Nita--prayers for your sister. Hope the news is better than it sounds.

Patty--I did get some pepper spray yesterday. They sell it where my husband works, and he says it works better than the Mace and less likely to blow back on the user. But same idea.

There's animal control in Lawrence, but they only deal with strays, which this dog isn't.

A few years ago Cunka was attacked by other pit bulls and the LPD didn't do anything until they killed a little Yorkie that was being walked. THEN the prosecutor called us in to testify that these were dangerous dogs. But it wasn't encouraging--though they did change the city law after that.

Maybe I should send my neighbor my bill from the ER (what the insurance doesn't cover).

Oh--about the therapist who does hypnosis--he said that with a focussed problem like wt. loss, it can often be handled in maybe 6 sessions. So maybe it won't be too expensive. And since he's fully qualified and does not just do hypnosis, the ins. will pay.

Back on the phones today--at least it's better than training. I wasn't at my sharpest with the pain in my leg and tired, but I think I did pretty well. And my Spanish really was better.

Night, all.

Hello ladies,

Cat - I would definitely give her the bill. In fact I would make a copy and give her the full bill. Maybe that will scare her into keeping the dogs on a leash or inside.

I'm trying to get back on track with SBD and it has been hard. Today is day two and everytime I see candy, I just want to eat it. So far so good.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Hey, kickin' us back to the top.

Got some sugar-free Starbucks ice cream. Shows you should always read labels, because although it's lower in carbs, it's 190 calories a serving, which isn't too bad but not really low calorie.

Patty--hand in there!

Hello Ladies,

Just watched the Oprah show and it was very inspirational to see the women who have lost weight. I know the key for me is exercise yet I don't exercise. Doing good on my food, trying to eat more veggies.

Cat - humm, I didn't know starbucks made an ice cream. That is something I really need to stay away from. Ice cream is a food trigger for me.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Default Hey, pushin' us back up to the top!

Hmm--just found out you need to include a message as well as a title. Live and learn.

Heavy rain here--a little seepage under the basement door, but not bad.

Fear I will have the bruise on my leg for a long time. Ugyh! no shorts.

It is hard to believe we only have 12 more days of school.

It is also hard to believe, this time next week I'll be traveling to Indiana to attend the sentencing hearing for the young man that took my nieces life. These are 'difficult' days.

Anyway, you just do the best you can, with what you have. And pray and talk to God lots and lots.

Hi Ladies,

I was wondering why I wasn't being alerted to the postings here--and I still don't know why.

I did manage to lose 1-1/4 lbs. this week but I gave up eating the apples both Friday and Saturday and only ate an apple once today. I will start doing it again tomorrow. Like I said, they definitely fill you up and it seems you don't crave the goodies. Also, since I am back on WW my DH's blood sugars have been running 104, 111 and hardly ever go over 120 in the mornings. He is on two different kinds of meds but no insulin. I took him for his physical therapy evaluation on Friday and he is set up to have 3 visits this coming week. If he does the exercises he can regain the use of his legs.

The temperature here got to 100 degrees. So I will have to start going back to the health club to get in my exercise. I think I have mentioned this before--in the 70's WW suggested you didn't do any exercises until you got to 10 lbs. to goal. Supposedly that is why we lost more weight back then because they said it was easier to get rid of fat than muscle. I guess we just have to do what our bodies need--and it is definitely up to each individual to get to know their own body.

Well I had better get moving. I have been gone all day bowling--3 games of practice and 4 games in a no-tap tournament. I didn't do well in the tournament but I did have a lot of fun!

Take care,
Anita

Hello Ladies,

Good to hear from everyone.

Nita - Wow in the 100's already. I think our high's have been in the 80's so far. WTG for losing 1 1/4 lbs. I'm sure you being on Ww and watching what you eat, also effects your husband eating. That's great that his blood surgars have been down.

Hal - thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have continued to pray for your nieces kids.

Cat - What did you decide to do about the bill? are you going to show it to your neighbor?

As for me a busy week, my refrigerator was acting up about 4 weeks ago and the service man came out and look at it 4 weeks ago. Said it was a timer, so the following week another service man came out and installed the part, and then last week noticed the freezer was still not freezing. Another service rep came out on saturday and this time he said it was misdiagnosed and that they no loger have the parts. Since I have a service agreement with Sears, they are going to replace my ref. with a new one. So today I was off looking at refrigerators and went to a baby shower.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Patty--well, I haven't gotten any bill yet, but I don't think at this point I'll give it to her. When Earl was in law school, they kept pointing out that you can't get blood out of a turnip. I think I will get in touch with our nearby city commissioner.

