8 loss this week. I'm slowing learning that when I do have to eat out I have lots of choices. This past week I ate out 4 days and still had a weight loss. I have got to start incorporating some exercise though. Nita, have you tried those little candies that Ww puts out at the meetings? It's like 1pt for the whole package. That is helping me quite a bit, cause when I get stressed I want to eat. I think one day I ate the whole package in like a hour, but I figured it was better than eating candy bars.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
  • kicking us up to the top
Had so much to do and read murder mysteries cuddled up with cat and kitten.

At least I will walk today.

    Thinking of you all.
  • Hello Ladies,
Just a lazy day here too.

Cat - How did you cats adjust to the new kitten?

Hope everyone is having a OP day!
  • Hi Ladies,

I really had a very busy day today. First of all I went bowling and bowled 3 practice games and then we did a scotch doubles tournament (4 games). After that since it was so nice and cool here I decided it would be a good day to go out and trim some more bushes in the back yard. Then it was time to make dinner and after I finish this message I am going to relax and watch some TV. As far as my eating went today--it went really well. In fact all I had for lunch was one of the New Blue Bunny Smoothies. At the bowling alley I did have about an ounce of my trail mix and that was it. Of course I had a bowl of oatmeal with raisins and a few sliced almonds in it. And I did have my usual large cup of coffee with Coffeemate. I also had two slices of the low cal whole wheat bread (1 pt). I have not been actually counting the points but I do keep my WW calculator on the counter and I am aways checking how many points are in any one item. At the meeting the folks who pre-planned their daily eating were the ones who lost the most weight.

Well I had better get moving. Take care and I hope the rest of our group are having a super weekend!

    Take care,
    Anita
  • Hello Ladies,

Nita - I have noticed that too. The ones who have planned their meals and have good food choices on hand do tend to lose more weight, plus exercise. I seem to do much better on the weekends and at home. I guess at work I guess stressed and want to eat something.

Yeserday I worked on my plants and I think I was bending down too much. My back is sore today.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
  • Hi--

The other cats are fine with the kitten. You should see--one comes up to her bowl and the little tiny thing just nudges them away and they go!
  • Good Evening Ladies,

I just had to post this short message--today is the first day I have had the munchies. I tried just eating fruit but I ended up eating some of my trailmix, not once but twice. I did walk on the treadmill twice today and went bowling, as usual. I think perhaps I am frustrated because I bowled so well last Friday and today I couldn't do a darn thing. Tomorrow is our Sweeper Day for our League and we have a chance of making some prize money. Perhaps I am worried that I will not do well tomorrow. I need to just stay focused and it really doesn't matter if I don't win, as long as I have fun! My other bowling alley is having its monthly luncheon this Wed. and on Thursday morning I am going to a restaurant for breakfast put on by our councilman. I really need to stay focused and not blow the program. I think what happens after three weeks or so, sometimes I think I have it made--then I find out I really don't and need to work harder.

It's so nice to have you ladies to listen to my woes!

    Take care,
    Anita
  • Nita--one day (one meal, one choice) at a time--hang in there!
  • Hello ladies,
Today was a really stressful day at work. We were working on a project and it didn't turn out as well as expected. Of course the first thing I turn to is food. I was somewhat prepared with fruit, but I still wanted that candy. So I ate some. Told myself, see it really didn't help so the rest of the day, just drank lots of water.

Nita - We'll maybe you just had a off day with your bowling. Stay positive, and like Cat said one meal at a time.

Hope to hear from everyone else!

I was looking at other sites and came across this web site. It's great! It's world's healthiest foods, lots of recipes etc.

  • Hi Patty,

Looks like it is you and me this evening. You are so correct--today at bowling I did much better. Also, I have to tell you I had so much energy this morning that I cleaned my enclosed patio and took the high-back chairs outside and scrubbed the cushions. They hadn't been given a good cleaning since we bought them 6 years ago. I then blew the dust off the patio and ended up using an old mop to really get the concrete clean. After bowling I picked up a 5 x 8 piece of Berber carpet from WalMart and my patio looks like it belongs to a rich family! I had another omlette this morning and this time I added some strawberries to it along with the raisins. This kept me filled up until noon at which time I had one of those new Yoplait yogurts with a little grapenuts in it. It is so great not to have that bloating feeling or indigestion. It sure does pay to get back on track. I even walked on the treadmill and will do so again soon after I finish this post before American Idol and House come on.

My daughter in PA let me know today about 12 people at WalMart have all paid $20 into a pot and the one who loses the most weight come July 4th that person will get the entire fund. She told me what makes the difference is someone else is weighing her and now she has incentive to keep going.

Well I hope everyone else is having a controlled week--hope to hear from you soon!

    Take care,
    Anita
