I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I've been eating on program. Today I did 60 minutes of cardio at the gym. Later I went to the mall and bought some bookcases from World Market--and splurged by paying for them to deliver them and put 'em together . They should arrive tomorrow.
Do any of you get the Fit TV channel on cable? I've been watching it a lot lately, hoping the constant drumbeat of healthy eating and exercise helps with the evening munchy cravings.

Judy - Way to go with all the exercise and staying on plan! You are so motivated to be taking classes at all hours . The cute trainer is a great incentive !
We were just at World Market the other day and saw the cool furniture they have nowadays. I hope you enjoy your new bookcases - it's nice you didn't have to go through putting them together, that's always my least favorite part about getting new furniture. Our favorite thing to buy at World Market are the orange/ginger and strawberry/rhubarb preserves. They are all natural and made with sugar - not corn syrup like most jams these days. They are so flavorful I only need a teaspoon on toast to satisfy my taste buds!
I'm still on track but the scale has been stuck at 205 for two weeks. I'm hoping for a whoosh soon!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Penny, I love browsing through the food section of World Market, too. They have great little travel-sized things, like the squeeze packets of hummus, that come in handy on a long plane ride. I always check the sodium count on the packages, some of the food has nearly a days' worth of salt in one serving!
I'll probably be irked when the delivery guys show up and put the bookcases together in a few minutes. All the little hinges and things looked like a challenge to me, and I already have one failed project (the filing cabinet) that's been sitting in a corner for months now. I'm afraid that I'll be putting my poor brother to work on it when he comes to visit in a few days.
No workout today--I've been cleaning, doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I'm really anxious about seeing some motion on my stupid scale , and hope that TOM is why I haven't seen any progress. National Whoosh week is nearly over, and I'd settle for a single pound loss at this point!

Well girls I am ready to get real serious now. I am off to the drs today for my blood test results. And ready to say no to any meds to get my #'s down. I want to be more careful and take a step myself in the right direction first. I haven't been over doing it lately. Regarding many parties etc. sure I eat all the good stuff but try to eat less of it. This a.m. I had a half of bagel saved the other part for my SIL. Lets share them cals... and a sm. peach. Thats it. Regarding jam I have started to make some freezer jam less sugar and so good. That is better for me than cooked which is lots of sugar. Folks raved about it at my party for our birthdays yesterday. I made pulled pork but trimmed it myself so I knew what was in there. Made brine and soaked my ck. drumsticks then grilled them no skin for me. But the flavor was great. I made a pasta salad with blk beans jalopeno pepper, veggies and my own dressing control I say! I am trying to cut back on meat and making more seafood. I am starting my journal today to document my intakes to really move in the right direction. Maui time is coming that will also be an incentive to get myself moving... I am going to look to my friends here for moral support and movtivation so you'll be hearing from me more often. My friend is starting Jenny Craig but for me I need to just do it myself after all Jenny won't be with you forever. I hope she does well but for me its just not the way.
Penny so sorry to hear about your friends and the cancer. Boy yah just never know and it should remind us all to really try to remain as healthy as possible through good habits but even with that sometimes things still happen but at least we have a fighting chance against it. My thoughts are with you. My hubby had that ear thing years ago not a nice feeling its like your balance is all messed up. Hope he is feeling better now.
Judy the World Market sounds like a great place. We had a big downtown Syracuse craft and art show with many vendors this weekend but I was to busy.
Hello to everyone else and I am looking forward to knowing you all better.
I am off to the drs then work it will be a late one for me tonight. I have calling hrs for a clients mom. I had to tell him of his loss the other day not a part of my job I like thats for sure. But someone has to do it better coming from me who has known him for many years. The sun is shining that is a plus this summer their calling for a sunny week something we have lacked this year its been Seattle weather here sunny, warm, rainy.

