Thanks for the tips. I am not feeling so good today feeling very tired. I haven't done any workouts today but I have eaten clean today. Hopefully I will feel better in the morning and can kick my day off with some cardio.

Judy - I hope your Tuesday went well. I'm a little sore today from my yoga workout yesterday. It was more of a workout than I thought at the time - especially in my abs and thighs. I'm looking forward to my next class. Are you still doing yoga on a regular basis?

Mystical - I hope you have more energy today. It's hard to get motivated when we're tired . That's how I felt on Monday and yet I felt so much better after my workout.

I went and bought a new yoga mat as the exercise mat I have isn't really suitable as it slips around everywhere. I've been replacing my evening meal with a protein shake and it's fun coming up with different ones. So far, my favorite add-ins are banana w. frozen blueberries. I always add in a tbsp. of ground flax seed - you can't even tell it's in there. Today I'm going to try peach/banana. I seem to sleep a bit better when I have a shake instead of a regular meal.

Mystical - Here is the basic 'recipe':

Place in a blender:

1 cup 1% milk (100 calories)

2 scoops protein powder (I use Designer Whey Weight Control French Vanilla which has 120 calories for 2 scoops). I like this one because it's all natural and doesn't contain any fake sugar substitutes. It contains a fiber called glucomannan which has some health benefits such as helping to regulate glucose and making you more "regular". Here is some info on glucomannan: http://www.glucomannan.com in case you are interested.

1 tbsp. finely ground flax seed (30 cals).

Fruit of your choice - I like to use 1/2 cup frozen blueberries (40 cals.) and 1/2 a large ripe banana (60 cals.) If you use fresh or canned fruit instead of frozen, add several ice cubes. Blend well and enjoy! It's around 350 calories total.

I find that I don't get the munchies after having this shake and the effect seems to last right till breakfast the next day. It's not low calorie, but very filling, so you can halve the recipe if you like. Sometimes I make just 1/2 serving and have it together with a slice of cheese on toast for supper.

Awesome thanks I would love to try this one. Sometimes I just don't feel like having that big dinner at night. This sounds like it would be something I would love

Hi Penny & Mystical - Trust you all had a great day. I am feeling much better the last couple of days. I have been taking a natural pill for women to help with hormone issues. I realize I could take 2 so I'm taking one at breakfast and one at lunch. It has seemed to help a lot.

Yesterday as WI - loss of .6lbs. I'm thankful it was a lost, because once again I had an emotional eating week and I haven't been walking. I did better with food today, but still not as well as I should have. Wanted to mow tonight but it rained again. We had the landscape company I work for do the pruning of our plants and edging of the beds. We just had them drop the mulch so we could do it ourselves and save money. Since I couldn't mow I started doing the mulching. I worked about and hour and 15 minutes. I love working outside. If it's not raining in the morning I'm going to take a walk.

I was looking at the shake recipe you have. My husband sells Herbalife so we have protein shakes using the Herbalife products. I usually have a chocolate shake for breakfast with some aloe in that helps to cleanse you body. You can add fruit to it, but I'm not crazy about fruit and milk mixed. It sours my stomach.

It's time for me to head upstairs and get ready for bed. I like to be in bed by 10:00 EST if I'm getting up at 5:20 to go for a walk before work.

Have a great Wednesday.

Kathy

Good morning ladies, I hope all is well.

Hi Kathy . I'm glad to see you had a loss! It's always a good thing when you can have a 'bad' week and not gain. Hopefully this week is better for you.

Penpal - that shake does sound yummy. Perhaps I shall try it.

I'm quite proud of myself this morning. I don't feel well and when I woke up I thought, "Oh I'm getting sick. I should stay home from the Y." So I got back into bed - and 30 seconds later I realized I was full of sh*t. I really don't feel well, but that's no reason not to go to the Y. I'm not dying; my throat and chest just hurt a little. If I let myself stay home for that - I'm letting myself get accustomed to a behavior that has derailed my diet plans in the past. So I went. I'm not sure I worked as hard as I have been, but I went and worked out. For the 'get healthy me' - that was a huge victory over the 'me who loves her bed more than being awake at 5:30am'.

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi! A quick note, as I'm tired of keyboards and monitors today! I'm feeling a little glum about what's not happening with my weight loss journey, but I will hang in there! I did a short cardio workout this morning, and will take a long walk on the way home. If I set my alarm, I can get up early enough to check out a different yoga class at the gym Thursday morning.

It's good to hear from everyone! I hope you're all looking forward to the holiday weekend.

I MISS THE SUN!
Honestly! I just checked weather.com to make sure I wasn't exaggerating- and since June 9th it's been sunny twice. TWICE! On days it hasn't rained it's been cloudy, and the fog has been so bad you can't see anything. I don’t live in an area that is always rained upon either. It's just so depressing, and all I want to do is sleep. Not good when I need to be motivated.