Slow day at work--it gets so boring.

Anyone read the book on who moved my cheese or something like that? I read it, and it doesn't apply at all to people who sit in cubicles all day. Still we get a free cheeseburger or soyburger lunch tomorrow, so that will be interesting.

Hi chicks ....... just dropping by quickly. Nothing strange happening with me. My mother seems to have settled down a bit since she started getting a sleeping pill every night. I think that because she is getting a better nights sleep now she is not so confused during the day. It means that I get more unbroken sleep also which is great
I still get for my walks which is also great but I have not lost any more weight ........... which is not so great
On Saturday when I was out walking with a friend I had stopped at a shop and bought 2 pounds of sausages and 1 pound of bacon. When I was carrying this 3 pound weight home I thought to myself that every day I make myself carry around at least 5 times that weight of fat that I don't need!!!!!
Every day I carry that extra 15 pounds around with me ...... now how silly is that??? I could walk so much quicker if I was 15 pounds lighter ....... I could do everything better if I was lighter. So now when I am tempted to eat food I don't need I think of that 3 pounds of meat I carried home on Sat.
My friend started WW 4 weeks ago and she is sticking to her points and is steadily losing 1 or 2 pounds every week so I am going to try and stick to some sort of point system on my own as I do not want to pay the £15 joining fee and then £5.50 each week after that. I also found that WW made me think too much about food and I was tending to starve myself on a Mon and Tues before weighin and then eat too much immediately after the weighin!!!!
Not WW fault but my own I might add!!

Halgal ...... thinking of you at this very difficult time

Patty ........ I am sure you will be glad to get your fridge sorted soon....... we don't appreciate them until they stop working!!

Nita ....... so your hubby is getting healthier since you are back at WW ..... sounds like a good plan for all. CONGRATS on the weightloss

Catlover ....... I hope your leg is feeling better by now.

Thin and Michelle ........ hope you are both keeping well.

Give your attention

Is there something in your life that you would like to make stronger? Then give more of your attention to it.
Have you come across a tiny shred of goodness in a situation that is otherwise filled with despair? Give your attention to that small goodness, and it will grow more influential.

Continue giving your attention to what is positive, and it will grow even more positive. Give your attention to what works, to what creates real value, and the value that is produced will increase.

Those who fail have usually given too much attention to the negative aspects of their efforts. All that attention has given those negative influences more and more power, to the point where they can be completely overwhelming.

Those who succeed, on the other hand, have given the bulk of their attention to the positive possibilities. And that attention has brought those possibilities to life.

Become aware of, and choose carefully, the things to which you give your attention. For where you place your attention is where your life will grow.

Hello Ladies,

Cat - you probably won't get any type of reimbursement, but I guess I would want her to see what expenses I had to incur. I've heard of those books but never read them.

Mooz - I'm sure with your mom sleeping through the night i'm sure that is making her more alert and less confused. You know there have been studies that not getting enough sleep can add weight to a person. My Ww pass has expired to and i'm debating if I want to rejoin or not.

Hope to hear from everyone soon!

Hi Chicks~~~
Finally made it back to the northwoods. Weather is not too good here, it's been cold enough to need the furnace somewhat each day(some all day long!) And today it's a cold rainy one. I made up the sugar water for the hummingbirds and are they ever grateful to have it. It is just a busy feeding station as i look out the window at them. They probably need it big time with this weather.

I still have suitcases to unpack, but some of the things have gotten put away. Still alot to do tho', and that makes me weary!

We had an enjoyable trip back. We visited a few places along the way. Looked at land in Northern Arizona. Stayed 3 nights w/his sister and her husband. And got together with his brother and family who are about 1 hr. from them. So that was nice. Then we did a whole new route home, a more northern one. Thru Wyo and S.D. that way we got to stop at Crazy Horse monument and see how that is coming along, we were there like 20 some yrs back! Now the face is all done and the arm and horses head is being sculpted. It is well worth the price to view it, as it goes toward the finishing of it. Quite some changes at the visitors center. Used to be teeny-tiney and the film was a film-strip if i remember right! Now it's in a good size movie theater. And the center is huge, full of artists work. Fantastic visit. Wish i were just a tad talented..i guess cause i'm not it seems even more awesome to view it all.

I will write more soon. Back to reality and getting my walks in. I am out of any schedule now from all the bad eating on the road trip and lack of exercise! Time to do something about that.