Well looks like everyone is on vacation here? I made it to the Drs and my #s were better than 6 months ago but the thyroid was off? Go figure. Anyways guess maybe that contributes to gaining a few lbs. at least I will take that excuse now its time to get into the swing of things. My HI tickets are bought and I want to be healthy and feel great so nothing left to do than make it happen right? Well its a start anyways. Better choices this week.

hH, Carol! I'm not on vacation yet, just swamped at work and scrambling to get my place ready for company this weekend. You have your Hawai'i tickets, you family will be so excited to see Grandma! Maui will definitely be a great incentive for focusing on making healthy choices.
I know that some of the ladies on this thread are dealing with challenges--moving, health, sadness--so I hope you are all hanging in there as best you can
I didn't work out this morning, and I took a friend out to a Thai place for dinner, for her birthday and as a thank-you for doing my organization a huge favor. I splurged on on fresh fruit margaritas . I have my last session with the trainer in the morning, so maybe I can work off some of the extra calories.

This has been the longest day! But I'm glad that I started it at the gym with a session with the trainer, then 60 mins of cardio. Crunches on the balance ball...my belly will feel it tomorrow morning. I had a good day of eating on program. So I'm feeling very good, despite being very cranky at work lately. Thinking about vacation later on in August helps a lot .
Marbear, it has been awfully quiet around here. Sometimes we do have a bit of a lull, when everyone has distractions at the same time. I hope you're doing okay.

Dah! That came out wrong. I meant there wasn't much going on with me so I hadn't posted - not that there wasn't anything going on with you guys! Sorry - that sounds rude if you inpret it the wrong way...
Still not much going on with me. I'm a walking zombie... too many guests this month! It's quite draining...

Carol - It's good to hear from you. It sounds like you are busy, busy, as usual! I know what you mean about Jenny Craig and similar diets. I know they work in the short run - I lost 45 lbs. years ago on Nutrisystem but quickly gained it all back when I went off it. Now I tend to think in terms of something I'll do for the rest of my life. I'm just trying to say within my 1600 calories and eat healthy. I've managed to lose 5 lbs. of the 20 I gained back last year. It will always be a struggle, but if I gave up on it I know I'd gain another 50 lbs. and be thoroughly miserable- so quitting is not an option no matter what!
Judy - Sounds like your trainer has a good routine for you. You are probably gaining some muscle so that would explain why the scale isn't cooperating yet. Are you going anywhere on vacation? You must be really looking forward to a break with your busy schedule .
Marbear - Having house guests can be a mixed blessing - it's lovely to spend time with people you are fond of but it puts you out of your regular routine, no matter how well you get along.
I hope everyone else is doing well.
It's been horribly hot here - 106 deg. yesterday ! It was a record for us as we're not used to these temperatures. It's been over 90 to 100 deg. for the past several days and no relief in sight till next Monday. It's been a struggle to keep the annuals alive and I have to water very early before it gets too hot to be outside. How I wish we had some of our refreshing rain showers .
I'm going to start doing the yoga at home now that I have room to stretch out since we reorganized our living room for our big TV and got rid of the coffee table. It's funny, but I've never had a big enough space to do floor exercises properly. I may get one of the WAP tapes that Marie always said were good. We also have the treadmill in the corner so I can watch TV while I walk. In the other corner we have our Ceragem infra red massage bed that my DH and I love to use for our bad backs, so we're all set! I don't know why we didn't think of doing this before as we have so much more room than in our family room off the kitchen.

Hey, Penny, that's some awfully hot weather for that part of the country We're back to our usual muggy weather in DC. You seem to be very close to your birthday goal--you can do it!
Marbear, no worries . I was probably just reflecting my own thoughts, and missing some of our more frequent posters. Anyway, I hope you get a break from the company soon.
I've had to give up and admit that once again, there's "a" mouse in my apartment. This happened in my old apartment building, too. The janitor came by yesterday to plug any holes and put down sticky traps. My brother will be here tomorrow, so I'll get rid of the traps then. I know they are cruel, and I'm terrified of actually catching one of the poor buggers--I just can't have them in my space.
I had my morning constitutional walk today, and will be back at the gym in the morning. I've been eating unusually well, so I'm pleased with myself.