I swam again this morning. I’ve made a deal with myself (started on June 27th) that if swim for 24/29 days between June 27th and July 25th, then I can get an underwater MP3 player. 6 days out of the 24 down. Yay! I’d really like to go on my elliptical machine when I get home too – but I’m just too tired, with the rain and TOM and all .**

Is it giving up if I’m skipping my second work out of the day? I didn’t do it last night either. :-/

I think my lifeline is ready... mmm coffee...

everyone have a great day, and a great weekend if you don't check in.

(**Does anyone else thing the tired smiley guy looks more like a drug addict than it does someone who's sleepy?)

Oh yeah - I forgot to mention another reason I may be so tired. My husband twitches a lot in his sleep, and moves when he's dreaming. Sometimes I become collateral damage and get punched in the knee or kicked in the shin. Last night he woke me up because he kicked me full force in the butt. Now, I'm tired - my butt hurts, and I need to figure out if that was some Freudian slip on his part that I need to watch out for.

Mystical - I hope you'll enjoy the shake.

Kathy - I'm glad the hormonal supplement is helping a bit. I know the hormones (or lack of) did a number on me and I think it's part of the reason why I have trouble losing weight and sleeping properly. I asked my ob/gyn about taking hormones, but I'm not allowed to as I'm a breast cancer survivor.

Marbear - Good for you staying motivated even though you don't feel well. A friend of mine kicks a lot at night and her doctor said she has 'restless legs syndrome'. Not nice if you get kicked in the butt though - maybe you should return the favor!

Judy - Sorry you're feeling a bit glum. It can be very disappointing when you're trying hard but still not losing. Hang in there, the scale will eventually start cooperating! : Let us know how your new yoga class goes. I'm really looking forward to my class on Monday, and I usually NEVER look forward to exercise.

It's very hot here - mid 90s. We may go to the coast for the day on the weekend as it's always about 30 deg. cooler there. The heat is making me feel very sluggish and it's way too hot to do yard work. I've been eating lots of watermelon - so yummy when it's hot. It's also a diuretic and I'm trying to eat 2-3 diuretic foods a day. My rings are a bit looser and I'm on track for losing a pound this week (weigh in is on Sunday). I'm also drinking fresh lemon juice mixed with water and a little maple syrup to sweeten it , which I take with a cayenne supplement. This is supposed to be a liver tonic which aids digestion and helps flush out toxins. I must say my digestion has been a lot better since I started this about a week ago. Here is some info on the health benefits of lemon juice which I think is quite interesting http://proliberty.com/observer/20040711.htm.

Yaay, my weekend's about to start !

Marbear, I'm sorry to hear that someone's giving you a butt-kicking. Maybe it's your conscience reminding you to get your workouts in. I hope that your 'carrot' of an MP3 player does the trick. And you're right about the tired smiley guy, but then in my experience drug addicts are tired a lot, since their lives are pretty stressful and not very healthy

Oh, Penny, thanks for the reminder about lemon juice! I have a squeeze in my tea every morning, but I love lemons, and could definitely kick it up a notch. 'Course, I really love lemonade but that wouldn't be helpful. I hoep you go down to the cool coast.

I've been on program the past few days, and much better about not overeating at night. I'm going to have a pretty uneventful three-day weekend, so I might treat myself to happy hour with friends this evening (and pass on the various BBQs and other temptations as people celebrate the Fourth). I tried almond mild this morning. I love smoothies and shakes, but the protein powders are nasty (to me, anyway) with water, and I have to avoid dairy and soy in the morning. I had a simple chocolate mint shake with almond milk this morning, along with my oatmeal, and that worked out well . I did cardio this morning, and I'll take a long walk this evening...on my way to happy hour But I'll have one drink, no fried, salty or fatty snacks, and head home.

marbear24 Great job on the swimming today. Hope you don't get a butt kicking every night LOL

penpal I haven't tried the shake yet but I plan on incorporating them into my diet a couple times a week. Thanks for the recipe.

judydc Good job on the cardio and great job on planning what you will have tonight. I think that is allot the key to all this is the planning...

As for me today I have been so busy I didn't get my cardio in this morning I have been getting ready for our move. Between trying to schedule all the utilitiy hook-ups and packing I totally forgot the cardio and I even forgot I hadn't even eaten today I told my husband I must be having blonde momments today! I am going to have my dinner and then before bedtime I will do my cardio hopefully I will be able to get up in the morning and get my cardio in first thing.

Have a great day everyone.

Marbear24 sorry that it is rainy and you are at work today. But it sounds like you had a great start to you day. You are doing an awesome job. Especially when you are planning ahead. I hope that I can do better with that part.

I made me an egg, whole wheat, lettuce, tomatoe sandwich for breakfast. Then I have some organizing before I get my run in. I am trying to run in the morning and evening 6 days of the week. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday I will do my full body workout. At least it looks good on paper and I have posted it on my frig so I can see it everyday. I am so motivated now that I have been on here with all you wonderful people.

Hope you all have an awesome day
