Default Alan from Adelaide

Hi, Have been on 3FC for a couple of months now, and have just found the Aussie connection.
Thought I woould say hello, and give everyone my brand of encouragement!
I am seventy...until September, when I get another year older ...but have managed to make it so far in reasonable shape.

Buying the right food is the answer for me. "You caint eat what you aint got" is my motto.

Keep smiling!

Alan

Hi Alan, welcome aboard! I'm Julia and I'm a Kiwi who's found my home here with the Aussie chicks. Love your motto! I totally agree, having the right food in the cupboards is a big part of the battle won.

Well done Amy on another great result. You're SO CLOSE to double digits!

Yeah Kel I'm stoked with my tshirt it really appeals to my sense of humour!

Aww Barb she's lovely!

I had a good dinner out last night, nice and healthy. Unfortunately it was chased by a big ice cream! Doh

Today I'm working at my normal job until 1pm and then heading to the stadium to do my first shift at my second job, ushering the crowds at the rugby.

It's going to be a full on day with lots of standing and walking around which should be good. I've got some lovely steaks defrosting and will have steak and salad for dinner tonight.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Barb she is so pretty. I bet she will be very spoilt.

Worked the other night and worked with midwife to deliver a baby. was awesome. but funny as we only 1 mid and another lady came in already wanting to push so we had to get another on staff asap. the bubs ended up born only 15 minutes or so apart. Ours was awesome but needed a little help to get going. so was scary for my first but awesome to have that kind of experience and i kept calm cool and collected woohoo. I've been in delivery before but more as an observer not a doer.

i have a very stuffy head cold at the moment and everything tastes like crap so i am not eating... haha prob binge though when it goes away.

Kel did you have a hair cut?

Amy you roclk going anyway to gym.

Julia hope u have an awesome time at the stadium. you'll be run off yr feet no doubt.

Welcome Alan. hgha at Barbs rooster comment.

the body jam class was seriously great fun... but i was the only one in the class.. lol..

but then it was probably best since i am a complete novice and she could show me what to do .

boy did i sweat.... even got a stitch near the end..

and was expecting to be very sore today but nope i am fine

Took the kids fro a 3 hour swim at the pool..... i was slower then usual i have to admit... and at one stage i got a mnor cramp... bhut other then that i was fine.. which was a nice surprise....

oh.. and this might sound odd.. but since i started aqua i have been able to just stay still and float in any position... i could make a ball of myself and still manage to float with my head and shoulders out of the water ... ... but not any more... i tried to stay still when was in the deep end with Leah and i sunk.... .... so i spose it is true what they say fat floats... and now i must have less of it... ... which must mean i have more muscle then i used too since my weight hasn't moved that much.. ..

anyway cool thing to figure out...

I suck at maintenance!

And I have been struggling to find my motivation, but I won't give up. This week I am going to nail all my goals and get back on track.

I have a small extension on my book deadline. I have to hand the manuscript in to the publisher in just 13 days, so I won't be here much until then but I've been popping in and reading whenever I get a chance.

No more chocolate!

Thanks for being so accepting girls.
To be honest, until now I hadn't give a thought to being the only male. In my last thread there was a Lawrie, and I thoughtn she was a man. Derr!

Since I have not yet been ejected, I guess I will enjoy being here, if you can put up with me!

You never know, with my 70 years experience (although most of the time I feel somewhere between 45 and 55) I may have something useful to say.

Let me know when you've had enough :-)

But I want a secret ballot please
Alan

ani - why is it that you suck at maintenence? which of the goals that you set yourself everyday are you NOT achieving?? no more chocolate? wont that just make you want it more and blow it when you do have it??
i think i have finally learnt and have had 2 "servings" of the cheese i bought the other day, a slice on my "benji sub" yesterday and some grated cheese on my mostly eggwhite omelette this morning.

i am SO hoping that the scales tomorrow reflect the Post Choice mindframe i am in - i am so so hoping i have lost weight but regardless i am getting fitter, i can be bothered to do more etc
today benji and i finished the major bits of the chookpen and went and bought boxing stuff, i am loving boxing with my trianer at the gym and now i can do it at home, i got the boxing bag out and dusted it off and found my gloves so now we bought some resistance pads so i can punch at benji rather than just the bag!! i cant wait - i am ROCKY hehehe

tomorrow morning weigh in!
woo hoo

and yes vonni i got a hair cut - when i am happy with it i will take a photo heheeh (it is not bad there is just a bit at the front that needs training oh and at the back)

Alan I'm sure you'll have lots of useful things to contribute! We're not too scary a bunch of girls and we won't turf you out on your ear

Sorry to hear you're not doing as well as you'd hoped Ani. It must be very distracting though having the book's deadline looming. This weight loss game takes a lot of hard work and concentration! Keep at it though mate, you'll get there eventually

Vonni it sounds like you had a great experience at your first delivery! Awesome

Some of my friends at work do body jam Amy and they love it. That's cool that you got to have a 1 on 1 session with the instructor

I had a good first shift at the stadium. I had 4 doors to monitor, just had to approach people and say hi, show them to their seats etc. Once the game got started I just wandered up and down, keeping an eye on the crowd. I was there for just over 5 hours, on my feet the whole time which I'm not used to so I was knackered by the end of it.

I sent the boy down to Dominos and we had pizza for tea. Not the best choice but by god, I savoured every mouthful. Next time I'll know to have something prepared before I go to work.

Today I'm feeling really tired and unmotivated. Haven't got any food prepared so will have to buy lunch which is always a bit of a pain. My goals for today are:

1) Make good decisions with my food intake.
2) Go to the gym, even if it's just for a 20 minute walk.