Marie I think continuing to try new items and ideas helps keep us moving forward. My friend decided to renig on her Jenny too much money. I wondered how it really helps if you depend on others to cook for you etc. See I like to be in control a bit more than that. My friend thought about it and she is just going to work on learning more about being healthy and calorie counting etc oh and exercise of course. I am also increasing my exercise and making healthier choices to day I did eat too much cheese a no no for sure. I have been kayaking and walking this week and doing a bit of gardening. Today it was beautiful outside our weather hasn't been so hot this summer unlike your hot hot oh Marie thats nuts.... I have enjoyed going out on the lake and make it a point to do my kayaking at least once a week. I did it for almost 2 hrs. I made some great kabobs for dinner tonight so tasty and ck. peppers, onions all on the stick grilled and corn on the cob. I did manage to have a little brownie. But one is better than more control... oh its not so easy.
Judy sounds like you are still as busy as ever.
Penny making any soaps lately ? Your large area sounds great and starting yoga is so good for you.
We are still working on our bedroom. The carpet is being installed on Friday this week. I painted the ceiling today to it was so hot out. Then I took a break before grilling dinner to swim in my sisters pool with the grandkids now thats where those brownies came into the house preparing them for the kids.
I should have more will power but not today. At least the exercise helped out.
Has anyone ever heard it takes 3,ooo cals to gain a lb? I just wondered as I had never heard it before this week.
Well take care and I will continue to ck in this is part of my being on track.

Hello everyone,,,,this sounds like a good idea, so today was a good day for me. Sinus/cold makes it easier, no craving for food... Weight watchers points keep me on track to less weight...As long as I keep myself within the points. So 26 -28 is my range and so far today I have 20, just not really hungry...Plus when I got home from work (Emergency dept nurse) kinda got pissy about boyfriend smoking (he has copd and has had a hard time breathing recently.) So we're not talking to each other right now...He's laying on the couch watching t.v. I'm sitting on the floor typing. (One of my hounds is sleeping behind me, cuddled up to my bum....) thanks for listening.....hugs

G'morning! I hope that everyone's having a good weekend. My brother has been here since Friday, so we've been wandering around town. We sat in on part of an improv marathon, that was hysterical. I've also been trounced pretty badly at Scrabble. Except for his love of ice cream, my brother is a bit of a health nut, so I've been making good choice (except for ice cream ). We're on the way to the gym shortly.
Hi, ernurse! Congratulations on losing so much weight . What's working for you?
Carol, all that kayaking must be making you very strong

Judy - Sorry to hear about your unwanted "visitor" ! I hope the janitor can get rid of him/her for you asap. I used to feel sorry for the moles we trap until I got so mad about all the plants they uprooted and killed while they were searching for worms. It must be nice for you to have your brother visiting (a much more welcome visitor I'm sure! ) I used to play Scrabble with our DS but he always kicked my butt!
Carol - Sounds like you've been burning some calories with all that decorating. I think you were replying to my post about Jenny Craig, etc. as Marie doesn't post here any longer. I haven't made any soaps lately but will be making some soon for a bazaar on the 15th. I haven't decided what kind to make yet. The ones with the embedded silk flowers or mylar ladybugs are quite popular.
enurse - welcome! It sound like you're doing well on WW. I just do plain old calorie counting, which works as long as I stick to my 1500-1600 calories (easier said than done). I hope your cold is soon better but at least it helps not having a sense of smell or taste when you're trying to lose!
I weighed in down .5 lb. Not much, but I'll take it. My DH is out of town next week, so that will help me concentrate on staying on plan. We tend to have too many snacks when he's around. We just joined Netflix and it's working out well. It's much more convenient than going to the video store.
Have a good week everyone!
